    Treble - Wimbledon Round 1 - Strength 3/10 - 29/1 - Paddy Power

Verdasco 3-0 vs Stepanek Gasguet 3-0 vs Girlado F Lopez 3-0 vs Berrer

    29 / 1 odds

    Treble - Wimbledon Round 1 - Strength 2/10 - 24/1 - Paddy Power

Verdasco 3-1 vs Stepanek Gasguet 3-0 vs Giraldo F Lopez 3-0 vs Berrer

    24 / 1 odds

Small stakes for both Stepanek has capiculated on many occasions this season and his traditional style of play isn't as effective anymore as most opponents know how to deal with it, Verdasco has shown he can deal with player's reminscent to Stepanek when beating Mahut comprehensively @ queens. Gasguet meets challenger Giraldo, very much an unknown quantity on grass, what is for sure is clay is the better of his surfaces, leading me in to the assumption he isn't the best @ dealing with slice balls. Lopez as mentioned above in my earlier tip.

  2. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Feliciano Lopez vs Michael Berrer - Wimbledon Round 1 - Feliciano Lopez 3-0 - 13/8 - Moderately large stakes - Strength 8/10 - Paddy Power

Lopez, probably the most reliable player when it comes to dispatching with distinctly average player's he should be beating. His serve on grass is clutch magic and he's hardly ever broken... He was broken by Roddick @ Queens only twice in the last set when he choked just after breaking. The bloke is probably the best volleyier in the World for me. Extremely solid, possesses great approach shots on grass, the chip and charge for him works brilliantly on this surface. Berrer is up and down, you don't know what your going to get with the bloke, one moment he'll look like a solid top 30 player and the next an ageing veteren lingering in amongst the top 70-100. I believe Lopez will sustain any good periods of good play from Berrer and then capitalize on his moments of "wtf was that?" ness ... and eek out a 3 sets to love win with a break in every set.

  3. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

    Stepanek vs Verdasco - Verdasco 4/6 - Wimbledon Round 1 - Strength 10/10 - Massive stakes - Paddy Power

Need I give much reasoning? Stepanek's best surface is grass admittedly but listen, the guy's in his 30s, he can barely last out through a best 3 set match, there is hardly any likelyhood he'll last out a best of 5 set one. Verdasco has been some-what impressive in his lead up to Wimbledon on the grass, he dispatched with Mahut quite easily @ Queens so there's proof he can deal with the serve and volley types which is what Stepanek tends to be. Yes Stepanek took a set of Nadal and beat a tiresome Tsonga, but both player's were tired and both didn't really have an upmost desire to win. If this was a best of 3 set match I'd be somewhat weary of backing Fernando here, but over the course of a 5 set match, there is no way Stepanek wins, howmany 5 set matches has steps won? Not many. His not renownd for winning 5 setters and I cannot see him straight setting Fernando, not a chance. A nice cover would be small stake on Stepanek 3 sets to 1 but its not really neccessery tbh, never been so confident.

  4. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

Haha, I was so pissed off in the second day so didnt even bother watching the third! Tricky draw for Murray....with possible Cilic in the 3rd and Gasquet/Wawrinka in the 4th....the latter 2 are the type of player to take Andy down in a slam. Well Gasquet should have done it a couple of times in the past, Stan of course did at the US and could have done him at Wimby before aswell.
Murray to win his quarter should prize some good odds.
  5. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

Very good day. Both Stosur and Kvitova made nice comebacks and won. Cibulkova is a double break up in the decider against Kuznetsova' date=' that will be concluded tomorrow. Aza with yet another retirement. Think she will beat Bartoli's record anytime soon :rollin[/quote'] You seem to be in touch with the Women's game bro, how do you see tomorrow's matches go? Bartoli seems under priced against Stosur considering her much more impressive record on grass? Stosur was very eratic today.
  6. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

it is hard to think of different reasoning for each match can you give me some tips on better reasoning for my selections because i dont want to select bets and dont explain why i selected them also i dont to do similar reasoning for each selection
I don't know man, but there's got to be more depth to your thinking when making a selection than just "these two player's are evenly matches". Do you consider any other factors? The emotional toughness of each player? Form? Previous results on grass? Clutch play? (Ability to perform under pressure) Who the crowd is backing? Motivation / drive? Proneness to double faulting? Ability to deal with slice and topspin? Momentum from last match? Watching both in the last match? Ability to cope with the weather? (Wind?) There has to be more depth to your thinking when picking 2 sets to 1 for stosur and tipsarevic; unless its PURE instinct, which in that case you should just say.
  7. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

