  1. Re: Spain - La Liga - 1-2 October

As of Reyes' date=' all we need to do is check his disciplinary record in the past 2 seasons - doesn't make him very reliable, does it?[/quote'] Seems a bit of a strange comment to me, Reyes' disciplinary record doesn't seem all that bad - 7 yellows and 1 red last year (from 38 games), 3 yellows and 1 red the year before (from 32 games) - http://www.terra.es/deportes/futbol/liga-primera/equipos/ficha-jugador/portada.cfm?id_jugador=995&id_equipo=4 10 yellows and 2 reds from 2 seasons doesn't seem unreasonable to me - let's put it this way, Cristiano Ronaldo over the same time (although from 66 games as opposed to 70 for Reyes) has 8 yellows and 2 reds, and I don't think you'd hear many people arguing that his disciplinary record makes him unreliable.
  2. Re: Spain - La Liga - 17-18 September

Guya is there a good website to use to check out the potential line ups? I cant believe the odds are near to 2.3 now and i want to check the potential line ups or the actual ones close to KO.
Marca (a Spanish sports daily paper) gives predicted lineups, although they're rarely completely accurate, but it can at least give you a rough idea. Go to http://www.marca.com/, then down the right there's a list of the fixtures under the heading "Jornada 4" (Matchday 4). Click on any of the matches (as long as they're in blue, if they're in grey it's because they've not yet written the preview) and you'll get the preview page for that match, which includes their predicted lineups.
  3. Re: Spain - La Liga - 17-18 September Not so convinced myself that Valencia are such a good bet. They might have won both games, but they were at home for both, and they were hardly convincing in the 4-3 win against Santander, needing 2 goals in the last couple of minutes to turn it around. They're also off the back of a Champions League match. Last season in league matches after a Champions League game they were 3-2-3, which included defeats at home to Mallorca and away to Zaragoza, and draws at home to Sporting and Osasuna. Good luck to those backing them, but the price doesn't really look particularly tempting to me.

  4. Re: Spain - Liga Adelante - 3-4 September Not sure Elche are such a good bet myself. Murcia may only just have got promoted, but traditionally the Segunda division is about their level, and in fact until last season they'd spent the previous 10 seasons floating between Primera and Segunda. Their defeat against Celta is no disgrace, Celta are one of the top sides in the division (as are Elche, admittedly), and Murcia according to reports were on top against them for much of the first half before fading in the second. Elche v Murcia is also a local derby. Elche may well win, but I certainly wouldn't write off Murcia's chances. Good luck though.

  5. Re: Spain - La Liga - 27-29 August JPFFC, I don't know whether Villarreal will actually win, but I'd certainly fancy them to give Barcelona a decent fight. They've won 1 and drawn 2 of their last 4 visits to the Camp Nou, scoring 7 goals in those 4 games. If there's a good time to play Barcelona away, it's probably early in the season - last year they dropped 5 points in their first 3 homes, and then nothing after that until the last home game of the season when they were already confirmed as champions. Barcelona's defence is also severely weakened for tonight. Puyol, Pique, Alves, Maxwell and Adriano are all unavailable. Personally I'm on Villarreal DNB for small stakes, and both teams to score for medium stakes.

  6. Re: Spain - La Liga - 27-29 August

I'm always getting predicted line-ups wrong by the odd player or two. The information is surely only meant as an indication that you could take further.
Announcing a *predicted* lineup and getting it wrong is completely normal, announcing a *starting* lineup and getting it wrong is another thing entirely. It might not be spam, but as others have already said it's at best unhelpful, and at worst misleading. Most Spanish teams announce a matchday squad the day before the game, so you know for definite that barring any late injuries, only players in that squad are going to make the team, and yet there are a number of players included in paun's "starting lineups" that weren't even in the squad, so had already been ruled out from the day before - Forlan at Atletico Madrid, Baptista at Malaga, Khedira at Real Madrid, to name a few off the top of my head.
  7. Re: Spain » Segunda Division

Las Palmas will be without Pedro Vega (Left Winger 25apps' date=' 2 goals, 0 assists), Juanpe(Center back, 8 apps) and Adrian Pollo(central midfielder, 18 apps) for todays game, while Sergio Suarez(Attacking midfielder, 24 apps, 4 goals) and Josico(defensive midfielder, 23 apps, 2 goals) are coming back[/quote'] Agree with the bet, and I'm on Las Palmas myself, but just for info, think you've got the absent and returning players the wrong way round (apart from Pedro Vega), according to Marca at least - Pedro Vega, Sergio Suarez and Josico are missing, while Juanpe and Adrian Pollo are back.
  8. Re: Tennis - 18-24 April

It's not suspicious. She very often dies on the court after a tough match in the previous day. But retiring one game from finish is lame. Had my bet won at 4-4 :sad
I know this is no good to you now, and I expect you probably know anyway, but it may be worth mentioning for those that don't - under Bet365's rules that bet would've been settled as a winner.
  9. Re: Uefa Cup ( 18.12.2008 )

    benfica cant qualify
    Yes they can, Dave
SL Benfica's slender hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Cup Round of 32 rest upon a big win in their final Group B game against FC Metalist Kharkiv, coinciding with a draw in the section's other Matchday 5 tie where Olympiacos CFP host Hertha BSC Berlin.

