  1. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

I would just describe it as an old pals act for a BDO friend. I actually watched the very late night highlights again last night when they showed just particular dodgy legs which does not completely put the game in context as Fitton was playing well and that is why the sudden and inexplicable drop in standard was so noticeable. However it is even clearer to my mind that this was a fix and Im not the only one with this view' date=' practically everyone who saw it was saying the same thing. Even the commenatators (btw hasnt Mason turned out to be a refreshing change to the hype merchants from sky) picked up on it. When Fitton won that 7th leg that he didnt want too but in the end did otherwise it would be so blatent that he was fixing the game, Rawling said something like, 'its gone in' in a tone expressing total surprise. The last couple of legs did not look good either. Fitton needs 88 and ends up with a D7 for it that mysteriosuly ends up in the middle of D19 so he busts that shot. There was an occasion he was on for a 180 and had the first two in the T20 only to end going to the ones but looking at his throw I have to say that he almost just put it there as there was the whole left end of the bed to aim at and he seemed to just aim right when there was no space. The tops were good attempts for the the 0 of the 20 on the wire. I have no doubt in my mind about that game.[/quote'] I've had a look at the entire game now and watched it with the opinion that it was fixed, but having seen it that really is how Darryl Fitton plays. He can be massively on top in a match and then suddenly he goes all over the board. This happened to him when leading against Thornton in the Masters last year,he battered him scoring and finishing in the first 4 sets but then went muck-spreading across the board big style. It happened again in the 2008 BDO Champs when he blitzed Robson and was outscoring Webster in the Quarters when he couldn't hit a double to save his life. Regarding the comments by Mason and the other bloke,it's just the same old balls they've been spouting all week, anything to try and sensationalise and get a story. I still can't belive Fitton would let Anderson through knowing he could face him in a later round where Anderson would trash him over a longer format. If he'd wanted to throw it he would have just scored 60's and 59's in those final 3 legs but he didn't.He had done his job and the arm just switches off.If you think that was bad at doubles this round will show he's a bad small finisher as he's done many a time at the BDO Champs over the past few years. Bar that can some-one teach the ITV cameramen to follow the darts as they're all over the place and keep missing checkouts and the first 2 darts in a 180.Warriner-Little as a caller has been miles off, often sending the cameramen to the wrong part of the board. He's been cack at finishing for the last few years so how he's an expert caller is beyond me.Now that Parts knocked out I'd love him to get back in the commentary box as he's the best in the business at working out where the players are going. I also think he believes he's the next Sid Waddell with his cheesy comments on anything. If he says i'll put a flake in it(on 99) one more time i'm liable to ram a flake into his nose and ears.
  2. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Hamilton v Taylor 10 Pts Hamilton +5.5 legs. 1.71(5/7) Betfair Hamilton seems to love this venue and bar and is averaging nigh on a hundred for the tournament so far.Last nights nine dart shootout should have given Hamilton extreme confidence as it was under massive pressure. With his high scoring he should be able to keep pace with Taylor like he did for 20 legs in last years final.he needs 5 legs to land this bet and he should with ease. 2 Pts Hamilton to win 12/1 Betfair. No-one with this much talent should be this price even against Taylor in a longer format and at this price it's too much value just to leave alone

  3. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Webster to win. 10pts 6/5 Ladbrokes. The match of Champions BDO v PDC is an interesting affair.Websters now got through to the knockout rounds and this is where he plays his best darts,he struggled through the group and only won one match but the pressure is really off him now as he's negotiated the tough qualifying group. At his best Webby is a consistent 180 scorer but slightly prone to stutters on his finishing but if he scores heavy enough he'll get a few bites at the cherry. Parts been unimpressive in his group matches and it would have hurt to lose to Mardle in the last match. He's not been scoring anywhere near what he can do and that gives Webby a chance to roar out infront.Part should come back at him but that should spur Webby on to raise his game the same as he did against Whitlock in the BDO final and he should just about get over the line.

