Sport Ice Hockey

Event Vitkovice Steel - Sparta Prague

Selection Sparta Prague (Money Line)

Strength 10/10

Date 31/01/2012

Bookmaker/Price Sportingbet @ 2.00

Reasoning Very interesting match in the czech Tipsport Extraliga with the Sparta Prague heading to ?EZ Aréna to meet the Vitkovice Steel for the 4th time this season after winning the first three in a clear fashion (by at least 2 goals). Sparta is now leading the league with 92 points and in great form even though last round they snapped a 8-game winning streak with an overtime loss against the Kometa Brno at home, 4-5. Vitkovice remains a force in the league this season as well, now ranking 6th with 67 points, with their 4th win of their last 5 games at home in the previous round against Kladno, 4-3 after penalty shots on road. Just by looking at the stats you can clearly see that Sparta`s straight is really on road where they are best in the league, even though just with 2 points difference then what they gained at home, they are more successfull offensively and deffensively then at Tipsport Arena (Sparta home ice). Last season Vitkovice was winning all 4 encounters with Sparta but it looks like the team from Prague is trying to "retur de favor", now with 3 wins in the first 3 matches. I think at this point if there is a good "risk" to take in this meeting (counting the fact that Vitkovice are slight favorites), I think to pick Sparta Prague to win is a good one.
Sport Ice Hockey

Event Kosice - Skalica

Selection 1

Strength 10/10

Date 31/01/2012

Bookmaker/Price Betsson @ 1.75

Reasoning Today in the slovakian Slovnaft Extraliga the leader HC Kosice will be hosting Skalica at Steel Aréna. In the first four meetings of the season between the two, both won two times, once at home and once on road. This will be an interesting match-up between the 1st place Kosice and 3rd place Skalica, two teams that score many goals per game, actually the 1st and 2nd offense in the league at the moment. Kosice is coming after their 11th win of their last 12 games, on road at Martin by 3-2. On the other side Skalica is rounding some wins after an ugly 5-game losing streak, last time at home against modest Zilina, 6-3, 3rd win of their last 5 games. One thing is certain with Skalica, best offense in the league but when it comes to road games they aren`t that efficient, actually they are on a bad streak right now losing their last 6 in a row. My pick in this match will be for Kosice to win counting the fact that they are 3rd best in the league in home games, winning 5 of their last 6, having to face a team that last time they beat 9-3 (on road), Skalica.
Sport Ice Hockey

Event AIK - Vaxjo Lakers

Selection AIK -1.5 (Asian-handicap)

Strength 10/10

Date 31/01/2012

Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 2.80

Reasoning The Vaxjo Lakers will head to Hovet Arena to take on the AIK for the 4th time this season and hope for the 3 points in this meeting after winning 2 of the first 3. Faith isn`t really on the Lakers side, to be exact they are on a run for a playoff spot (9th), 1 points shy of 8th position (last for the playoff), now occupied by MODO but they have now lost 3 of their last 4 and will be coming with a very long list of missing players: Nils Andersson, Tom Linder, Marcus Johansson, Robin Dahse, Jan Urbas, Mike Iggulden and Johan Andersson. On the other side AIK is 7th right now but still needing to secure its place, coming from an important win in the Stockholm derby against Djurgarden, 4-3OT and so snapping a 2-game losing streak. For this home game the AIK will have Daniel Bang, Christian Sandberg and David Lilliestrom-Karlsson out. Despite the fact that Vaxjo got 5 points (out of 8) in the first 3 meetings of the season against AIK this doesn`t look that bright for them, coming to this one with 2 straight road losses where they have been outscored 10-4. I will pick AIK for a clear win in this one counting the fact that they are hot lately at Hovet where they have won 5 of the last 6 (4 of them by 2 or more goals) and of course the roster difficulties of the Lakers. Previous three enocunters this season all gone Linkopings way but this time I will bet on Brynas who is the 2nd best team in the league in home games, 11-2-1-6, with a 5-game winning streak. Linkoping despite the 4 wins in the last 5 games push for the playoffs they are still very week when on foreign ground, 2nd worst to be exact, with -15 in goals, losing 3 of their last 4. I will pick Brynas for a clear win today.