  10. Re: ATP Dubai/Las Vegas & WTA Bagalore 3rd - 9th March

Who the hell is Mahmoud Nader? I hadn't found any information about this guy....can somebody tell me about him? will he have any chance today?
Try here, Davidferrer - http://www.tennisinsight.com/matchid20080303-4-Dubai-401015.htm Only results it shows for him are Davis Cup, plus one appearance in qualifying at this tournament (lost in straight sets), and a career high ranking of 1491 :\
  11. Re: Anyone speak spanish? Well I speak Spanish, but I don't play poker, so I'm not sure I'm going to be much use here :lol Anyway, for the "los dos" bit, I'd say Strider's on the right lines - if it's "los dos" rather than "el dos", then it's "both" rather than "two". Both what, I don't know. Both of us, both of you? As has been said, "echmaos" is almost certainly a typo, should be "echamos". Echar is one of those annoying verbs that can mean dozens of different things depending on the context. One meaning which I wasn't aware of, though, and which I've just found in the dictionary, is "to deal" (as in deal cards). Both call and then we'll deal??? As for the "espro ke" bit, 2hcb is right, it's text speak (short for "espero que", text speak in Spanish often replaces a "qu" with a "k") and means I hope he doesn't have the 5. Well, strictly speaking it can mean "I hope I/he/she/you (formal form of address) don't/doesn't have the 5", but if he's talking about you then presumably it's "he" in this case. By the way, does the word "call" in there make sense to you? If it doesn't, one other thing that's just occurred to me, "callar" is the verb to shut up. If it's being used in that sense, it's missing at least one letter, as "call" doesn't mean anything in that context, but if it were another typo, it could be "Both shut up and echamos". Hope that's maybe of some help.

  12. Re: Tennis 9th - 15th Those who are convinced that nothing dodgy goes on in tennis betting may be interested to see what's going on with the Volandri v Schukin match. Volandri has come down from 1.31 to as low as 1.03 before the match even started. Nearly 2m euros matched so far, compared to around 80,000€ maximum on the other 2nd round matches in this tournament. Obviously that's not in any way proof that it's fixed, but it's certainly highly suspicious.

  13. Re: Tennis 18-24 June Garcia Lopez seemed to fall apart a bit as a result of the rain breaks yesterday, Demma, they seemed to disrupt his concentration and he let Tursunov back into the game. Seems today may actually be a complete washout too, and there's even talk of finishing the tournament off indoors. Something to bear in mind if you're considering any bets in this event.

  14. Re: Tennis ATP Roland Garros Regardless of her results here this year, given her career to date and the titles she's won, to have only made 2 semi finals on clay at Tier 4 upwards would suggest that she most certainly does not "love this surface". That's not to say she won't win, of course, but there's no need to be misleading in your write-ups.

  15. Re: Tennis ATP Roland Garros You're right, CluelessG, no idea where DJ Fish has got the idea from that Sharapova loves this surface :\ Flicking back through her stats on the WTA site, Sharapova has won 2 tournaments on clay in her career, back in 2002 and 2003, both low ranking events, and she didn't beat anyone ranked higher than 184th in the world in either of those. Putting it into context, Sharapova was the world no. 535 when she won the first of those, and no. 163 when she won the second. In events at Tier 4 or above, she's made just 2 semi-finals on clay in her career, and lost them both. I reckon she could make it 3 defeats from 3 clay SFs today.

  16. Mods, I've already run this by Paul Ross, btw. One of the moderators of the Gillingham Rivals message board (posts on there under the name Brendan Place) very sadly lost his baby boy last month aged just 3 months. He's since then set about raising funds for FSID (Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths), and one of the ways he's doing that is through an auction night to be held at Gillingham FC on the 25th November. One of the lots up for auction may be of interest to poker players:

Poker Pack Donated by Joe Beevers of "The Hendon Mob" Includes Signed Phil Ivey Full Tilt Baseball cap with letter of authenticity, Howard Lederers Secrets Of No Limits Texas Holdem DVD, Poker My Way DVD With The Flying Dutchman Marcel Luske, Full Tilt Poker MouseMat, Aces And Kings Book Signed by Joe Beevers, By Michael Kaplan & Brad Reagan with Introduction from Joe "The Elegance" Beevers, Hendon Mob Tshirt & 2 Hendon Mob Poker Chips
There's also a range of other football memorabilia, plus flights to Brussels, Amsterdam or Paris, a plane and pilot at your disposal for a day, or tickets to a sold out Magic Numbers gig. All details of the lots are at http://www.charliesauction.moonfruit.com/ (see the "Auction Catalogue" tab), along with details on how to bid, information on the FSID, an authorisation letter from the FSID confirming that funds are being raised on their behalf, etc. All for a very good cause, so please have a look at the website, see if there's anything you like the look of. Thanks. Edit - Should anyone not be interested in the auction items but still want to make a contribution, there's also a donation site set up through Justgiving.com http://www.justgiving.com/charlieedy
  17. Re: Masters Series Madrid - starts 17th Oct

What about those line judges wearing those Flat caps. Guys it's a tennis tournament not a fcuking fashion show!
Maybe the caps get in their eyes, as it looked like there were some shocking line calls last night. I was there and didn't have the clearest of views (about 20 rows back, in the corner), but it looked like Roddick had some terrible calls go against him. Was anyone watching on TV? Was Roddick right with the points he was appealing to the umpire on, because from where I was sitting it looked like he was right with most of them? Then in the Moya - Robredo game the umpire decided to take things into his own hands, several times he called serves out when the line judges hadn't said anything. Felt quite sorry for the model ballgirls too, some of them looked terrified when they were in the firing line for the serve :lol
  18. Re: ATP Tennis 10th-16th October - Stockholm, Vienna and Kremlin Cup! Any views on Feliciano Lopez to beat Stepanek today in Vienna? Lopez is the defending champion here. Both go into the tournament in similar form - Lopez made the final in New Haven, but went out in the 1st round of the 2 tournaments before that (Cincinatti and Canada), and in the 2nd round of the US Open. Stepanek made the final in Vietnam (but that was on carpet), and went out in the 1st round in Cincinatti and Canada and the 2nd round in the US Open. Also made the quarters in Tokyo. H2H is 3-0 to Stepanek, but other than that the two of them seem pretty evenly matched. Is it worth considering Lopez at 6/5 (Bet365)?

  19. Re: World Cup Quals, Euro Zone, Wed 12th October Quite like the look of Cyprus (+3) on the Asian handicap. Was 2.025 on Monday, but is down to 1.875 now. France have really struggled for goals in this qualifying campaign - they've scored 3 goals in their 4 home games so far - all 3 against the Faroe Islands. They failed to score past Ireland, Switzerland and Israel. Cyprus away from home lost 3-0 in Ireland, 2-1 in Israel and 1-0 in Switzerland. I've been far from impressed by the French in this campaign, and I'd be surprised if they manage to stick 4 or more past Cyprus, even though they look like they want to go for it. News from L'Equipe: "Raymond Domenech revealed the team on Tuesday for this decisive match against Cyprus at the Stade de France. Faced with the obligation to win and score goals, the French manager has chosen to go with an attacking 4-1-3-2 on paper, with Djibril Cissé and Sylvain Wiltord up front, comparable to the line up against the Faroe Islands in terms of the organisation (Henry played that game instead of Cissé). Les Bleus won 3-0. With Claude Makelele suspended, it's Sidney Govou, a much more attacking player, who comes into the team to make up the numbers. Patrick Vieira will play the defensive role alone, behind a very attacking trio of Zidane in the centre, Dhorasoo on the left and Govou on the right. The main "victim" of this selection is Florent Malouda. The Lyonnais, inconsistent in Switzerland (1-1), loses his place to his main competitor Vikash Dhorasoo. With William Gallas on the left of the defence, this means there is no left-footer in the team. Willy Sagnol regains his place on the right of defence in place of Anthony Réveillère. Sidney Govou has never been in the starting 11 in a World Cup qualifier. Probable teams: France: Coupet - Sagnol, Thuram, Boumsong, Gallas - Vieira, Dhorasoo, Zidane (cap), Govou - Cissé, Wiltord. Cyprus: Panagiotou (cap) - Louka, Lambrou, Elia, Garpozis - Makrides, Charalambous, Krassas, Charalambides - Konstantinou, Aloneftis" Sounds to me like it may be a case of square pegs, round holes, etc. Added to that, they say it's the same kind of approach they took to the Faroe Islands game, and they only managed 3 goals there, and that was with Henry playing, but he'll be missing tonight. If France win by 3 goals stakes are refunded, looks good to me.

  20. Re: ATP Tennis 3rd to 9th Oct - AIG Japan Open + Moselle Open @ Metz Hmm, that went well, didn't it? :$ Likhovtseva won the first game, wasted break points in the second, and proceeded to lose 11 games in a row. Ended up losing 6-1 6-1. She had the trainer on court in the first set, wish she'd just retired, would've saved my bet :lol. Lesson learned, stay away from women's tennis!
