Catalina Castano is a typical claycourter, but she plays well on hard too. At the begining of the year she was a semifinalist of Canberra Open, later on she won against Dushevina at Australian Open. After some claycourt tournaments Castano returned to hard last week. She lost in first round against Meng Yuan in two. Now, she will play against out-of form Ekatharina Bychkova. Castano has overall record this year 9-7 and Bychkova 4-6. Bychkova had no major success this year. Latelly, she is losing against names like Yvonne meusBurger, Melinda Czink, Shennay Perry... Bychkova played only one tournament this month. It was in Indian Wells where she won in first round against Henryeta Nagyova but lost to Marion Bartoli. So, Ekatharina bychkova is totally out of form, on the other hand Castano is improving step by step, day by day, and I don't believe that Bychkova improved her tennis in last days so she can give a great match to Catalina Castano. No previous meetings. -

Mikhail Youznhy is quite good hard court player. After losing in first round of Indian Wells to very good Kevin Kim he will play against Greg Rusedski today. These two guys already met once, it was on carpet and Mikhail took that match 3-6 6-3 6-4. Youzhny had some really good moments during 2006 like when he reached semifinals in Dubai and lost to Roger Federer. Before he lost to Federer he won against very good players like Hrbaty, Andreev and Olivier Rochus. On the other side Greg Rusedski is playing more and more poor. Of course, he has no major success this season. His record this season in only 2-4. In last weeks he was losing to old granpa Agassi and young boy Stanislas Wawrinka. Mikhail Younzhny is much better player, with much more condition than Greg and in a much, much better form. He mustn't have any problems defeating Greg Rusedski. Full stake for me. -

Both guys are claycourters, but Calleri is a little bit better on hard than Monaco, what more, Calleri is much more expirienced than young Monaco. After claycout part of the season in South Africa and tournament in Acapulco, Monaco didn't play at all. So, this will be first hardcourt tournament for him after Australian Open. On the other hand, Calleri is doing good on hard. He played in Indian Wells and lost in a really hard battle against Chilean Nicolas Massu. Sanja Ancic is a girl from Split, Croatia. She has only 16 years, and of course without any success. Sanja is on 314 position in the word and this will be her debut on professional tennis scene. Sanja is younger sister of Mario Ancic croatian big tennis player. And I think that this is they key reason why she got a wildcard here. She cannot even reach main draw in challenger series. And this speaks a lot for her. On the other hand Benesova is very good player. She is on 33rd position in the world and a winner of Hobart Open this year. Imo, Benesova will take this with one or two dropped games. -

Fabrice Santoro made a great start at the begining of the season reaching quarter finals of Australian Open. On his was to qf's he defeated Spadea, Pavel, Gaudio and Ferrer. Finally, he lost to David Nalbandian. Since Australian Open he had no bigger success. He played in Marseille defeating Johansson Thomas and Rusedski but losing to Clement. Still, last week Santoro lost to Xavier Malisse in Indian Wells 1-6 6-4 4-6. Karlovic has 9-8 win/loss record. He is in a little better form than his today's opponent but he struggles a lot playing three sets encounters. Ivo played great some weeks ago in Las Vegas when he reached semi finals. Last week, Ivo Karlovic played Sunrise challenger and reached semifinals. During this tournament he played four matches, eleven sets and crazy nine tiebreaks! In quarterfinals against Mayer and semifinals against Tursunov he played six sets and all six were tiebreaks, amazing... Also, Ivo Karlovic is big, giant server who bases his tennis on big serve & 'easy' points finished after two or three hits. But, this surface is a little bit slower so he won't have a great advantage of his serve. For me, Santoro is a better player, but when I compare Santoro's out-of form and Karlovic's style of play...logical consequence for me is Over 24.5 Games. -

Sport Tennis Event Kim vs Melzer Selection Kim to win Strength 8/10 Date 22/03/2006 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.00 (Back) Reasoning Jurgen Melzer with a 1-7 win/loss record for this year will play against American Kevin Kim. Well, this will be a bet against Melzer. Melzer has no major success in professional tennis in last two or three years. Right now, he is losing against every player... His last win was in January against Chela. Since then he lost to players like: Hewitt, Ginperi, Ancic, Verdasco, Olivier Rochus, Soderling. On the other hand, Kim is doing quite good at the moment. He played second round of Australian Open, won a challenger in Dallas, tried to play claycourt tournaments but finally returned to America to play hardcourt tournaments. And he is doing good now... He reached main draw in Indian Wells defeating Sargisian and Garcia Lopez, in main draw he won against Youznhy in two and lost to Gasquet. In my oppinion, Melzer can only dream defeating those players. Still, Kim played great during qualifying rounds for Nasdaq Open. In first round he won against Nathan Healey 6-0 6-3 and yesterday he defeated Marcos Daniel 3-6 6-3 6-2. So, when we look at the form of both players we see big advantage of Kevin Kim + his own crowd + nice odds make this a must bet. -