This match doesn`t really find the Freezers in a good "mood", coming from their 4th loss in a row, last time in Dusseldorf against the Metro Stars, 0-4. On the other side Ingolstad is being constant, now ranking 2nd in the league 3 points shy of the leader Eisbaren Berling, snapping a 3-game winning streak last time with a loss in Munchen, 2-3OT. Last time these two met here at Saturn Arena the ERC were winning 4-0 and now they will bring a 8-game winning streak on home ice against Hamburg who is one of the weekest team in the league in road games, 6-1-2-9 record and -21 in goals, losing their last 3 in a row, and that is 3 shutouts, outscored 12 to 0. My pick is for Ingolstadt ERC to win it by 2 or more goals.

This time the situation will be different Fribourg is the revelation of this season, now ranking 3rd, 3 points less then the leader Zug, coming from their 2nd loss, at home against Davos, 1-4. In the first three meetings between these two there was only one winner, Fribourg (twice at home and once on road) and I wouldn`t be surprised if they would win it now as well with Ambri losing their last 4 straight home games, adding of course to the weekest record that they allready have in that category. I will pick Fribourg who I think found a good match to end the losing streak and counting the fact that Ambri has lost their last 3 by 2 or more goals, I believe that is possible here as well. Win by 2 or more Fribourg.

This will be the 4th meeting of the two this season with Riga leading 2-1 after the first two. Both teams are close in the Western Conference, Dinamo 7th with 62 points and CSKA 8th with 59. A thing is certain so far this season, Riga has done most of the damage when on road and CSKA was more constant where they were on home ice and what I can tell to make the difference in this one is that Dinamo hasn`t lost this season on home ice against them. Last meeting between Dinamo and CSKA at Arena Riga finished 5-3 in favor of the home side. To straighten somewhat this pick, Dinamo Riga has now won 2 straight at home while CSKA has lost 4 of their last 5 road games. My pick in this one will be for the Dinamo Riga to win it by 2 or more goals against CSKA who has one of the weekest defense in the league on road.

The score in head-to-head is 6-4 in favor of Nole, both winning 2 in the last 4 meetings. Murray couldn`t have started the year better, 11-0 and allready with a tournament won in Brisbane, beating Dolgopolov in the final in straight sets. The only set he lost so far here at Melbourne was in the first round against the young american Ryan Harrison, a very talented player that I`m not surprised that he did, even against Andy, then Vasselin, Llodra (Kukushkin retired) and Nishikori. On the other side Djokovic now number 1 in the world 5-0 this year, beating Lorenzi, Giraldo, Mahut, Hewitt and Ferrer in the previous rounds. In this meeting although Nole is very hot, not long ago dethroned Nadal from the top spot but what I observe in the meetings between these two is that in the last 6 meetings the player who has been successful was Murray, winning 4 times against just 2 of the serbian. Everybody knows the deffensive skills of Andy and I believe he can make a good match here and win it.

