  1. Re: Group D > 22 October (Bordeaux, Club Bruges, Maritimo, Newcastle) Club Brugge - Bordeaux I'm a Bruges fan so my bets are based on what I've seen from them. Bordeaux: Cédric Carrasso, Mariano, Henrique, Marc Planus, Benoît Trémoulinas, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Ludovic Sané, Jaroslav Plašil, Landry N'Guemo, Nicolas Maurice-Belay, Cheick Tidiane Diabaté Club Brugge: Vladan Kujovic, Carl Hoefkens, Michael Almebäck, Jordi Figueras, Bart Buysse, Jesper Jørgensen, Ryan Donk, Jonathan Blondel, Lior Refaelov, Carlos Bacca, Maxime Lestienne The players from Bruges seem to be delighted with the new coach Garrido and his approach. However it has yet to be seen if any magic has already occurred. This weekends 2-6 vs a crappy Waasland-Beveren side is not a good reference. Let's not forget Bruges had a horrible last month and still suffers from long-term injuries of Stenmann, Vazquez, Zimling & Larssen. Don't know if anyone can fix Bruges defencive problems atm. On the other hand with striker Carlos Bacca Bruges has a great treasure in front. Bruges will have more possession than in the reverse fixture and hence more chances but Bordeaux still is a class above belgian standards. Even with some 2nd choice players they can hurt Bruges a lot. In order to still be able to advance in this group Bruges must win so I expect them to take lots of risks near the end of the match if they are not winning. Im leaning towards goals here and I take over 2.5 at 1.94 with unibet 5/10 Bacca to score anytime at 2.7 unibet 1/10

  2. Re: Group G > 22 November (FC Basel, Genk, Sporting, Video Fehervar) Videoton - Genk Genk; Kristof Van Hout, Daní Fernández, Anele Ngongca, Nadson, Katuku Tshimanga, Thomas Buffel, Khaleem Hyland, Julien Gorius, Steven Joseph-Monrose, Jelle Vossen, Glynor Plet Videoton; Mladen Bozovic, Alvaro Brachi, Marco Caneira, Paulo Vinicius, Roland Szolnoki, Filipe Oliveira, Nikola Mitrovic, György Sándor, Renato Neto, Ádám Gyurcsó, Nemanja Nikolic Atm Genk is the strongest team of this group and they have the more attractive football to show. They are always in for an open game. Both Basel & Sporting are under-par this campaign and Genk were very unlucky not to win their away-fixtures vs them. On a longer term it confirms the tradition that Genk has difficulties to take a win abroad in European comp. Videoton's home-records are remarkable to say the least. The question is, will Genk be in such great form that they will be the first team in 16 years to take 3 points from Videoton? I'm not so sure, Genk may be 'unlucky' once again. Videoton already showed they have firepower. Altough they didn't score in the reverse fixture they had some real chances, they won't miss em today. In national league Genk recorded w2 d5 l1 so far this season. They scored & conceded in every away-game this season in national & international leagues. I am confident Genk will score, they will be sharp and eager to secure qualification; I am confident Genk's defence will not be perfect. I think at least one goal at either side. I take both teams score: yes at 1.7 with local bookie 8/10 Tiny stake on draw at 3.30 1/10

  3. Re: International Friendlies > 2012 Romania - Belgium romania: Tatarusanu, Luchin, Chichires, Goian, Radu, Torje, Pintilii, Bouceanu, Tanase, Grozav, Marica belgium: gk Mignolet, defence: Gillet, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, midfield: Defour, Witsel, Fellaini, attack: Mertens, De Bruyne, Benteke Apart from gk Thibaut Courtois & Daniel Van Buyten this is my favourite national line-up. Defour, Witsel & Fellaini have played together for such a long time at standard and although they all play abroad nowadays it's still an oiled machine. Recent form suggests they are stronger than ever before. In front my favourite wingers Mertens & De Bruyne. They will show very good pace and technical skills. It's a true delight to watch them play. I have no real fav striker. I think Benteke, Vossen, Lukaku are equally skilled but Benteke has played together with De Bruyne at RC Genk and they know where to find eachother on the pitch so that's a good thing. Daniel Van Buyten is getting some playtime due to his bench-status at Bayern. I'd say that's a liability but then again last year he scored against Romania & he's allways there at set pieces so who knows? Last year these two teams met in a friendly fixture in Belgium. The match ended in 2-1 but the score could've easily been higher because a goal was disallowed for offside and a penalty was missed. We saw 2 teams with lot's of intentions going forward and I think this game will be no different. But I believe Belgium with get the best of it. With this squad I can't see Belgium lose this game. As stated before Wilmots is aiming a better fifa ranking and I think the team will be well motivated to give their best. I think the fact that many players finally got rewarded for their efforts with some lucrative deals in the EPL has given them some new sense of self-awareness. They no longer feel the need to be aknowledged. In stead they measure themselves with some of the best players in the world every day and realise they may be considered world class players too. As a team they are maturing, taking things in their own hands and are playing a very dominant game. Because of that & because of statistics I really fancy them to take the lead and try to control the game in the second half. If Romania was to score a goal today I think their best chances lie in the second half when Belgium has released the throttle and concentration is going down. In the last 2 years Belgium scored first in about 70% of the games played. That's enough for me to back Belgium to score first at evens. In the games they did not score first they mostly conceded an early goal in the 1st 15min (Croatia, Montenegro, Greece). In that aspect I think this is an even better live bet when the score is still 0-0 after 20 minutes of play. When looking back at the game vs Romania last year I would say goals are very likely but Belgium's away & home records are 2 different things. Abroad Belgium tends to play for the result, at home they must entertain. I take Belgium to score first (first goal 1x2 with x being no goals but I don't believe in 0-0 here) at 2 unibet live it will prob be around 1.75 unless one of the teams takes a furious start (which could well be the case, we'll see) anyone knows who's the referee?