Eleni Daniliidou is in a great form, she has 5 wins in a row. And she even doesn't remember last time when she lost in qualification round. She is a first seed her and she demolished Prat last night. tonight, she is playing against poor, poor, Rodionova... Rodionova who just plays this round becoz her opponent retired last night when the result was 5-5 in the first set. Rodionova has no major success in WTA, Daniliodou is in a great form, and I contunue betting on her. -

Just like Gimelstob, another American hardcourter. This is the part of the season when Bogomolov can show everything he knows, as he is low ranked player but he gets his chance when playing in US through wildcards. Bogomolov demolished yesterday 24th seed Delgado Ramon 6-0 6-4. Bogomolov has no succes this year. Only success was coming to Australian Open from qualifying rounds and beating Fernando Gonzalez 4-6 7-6(6) 6-3 6-7(3) 7-5, in second round of AO he lost to Henri-Mathieu in three. On the other hand Mertinak is even worse. He still has no wins at ATP tournaments this year, only one loss. In fact, he struggles a lot i order to reach main draw. Last week Mertinak played in Ho chi Min, but without any success. He lost in first round to Cecil Mamiit 6-7(6) 1-6. Last night, Mertinak won over Razvan Sabau 6-4 5-7 6-3. And Sabau is totally out of form. Bogomolov is playing in front of his audience, if he continues to perform like he did yesterday, he'll be in the main draw in no time. -

Justin Gimesltob won yesterday against Harel Levy 6-4 7-5. Levy was they best player in pre-qualifications losing only three games in three matches. On the other hand, German Berrer topped nameless Mexican player Santiago Gonzales 7-5 6-2. Justin Gimesltob is typical American hardcourter. This year he has overall score 4-6 on ATP Tournaments. He has wins over Waske, Udomchoke, Armado, Kubot, Feliciano Lopez. Last week he reached second round of Indian Wells from qualifiaction rounds. He was better than Armado and Kubot in two. In first round he won against Feliciano Lopez 7-5 6-3, but lost in second against David Nalbandian 4-6 4-6. It's obvious that Gimelstob enjoys this part of the season. On the other side, Berrer has only 1-2 record this year. Latelly, Berrer is without any better result. He lost in first round of Belgare Open to out of form Llodra. Last week he played at Sunrise challenger but lost in first round to Stefan Koubek 7-6(4) 4-6 2-6. I expect American player to win this match without a lot of problems. He is in good form and playing in front of his audience should help him beating under-average Berrer. -

:notworthySport Tennis Event ATP Miami Open Selection GREUL D Mello Strength 10/10 Date 21/03/2006 Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.84 (Back) Reasoning Ricardo Mello won yesterday against Rainer Schuettler 6-3 2-1 ret. Of course, in fact Schuettler retired to him. But, Mello took the first set and I belive, it just a reflection of Schuetler's injury, not Mello's great play. Mello is a typical claycourter and it doesn't make a lot sense for him to play qualifiaction round for this (hardcourt) tournament when he can play good on claycourt challenger. So, Mello didn't play on hard for a long time. He played three claycourt tournemants, but without any success. Still, during the hardcourt season he had no wins. In fact, Mello didn't win a game on hard since August last year! Greul on the other hand is a hardcourt player. Greaul at least has some good displays at hard. He played last week at Sunrise challenger and he won against Robin Vik and Falla but failed against Andreas Seppi. Greul won this year on hard names like Vicente, Pashanski and Fish, which means a lot comparing to Mello's nothing. Last night Greul won against Adrian Garcia 6-3 6-3. I belive in Dallas tonight. New Jersey Nets are on the great run. Four wins in a row. With a four wins in a row Nets are finding themselves sitting confidently at the top of the Atlantic division and on the third position together with Cleveland. New Orleans, Portland, Houston and Los Angeles Lakers were just easy opponents to New Jersey. The key of their success was great defence and low scoring games... Well, I doubt they will stop Dallas tonight. I expect the opposite, Dallas win and high scoring game. Jason Kidd is doing his job in defence quite good but on the other side during last four games Kidd is shooting just 27 percent (9-for-33) over that span, but hes handed out 10.0 assists in those games, including 14 against the Lakers. Dallas on th other side has three wins in a row, Cleveland, Houston & Washington. Last two games Mavs played were away- against Houston 95-81 and Washington 104-94. Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points apiece, and the Dallas Mavericks pulled away in the second half for a 104-94 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night. Dallas Mavs are much different team than the teams New Jersey Nets win against. Dallas, in great form, struggling to hold down the first position in West against mediocre team... Mavs win. -

