  1. Re: World Cup Qualifiers 10th October 2009

I'm inclined to believe that they will do their best to win' date=' even more so - as I wrote above - that in the case of draw there is always a danger of a late goal, and they are in the pole position now, but would definitely fail to win the group if they lose to the Slovenians (as they simply will win in San Marino).[/quote'] I would just like to say that even if Slovakia lose, they can still win the group provided that they win in Poland. A win in Poland is not impossible in these circumstances as Poland will probably play for nothing and there are rumours about the Polish fans fans boycotting this game... Having said that, I think (and hope) we will beat Slovenia so that our Czech brothers have a chance to finish 2nd. Zabavnik (a Slovak defender) told to my friend that they will go for a win. I think we have a somewhat superior squad and our players have a slightly better form and there is the home advantage. I am having a smaller bet on Slovakia at 2.20+, I think this is a value price.
  2. Re: International World Cup 2010 Qualifying September 5th/6th

Slovakia - Czech republic I think that trio Rosicky, Koller and behind lines standing Bruckner is enough to beat slovakia team.
I am almost certain Rosicky will not start. You just don't jump into a game like this after such a long break, everyone who has played football knows it is very hard and I do not think the Czech manager is a gambler. I have actually placed a bet on Slovakia for once. The Slovakian manager is not as inept as his predecessors and I think Slovakia will play defensive style with fast counter attacks (they have a couple of pacy players for that).
  3. Re: Hockey World Championships 7/5 I wouldn't be all that surprised to see a Czech win. Russia haven't been TRULY tested so far; they narrowly beat Finland in a match that wasn't crucial and Sweden weren't motivated enough (I just came to this thread and I was surprised to find no mention of the fact that Sweden would rather play Slovakia than the Czech Republic - I had a decent wager on Russia because even those relatively low odds were value for me). If the Czech manage to sneak in a cheeky goal (something they are good at) and keep a clean scoresheet for a while, the Russians might get nervous and the home advantage might turn against them. In the other semifinal, Sweden are slight favourites. However, I also wouldn't rule out an upset here. One thing that makes me feel positive about Slovakia is slightly different tactics to the past championships. This year, Slovakia didn't go all out and attack madly in the group stages; in fact, their defensive performance against the Czechs was rather good. It almost felt as though the Slovakian coach told the players to preserve some of their strengths for later stages. The win against the Czechs will mean a lot for the morale of the team as well since it was Slovakia's FIRST win ever against the Czechs in a truly important match (World Championships or the Olympics). For these reasons, I think Slovakia will have more physical and mental strenght in the quarterfinals than usual.