  4. Re: Belgium > Jupiler League > 2012/13 Fedar, what you say about standard is true. However, Cercle already had a lot of misfortune this season and imo Gudjohnsen will be a huge reinforcement for Cercle. the handicap against Cercle has been a winner in 5 of 11 pro league fixtures this year. I fancy over 2.5 @ 7/11 betfair: 9/11 matches of standard have been over 2.5 (6/11 over 3.5) while 8/11 matches of Cercle have been over 2.5 (4/11 over 3.5). Looks like another over 2.5 to me. Maybe a tiny stake on over 3.5 @ 19/12 betfair.

  5. Re: Group D > 25 October (Bordeaux, Club Bruges, Maritimo, Newcastle) Newcastle - Bruges I am a Belgian & Bruges fan so my bet is mainly based on my knowledge of Club. I sincerely believe Bruges players & staff don't think about getting anything from tonight's match in Newcastle. Club's moral isn't that great, there are some issues in the locker room and they still have major injury problems. Considering they have a very important ('must win') fixture this weekend at home against a decent Lokeren, I expect another experimental line-up with only one goal in mind: limiting the damage. They will be happy to not lose 4-0 as they did in Bordeaux. Most of Bruges defence is second choice (Almeback, Figueras, Buysse) and they are underperforming. The GK Jorgacevic looks very shaky lately, especially on free kicks. No matter what Newcastle's starting 11 is they will out-skill Bruges in any position and have plenty of opportunities to score. I think they can easily score 2 or 3 goals. Bruges only real thread comes from Bacca nowadays. He is definitely someone to watch out for on the goalscorer markets! Wouldn't be surprised if he scores one, gets rejected for off-sid e and then replay shows us he was on. Seen it a dozen of times, he plays so on the edge that the linesmen just pull up the flag whenever they doubt the situation. All together considering Bruges moral, form, injury-list & the fact that Bruges' budget is like 1/5 of Newcastle's I can't even see them getting a draw. Add to that the home advantage and I'm happy to take Newcastle on a handicap. Newcastle (-1) @ 2.60 Unibet

  6. Re: Group D > 4 October (Bordeaux, Club Bruges, Maritimo, Newcastle) Bruges - Maritimo I've seen a lot of Bruges matches lately and I'm quite confident they can knock themselves back into this competition. Last Europa league match in Bordeaux was a disaster. It was perhaps an offday, a very good day for Bordeaux and most likely due to an enormous injury list. A little bit earlier the CL-qualifier home game vs Copenhagen went wrong but don't let that mislead you, they should've won. Bruges starting 11 has been different in almost every match this season due to injuries but there is good news too. Some benchsitters (Buysse, Lestienne) have proven to be more than just substitutes and injured regulars such as Ryan Donk are getting fit again. Also Vadis Odjidja who missed a transfer to Everton by minutes has his focus & condition back in shape. We'll see a much stronger Club thursday than in Bordeaux. There has been a little incident at Jan Breydelstadion last week (players not greeting the fans) and some rumours in the papers about a bad atmosphere but I believe none of that & it only reminded the players even more about giving everything on the pitch. There is some healthy tension in the team that is not to be overlooked, they will be hungry for revenge in EL. It is worth noting that Club Bruges has an even more challenging fixture this weekend vs Genk. In the eyes of the trainer that's a more important match but this one is a crucial test and potential confidence-tanker. It is very possible Ryan Donk will come back from injury and that's a huge step up in quality for Bruges defence. It's by far Bruges main issue. They don't have a problem to score goals but they concede in nearly every match. Keep an eye on Bacca 21/10 & LESTIENNE 4/1 @bet365 in the goalscorer market!!!!!! I don't know much about Maritimo but they have gifted technical players and at moments play a very fast game. Maritimo is known for it's excellent home records, the fact that the climat on the island fatigues visiting teams has a bit to do with that. On the road their records are less impressive & recent results in primeira liga aren't encouraging either. I assume they will approach Bruges with a decent amount of respect and try to hold it tight at the back, breaking out with a severe counterattack now & then. Bruges likes to play a dominating game at home and it pays but they are very vulnerable at the back and it shows. So I believe Club Bruges home win or both teams to score is a good bet.

  7. Re: World Cup Qualifiers > Europe - Sep 7/8 Hi, I've been reading these pages for some time now and I'd like to thank everybody who's contributing to these forums. I intend to become a little bit more active too. As a belgian I'm very much looking forward to our national team tonight. Belgian squad: Courtois; Gillet (will have lot's of work stopping Bale and this is prob the weakest link in the team) Kompany, Vermaelen, Vertonghen; Witsel, Dembélé & Fellaini on midfield. Mirallas, Hazard, Mertens in attack. Without a doubt the strongest starting 11 possible. It seems to me that they will rip the Welsch b-defence apart. Nevertheless I also fancy Wales to score at least one as belgium has a habit of losing concentration when they nick one in and Wales has the qualities on the counterattack. I took Belgium at a local bookie @ 1.80 10/10 Over 2.5 looks tasty too