Kei Nishikori vs Janko Tipsarevic set betting 2-1 tipsarevic 11/4 skybet these two players are playing well at the moment and have done well to get this far but i think tipsarevic will win here Sam Stosur vs Marion Bartoli set betting 2-1 stosur 11/4 skybet 3 sets 5/4 skybet two players playing well on grass both are in form as well but i think stosur will be too tough to beat
Is it just me or are your reasons for selections extremely vague and lacking substance / depth? You generally make the same tips followed by the same reasoning's. You select two evenly matched players and then select the player who's slight favorite with the bookmakers as the one to come out victorious over 3 sets. I don't know what the rule is on reasoning's to detail Atko but are you allowed to be vague and then provide that same vague reason for almost every further other tip you post? lol

Venus Williams vs Anna Ivanovic - WTA Premier Eastbourne - Venus Williams Total Games Over 12.5 - Evens - Paddy Power - Moderate stakes - Strength 7.5/10

I certainly don't see this being plain sailing for the Williams sister, she, yesterday, although having shown a much better display as opposed to her sister, Serena, is still rusty. Ivanovic as we know can beat anyone on her day, her last few matches have shown her to be playing a tiny bit closer to how she was 2-3 years ago. She is more than capable of sneaking a set here or even taking the match. Whichever the case, she won't be winning or losing in straights and if she does lose in straights, you'd expect her to atleast force Venus to the one 7-5 or tie breaker. Venus won't find this easy and I see a tough 2 or 3 setter for her here, reminiscent to her yesterday's match.

Awful tip. :lol Ivaonovic is still a shadow of her former self, sorry to any followers.

    Dimitrov vs Anderson - ATP Eastbourne - Anderson 2-0 - 5/6 - Paddy Power - Strength 8/10 - Moderate stakes

Come off it! Dimitrov is not taking a set of big Kevin, especially not with the form he's been in this season, Kevin Anderson has shown he can match it with the big boys and one of the main assets in helping him do this has been his serve. As we know a good serve on grass is much more prevalent based on the fact the ball skids faster of the surface once making contact, Roddick and co's success vouches for that. Anderson is also reasonably equipped in terms of his other all round game and deals with pressure better than his opponent, Dimitrov who, whilst possessing a bit of talent and a big serve himself isn't as accomplished a match player. Dimitrov lacks defensive attributes to his game and is renownd for gifting points away cheaply on his own serve. All it takes is two unforced errors and 0-30 before Anderson unleashes on a few second serves, pressures on, we have a deuce game and Anderson sneaks a break. I don't see Dimitrov impacting on Anderson's serve that much so that means two easy sets.

  11. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

    R. Schuettler vs K. Nishikori 3pts R. Schuettler to win - Evens with Paddy Power I reckon this price will drop quickly and would have him around the 5/6 mark personally. I was on Querry when he beat Nishikori at Queens and i am happy to oppose him here again. Schuettler is a solid player and is in the routine of coming through matches against this sort of opponent. He got through the qualifiers easy enough and put up a good fight at Queens when facing Querry, a lot more than Nishikori did. His returning should give him a good chance here as Nishikori's 1st serve percentage against Kirillov wasn't the greatest. Kirillov had 4 break points so if he can create opportunities, Schuettler can too. At these odds i am happy to take the experienced German to do the business for us.
Just to follow up on this, I think this is an absolute cert, Nikishori has been out with injury for donkies months, he was taken apart by a mediocre Sam Querrey at queens and Schuettler as we all know is a grass court veteran, the guy reached the Semi Finals of Wimbledon not so long ago losing out to Nadal whom he also mustered a set off. Nikishori is too erratic and passive at this moment in time to even challenge a player as accomplished and secure on the grass as Rainer. Easy money.
  12. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

