ReasoningVliegen is a very good player. He has 27-18 this season, which is a great record. Latelly, he isn't in a best form, but he showed improvement in his last tournament before US Open. He won against Gicquel and lost to Roddick 4-6, 4-6. On the other side, Kubot is typical claycourter and I really don't believe he can damage Vliegen today. Benedikt Dorsch won against Kubot in his last hard match this season.

Reasoning Mayer is in a great form. He has 19-16 this season and is playing great latelly. Firstly, Mayer played quarterfinals of Stuttgart Open, then he won Tampere challenger, was a finalist in Sopot and two weeks before he won Graz challenger on hard. In first round he will play against 29 years old Koubek. KOubek has only 8-5 this season. He had nice performances in Zagreb, back in April, but he is without any better result latelly. He also struggled to reach main draw as he won against Faurel in three hard fought sets. So, I really cannot see Koubek winning against such a in-form player.

ReasoningMara Santangelo is playing better and better this season. She has 25-19 records and is improving her tennis tournament by tournament. Last week she even won against Anastacia Myskina in three and for sure will look to have one of the best US Opens so far. On the other side, Lisa Raymond is 33 and she is playing doubles much better then singles. So, she is losing against any better opponent. So, she is losing latelly against Morigami, Penetta, Hantuchova and Santangelo is just their class. So, I expect easy win for Mara Santangelo here.

ReasoningJuan Martin Del Potro is improving day by day. He is really playing really good tennis on clay and hard. For example. he just won Segovia tournament defeating names like Bozoljac, Verdasco, Norman and Becker. Also, he did great at qualifying rounds of AO. So, he has eight wins in a row and is looking really hot at the moment. Falla also played US q rounds but he didn't impress. Also, before uS open he had some pretty poor peformances like losing to Lee twice, Mahut etc. Del Potro is hot favourite right now, and I don't see any chance for Falla today.

ReasoningMonfils is good player and he will face up against Russel today. Russel is playing mostly challengers in US without any success. He isn't capable of beating players like Monfils, although he did good in qualifying rounds. Also, Monfils was injured for a lot of time, but now hhe seems to be back and better.

ReasoningMax Mirnyi was in poor form back last two -three months, but now he seems getting better and better. Giant server will have a lot of advantages here comparing to Moodie. They are both great servers, but Mirnyi is much better when we don't look serve only. I believe this will be easy win for him.

ReasoningMyskina is better player, but she is totally overrated here. Odds on here are around 1.27 are too low. Myskina didn't impress latelly. She played finals in Stockholm, but lost two matches since she came to US. She lost to Peer and Santangelo. On the other hand, Azarenka isn't playing better tennis than Myskina, but for sure she will have chances today. They already playeed two games, and both times it was really closed match: 2006 Miami 32 Hard (O) A.MYSKINA 6-3 7-5 2006 Rome 64 Clay (O) A.MYSKINA 6-3 3-6 7-6(6)

ReasoningTatiana Poutchek played quite well before US Open. She was a finalist at Bronx challenger, but when she faces up against any better opponent she is losing. For example, Schruff, Savchuk, CHan, Spears were better than her. On the other side, Fedak isn't in a best form. But, Poutchek is right opponent for her to show everything she can. Poutchek is overrated here, this should be 50-50 match, most likelly ending in three sets.

SelectionJackson to win 2-0 in sets (Lay)
    Strength10/10
    Date29/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.84 (Lay)
ReasoningPironkova has 16-12 this season. Of course, this is best season for her so far. She started very well defeating Venus Williams at AO. But, Pironkova has been playing very well latelly, too. She reached semies in Stockholm defeating names like Vierin, Castano, Li and lost to Zheng in two. On the other side, Jackson Jamea has 17-15 this season and should be a slight favourite. She was playing in US whole summer. But, she didn't impress a lot. She was losing against names like Pennetta and Hantuchova. While she had to play three sets against players like Diaz-Oliva, Flipkens etc. Imo, 50-50 so I really don't believe that young Pironkova will lose this in two.