This will be the 4th meeting of the season between the two with Djurgardens leading by 2-1 after the first three. AIK is aiming for their 2nd straight year in a row in the playoffs after they came back in the Elitserien last season, now ranking 6th with 59 points, coming from a 2nd straight loss, on road against Timra, 0-1OT. For this match the hosting team will miss Sandberg, Steen and Karlsson. On the other side Djurgardens is having a modest season, 10th in the league right now with 58 points with the worst defense in the league, coming from just their 2nd win in their last 5 games, at home against Farjestads, 2-1OT. For this road game the Djurgardens won`t have players like Tjarnqvust and Zibanejad. One thing is certain the Djurgardens made most of their points on home ice (36 out of 58), where they won their last 2 in a row, but now they will head on road where they are none other then penultimate, 3-5-3-8, 44:65 and last but not least they are on a 3-game losing streak where they were outscored 11-1, that adding to their weekest defense that they have in that category. In the first match here at Hovet, AIK were crushing the Djurgardens by a score of 5-0 and I believe that there is a good chance that that could happen now as well. AIK who are better so far in home games with +14 in goals and won 5 of their last 6 (the last 4 of them by 2 or more goals) will take on Djurgardens who are at their worst so far on road with -21 goals, losing their last 3 in a row, so I think the hosts in this one could win it by 2 or more goals. This will be the 4th meeting between the two with Kvitova leading 2-1 in head to head, with a retirement from the russian in their last meeting in 2011. I see Sharapova very motivated and unlike other players like Ivanovic for example (who were number 1 WTA) the russian still brings it, reaching the quarterfinals in her first tournament of the season after beating Dulko, Hampton, Kerber, Lisicki and Makarova, so a 5-0 record to start the year. On the other side Kvitova has for sure reached another level as many players could of beaten her 3-4 years ago and now not getting even close. Unlike Sharapova, the czech is playing her 2nd tournament of the season, first at Sydney where she stopped in the semis losing to the experienced chinese player Na Li, winning the first set just to lose the next to. Here in Melbourne she beat Dushevina, Navarro, Kirilenko and Errani. I really do like Sharapova keeping the pace and aiming for that top spot and I think with just 1 set given up this far at the Australian Open, I say that she feels good here, a tournament that she won in the past (2008). I see Sharapova still competitive, the current ranking proves it and Kvitova has shown in the past that she could be inconsistant at times and against an experienced opponent like this I think she could lose. I will go even further and bet on a straight sets win for Sharapova as even though Kvitova has proven worthy, I still find her not that convincing on hardcourt outdoors. So win in straight sets by Maria Sharapova.

Lulea is now ranked 2nd in the league with 71 points, coming from a win, 2nd win in a row, at home against the Frolunda, 2-1. Today they will miss players like Sami Sandell, Mattias Persson, Niclas Wallin, Chris and Cam Abbott. On the other side Linkopings has started something, now ranking 11th in the league with 56 points, on a 3-game winning streak, last time beating the Farjestads on road 3-2. The only one missing in this one from Linkopings will be Mickael Hakanson. Counting the fact the current injuries from both teams I believe that Lulea won`t have that easy mission in this road game against Linkopings who have now won 3 of their last 4 at Cloetta Center, all by 2 or more goals. Linkopings really need points and I think they can profit from the opponents lack of players and win it clearly. Win by 2 or more goals Linkopings is my pick.

Buffalo now just 19-24-5, bottom of the Eastern Conference going through a tough period, on a 5-game losing streak (all on road) last time at St. Louis by 2-4. This time as well the Sabres will have to deal with many injuries, having Stuart, Tropp, Ennis, McNabb, Gaustad, Boyes out, while Brennan, Erhoff and Regehr are questionable. On the other side New Jersey doing a decent job so far, 26-19-2, 7th in the East, coming from their 2nd loss in a row, at home against the Flyers, 1-4. The Devils will be without Zajac, Green and Tallinder for this one. Two teams that have gone down recently but still in these conditions I can`t favor the Sabres who not only are on a 5-game losing streak and they lack many important players, but they are one of the weekest team in road games in the league with 8-15-0, losing their last 12 in a row. Although the Devils aren`t that good on home ice so far, this time they will have to deal with a team in a very poor form who has lost their last 12 road games, 11 by 2 or more goals. Counting these facts along with the fact that New Jersey won in the first two meetings of the season 5-3 and 3-1 (in both situation without empty net goal), I think there is a good chance for them to win this clearly as well. Win by 2 or more goals for New Jersey Devils is my pick.