  4. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Whitlock -3.5 legs 10pts 2.5(6/4) Betfair. Whitlocks been in devestating form hammering Andy Hamilton 5-1 to set up this clash with Jenkins. His scoring is there and so is his finishing.Jenkins has already beaten Taylor and thats where the problems lie. When players beat Taylor they think the jobs done and they can just coast into the next round, but lapses in concentration really hit Jenkins and although it's a knockout format I think that Whitlock will be far more focused. Jenks is no mug but when he gets behind he really beats himself up and if Whitlock reproduces the Hamilton form then he can thrash Jenks.

  5. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Right lets see where I stand in this tourney. 1.Anastasia -100 2.Whitlock +20 3.King +13.75 4.Lewis -10 5.Fitton +17.50 6.Taylor +1 7.McDine -2 8.Thornton -5 9. Newton -2 10. Anastasia -2 11 Anastasia -5 12 McDine -5 13 Ovens +10 14 Tabern + 9.09 15 Hamilton VOID 16 180's + 6.15 Leaving me -53.51 so far though thats due to Anastasia -100.

  6. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 I ain't seen it yet as I was playing dominoes:eyes, though we ragged runners up for 11 Gallon of Ale:nana:nana:nana:nana:beer:beer:beer I'll have a look at 2.00pm with the highlights. Though 2 things would spring to mind 1.Why carry through somone who you feared and might play in the quarters? 2.And would you want Nicholson through, who again you might play in the quarters, and have a baying crowd to play against? I'll put my bets up after the highlights programme, because the Hamilton 5.5 legs is up on Betfair but no prices as yet.

  7. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Tabern v Hamilton Play-Off Tabern 299 or under 10/11 Sporting Odds 10Pts Hamilton 299 or under 10/11 Sporting Odds 10Pts This is going to be a tense affair and the pressure is like nothing they'll have ever experienced before. It'll be like going for a match winning double on every single one of the 9 darts, and we've seen people miles off when going for those,so expect proper pub darts on this. 3 tons is a big ask then in these circumstances and i really can't see anything over 260 max from both players. EDIT: 180's under 0.5 8/13 SkyBet 10pts As said before with the massive pressure they'll be luck to get 2 straight darts so to score a 180 would be like hitting a nine-dart finish.

  8. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 10pts Ovens -2.5 legs to beat De Ruiter. Evens Bet Direct Ovens was unlucky to catch Wade in imperious form but his scoring has been consistent through-out the first two matches, where as Ruiter looks like he hasn't played for a few months.Even with the pressure off Ruiter he doesn't look like he's going to score properly.Ovens who needs a win to qualify should bring out his "A" game and can comfortable beat Ruiter here

  9. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

Bit off topic but anyone know what Jenkins did to get suspended..?
If I can remember rightly it was in Germany for being drunk and effing and blinding at officials and people. Though when he played his first match in this tourny after his first warm up darts i could clearly hear him telling Russ Bray "This is fcuking noisy" though he should get away with that one.
  10. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

Anyone see past a Jenkins (Andy) and Tabern double? Nixon has only won one leg in his two games, he is out and although Jenkins is through he should still want to do enough to win this game and make it 3/3 after beating Taylor last night. Tabern has played pretty well despite losing yesterday and needs to win tonight, again against a man who is playing for nothing. Double pays around EVS.
The problem is there is no pressure on Woods or Nixon and they can just play darts, they'll want to win a game if just for pride.Tabern has to win though and theres pressure in itself. He should in all reality beat Woods so the same can be said about Jenkins with Nixon.
  11. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

