  1. Re: Nap of the day 20th April 3.20 Pontefract - Barkston Ash EW @ 20/1 Bet365 Going for the outsider of the field here as I think he could get his own way up front. There are plenty in this field that will be help up for a late run so I am hopeful Barkston Ash will be able to get to the front from stall 7. It took him a couple of runs last year to get into full gear so there is every chance his first 2 runs this year will have brought him on plenty. He suffered all of last year for hammering Robot Boy at Thirsk by over 3 lengths and as a result found life a little tough from a mark of 97. He is now back down to 88, which should see him get more competitive than his 2 previous runs. He will definitely pop up at some point over the summer...hopefully tomorrow!

  2. Re: Nap of the day friday 17th april 2015 2.00 Ayr - Work in Progress 1pt win @ 5/1 Betfair Sportsbook The Skelton horses have done me a couple of favours in the last couple of days and they all seem to be running very well at the moment. This horse has shown good form this season finishing 2nd to Saint Charles at Donny and looking likely to be involved in the finish last time out at Sundown before coming down. Should go close if none the worse for that fall with the stable flying.

  3. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th April 2015 5.00 Cheltenham - A Good Skin 1pt win @ 4/1 BetVictor won really nicely last time out and looks open to further progression. Trainer is in fine form at the moment so this one looks to have a favourites chance. He is unexposed at the trip and George believes better ground will bring about more improvement.

  4. Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 15th April 2015 2.55 Newmarket - Ballymore Castle 1pt win @ 7/1 Hills The Warrior has plenty going for him here but his best form has come in soft conditions and I am happy to take him on with the Fahey horse who ran a couple of good races in big sales races last year. Hopefully he has trained on and with the Fahey horses going well, this horse wouldn't have to improve a great deal to win this race.

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 4.10 Ffos Las - Golden Milan 1pt win @ 13/2 Ladbrokes This horse absolutely hacked up last time out on his handicap debut and returning from a break. There is every chance he can show improvement with that run under his belt but he will have to after being hit hard by the handicapper. Drop slightly in trip and quicker ground might just help him. Trainer has a great record at the track and even though this is much tougher, I expect a big run from this horse.

  6. Re: Nap of the day 11th April 4.15 Aintree - Pineau de re EW @ 25/1 BetVictor (6 places) Need plenty of luck to win this one but I wouldn't be surprised to see another big showing from this horse as long as he isn't brought down or falls. He won nicely last year and has been put up 8lbs by the handicapper but this will have been the target all season and I have no doubts he will be absolutely spot on. I like the trainer and jockey and I don't think it's as hard to go back to back now they have changed the fences.

  7. Re: Nap of the Day - Friday 10th April 2015 1.40 Aintree - Dell' Arca ew @ 18/1 Hills we have seen quite a few disappointing runs from Cheltenham horses already but this horse for no further than the 4th hurdle at the festival so that shouldn't have taken much out of him. He goes in the blinkers again and he has shown some smart form over hurdles. He finished placed in a grade 1 novice event at this track so I am hopeful a return here may bring out some improvement. He wouldn't have to improve massively to get involved here.

  8. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 9th April 2015 4.05 Aintree - Neverownup EW @ 33/1 PaddyPower Trainer knows how to win this race having won it a few years ago with Silver Adonis. This horses's recent poor form has come on soft ground and I am hopeful a return to better ground will bring a much better performance out of this horse. All of his best form has come on decent ground and the step back up in trip will also help him.

  9. Re: Nap of the day wednesday 8th april 2015 2.20 Catterick - Solar Spirit 1pt win @ 6/1 Bet365 This horse has won here plenty of times in the past and does go well fresh. Trainer and jockey may not be in the best of form but both do well here and there are plenty of negatives surrounding the opposition to make Solar Spirit a solid bet for this.

  10. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 7th April 2015 4.00 Pontefract - Sennockian Star 1pt win @ 8/1 BetVictor By process of elimination I have come down on this one who I feel should run well here despite being drawn in 11. This horse ran well in this race last year on unsuitable soft ground so I am hopeful the ground will continue to dry out. He comes here fit from racing in Dubai and the Mark Johnston horses are running well. He is a few pounds below his highest winning mark from last year and should run well with Fanning on board.