Her first serve percentage is more than poor and Ana Ivanovic was very unlucky not to use this advantage as much as she could. Last night, Justine Henin was playing great against Elena, but she injured herself during the second set and finally she lost. On the other hand, Maria Sharapova is playing better and better and after yesterday's win over Martina Hingis I believe she will take Indian Wells tonight without any problem. -

Overall Demi has 12-3 win/loss record this season, but she isn't that good as the stats are showing. Dementieva started this season with a loss in first round of Australian Open. Before Indian Wells Dementieva won Tokyo Open and reached quarterfinals in Paris and semies in Antwerp. Dementieva didn't show great tennis in Indian Wells. She struggled in first two rounds against Yakimova and Sania Mirza. In third round Dementieva won over Na Li in two. Elena Dementieva is serving very, very poor... She had 16 double faults against Yakimova, 17 double faults against Mirza and eleven against Na Li. Her first serve percentage didn't get better than 57% in all three matches. On the other hand, Ana Ivanovic is playing quite good at the moment. Still, she has pretty lucky draw. She won against Bremond 6-3 6-2, Perry 6-1 6-3 and in third round Chakvetadze 6-3 6-3. Ana is serving much better than Dementieva and this court fits her great, she had great return in match against Chakvetadze and if she plays tonight like she did two days ago I expekt her win and a very close match. They didn't play so far -

This will be a Croatian derby. Mario Ancic had quite a good season so far, he has two finals, Marseille and Rotherdam. Now, he won against Davide Sanguinetti and Paul-Henri Mathieu in Indianapolis. I must say that both of them are out of form and Mario struggled against both. On the other hand Ivo Ljubicic is looking like in a better form.. He finally started playing good on Grand Slams, and now he has very good wins against solid Tipsarevic and out of form Monflis. H2H is in Ljubo's favour, Ljubo leads 2-1, but Mario won last match. Tonight, I expect another win from big Croat Ljubo and his through to the quarters. :wall -

"She's going to be at the top as soon as she plays more and more."Finally, Hingis won 6-3 1-6 6-2. Before this game against Lindsay, Martina won over Pin and Bammer, both in straight sets. On the other hand, Safina is doing quite good at the moment. She has 11-5 record this year and looks like in a very good form. She defeated Samantha Stosur 6-3 6-2, Meng Yuan 6-3 6-1 and Anastacia Myskina 6-1 6-3. So, Martina Hingis is winning but she doesn't have a lot powerfull hits during the match, and on the other hand Safina is in a very good form. I expect very close match, Safina to take at least one set will be my first choice here as she has good chances to take the match too. And, Over 20.5 Games looks very attractive to me as I doubt this will be two sets encounter.

After a loss against Tau Lietuvos dropped to 1-2 and now, they have very weak chances to reach Final Four in Prague. Cska Moscow are very well known as the most defensive team in Europe. First game Cska and Rytas played ended 48-66 in Cska's favour. Tonight, I expect the same. Cska has very great defence, and I Rytas won't have any chance. Double digits win for Cska should be very realistic here, IMO. -

Hapoel Mingdal & Roma Lottomatica also played togther in their preliminary group and this will be their fourth meeting this season. Roma leads 2-1 but everything that counts will be tonight's match. And Roma travels to Jerusalem with a eight points advantage. The winner will face either Dyanmo Moscow or Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the semis. Hapoel lost by eight points but they led midway through the fourth quarter, but Roma went on a 13-2 run to win. Now, Roma will have much harder work to do as I don't believe they can produce such a good run during they game as they will play in Jerusalem, one of the hottest places to play. -

Last match they played in Belgarde and Dynamo won 86-87, Ruben Douglas led the winners with 24 points, including the game-winning free throw with 17 seconds to go.