  4. Re: Euro 2008 Group D Mar 28

Snyena, nice to see the other side of the fence. Can you tell all us Irish fans how Slovakia feel they will do ? How do you rate your team against say the Czechs ?
The wide public doesn't seem to be aware that Ireland's performances haven't been that convincing of late. As Thetwotwins points out, I think Slovakia will start defensively because there is a certain amount of respect (the Irish, Scottish, English and even Welsh footy have a similar reputation here - footballing tradition, strong at home due to great fans, physical, long ball style). The losses against the Czechs and Germany were to some extent caused by the previous manager's ineptitude. Against the Czechs, he started with only one striker and five midfielders, two of which were defensive midfielders out of form with very little skill on the ball (Valachovic and Hlinka). Also, Varga was in the defense and there wasn't any attacking player with flair in the the team. The carthorse that is Sebo couldn't do much up front on his own, he barely got to see the ball. You simply don't play like that at home; I knew we were going to lose the moment I saw the starting eleven. The situation against the Germans was similar and they outplayed us completely. The new manager Kocian has got rid of some of the deadwood in the team (Varga, Hlinka, Valachovic, Karhan, Reiter, ...) and while I don't agree with all of his selections, I think out team and tactics are better now. I think the Czech team is slightly better but they still have their own problems right now (ageing squad, the latest scandal involving prostitutes etc.). I don't think the Slovaks lack that much fotbaling-wise, but they need to work on their self-confidence. The Slovak team is very young (the oldest player against Cyprus was 28 or 29) and with some very promising youngsters emerging, it is going to improve further in the nearest future. I do not know enough about the Irish team so it is hard for me to predict the outcome of this game. In theory, if you managed to play so well against the Czechs, you should be able to repeat the same against us... but it doesn't always work like that in football.
  5. Re: Euro 2008 Group D Mar 28 Possible starting eleven for Slovakia: -------------Čontofalský-------------- Å inglár----Å krtel---Ľ. Michalík---GreÅ¡ko ----------------Borbély--------------- Žofčák----------Sapara--------Å vento -----------------Vittek--------------- ----------------Jakubko-------------- Čontofalský - very prone to mistakes but can be good on his day Å inglár - relatively new RB in the team, hasn't been too convincing so far - possibly a weak spot in the team Å krtel - European if not world class (the likes of Liverpool are rumoured to be after him), scores quite often for a defender Ľ. Michalík - replacement for the suspended Durica, tall fecker but might lack experience at this level... a recent Bolton acquisition, currently on loan to Leeds GreÅ¡ko - sucks imho Borbély - decent, honest and hard-working player imho Žofčák - replacement for the suspended Krajčík, might be a blessing in disguise for Slovakia... created 6 goals in last 3 games for Slovakia whenever he came on Sapara - playmaker, extremely gifted player but might lack match sharpness as the Norwegian league hasn't started yet Å vento - a very fast winger with decent dribbling, can get past players but tends to lack calmness in certain situations... very lightweight and might struggle against physical opposition Vittek - another classy player in the team apart from Å krtel, plays "in the hole" and scores quite often Jakubko - excellent in the air but that's about it, not sure why he is in the team Alternatives: J. Kozák in the creative midfielder role instead of Sapara - I pray that this will not happen as Kozak is slow, lazy and needs acres of space for his lethal passes (which is the only thing he is good at but it only works if he gets space which won't happen tomorrow) M. Čech - Porto regular, I'd play him at LB instead of GreÅ¡ko who is pap

  6. Re: Slovakia Liga I 27-29/10

Well, hope to count on your presence next time i will make a mistake! Though stake wasn't so big and i will be more coutious next time. PS : why don't you write any prediction in this thread ? :)
I write here from time to time, but I was too busy during the weekend - going to work doesn't go well with punting. I didn't have time to look at this game myself - I was extremely gutted when I found out about the result because the odds on Trnava were very nice. :( If you ever want to exchange info, you can reach me at ICQ (38142494) or MSN (msvitel@h*tmail.com) - I am in two closed networks of people with occassional very good tips.
  7. Re: Slovakia Liga I 27-29/10 Unfortunately for your bet, this match was a blatant fix. Artmedia sent out several players from their reserves. Cisovsky scored from his free kick only because he slipped up. It took him a few seconds to realize that he was supposed to look happy after scoring. Artmedia players were not trying at all, their defending was abysmal and it was only due to Trnava's ineptitude that it took them so long to score. When Trnava scored the winner, the Trnava fans themselves started chanting "skurvena liga" (fcuking league) and Artmedia fans joined them... this should give you an idea of what went on. The entire stadium booed the home team, about a dozen of fans even invaded the pitch and tried to insult the players, one of the fans threw a bike on the pitch. :lol A fix like this was possible because Trnava needed points to get into the top 8. The top 8 teams will fight for the title next spring, whereas the bottom four will join four other from the second division and there will fight for relegation/promotion. Watch out for Trnava v Artmedia if Trnava get into the top 8... the owners of these clubs have good relations and I fully expekt Trnava to "return the favour".

  8. Re: Slovak Liga 1 Weekend 23/9 - 24/9 My weekend "banker" is a Žilina win available at 1.57 (Bet365). Žilina are traditionally very good against Banská Bystrica, but I don't care about this stat. My main reason is Žilina's and Dare VrÅ¡ič's excellent form. I went to the midweek evening game Žilina v Ružomberok and Žilina beat last season's champions 2:0 in an excellent match, both goals courtesy of VrÅ¡ič who has not only been scoring for fun lately, but he orchestrates the midfield like few other players do (if any at all) in this league. The 6k+ fans must have been very happy with Žilina's performance and I think most of them will find a way to tonight's match as well.

