  1. Being a Weymouth season ticket holder...we really struggled against Boreham Wood, we don't have a striker who can hold the ball up. Apparently we were better against Grimsby in creating chances but our lack of physicality is concerning. Maidenhead to win to nil may also be of interest, but I'm hoping for better obviously!

  2. Weymouth are away to Chesterfield this weekend who find themselve in good form and are rightly favourites. However, Weymouth are a much different proposition in 2021 following some astute loan signings, much harder to beat and a mid-table team in the form guide. We walloped Wealdstone 4-0 last week.

As such, I think there's some value in either the draw or Weymouth win - 4/1 at bet365.

  3. Kings Lynn v Redditch

After 2 wins in 2, Redditch have lost their last two games to Weymouth and Kettering respectively. I didn't manage to make the Weymouth game last weekend but by all accounts it was as one sided a game as you will see, and Redditch were poor. I'm backing a Kings Lynn side who have had a good start.

    Biggleswade v Cinderford

Cinderford have surprised but not been rewarded, Biggleswade have been poor. Certainly worth a look at Cinderford as their odds are still reflecting the pre season view.

    Chippenham v Leamington

Game of the day this, but Chippenham have the style that suits away from home, and I think Leamington will just edge it after the flying start they've had.

  4. Very sorry gents but I ended up backing Chippenham to beat Weymouth on Tuesday.  They were the best side I saw at the Bob Lucas last season, and having strengthened I felt they were value at 3.80 despite my view that Weymouth were top 5 material.  Went along to the game and was surprised just how bad Weymouth were, and how good Chippenham were - first to everything, big strong lads, well up for it.  4-1 did not flatter them.  So I will be backing Chippenham to beat Cambridge City this weekend on the strength of that performance - it was genuinely flawless, and the pressing game they have suits away games.  They had one of the best away records in the division last season.  Interestingly they struggled more at home when teams come to defend - as proved with the draw Kings Langley took away last weekend.

Weymouth - Redditch now looks a very interesting game.  Redditch took Poole close last year and will be pushing for promotion this year having taken 2 wins from 2 against Chesham and Stratford, but after Tuesday Weymouth have something to prove.  I think we got our team selection and formation wrong on Tuesday, and that should be rectified - if so, I can see a draw suiting both sides.  Probably a no bet though.

Regarding Cinderford.  Their game against Dorchester on Tuesday was affected by the fact that Dorch had 3 key players out including talisman Nathan Walker and player manager Mark Jermyn.  I'm not surprised they lost, but 7 goals in two games for Cinderford is certainly interesting.  However, I will be backing Dorchester at 5.00 as they are value at that price with key players returning.

  5. My local team is Weymouth and I go to 80-90% of home games.  The Southern Prem is weak this year although obviously Basingstoke going full-time is an interesting development.  Weymouth just missed out on the playoffs last season, and have kept the bulk of the team that did well last year together.  This will be our strength and I expect us to hit the ground running - so look out for early value in the match betting against sides that are perhaps rebuilding.

We had one of the best defences in the league last season, and that back 5 is still together.  Unfortunately we have lost all cover for our centre backs - so keep an eye out for injuries to Brooks or Wannell - if cover is not brought in soon we could suffer if either of those are suspended/injured.  Our downfall last season was an inability to convert possession into goals.  We have signed Sam Jordan who has scored goals for fun at Bradford Town, but this is a big step up for him.  We have kept Ben Thomson and Stewart Yetton as our other two strikers.  One of those 3 needs to start banging in some goals.

Our midfield remains a strength, and the addition of Charlie Davis from Dorchester looks to be a good one - he has shone in pre-season.  We've also added Dan Smith and Aaron Rodriguez.

Current best price of 20/1 with Skybet looks to have some value - I would put us closer to 12s.  Here's to a good season!

  6. Re: Southern/Northern/Isthmian Premer Leagues Ante-Post Witton at 40/1 is good each way value. Relegation candidates we ain't - as shown in our pre season victory over Telford. Weymouth have signed Chris McPhee tonight which makes that 10/1 look better value than it did yesterday, but still can't see them winning the title- its hard to see beyond St Neots for the Southern Prem.
