    Liverpool 1-2Fiorentina
Like I said earlier on, Liverpool, as usual, always letting people down. So glad I didn't bet on them today.;) However, Intermilan let me down today. 2nd time this season! :wall I went with a 3-fold Intermilan & Barcelona over 2.5 goals + sevilla under 2.5 :sad Hope everyone else did better than yesterday!:ok
Well some did and some didn't. It seems like nothing was learned from the previous night really. So many went big on teams with nothing to play for again:eek It would be good if somebody compiled stats on these types of games. That would be really interesting. I think I'll have a word with 'Statto':lol

Christian Gross? Stuttgart's saviour? With respect to him, this isn't the Swiss League. He's now officially the boss of the biggest set of underachievers since my family. Can he really change them into winners in three days? The good news is they will definitely be staying in a European competition regardless of the result. Realistically though, Gross must know even if they reach the knockout phase they will be sitting ducks. The better option would probably be to drop into the Europa League, against easier opposition and something they might have a genuine chance in if they get themselves sorted out. There's no denying they look lively against Bochum, but not great creativily. They also let 10 man Bochum equalise which, at any level is inexcuseable. This is a massive game for Gross. Win it, he's a bit of a hero. Lose it, he's Christian Gross. Difficult one. But you have to lean towards Unirea at 9/2.
If he remembers his underground pass when he leaves the house he'll be ok:rollin Come on Unirea 11/2 at Skybet:ok

I'm not normally a champs league man' date='but Fiorentina have a few injury worries tonight.Of their starting 11 only Gilardino(7 gls) has scored a league goal for them this season.I'm sure the pool will be playing for pride, hopefully that will be enough, plus they have named a reasonable side....going 2/10 @ 20/23 Boyles...good luck...[/quote'] That's not good to hear :sadI've just backed the over 2.5 goals at 11/10 with Skybet. If Fiorentina have no goalscorers it pains me to wish for a Liverpool thrashing then:lol

The chances are Lyon will beat Debrecini. If that happens Fiorentina will need a win to have any chance of keeping top spot. If my team decided to settle for second spot I'd be pretty disappointed. I can't tell if Fiorentina are playing a weakened team as I have to admit I don't follow Serie A that closely. Anybody with this knowledge' date=' please post.[/quote'] Fiorentina Line up 1 Frey 2 Kroldrup 4 Donadel 11 Gilardino 14 Natali 18 Montolivo 20 Jorgenson 23 Pasqual 24 Santana 25 Comotto 29 De Silvestri Anybody know if this is a weakened team? I can see there's no Mutu or Zanetti to mention just a couple. I'm not sure whether this is down to selection or injuries. It is a much changed team to what they played in the reverse fixture though.

Yes i understand what you are saying but when i say less motivated i mean it is not a must win game for Fiorentina hence the reason they are expected to rest some of thir squad.Yes if you win the group you have the second leg at home but I think if Fiorentina are resting players they are quite happy to be just in the hat for the last 16.

Liverpool v Fiorentina (Home Win) I will be backing big stakes on Liverpool. In my opinion i dont believe this is an unmotivated meaningless friendly as was described in an earlier post.I think Liverpool have a point to prove to themselves because of their dissapointing performances so far. Also they have a point to prove to Fiorentina after their display in Italy when they lost 2-0.Liverpool need to keeep winning to instill confidence back into the side and need to go on a winning run.Fiorentina themselves will be less motivated than Liverpool as they have already qualified for group stages. They will also play weakened team. With Gerrard playing and hopefully Torres(prolly on bench) and Aqualini set to start i am happy enough to place big stakes on Liverpool win.Took them at evens this morning they are now 5/6.
I don't agree with Fiorentina being less motivated as they still have a chance of remaining top of the group which I think gives you the second leg at home in the next round.

Never mind that, nobody answered my earlier question in this thread regarding this match...considering this is his first game in charge "does anybody know if Christian Gross will be making his way to the match via the underground?" Are you all too young to remember or was it such a bad joke;)

Stuttgart - Unirea: Unirea (+0.5) AH @ 2.43 (Bet365) 10/10 I think Stuttgart are seriously short here. In the last 6 matches (all competitions) Stuttgart are 1-4-1. In these 6 matches they haven't scored more than a goal in any match. Unirea have a historic opportunity to advance to the next round by getting a draw or a win. In the last 6 matches (all competitions) they have a good record of 4-2-0. Clearly, I believe the value bet is on Unirea and the AH odds are excellent given the situation.
I agree, I pointed out earlier in the thread that the pricing of this match is bizarre considering the circumstances. I'm having a little on Unirea at 11/2 with Skybet, hopefully they can hit Stuttgart on the counter attack as they search for the win. Sounds easy enough. It never is though is it? Well it is sometimes;)

I will be backing stuggart' date=' they have a new coach in Chrsitian Gross and this will be his 1st game. Stuggart were tremendous at Ibrox a few weeks ago and could have themselves netted a few more. Unirea have been great and a merit to themselves but i feel the Germans will have too much especially on home soil. Im tempted to even go stuggart -1[/quote'] Considering Unirea currently sit second in the group, I'm at a loss to understand how the bookies have priced this one up. Unirea 11/2 at Skybet. Maybe it's because a draw will suffice for Unirea and Stuttgart must go all out for the win to progress to the knockout stages. I must admit I don't share your confidence with regards to Stuttgart. Don't forget Unirea made mincemeat of Rangers at Ibrox and won their last match against Sevilla. I know Sevilla had already qualified but they still had to do it. On a lighter note, does anybody know if Christian Gross will be making his way to the match via the underground:lol

I would think twice and then twice more before putting Chelsea in accumulators, its really not worth it. Ancelotti isn't obliged to put out any of his first 11. Why should he? There is nothing to gain only potential injuries in a nothing game. The opposition could easily grab a draw and this is a rare opportunity for the manager to have a look at whats at the club outside of players who's tranfer fees alone could feed small countries. I am tempted by Ap Nicosia +1
In total agreement. It surprises me how many are willing to risk money on a team that's already qualified as group winners and it's not as though the bookies have been generous with the odds. Also Chelsea didn't exactly thump them in Cyprus, did they? You might be lucky and Chelsea win but if you do these type of bets over the long term you're likely to show a loss with them. There's also a Europa spot up for grabs in this group so at least Apoel will be showing full commitment. A small stakes bet on Apoel or leave the game alone in my opinion.
  11. Re: Champions League Tue November 3rd

You're probably right' date=' Marseille will be of the opinion that they have to win this game which adds extra pressure. There is no pressure on Zurich as they are not expected to have any hope of progressing from what looked to be a daunting group on paper. I can't have Marseille at that price given Zurich have already caused an upset in this group. I'll take Zurich [b']+2 (Handicap) at 5/6 with Skybet as that looks the value in this fixture.
Zurich make Wigan look consistent:lol Good job all my Champions League eggs weren't all in one basket:ok
  12. Re: Champions League Tue November 3rd

Marseille v Zurich This should be an obvious home win and combo material...Marseille not in the greatest form but if they fail to win this, with remaining games against Real Madrid and Milan away, wont stand much of a chance fo qualifying... Marseille have Lucho Gonzalez out and they will miss him as he is important, but otherwise have a strong line up of Brandao and Niang available, and Morientes as back up... Zurich of course stunned Europe with that 1:0 win at the San Siro, but I don't think they can repeat their heroics this time around... Marseille to WIN @ 1.30 Confidence 8/10