  9. Re: Slovak Liga 1 Weekend 8/9 - 9/9 An interesting clash for Nitra's former top scorer Robert Rak who recently signed for Ruzomberok and scored four (!) in the previous round. Ever since his departure, Nitra have had problems with scoring. Ruzomberok should make a meal out of Nitra but the odds aren't very special. The same goes for Zilina who are in excellent form and Slovan are shite away.

  10. Re: Slovakia Tue 29/8 - Wed 30/8 So is everyone on Trnava tonight? Playing at Senec, which was Trnava's home stadium during the first few rounds of the season due to reconstruction. Also, Trnava fans (who traditionally follow the team to away games) will be hungry as they are banned from the home stadium for behaving like retards :) and Senec is only some 20-25 km away from Trnava. Senec's self confidence might be a bit shaky after a 6-0 thrashing by Zilina. Under normal circumstances, Trnava should be well ahead of Senec in every department so 2.74 seems like a very generous price. For the Swedes on here, here's my tip in Swedish: http://www.oddsnet.com/forum/forum.php?action=shthread&t_id=570728&m_id=1376145 p.s.: Inter 1-0 up at HT, I hope you guys took heed of my advice (unless Artmedia turn it around of course). :)

  11. Re: Slovakia Tue 29/8 - Wed 30/8 Aye, good to see you as well Tomas. Things have been rather hectic at DoxxBet but we are now finally ready to fly. ;) And I am currently on holiday, so managed to find time for posting, I hope this continues. Good to see a thread dedicated to Slovakian footy. p.s. Played footy with Zilina's Erik Novisedlak two or three times. He is currently on loan to Trencin, might ask him for some "insider info" when I meet him next. :)

  12. Re: Slovakia Tue 29/8 - Wed 30/8 I wouldn't say Inter are that bad, actually. If you look at the table, out of the seven games they've played so far, five were against teams from the first half of the table, positions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. Today they play the team in 5th, Artmedia. I watched Inter in Zilina when they managed a 1-1 draw. Suffice it to say Zilina are now flying high in the league so Inter surely can't be that useless! They also beat Ruzomberok 2-1 a home and out of the seven games they've played, only three were losses and only one by more than one goal. Artmedia are good, but they aren't the wonder from the previous year IMO. Edit: If you want a banker that has only marginally worse odds, grab Betway's 1.35 on Slovakia against Cyprus while it lasts. Sebo and a few other are on fire, can you honestly see Slovakia not winning this? I make the correct odds around 1.21.

  13. Re: Ice Hockey World Championships 2006 Ok, if SUI and BLR draw and Sweden lose, the mutual table of the four involved teams will look like this: 1. SVK 3 points, goal difference +2 2-3. SWE 3, 0 2-3. SUI 3, 0 4. BLR 3, -2 I hope I am not missing something crucial? Edit: This also means that BLR would be fecked (not SUI, as I wrote in my previous post).

  14. Re: Ice Hockey World Championships 2006

I'm afraid you've got it a bit confused here Martin' date=' but correct me if I'm wrong - Slovakia @ 3 pts and need eith Belarus or Switzerland win their encounter and they need to win the match vs Ukraine. The Sweden v Russia game has very little importance (only might give Slovaks a better chance - to catch up with the Swedes, but the encounter of the major importance is the Belarus game);)[/quote'] I might be wrong, but my reasoning is as follows: if Sweden lose and Slovakia beat Ukraine, Slovakia won't be screwed even if Belarus and Switzerland draw. In such case, Sweden, Belarus, Switzerland, and Slovakia would be level on points (5) and when comparing mutual matches, Slovakia would get ahead of Switzerland (better goal difference). Edit: I am not entrely sure the above is correct. I might have to sleep on this!
