  1. Re: Synchronised ~ Would you run him in the National? Awful, but there did seem to be some poor fencing today as a poster said earlier. According to Pete didn't even fall he was brought down and I am not sure if Synchronised didn't get up run loose and fall on the 11th (I think), I just watched the reply there is a lose horse that jumps that badly and lands on or close to that fence and appears to damage its leg. I have always enjoyed the National, but the start was mayhem full of nerves. I don't believe there are enough escapes on the course, but some loose horses will jump on regardless. The race seems to be run at a far faster pace than it was a number of years back. Not sure what the answer is, but sadly I can see the day when it is no longer run

  2. Re: Favourite Horse Ever.... One Flat, One Jumps - that is all!!

Flat _ Njinsky Dad took me to the Derby when I was about 7 and the talked about horse was Njinsky- being &7 I wanted to know what Njinsky meant and was told it was the name of a dancer. It won the Derby in true style and then I loved watching it race thereafter as I had seen it live in a crowd of around 100,000- Magic! NH- Red Rum, Backed it when I was about 8 or first bet really and was delighted when I got over a fiver back and then backed it no matter what it did always each way then, but the horse always tried its heart out and that's why I loved it.
Wow, just watched that Derby on youtube again, no wonder I was captivated by the sport!

  4. Re: Is there anyway of downloading days runners to spreadsheet?

Would save me soooooo much time... I subscribe to the racingpost.com and am well au fait with ATR and Racing UK websites but am unaware of anything that could help... Has anyone come across such a service or option? I guess printing the racecards out is going to be my option but just wanted to check there wasn't a better way. Thanks for your time:D
copy and paste cards from the racing post then edit spreadsheet
  5. Re: BKI's Betting Log I did some ante posts for the first time as a result of being inspired by the thread - I had Rock on Ruby, Sprinter Sacre, Cinders and Ashes, Simonsig, Brindisi Breeze, Salsify based on performances I liked - had I bet on the day I think only Sprinter and Salsify would have survived. I had Rubi Light, although didn't go for Synchronised when he beat Rubi in the Lexus as I thought lOng Run and Kauro would be better Did have some winners on the day, such as Sir De Champs. I liked Hunt Ball, but was worried about the weight, but when I saw the actual race had a very narrow handicap- 10lbs from memory I think I can do better next time, missed Riverside for the same reason, but I can learn from that Was able to trade on horses like Menorah and tried to do the same with Dynaste less success there and had some good trades on the Triumph as that was so unpredictable this year. Conclusion is I will do this again, so thanks BKI & mileni for inspiring me

  6. Re: JTW1's Specialisation - Trends

ARKLE TROPHY ------------------ 19/21 were rated 150+ 11/11 were returned at odds at 11/1 or Under , in fact if i've got it right this stat goes back at least 20 years. However only 2 favs have won in those 20 runnings. 10/11 had finished in the first 2 in ALL completed Chase's 10/11 had won a Grade 1 or 2 Chase [9/10 had been 1st or 2nd in a Grade 1 or 2 Hurdle] 10/11 were rated 140+ over hurdles 7/11 had previously won at Cheltenham [ 2 were making their course debut] Applying the first 5 Trends leaves us with SPRINTER SACRE and CUE CARD . The last leaves us facing the fact that SPRINTER SACRE failed to stay on after last in the Supreme Novices here last season while CUE CARD has won twice , albeit over Hurdles and in the Bumper. With that doubt mind coupled with the poor record of the Favourite i'm going for CUE CARD @ 6/1
Love these trends JTW, does the fact this race is shorter than the Supreme and is over fences should mean a less frenetic pace than the Supreme make a difference?
  7. Re: Cpo's Horse Racing Thread

3.30 Exeter Drybrook Bedouin 1.5pts EW @ 10/1 Ladbrokes Going to take a chance on the Nick Mitchell trained Drybrook Bedouin who goes well at the track. He does have to put a poor effort at Wetherby behind him but he may have found the ground softer than ideal that day and I am willing to give him another chance back at Exeter. His record at the track reads 2-3-1-1 with one of those wins coming over CD. He actually ran in this race last year off a 7lb lower mark and did well to finish 3rd. He followed that with a dismal effort at Wincanton where he was pulled up before going on to win next time out over CD by 13 lengths. It looks very similar to his prep for this race as he won at the track over 4m a couple of runs ago before putting in that poor effort at Wincanton. S Clements is back on board today, which will be because he claims 7lbs and has won on the horse in the past. Interestingly enough when this horse won over 4m a couple of runs ago Nick Schofield was on board and he won that day off 117. Today he runs off 123 but the jockey claims 7lbs so he is effectively 1lb lower for this race. I do think this race will have been the target and I would not be surprised to see a much better run from him. Last year’s winner Ammunition is now a 12 year old and although he runs here off the same mark, I am happy to take him on with the yard not really firing yet. Alderluck is another joint favourite but he has plenty of weight to carry and has to prove himself over this trip. Upham Atom needed every bit of the trip last time out and should go well if he is fully over those exertions. Diamond Brook has to improve on his 2 latest runs but it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if he were to do so. Flying Squad goes for the in form Susan Gardner and can’t be totally dismissed and Mortimers Cross is chasing a hat trick. It looks a competitive race but Drybrook Bedouin loves the track and I am hopeful that will give him the edge over his rivals.
Took a look at this race earlier and your selection and Ammunition stood out for me, I really can't have Upham Atom as it is too soon after the recent exertions at Folkestone
  8. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 8 March

PSV Eindhoven really is overpriced here. Valencia isn't playing that good' date=' and will perhaps underestimate PSV. While PSV plays very good at the Europe League, they are also 1st in the Eredivisie. I think there is Value here for PSV.[/quote'] I know little about Dutch football and whether any players were rested, but I couldn't help noticing that psv lost 6-2 at home at the weekend, which would make me nervous. I think Valencia were too strong for Stoke in the last round and can see why it has been priced up. greatful for any input
  9. Re: Cpo's Horse Racing Thread Cheers CPO put Benbens Aerial Ozare (didn't win) and Pepite Rose(mine) in a Lucky 15 today on Betfair this morning at some nice odds 12. 6 and 3s on the winnrers Nice day on the footy with laying Liverpool and backing Ipswich, Charlton & Palace Did have a bad day on Friday though

  10. Re: *NEW* - Eyecatchers thread - horses to follow/avoid

Horses Name: Oiseau De Nuit Date(s) you noticed the horse: 07/04/11 Aintree Ideal Conditions:good ground Ideal Trip:2M 2M5 Follow/Avoid (for how long): Follow next time out Reasoning: This horse ran an amazing race last time at Aintree , the jockey lost an iron early in the race , got left well behind , ran on from miles back to get 2nd , had no right getting 2nd , this run came after scooting home at the Cheltenham festival a few weeks earlier .
Beauchamp Castle 1/3/12 Standard Polytack Kempton Next time out Class 6 Ideal Trip 1m or longer Very eyecatching filly with long stride looks to have a future
  11. Re: Fri: 3.20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup I was impressed with Burton Port today at Newbury. After such a long absence it was worth an interest was given a patient ride by Gerraghty and I could see it being ridden out in March- seemed to be gaining on Long Run on the run in, 14 on betfair and 12s with a number of the major bookmakers. Will be in single figures on the day as alternatives to the front 2 are sought. Still want Kauto to do it though