It's a pub game. If you can't play with noise' date=' you can't play, and shouldn't be there. Do football crowds go quiet when a striker gets near a goal? Do boxing crowds go quiet when a fighter lines up a left hook? Tennis is just as bad, how the fcuk can crowd noise affect your stroke? As for snooker, I coughed once at a Stephen Hendry match in Peterborough. You'd have thought I'd shouted 'CNUT' at the top of my voice by the looks I got from the rest of the audience. But he still potted the ball.[/quote'] Oh Cass how wrong can you be,now i know your getting on a bit and those cauliflower ears have nigh on blocked out any hearing and a slight bit of sense;) but watch the old matches on NutsTV(yes its a yoof station but live a little Cass;)) and the crowds are roaring but when the players throw there quite as little mouses,in any concentration game the slightest noise,if your not in the right frame of mind, will knock you off your stride.Snookers played in pubs and clubs and you don't get someone going "oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" when your going for the match ball and if they did you'd be a little peeved. It happened to me yesterday as i was on a 161 checkout and one of there players coughed on everyone of my throws,he also did something worse when my mate was on the board saying in a voice everyone could hear when he was going for the match dart "this blokes had dartitus and has run out of beer he'll never hit it". His team mates were disgusted and he only narrowly avoided a damn good kicking(PS I dont condone fighting). Though back to yesterdays darts. Before i went out they hadn't got Anastasia +2.5 legs but I nearly got the outright. Also I was impressed with the crowd for the Nicholson/Fitton match:ok Though the comment Fitton made the day before that he'd have to get used to these crowds made me think and I asked one of the BDO secretaries wether he'd be moving over and with a big grin on his face he said "No comment". So Fitton should be moving over and so would I think Anderson this year, which would also mean Robson as well. Also theres a big rumour that O'Shea could be switching as well due to him not getting ranked in the masters. If this all happens the PDC events will become much tougher and more great betting opportunities(If only I could get them right:lol) I'm leaving today alone as i'm relying on my group bets to see if i've owt to bet with this week:lol Good Luck all and well done on the winners so far.:ok
  12. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

Sharpy, you had Anastasia at +4 legs and she lost 5-1. Do you get your stake back on that? Kev, 3 from 4 yesterday including the 170. Good start:ok
Nah matey it included the draw, thank goodness I'm nearly skint as it means I can't afford to buy Razor Blades,Bottles of Pills or a length of rope;) I'm gonna miss most of the action today as i'm playing superleague in a couple of hours and if one cnut boo's me onstage expect to see me on the front page of The Lancashire Telegraph:lol
  13. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Bar Anastasia every bet is still on but today will sort out nearly everything and the standard should improve in the Loser v Loser matches today as if they lose this one bar a miracle there out of the tourny. Though i'm still sticking with Anastasia and 5pts at 9-2 Sporting Odds to beat Mardle who just looks like he's completely lost the plot and 5pts on McDine 5/4 Stanjames to beat Part who was damn lucky against Anastasia as he was all over the place. The most interesting match tonight is Fitton v Nicholson and I wouldn't be surprised if they both walked off the stage tonight. Interesting that my gut instinct bets are working better than my reasoning bets, maybe thats the future:lol Nice call Kev on McDine,Wade and the 170:ok And Woody on the Fitton,McDine:ok

  14. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Ohhhh my head..............:( Ohhhh my wallet.............:( Well that was a horrendous day and Blackburn lost too:( Though thats the insane game that is darts:lol Anastasia had her chances but how can you compensate for a bunch of feckin tossers in the crowd. On her first leg when she was setting up the checkout they were wolf-whistling ,again, whilst she was throwing and it just ended up like a feckin pantomime show. This I think has put off most of the players and thats why we saw some shite darts throughout,Fitton summed it up perfectly when he said that in any other events security would kick these people out. Now ITV aren't really helping by shoving the camera into the crowd just for the feckers to get up and scream and shout whilst the players are throwing. Mason and Warriners' comments on how people have paid good money to come and see this and the players should put up with it is so feckin stupid it beggars belief because its having the counter effect on the darts.I remember on a couple of occasions these two have thrown there toys out of the pram when this happened to them. Nicholsons treatment was horrendous and again they said he shouldn't have wound up the crowd but before the match started they were shouting and screaming "who are ya" and to boo him on the double to win was one of the worst things i've ever seen.I'd have walked off stage each and everytime they did it.Though I notice they kept quite as mouses when Taylor was throwing, proving these people don't actually care about darts at all they just want to get shite-faced and get on TV.