I think the situation will be different first of all she will play against a lefty and 2nd I believe that the players that the italian met so far don`t have Kvitova`s serve.....and why not the level that she reached.... (a little example: beating Ivanovic for the first time in her career after losing the first 3)
  14. Re: EUROPEAN ICE HOCKEY - JAN 2012 Sport Ice Hockey Event Sonderjylland - Rodovre Selection Sonderjylland -1.5 (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 24/01/2012 Bookmaker/Price Sportingbet @ 1.85 Reasoning With not much time left in the regular season both teams look pretty confortable at the moment meeting now for the 5th time. In the previous four Sonderjylland won 3 times (4-1 and 5-3 at home, 5-2 on road), all in regular time, while Rodovre won once after overtime at home. Despite the fact that both are in the top3 (Soderjylland 1st and Rodovre 3rd) the difference is pretty big, with Sonderjylland being the dominant team in the danish AL-Bank Ligaen for the past 4 years in the regular season and even winning the playoff twice. Sonderjylland is now running on a 8-game winning streak, last time beating the Hvidovre, 3-2OT at home. The situation in the meetings between these two haven`t changed for quite some time now, Sonderjylland winning 15 of the last 18. Counting the fact that (not surprisingly) Sonderjylland is the best in the league in home games with 12-2-0-2 record (that means they lost only 2 times in 16 games played) best offense and best defense in that category, I think they have a good chance of winning it clearly against Rodovre who despite the recent 4-game winning streak, they will have to play much more to get anything out of this. Win by 2 or more goals Sonderjylland is my pick.

  15. Re: NHL regular season 2011/2012

    Sport Ice Hockey
Event Detroit Red Wings - St. Louis Blues
Selection Detroit Red Wings -1.5 (Asian-handicap)
    Strength 10/10
    Date 24/01/2012
    Bookmaker/Price Nordicbet @ 3.00
Reasoning I will get this one while its still "raw" because I believe there`s a pretty good chance this could happend. The Blues will head to Joe Louis Arena to close this season series against the Red Wings with the score 2-2 after the first four. Detroit, 32-15-1, has take over the Western Conferece, helped by the small inconsistancy of the Canucks, now on a 6-game winning streak, last time at home against the Blue Jackets 3-2OT. This should be a motivating factor because the Wings will only miss one player from the whole roster, Patrick Eaves due to a fractured jaw. On the other side, St. Louis, 29-12-6, 4th in the West and keeping the pace, ending a 5-game home stand with a 4-game winning streak, last time beating the Buffalo Sabres, 4-2. Huskins will be out for the Blues in this one, while Steen and McDonald are questionable. One undisputed fact so far for the St. Louis Blues are their force on home ice where they are best in the league (21-3-3, 80:48 goals) I`m sure because of the croud support that pumps up the players. But when they head on road the situation chances and they fall into the lower half of the league with only 8-9-3 and 41:48 goals. In the first four meeting of the season between the two, both teams won their home games (STL 2-1 and 3-2 / DET 3-2 and 3-0) and that is no surprise because Detroit is up there when it comes to home ice as well, 3rd in the league to be exact (19-2-1, 87:38 goals) and on a 16-game winning streak. I think in these conditions Detroit is the favorite and counting the fact that they will have only 1 player missing from the whole roster I believe that they can do their home arena magic and win it by two or more goals. So win by 2 or more goals for the Detroit Red Wings is my pick.

    Selection 1
    Strength 10/10
    Date 23/01/2012
    Bookmaker/Price Boylesports @ 4.80
Reasoning Round of 16 at the Australian Open (men) with one of the most interesting match of the day to be played on Hisense Arena between the japanese Kei Nishikori and frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Nishikori is probably the most promicing japanese player at the moment, ranking 26th in the world making a huge leap from outside the top100 into the top50 just in 2 years. First, 2nd and 3rd round he beat Robert, Ebden and Benneteau surprisingly the most "difficult" being Ebden who really streched the japanese player for a 5-setter (coming back from 1-2 down to win two straight 6-1 sets). On the other side Tsonga doesn`t really need any description, big server, very strong forehand, ranked 6th in the world coming to this match with a 8-2 record with a title allready under his belt, at Doha where he beat fellow countryman Monfils in straight sets. In the previous rounds he beat Istomin, Mello and Gil, weeker opponents then he will be facing today. Just like other young promicing players in the ATP circuit there is no chance to underestimate him, even more on hardcourt, his main surface where in the last 3 years he beat players like Djokovic, Tsonga, Roddick and Berdych (all with higher rankings then him). Along with the fact that Nishikori has allready beat Tsonga 2 times in the last 2 months I will base this on the wildness of the frenchman at times, mostly on his backhand that affects his game. Win Nishikori is my pick.