  11. Re: NAP of the day - Monday 6th April 2015 5.00 Fairyhouse - She's Got Grit EW @ 33/1 Boylesports (5 places) Stamina is the only question mark for this horse here. She is ultra consistent, finishing out of the first 3 just twice form 10 runs over fences, which includes 5 wins. Adding to her consistency, she is very tough and always manages to find extra for pressure. She has won over 3m in a hunter chase on heavy ground so I would be hopeful she will stay tomorrow. She also has a feather weight and her trainer is in fine form at the moment and does well at the track.

  12. Re: Nap of the day sunday 5th april 2015 3.20 Fairyhouse - Petite Parisienne 1pt win @ 6/1 Hills This could be a cracking race with plenty in with a chance but have sided with the Willie Mullins trained Petite Parisienne. She gets a 4 year old weight allowance, which could prove crucial but she is lightly raced and open to more improvement. She finished a well beaten 4th in the Triumph at Cheltenham but was beaten by 3 very good horses and I am hopeful the step up in trip will suit. Willie Mullins continues in cracking form with 6 winners from his last 9 runners and he has taken this race in the 2 previous years. This one is the choice of Ruby Walsh and she looks to have an excellent chance.

  13. Re: Nap Of The Day - Friday 3rd April 2015 1.40 Lingfield - Fab Lolly EW @ 40/1 Hills Fab Lolly ran in this last year and finished 7th and hasn't managed to add to her win tally since that run. I think it's fair to say this years renewal is stronger so it's hard to imagine Fab Lolly winning here but at 40/1 I wouldn't be surprised see her nick a place. She has been running consistently this year and has often looked a tricky ride. On her reappearance this year she finished under 2 lengths behind Don't Be who is a 4/1 shot for this race. Yes she meets that one on much worse terms but I feel this race will suit her. In this bigger field there are plenty of horses that like to be up with the pace. I would expect Fab Lolly to get a good toe into this race from stall 4 and with the blinkers applied for the first time, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world if they brought about plenty of improvement. I just get the feeling she has a big performance in her if everything falls right...hopefully in this race!

  14. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 2nd April 2015

Cheers for the info about the wind op - i try & keep a look out for these' date=' but looking at the cards today i would've never known about this one - i reckon these things should be declared on the cards before hand..![/quote'] No bother mate, I only knew myself from reading it on the racing post app. Like you I think it's something that should be made known to the public on the race card
  15. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 2nd April 2015 2.50 Taunton - L'amiral David 1pt win @ 13/2 Bet365 This one hasn't shown much at all in 6 career starts but he makes his handicap debut here off a very low mark and comes here after having a wind op. We seen at the weekend what wonders a wind op did for another Alan King horse in Chatez so there could be plenty of improvement to come from this horse. Apparently this horse is one of few in the stable that can keep up with Chatez so that alone means he must be showing plenty at home. Stables runners aren't in the best of form but I am hopeful of plenty of improvement from this horse tomorrow.

  16. 7.05 Dundalk - Intense Style 0.5pt EW @ 10/1 Boylesports Jim Bolger's horses must always be respected when going for listed/group races as he very rarely sends one out that he doesn't think can go well. I feel Intense Style could be a big price here as long as he has strengthened up over the winter. On his debut he wasn't fancied going off 33/1 but he ran with plenty of promise behind The Great War. He managed to take the notable scalp of Dick Whittington on his 3rd career start but was pretty disappointing on his next 3 runs. He may have found the mile too far on his last turf start but he was right back to form on his last start of the season when winning over 6f at Dundalk. He took well to the all weather surface, which is no surprise given his pedigree and I fancy he could be tough to pass if he can get to the front from stall 6. It's more than likely he is only playing for a place but if the more fancied runners here are not 100% fit for this return to action then I would be hopeful Intense Style could take advantage. Of the 2 at the head of the market I would go with Rapid Applause over War Envoy who should really appreciate the step up to 7f. From what I have been reading his trainer has left something to work on with him, which I would imagine would be the same for the O'Brien horse.

  17. Re: CPO's betting blog (new edition!) A pretty horrendous month really with only 3 winners from god knows how many selections. I will do some stats either tonight or tomorrow. Absolutely gutted I changed my mind yesterday from Rolling Maul to The Boss's Dream... always go with your initial choice. Got one for tomorrow night at Dundalk... Let's try and get this month off to a winning start. 7.05 Dundalk - Intense Style 1pt EW @ 10/1 Boylesports Jim Bolger's horses must always be respected when going for listed/group races as he very rarely sends one out that he doesn't think can go well.