good shout SYMIL, i backed Tipsarevic -3.50 pre game expecting a couple of breaks being enough to beat Ward. Ward did great last week but the hard work starts now winning week in week out or at least making the 3rd round etc... Tipsarevic is no mug and pushed Murray at times last week, the Serb is better on grass than Stan is and has a very underrated serve. Ive not read reports just seen the scoreboard and the 1st set was perfect for me but Ward served some 78% 1st serves in that second set meaning just 6 second serves in the ENTIRE SET! Think my asian bet is gone need another 6-3 set but with a fresh Ward serving like that it doesn't look good but who knows.... I think Ward is value to win especially given he's serving first which is always important for me BUT maybe the stop came at a bad time for him, he was obviously serving huge in possible bad-ish light and now he has to start again and re-find his rhythm against a top 30 player in the world. If i had to choose i'd probably rather be on Ward than my handicap bet but truth be told the best bet at this stage in running is no bet for me. either way good luck lets hope the Serb doesn't win 6-4 and we both lose :p
Haha. Yeah, I've put a considerable amount on this match, moderates @ 11/5 during the first set and moderates again at suspended 11/8... Ward is serving first and Tipsarevic isn't the best when playing under pressure, I also don't feel Tipsy would feel to fussed losing out here, the extra incentive is definitely there for Ward and I just feel he believes this is his breakthrough season and as a result will want this more. (As it will be another big scalp and further ranking points)
  13. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

SYMIL did you take that bet without having watched any of the match?? Not sure where the logic is in that but good luck. Anyways I'm taking a few tomorrow to kick off my week ahead of Wimbledon. Will do the write-ups when the markets become available but already taken Schuettler for the win at 11/10 with Bet365. Just pointing this out now as the price is dropping and he will be favourite before too long if anyone wants to jump on that one. Will be back later though.
No, but I watched him all last week @ Queens with hard-arse observation and the reports were he was unlucky to lose the first set to Tipsy who had a few lucky line calls.
  14. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

    Berrer vs Giraldo - Berrer - 4/6 - ATP s-Hertogenbosch - Strength 8/10 - Paddy Power - Moderately big stakes

Berrer, a confidence player, a player who cherishes the grass, his massive serve and comfortability at the net is what separates him from his opponent here. Mentally they both cancel each other out, they're both susceptible to streaks in unforced errors and neither really play the big points well. Atm though Berrer's confidence is high and his form on the surface is reasonably good, he beat Almagro, whom although doesn't have much credentials on grass, is still a very tough nut to crack. Giraldo doesn't really possess many qualities to his game, he's definitely not good enough defensively to pose that much of a threat on Berrer's serve and doesn't really have anything that fills me with belief that he'll hold his serve without much effort throughout the course of a match. Giraldo's out of his depth here, grass isn't him.

  15. Re: Tennis - 13-19 June

Ward vs Tipsarevic - Eastbourne ATP Ward 11/8 - Strength 7/10 - Paddy Power - Medium stakes

Current score is 1-1 and Ward was considerably unlucky to lose the first set according to reports, Ward's serve is firing on all cylinders and he takes charge of points whenever opponents miss first serves by chipping and charging or approaching the net and intimidating them, his baseline game on grass was a match for Wawrinka, so competing with Tipsy from there shouldn't be any different IMO. He's also serving first and has the British crowd behind him.

  16. Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Hewitt vs Kolschreiber - Gerry Webber Open (Halle) - Hewitt to win - 8/13 - Paddy Power - Strength 8/10 - Moderately big stakes

The only reason Kolly is priced so favorably here is home turf, the guy is by no means a grass courter, he has a base-line game suited to medium paced hard-courts and on his day can beat just about anybody outside the top 5. Right now, with the form he's in, his day isn't coming around any time soon, he'll need to have an amazing day to outwit one of the smartest grass courters of the modern era. Hewitt means business, he knows his injury has caused him to slip heavily down the rankings, making a menz on grass his best surface is something he knows he must do in order to save himself from the ordeal of battling through qualifiers just to play in 1000/slam events. Hewitt will outwit and out hustle Kolschreiber a guy who isn't as buoyed by German support as most would initially assume he is.