    Strength10/10
    Date29/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.36 (Lay)
ReasoningMilagros Sequera has 26 years, but without any better result so far. She has 4-4 record this season. She had some nice performances during challenger season in US, and was more than great at qualifying rounds on US open. She will face Nicole Prat now. Pratt has 33 years and I really don't believe that she can totally out play in-form player. Pratt also played q rounds at US open, but wasn't so good as Milagros. Pratt is overrated here and I don't believe she can take this in two.

    Strength10/10
    Date29/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.00 (Lay)
ReasoningRoberta Vinci was in great form at the begining of the season, but somehow she is underperforming latelly. She played nice tennis on hard, but latelly she played clay only. So, she still didn't play any game on US hardcourt tournaments, and this might be dissadvantage for her. But, at least she improved her tennis and reached quarter-finals of Palermo. Also, Roberta Vinci already won against Shaughnessy this season. It was at AO in January, two sets. Also, Meghan didn't impress too much. She was losing against names like Yakimova, Mirza, Vesnina...so I see value in laying her win in two sets.

ReasoningElena Likhovtseva isn't in a best shape. She played only two tournaments and lost both in first round. Firstly, she lost to Ruano Pacual then to Schiavone. And overall, she didn't make any better result for a long time. Tin-Tian Sun is playing better and better. Last week she won Patty Schyder and in second round played a three setter game against Samantha Stosur. Imo, can't be two sets game for Russian lady.

    SelectionFerrer to win
    Strength10/10
    Date22/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 1.93 (Back)
ReasoningAfter a lot of thinking I decided to go with this bet. Firstly, US Open is just around the corner, only five days left and I really don't like taking bets at tournaments which are one week before Grand Slams. But somehow I can't understand odds here, Ferrer is underestimated here although he is still favourite. Ferrer @ 1.88 is totally out of any logic here as I find him much better player than Mardy Fish. So, Fish played only one tournament since Wimbledon and it was in Cincinnati one week ago. Win against Nicolas Mahut in two, and lost against Fernando Gonzalez also in two can't be considered as a success. Yesterday, Mardy Fish won Davide Sanguinetti 6-3 6-3. On the other side, David Ferrer is one of the main candidates to take this tournament. Before US hardcourt tourney he won Stuttgart Open on clay. Last week he played great in Cincinnati reaching quarterfinals defeating Moya, Almagro, Baghdatis, but he lost to Fernando Gonzalez. I believe these odds are too high on Ferrer's win and are representing big value, although I'm taking it with medium stake only as US Open begins in five days.

    Date18/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.50 (Lay)
ReasoningYesterday night I had a bet against Murray and I will continue today too. Murray is exhausted, it was clearly visible last night for everyone who watched the game. On the other hand, Roddick is in good form again and for sure he has plenty of reasons to continue winning in front of his audience. So, as I said yesterday, Murray played around 13 matches in 17 days, and this cannot be continued. Roddick is more than average player on hardcourt, he has great serve, powerfull shots and he won't give a lot of chances to Murray on his own serve. Murray played quite bad last night against Ginepri, he allowed too many break chances and Robby even wasn't totally focused on this match as he said in interview after the game. With this loss he will have an extra day to see his new girlfriend, that's what he said. Roddick is more experienced, hard-worker and I believe he will give his best to win against Murray who can't be able to handle against Roddick's great serve. Murray is ehxausted, he has weak first serve and will give a lot of break opportunities to Roddick. But also, Murray won't have to many break points on Roddick's serve, these are key reasons. Can't remember when I was confident in one bet like today.

ReasoningNineteen years old boy from Scotland is playing his third tournament in a row. Firstly he was a finalist in Washington losing to Arnaud Clement in two sets. After Washington he played Canada Open reaching semifinals losing to Gasquet in two too. Now, he has something like 12 matches in sixteen days and I doubt that his weak body can handle with it. He showed already how weak he is on last year's US Open, well for sure he trained a lot since than, but I'm sure he is quite exhausted now. So, it wouldn't be smart for him to push his body even more when US open is just around the corner. Murray already struggled against Henman, the same Henman whom he won six days earlier in two sets and yesterday's game against Roger Federer was poor displays of both of them. On the other side, Robby Ginepri didn't impress this season. He is typical hardcourter, but his results in first part of the year were too bad. Now, since Wimbledon he is showing at least a little improvements. He went to semies in Indianapolis losing to Roddick, which is nice result for sure. Here in Cincinnati he won against Mathieu and Tursunov, Tursunov was beaten yesterday in two. Robby had a great season during summer last year, and a year before and for sure he is hungry for wins. For sure, he will fight for every point here and will be motivated as he is playing in front of his audience. Murray can win this only if he isn't smart enough or unexperienced.