Reasoning The Washington Capitals will head to Consol Energy Center to close this season series against the Pittsburgh Penguins with the score 2-1 in favor of the Caps after the first three. Pittsburgh, 26-17-4, 6th in the Eastern Conference with 56 points rounding up some good matches lately which put them on a 5-game winning streak, last time coming back at home against the Canadiens from 1-3 and 2-4 to win it 5-4 after penalty shots. Petersen, Despres, Crosby and Staal will be out for the Pens while Bortuzzo is questionable. On the other side Washington, 25-19-2, 8th in the Eastern Conference with 52 points got their 2nd loss of their last 3 in Carolina, 0-3. For this one they will still miss key players Backstrom and Green along with Poti. Although the Caps are a formidable team on home ice, 17-6-1 (4th best in the league) when it comes to road games they are close to the opposite, just 8-13-1 and -17 goals (compared to +15 goals at home). So counting the fact that the Penguins have recovered Letang who allready rounded up 3 points for the team in his last 2 games from his cameback I think they can profit from this good form they are showing lately on home ice (winning their last 2 in a row after a 4-game losing streak). With Crosby missing, Malkin has taken over the leader spot for the team with most goals and assists at Pittsburgh. My pick in this one will be for the Pittsburgh Penguins to win it clearly (by 2 or more goals) taking advantage of the instability of the Capitals in road games who so far won only 8 out of the 20.

Reasoning Today I propose a match from the czech Extraliga where the Plzen "Indians" will be hosting a team against they had surprisingly limited success this season despite the difference in the standings, Kometa Brno. Plzen is now ranking 2nd in the league, 21-6-6-8 record, getting just their 3rd losing streak of the season after in the last round they gave it up on road to the Vitkovice Steel, 3-5. On the other side Brno is only 10th with 13-5-4-18, big difference and despite that they have managed to win 3 of their last 4, last time at home against Trinec by 1-0. Like I said Plzen had limited success this season losing the only meeting here in Plzen to Kometa by a surprising 1-6. Although Kometa has now won 3 out of the last 4, they still remain one of the weekest in the league in road games, 4-2-2-12 facing none other than the best team in the league in home games Plzen who has the best offense by far in this category. My guess will be that in this match Plzen could win it by 2 or more goals and at the same time get payback and snap out of this losing streak. Plzen is +34 in goals on home ice while Brno is -20 when on road so I think there is a good chance.

Reasoning Today in the round of 16 of the Australian Open (ladies) german Julia Goerges will take on Agnieszka Radwanska for the first time in her career. Counting this fact I wouldn`t give that big price for Goerges who is now ranked 23rd in the world and an over the average server. Radwanska is now 6-1 this season having a decent run here but so far no reall challenge at all (she beat Mattek, Ormaechea and Voskoboeva). On the other side Julie went through Hercog, Daniilidou and Oprandi. The german can be very effective mainly on hard where her serve could be at her best and even though Agnieszka is one of the best defensive player in the world with a very decent serve that made her enter in the top10 WTA, I have to give some credit to Goerges who is the player who is coming from behind and coming hard. I will take Julia Goerges for this meeting.

Reasoning The San Jose Sharks will head to Rogers Arena to end this season series against the Vancouver Canucks with just 1 win after the first 3 meetings (VAN 3-2 and 3-2O on road, SJS 3-2 on road). Vancouver is now ranked 2nd in the West with 60 points, 28-15-4 record, coming from their 2nd loss in a row (both at home), this time against the Los Angeles Kings, 2-3OT. Pinizzotto, Volpatti and Ebbett will still be out for this one, while Sami Salo is questionable. San Jose, 3rd in the league, 26-13-5, looking like they ended their excelent 10-2-1 period by losing their 2nd of their last 3 games, at home against the hot Ottawa Senators, 1-4. Sheppard and Havlat will be out for the Sharks with the unfortunate chance for Clowe as well who allready missed the last 2 games. My guess is that the Vancouver Canucks need to step it up after losing 3 of their last 4 at Rogers Arena and I think that they will have a good chance against the Sharks who recently ended a good period and are now going the other way. Counting the fact that Vancouver will have their main players led by the Sedin brothers Henrik (11+41) and Daniel (20+30), I think that they can get a clear win out of this as odds have allready started dropping for this type of bet.

