Re: PL Exclusive Cashback Tourney with $1000 Gtd at 32Red Any chance I could join in this?? I know I've not been around for a long while - Steve and I are both working in the UK for the moment, but without proper internet access, and we've just had so little time at home on the weekend that poker has taken a bit of a back seat for a while. :sad I'm now back home until the New Year (but Steve is still working this week:lol) so plenty more time over the next few weeks to play a bit of poker :nana:nana If I'm not OK to join in this one, then fine, I'll hopefully see you all at the tables anyway over the next few weeks.

Re: WSOP Main Event :nana :nana :nana Great stuff - I can go to bed now :D Apparently Danny is now down to 130k, so not looking quite so healthy as before the hand for hand play started, but still in a playable position and $20K richer!

Re: WSOP Main Event cheers Morls - just spotted your post over on the Hendon Mob! I think they're already tracking him - there are already photos of him on their thread - their reporter gave him a hendon mob pin yesterday for luck and it worked - he finished the day on 290k - the 2nd highest Brit left out there at the start of day 3 :nana There is just so little info coming through at the moment until the bubble bursts, all I can do is sit here clicking 'F5' :hope

Re: WSOP Main Event Great work Morls - this site is updating much quicker for me than Pokernews! Got a good friend out there - last heard of on around 200k with 12 left till the cash. Can't go to bed until I know that the bubble has burst and Danny is still in there, so thanks very much for all the updates :ok Could be a very late night the way things are going - luckily I'm working from home tomorrow ;)

Re: Inside Poker - The best £10 I never spent
Just wanted to echo what VoiceofJoe is saying here. I was reading my copy of Inside Poker on the train last night and decided to try out the article on Minimum Buy-in Strategy (Alex Scott's I believe) when I got home last night. Initial results are extremely promising. I sat down at the 10/20c table first of all with $20 before remembering to try out the Minimum Buy-in Strategy. I then sat down at 2 more tables with $4 each. When I cashed out an hour or so later, the $20 had turned into $30 :ok , but the 2 tables I sat down at with only $4 I cashed out $18 and $32 :nana Far, far, far too small a sample to prove anything - but certainly gave me something to think about. I've always previously bought in with the maximum allowed, but I'll be trialling the min buy in approach for a bit now.Just a little mention for this months Inside Poker - I must say this magazine gets better and better each month. :ok There are 5 really excellent Strategy Articles this month from Alex Scott (very thought provoking) ,Phil Shaw,Annie Duke (I even understood what she was on about this month !),Julian Thew and Marc Goodwin. Congratulations again Alun and the Team :clap :clap -
Re: Female Poker Players!
I know you only said that to get a reaction, but OK, I'll rise to the bait!! Oi :spank:spank:spank:spank:spank You only say that 'cos you're scared of us Brian ;) More seriously, there are some good female players out there and some crap ones (and the same applies to the guys), but as there are more guys playing the game then naturally more of the top players are going to be guys. There are plenty of the 'top' male poker players I wouldn't be too impressed with either. Don't think you can argue too much with Jen Harman though - I'd also add Annie Duke to the list personally - and don't forget Victoria Coren has recently won an EPT title. That said - when we were out in Vegas, in 2 of the tournaments I was playing there was a woman in each who managed to go fairly deep without seeming to have much of a clue at all as to what she was doing (I finished in the money in each and they didn't though :)). However, luckily at the cash tables I ran into far more guys with deep pockets and equally little idea about how to play the game :nana:nana:nanamost of the PL lady players are crap as well so it must run true :lol -
Re: Hidden flaw of the best damn hand in poker? Hmmmm - indeed interesting. Technically Player A is ahead at the moment on the basis of the other card. However there is no way for Player A to win this hand at showdown (despite him being ahead on the turn). The best he can hope for here, presuming both players remain in the hand until the river, is a split pot.

Re: Straddle Bets...oh boy! I'd echo most of what's been said above. The main reason is to get a bit more action going on a tight table - and is certainly of most use in a Pot Limit game where you otherwise wouldn't be able to raise the pot sufficiently (certainly in early position) to shake anyone off a hand thereby increasing the chances that the flop is going to hit someone else who has stayed in with rags. However it can get a bit crazy when you've got several straddles going on (which although is not entirely commonplace is certainly not unheard of) and a 1/2 game is now costing you $16 or $32 to even see a flop - before anyone has seen their cards remember :loon - Great fun too though when you're in the right mood :ok Never really thought about it until now, but can't say I've ever seen an online card room that has allowed this - no idea why that would be :unsure

Re: **Poker Monday 8th January** GaF - I'm in Tikay's tourney - as Sue779. I was trying to install and set this up in a hurry and when it suggested Sue779 as a unique player ID I thought this was just to log in - didn't realise that was going to be my screen name so accepted it!!!! :unsure Fingers crossed I might be able to change it, but for tonight at least I'm Sue779.

Re: PokerPlayer Betfair Grand Prix III Hmmmm - don't generally play much on Betfair so hadn't downloaded the new software - and now I can't :( I've tried to install it from the Betfair site (no I don't know where the stick that came with Poker Player magazine is) - and it says 'Error reading setup initialization file' when I tried to install. Anyone know what the problem might be - how I can install it??

Re: Are you the best player on PL? PROVE IT!!
I finishhed 48th - honest, and i did pop a post up on the daily MTT winnngs thread to say this.:ok Don't have any other proof though I'm afraid. Not a problem about my history being lost - I'm fairly sure I was down to 0 points as I haven't been playing much poker lately. I'll have to make more of an effort over the coming weeks ;)Milou - Can you give me your best guess on your finishing postion please? I can see you were still in with 83 left (http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showpost.php?p=669718&postcount=11) but the lobby is gone, so I dont know where you finished up :sad I have given you 83rd for the moment, but will accept the position you give me and update :ok I'm afraid your history is one that has been lost too :sad -
Re: Are you the best player on PL? PROVE IT!! I can't see me there GaF? :sad I haven't been playing these lately with one thing and another, but played last night (and voted) - and finished 48th - so should be back on the chart somewhere!