ReasoningAfter dissapointing performace at World Cup Holland will look to bounce back against Republic of Ireland. And, looking at Irish squad, they won't have very hard job if they take this match seriously. Irish manager won't have Robbie Keane, Terry Dixon, Alan Lee, Richard Dunne, Ian Harte and Damien Duff in his squad. Six players, this is too much. Also, Shay Given is doubtful and most likely he won't play. Uff, that's too much. After all, Ireland coach will have under-average squad and his attack will be of players who are playing in Championship only. On the other side, Holland will very good squad. Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Mark Bommel aren't invited for this game, but Holland squad has enough quality players to cover these absences. Huntelar, Robben, Van Persie, Kuyt are all invited and I can see them hurting weak Irish defence meanwhile I really can't see average "Championchip" attack scoring a goal against Holland. For sure, Van Basten will have to win this match in order to reassure fans that he is still right choice. Huntelaar is already in great from as he showed it scoring against Fc Kopenhagen in Champions League. This is final opportunity for both countries to test themselves before Euro qualification rounds, also last opportunity for all players to prove themselves in front of their coaches and I believe all players will take this game seriously, especially those who are playing on Ruud Van Nisterlooy's position.

ReasoningBookies have underestimated Novak Djokovic here. He is improving his tennis everyday, it was also visible during his last performances on hard. Djokovic won Amersfoort Open and next week he already played finals in Umag. Well, he retired during first set, but that's because he was to exhausted playing games every day. But, two weeks passed since Umag finals and he is ready now, for sure. Also, hard is Novak's favourite surface and as he was doing good at Wimbledon I can't see him losing tonight. He is currently on 24th position in the world but still has a lot of to show and prove + he doesn't have a lot of points to defend until end of the year. This will be his first tournament on US hardcourt and nice preparation for US Open. On the other side, Jarrko Niemienen has a lot of potential, but somehow he is quite week personality and didn't show his best for now. He only played ATP Canada last week since he came to US from European claycourt tournaments. His performance in Canada was only average as he won against Sanguinetti, Dancevic and Gabashvili, but lost to Murray. He struggled most of the game against Sanguinetti where both of them had match points. And that match is one of the key reasons, beside Djokovic's play, which made me to take this bet.

    SelectionKostanic to win
    Strength6/10
    Date14/08/2006
    Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 2.99 (Back)
ReasoningQuite wrong odds here. Both players are in a more than poor form right now. Maria Kirilenko has some nice performances this season, but she is in a deep crise right now. She can't find a way to win any match since French Open. But, she was in a poor form even before Wimbledon. Somehow, she looks like a better doubles player to me. Anyway, she lost last five matches, Groenefeld, Suarez, Asagoe, Jankovic and Serena Williams were better than young Russian. She even didn't manage to win a single set in last five matches. On the other side, Kostanic married earlier in the summer and she can focus on tennis now. At least, I would like her to focus. Kostanic already won previous match against Kirilenko, it was in Tashkent back in 2003. After Wimbledon she took a break and returned with match against Anna Chakvetadze in San Diego. I bet on Chakvetadze in that match, but feelt quite unconfortable during match as Kostanic didn't give up easily. Last week Kostanice playied against Lucie Safarova and lost in three. I bet on Safarova in that match too, but it was totally 50-50 game. Now, I believe it's time for Kostanic to take here her first win after long pause. It won't be easy as both of them are in a really poor form, but I find that Kostanic is improving more than Kirilenko, odds are representing value for sure.