  15. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

I know nothing about darts but I have picked out some of the favorites, do you guys think these are all very likely:
    John Part v Anastasia DobromyslovaJohn PartHead-to-Head 1.10
    Phil Taylor v Phil NixonPhil TaylorHead-to-Head 1.05
    Mark Webster v Colin McGarryMark WebsterHead-to-Head 1.10
James Wade v Niels De RuiterJames WadeHead-to-Head 1.10
    Gary Anderson v Paul NicholsonGary AndersonHead-to-Head 1.10
    Raymond Barneveld v Kirk ShepherdRaymond BarneveldHead-to-Head 1.10
I'd say theres nowt wrong with those as they all seem to be bang on. Barney looked a bit shaky but he hates the crowds like that but he should see through against Kirk "The Tosser" Shepherd.Taylor,Wade and Webster played very well and Anderson should beat Nicholson. Though i'm now starting to think Anastasia has a very good chance of actually beating Part. She showed some great form infront of a crowd that showed no respect to the players,I Know it was Pro-Celeb but i'm expecting that all week from a bunch of wannabe tossers:@ they were even wolf-whistling whilst she was throwing:@. So i'm having a cheeky 2pt Anastasia 7.6/1 BetDaq to beat Part
  16. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

Always liked Gary Anderson from the BDO section. Remember him getting beat in a close semi final against Phil Taylor a year or two back. Anyone know what hes playing like at the minute? At 12/1 should I get a run for my money or should I play safe and go each way as he's likely to be against Phil Taylor in the final should be progress...
Anderson can beat the best of them as proved in the Topic or World Darts Trophy last year I think where he beat Taylor then and was only just edged out by Taylor,in the semis 13-11, in the inaugural event last year. He's always in good form but his first match is always a worry. He'll be there or there abouts at the end of it all and in the longer format he's a match for anyone. But with Taylor in ominous form and with the backing of every crowd he'll be all out to win this one.Kev's right though he's in the tough side of the draw with Wade,Barney,Lewis,Thornton i'd rather go E/W with 4 places but no-one seems to be doing that:( If you fancy it go with your heart:ok
  17. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 For the other groups i'm having some gut-instinct betting with no reasoning. Group A. Hmmmmmmmmmm 10pts Taylor 1/9 Ladbrokes. Not really worth a bet but a pounds a pound.:ok Group D. 2pts McDine 11/4 VC. Purely on last years event. Group E. 5pts Thornton 11/8 Sporting Odds. Purely on this years form. Group F. 2pts Newton 5/1 Ladbrokes.Played well to get here and battered me in a local game,he must be favourite then:lol Which leaves me 30pts to have a bet on some of the first round matches which i'll have a do at later or early tomorrow.

  18. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Group H Darryl Fitton 5pts 7/2 Betfred Another tricky little group containing 3 outstanding players Anderson is probably 2nd only in the World to Phil Taylor and is again another blessed with natural talent and his scoring power is phenominal, but Anderson seems to struggle in his first round matches on TV.He'll set off at a blistering pace but then seems to go wayward on his doubles. In this event last year he was beaten 5-1 in the first game by Kevin Painter but ultimately got through to the semis and was narrowly beaten by Taylor. Painter is again a great scorer but can go wayward on his doubles if he's not in the right mood. Not in the best form of late but can still pull games out of the bag and might tie up a couple of players. Nicholson is relatively unknown but he qualified for this by being the top player in Australia. But I haven't a clue how good he is because i've never seen him play. Fitton though has struggled recently with back problems this season but on his day he's a monsterous score who at one stage held the highest average in TV event at 113.Was only beaten in the BDO Masters by Robert Thornton, but i would put that down to only having 30mins to recouperate after a titanic tussle in the semis. He's back in form though having finished runner up in the Northern Irish Masters where he was only just beaten by Stephen Bunting, but on good authority he was untouchable in the first few rounds.