Reasoning Three big clashes will be played today in the NHL in which none of them is more interesting then the other. I decided to look into the one at TD Garden where the Boston Bruins will meet the New York Rangers for just the first time this season. The Bruins are still doing their stuff, 30-13-1, 2nd in the East coming from a comeback win over the New Jersey Devils, 4-1 on road. For this meeting Boston has recovered the speedy Marchand but still with Savard out. On the other side the Rangers, 29-12-4 have taken over, now leading the East with 62 points (1 more then Boston) going through an inconsistent period where they won only twice in the last five games, last time giving it up on home ice to the Pittsburgh for a 1-4 loss. For this road game they will still miss Eminger, Sauer and Woywitka while Richards despite missing practice is ready to play against the Bruins. This should be interesting because so far Boston has made it clear that their strenght lies on home ice, with a 16-7-1 record and 87:48 goals (+41) while the Rangers are still the dangerous team on road for last season (currently having a better record so far then at home) with a 15-7-2 record and 64:52 goals (+12). Counting the fact the inconsistancy in results of the Rangers I will go in this one with the Bruins who look sharper, healthier, winning 6 of their last 7 at TD Garden. Win Boston Bruins.

    Strength 10/10
    Date 21/01/2012
    Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.95
Reasoning Today I chose a match from the 2nd ice hockey league of the Czech Republic at Zimní stadion Olomouc where the HC Olomouc will be hosting the Litomerice team. This will be their 4th meeting of the season with so far the Olomouc leading the series by 2-1 overall (last 2 in a row). Olomouc belongs to the upper side of the league table, more exactly 3rd with 80 points, 23-3-5-9 record and 135:90 goals, coming from a loss last tima at Kadan 3-7 which ended a 3-game winning streak. On the other side we have Litomerice a team that currently is ranked 8th, last spot for the playoff, with 53 points, 14-4-3-19 record, snapped a 2-game winning streak last time at home with a win over the Hradek Kralove by 4-2. Despite the fact that Litomerice, a modest team who 4 rounds ago beat Chomutov at home, 5-4 they show not that convincing stats when on road, just 6 wins in 20 games ( from which 12 losses were in regular time) with 42:64 goals, one of the weekest ofense and deffense in that category. In this meeting I will coung on the very strong force of Olomouc on home ice who is very close competing with the best in the league (Usti and Chomutov), now 3rd best with 15-1-3-1 record, 75:27 goals, that is one of the best offense and by far the best defense. So I see a better hosting team winning this as they are on a 7-game winnings streak on home ice. Litomerice has lost 4 of their last 5 games so I think a win by 2 or more goals for Olomouc is good for this match.

    Bookmaker/Price Paddy Power @ 1.72
Reasoning In the 3rd round of the ladies side of the Australian Open we have an interesting encounter between the romanian Sorana Carstea and italian Sara Errani. Carstea who is now ranked 59th in the world has made good impression from the start by beating the nr. 6 seed in the first round Sam Stosur, most definitely the big cround favorite in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, followed by U. Radwanska, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. On the other side, Errani world number 48 and allready know in the circuit as a player who compensates for a week service with aggressiveness and frequent changes in pace and height of the ball. The little italian went through the over top100 player Savinykh followed by the "veteran" Petrova, both in straight sets (never giving up more then 2 game per set). They will be meeting for the 4th time with the italian leading 2-1 in head-to-head, winning the last 2 in a row. I think that will be an even more challenge then the players the romanian met so far because now she has to confirm this surprising form that wasn`t with her in the last year. My guess that the Errani will once again dictate the terms and has a chance of beating Carstea for the 3rd straight time in her career. Win Sara Errani.