ReasoningOne of must take bets today. Hot and in-form Dmitry Tursunov will face Sebas Grosjean. They were at the same level last season when Sebas won, but all changed since than. Tursunov's serve is working much better now, he is playing more clever now, using his best weapons to overplay opponents. His serve&volley play are one of the best in the world. On the other hand, Grosjean is underperforming looking to his best days. With 33-23 win/loss record he is on 24th position right now. But, improving day by day, match by match. He has been playing in US since Wimbledon and this is big advantage for him. Finalist of Los Angeles and semifinalist of Washington lost against Federer in three sets last week. Also, he lost to Haas in Los Angeles finals, but won against him four day ago and that match showed big improvement of young Russian. Grosjean is only another boy in tennis, he is losing against any better player. He showed how weak he is when playing big servers against Moodie in Washington. Dmitry Tursunov's win shouldn't be questionable here.

ReasoningClement just won Atp title in Washington, but now is the right time when I expect him to start underperforming. Players like him are capable of making great results one day and losing against unknown players next day. Well, Lee isn't unknown at all. So, lets start, Clement did won Washington Open but he reached second round only next week in Canada. He lost to Ivo Ljubicic who is great player, but his potential isn't on highest level right now. Lee is typical hardcourter, his results are good for now. He's been in US since Wimbledon ended and already won Lexington challenger. Odds are based on recent performances of Arnaud Clemente and represent big underestimation of Lee. Lee is also hardworker, he has nice serve and net playing. His recent results are more than good including three sets loss to Tursunov. Clemente and Lee already met twice and both times Lee won. Both times in straight sets. In my oppinion, odds are too good to miss this bet.

ReasoningVliegen vs Gicquel. For me clear win for Belgium guy. Vliegen had quite nice season so far, although he made some errors latelly. He has 26-17 this year, that's great score for a player like him. It's been a long time since he went to US and practiced for US Open and hardcourt season. I believe he will bounce back today after he lost to Gremelmayr last week in two. On the other side, Marc Gicquel is average player only. This will be first match for Gicquel on hard. He had great results on clay this season, but hard is totally different story to him. Last time he played on hard was in February, and this will be the biggest advantage for Vliegen. So, Vliegen who is better player for sure, who has better serve and net playing will face up against average player who can make good results on clay only. Clear win for Kristof Vliegen here.

Reasoning Nicole Vaidisova is playing nice tennis here. Also, she has 29-10 this season and is improving day by day. But, she might feel a little tired as she had no pause since Wimbledon and already played last week in Stanford. Nicole won here against Ruano-Pascual and Daniela Hantuchova, both in two. Chakvetadze is also in a good form. She won here against Ivanovic last night, and this win shows something. They played three times: 2003 European Summer Cups, Reina/Soisbault Cup Clay (O) A.CHAKVETADZE 6-7(3) 6-4 4-6 2003 USTA International Winter Championships 16 Hard (O) N.VAIDISOVA 6-7(2) 6-1 6-2 2006 Australian Open 64 Hard (O) N.VAIDISOVA 6-2 6-1 Vaidisova is better player, but still not that better that we have only 1.20 on her win. Chakvetadze who won here Kostanic, Nadia Petrova and Ana Ivanovic can give a good match to Vaidisova, for sure. So, my main bet will be Over 19.5 games here, as I doubt this will be only 2 sets match.

ReasoningOdds are ok and we have clear favourite here. Double's couple Kubot/Marach aren't playing all tournaments together. They are changing couples as another tournament begin. Maybe 5 or 6 times per year they are playing as a double couple. On the other side we have great couple, Cermak/Friedl. Cermak/ Friedl already have good performances this season. Still they didn't troubled at all in order to progress to semies. So, they already played semies in Gstad, won Prosjetov challenger, won Acapulco, won Buenos Aires, runner-ups in Vina del Mar, Sydney. Also, I don't expect Oliver Marach to be so interested in this one as he'll have game vs Volandri before this one. Cermak/Friedl much experienced, better and in-form couple to progress.