  19. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Group G Lewis 10 pts 6/4 Betfred Wades form is erratic at the moment but a recent win in Holland has given him renewed confidence, but even though he prefers matches in legs he was knocked out of the online COD with some abyssmal performances even finishing bottom completely in his 2nd group match. Will be there or there abouts. Ovens played some great darts,on stage,in his 1st round match at the European Champs but again struggled to maintain that form in the second round and it goes to prove that he doesn't seem to have the bottle for the stage game. De-Ruiter has only qualified for this by getting to the BDO semis 2 years ago in what was an erratic tourny at the best of times. He suffers from vertigo and last year in the BDO's he was leaning over almost at a right-angle to throw his darts, hes been out of form this year and shouldn't be in the running for this Lewis recently beat Ovens in the ECOP and that was with some erratic finishing where I don't think he hit his favoured double top at all.Blessed with natural talent and phenominal scoring, shown when thrashing Barney in the ECOP 9-2 with a 108 average.Head and shoulders above the rest and in the OCOD he thrashed Wade 5-2 which included a nine darter so on form alone he really should be favourite from this group.

  20. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Group C Mervyn King 10pts 11/8 Betfred Not the toughest group on paper but some containing some players that are hitting form. Webster is the current BDO World Champ and is a fantastic player at the best of times, but some shakey performances against unknowns nearly derailed him last year.Suffers from nerves early on and berates himself badly when things aren't going in and thats why he was outplayed in this event last year. Van Gerwen really is a mixed bag at the moment and he could be the danger in this group. Can play exceptional one minute and then piss poor the next,he's hit a decent bit of form in the recent players champs in Holland ,and an unranked event(missing most of the top players) in Ireland but Hollands where he really plays his best games. McGarry is another unknown quantity but he came through the tough qualifier to get into this event but his scoring and finishing can be erratic.Never to be ruled out as we found with McDine last year who also won through the qualifier and played fantastic throughout. King though is in exceptional form at the moment, winning recently in Holland. In a similar format with the online Championship of darts he battered most of the opposition and got through to the final where he was only just beaten,7-5, by some unknown called Phil Taylor;).High scoring Merv can take out some massive finishes and with confidence running high at the moment he definately be up for this.

  21. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4

100pts :eek Good luck Sharpe. :ok
Cheers fella,if it all goes tits up I've always said Christmas is over-rated;) And it's nice to see as soon as I placed the bet the price dropped to 15/8 and now it's as short as 13/8. Group Bets Group B Winner Simon Whitlock 5pts 4/1 Betfred An interesting group that throws up last years runner-up in the GSOD,Hamilton,Debutant Tabern, and Whitlock and Woods who played each other in the semi-finals of the BDO Champs. Taberns played well in the online Championship of darts and is going well on TV of late but he still seems to suffer the wobbles when getting close to the big games. Hamilton is as consistent as ever but he has the habit of relaxing when he's infront and thats cost him many a time. Woods(or Pecker as he's affectionately known)has great natural talent and some of the performances he put in at the BDO champs last year were astonishing and he could trouble a couple of these, but he's useless at counting and often leaves himself on odd checkouts and weird double choices. Which leaves Whitlock, now this man is the most focused darts player i've ever seen and whether it's playing for a drink or the World Championship this bloke never gives up.He knows when a darts going to block his next shot and can switch to 19's or 18's with deadly accuracy and he's the best counter in the game at present knowing instantly which shot to leave from six darts back. He's fresh and can be devastating at times and in an odd old group at 4/1 he's well worth a shot.
  22. Re: Grand Slam Of Darts:Starts 15th Nov ITV4 Part v Dobromyslova 100 Pts Dobromyslova +4 legs 2/1 StanJames (Includes the draw) I'm jumping on this one straight away as this price is unbelievable. The bookies have priced this up thinking Anastasia is out of her league, but thats their big mistake.Anastasia is the current BDO Womens World Champion so she knows how to perform on the big stage with the bright lights after battering Trina Gulliver in last years final, and thats no mean feat. She played in the Pub Qualifiers of the PDC's UK Open and won through a tough qualifying tourney where she only dropped 2 legs.Having qualified she drew Robert Thornton in the first round and only just lost out in a tight match 6-5. To win this bet she only has to take 2 legs and with Part still not firing on all cylinders and also the "playing a women" mentality(i.e not wanting to look a pillock) then the bookies are in a lot of trouble. I never really break the rule of more than 10pts but this is a big mistake by the bookies in my opinion and i'm quite happy to stake a wedge load on this bet.