LOST. :sad Kolschreiber had one of his days and Hewitt isn't as back to form on grass as I first believed, way too passive, he was waiting for Kolschreiber to miss, hardly ever dictated the play, didn't even attempt it, just kept on trying to counter attack. Really pissed off ATM, more than you would believe, had Roddick, Hewitt, Troicki and Petzchner all in a £20 accumulator.....
  17. Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Ward is now 1-7 to win in-play!!!!!
Just a little word of advise' date= James Ward is a dangerous player on grass and possesses a big serve, do not underestimate the kid, he could very well sneak a tie-break and anything could happen from there... Querrey is known to implode against lower ranked players when he isn't quite getting his way. Belluci is another dangerous bet if you ask me. I like Troicki to beat Berdych today however, plus handicap is a must.... Anyways.. I've left off all bet today aside from Hewitt 2-0, too unpredictable today's matches.... very 50/50 ... even Anderson could cause Roddick problems...
    Did say. :dude
  18. Re: Tennis - June 6-12

:lol:lol:lol you know what the more you gamble the less you worry about semantics.when I 1st started gambling, I used to be methodical.I wanted my winings to be as a result of the workl I put in research rather than luck.I trully believed I was a calculated risk taker, sort of like a guy who trades in equities, but whjen you lose a numbetr opf bets you are certain about you learn that a great bet is a winning bet,Fullstop! gambling is a combination of Experience, Watching the sport & gut feeling.research is just another factor you can consider but it dont mean much! a good gambler is one that actually wins, not the guy with the best reasoning!
To me good reasoning and winning generally come hand in hand, so I would disagree with you there mate. The technical ability and talent of a player or team shouldn't be the only factor that's looked into. The crowd, the desire/passion to win and calmness under pressure are many of other things. I'm not saying luck in sport is rare but in tennis luck isn't that dependant on, you rarely get a bad decision like in football where there may be a goal given that was offside or a ball over the line but not seen by the linesman, or diving for penalties. Ofcourse you can get pigeons and stuff like that but that's really rare. Troicki and the ball-boy when he played Murray is another rare instance of bad luck.
  19. Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Sometimes in gambling we make good bets that lose and bad bets that win..... the difficulty for future learning is that we usually say a 'win is a win' when our bets come in ...but often when we lose we chalk it down as 'poor conditions' or 'rubbish performance' and of course sometimes confess to ourselves it was a terrible bet. It's still worth pointing out though that whenever a player we back wins very comfortably we never blame the conditions or the poor performance of the opposition. I just think this is an important point in helping people learn in gambling and how important it is to be honest with oneself. e.g ' date=' If an 8-11 shot you back wins in a third set tie-break..... Is that a good bet...or if you beat an odds-on handicap by one game...E.g I Backed mattek minus 2.5 today but she won the match in third set breker... is this a good bet...I don't think is although i'M not totally sure....kindof confused . what do folks think.... am i just over-analysing....btw.... for the most part i've been really liking the tips on the site...verdasco was the tip of the day and this guy spikatto seems to know his stuff.[/quote'] Thanks for your philosophical views on betting. :\
  20. Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Murray vs Cilic - Gerry Webber Open (Halle) - Murray 2-0 - Paddy Power - Strength 7.5/10 - Medium stakes

Cilic? A joke on grass, he has a big serve that reacts well on grass and that's the only thing that carried him through against Clement and especially Belluci.... Murray is the 3rd best returner in World tennis behind Nadal and Djokovic, so therefore where does that leave Cilic? I'll tell you where it leaves him, it leaves him f***ed... Cilic will make unforced error after unforced error and I cannot for the life of me see how he'll muster a set. Murray was eratic against Tipsarevic but he still managed to come through in straights, Cilic isn't as good from the ground as Tipsarevic and I expect Murray to see off Cilic quite comprehensively in the end. Comfortable 2-0.