ReasoningOliver Marach with a solid 10-11 ATP record this season will have to do a lot better until now in order to win against Volandri. He played nice in Stuttgart, but still he didn't win any hot name on clay, on the other side he lost to Acasuso. In Kitzbuhel he lost in first round to Eitzinger. In Sopot he won against Waske and Gaudio, against Gaudio in three. But these aren't some great results. Gaudio is out of form, he already struggled to Pashanski who has 12 losts in a row. Still, Volandri plays one of his favourite tournaments, he enjoys this part of the season. Last week he played semies in Umag, this week he won against Garcia-Lopez and against Gimeno-Traver. I see VOlandri as a big favourite here. Still, they played once: 2003 Heilbronn Challenger 32 Carpet (I) F.VOLANDRI 3-6 3-6

ReasoningIn-form Calleri after winning Kitzbuhel Open will play in quarterfinals of Sopot. Not that just he won Kitzbuhel, than he is playing really great in last 30 days. He reached semies of Bastad, quarters of Amersfoort, won Kitzbuhel and now is in quarters of Sopot. He has eight wins in a row and has won here Armado and Sluiter. Przysiezny is a local hope, only one remaining. He is with no bigger results in ATP tournaments. He is here only because Coria retired to him in first round. Yesterday night he somehow won against Jiri Vanek. But, I believe this is the end of him. Miracles won't happen every day in his favour.

ReasoningThis is first ATP tournament for Gambill since his injury in January. He played in qualifying rounds and won against Rastogi and Huey, but lost to Stoppini. Well, Stoppini is still in the main draw which is even better for him. In first he won against Tipsarevic in three. Well, Tipsarevic is less than a average player, but still, if he was capable of winning Tipsarevic he should be also capable of taking at least one set to Tiger Tim.

ReasoningI'm very confident on this one. Blake enjoys this part of the season when tournaments are played on American hardcourt. So, he is already in a great form having won Indianapolis Open two weeks ago. On his way to this title he was better than names like: Udomchoke, Whitehouse, Malisse, Mahut, Roddick. Still, he won Kevin Kim in second round here 7-5 3-6 6-2. On the other side, Safin struggled against Kunitsyn and Mahut, both won in three. Also, he lost to Whitehouse in Indianapolis and to Fernando Gonzalez in Los Angeles, second round. In-form and much better Blake should take this match quite easily.

ReasoningKenneth Carlsen is really enjoying his current form. After Wimbledon he came to US and played some really good tournaments on hard. Indianapolis-Stoppini and Hrbaty beaten, stopped by Muller. Than one week later he won against Srichaphan but lost to Ginepry. And now in Washington he won against Udomchoke and Srichaphan. Tonight, he'll meet Wesley Moodie. Moodie won against Querry and Sebastien Grosjean. Today, he'll have even better opponent. H2H scores: 2002 Surbiton Challenger SF Grass (O) W.MOODIE 3-6 6-7(5) 2003 Salvador 16 Hard (O) K.CARLSEN 7-5 6-7(5) 6-3 2003 Davis Cup 2003 Carpet (I) K.CARLSEN 6-7(1) 7-6(3) 6-3 6-4 2006 Surbiton Challenger QF Grass (O) W.MOODIE 3-6 6-3 3-6 I still believe that Carlsen is in better form now, and Over Games shouldn't be questionable in a game between those two players.

  24. Re: ATP Sopot/Washington & WTA San Diego 31st July - 6th August Event Hewitt vs Gremelmayr Selection Over 19.5 Games Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2006 Bookmaker/Price Gamebookers @ 1.80 (Back) Reasoning Hewitt isn't in a best shape. He did won against Spadea last night, but it was more than a poor display. Beating Spadea in three sets 6-7(3) 7-6(5) 6-4 isn't convincing at all. On the other side, Gremelmayr already won against Wesley Whitehouse (RSA) 6-2 6-2, and last night Phau 6-4 6-3. Still, Gremelmayr had nice performances at Australian Open reaching 3rd round. I believe that he can hold at least eight times to Lleyton, or make a three setter match.

Reasoning I expect very close match here. Both guys are only average players and their time already passed, at least it looks like. Hrbaty was very good player, but never established himself in top10. He played nice tennis in LA reaching semies where he lost to Haas. Before Haas game he won all opponents in two sets. Yesterday night he was better than Gilles Muller in three hard fought sets. Tonight, Arnaud Clement should give him a close match. Clement won in first round against Bahami player-Sweeting 6-2 6-1. Frenchman already played well in Marseille earlier in the season defeating names like Ancic, Gasquet, Santoro, Verdasco etc. H2H is 3-0 in Hrbaty's favour, but no match was played on hard. Still, Hrbaty is better player for me than Clement. I believe he will win this, although it won't be easy.
