  1. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Rd 26 & Co-op Champs Bit pushed for time tonight but one for me. Wigan (-12) to beat Hull FC @ 10/11 (Ladbrokes) 3/5 Wigan have a decent record against Hull with 20+ margin victories in their last 3 encounters at the DW/JJB Stadium. They've also been pretty solid overall at home this year with 7 wins from 12 with the h'cap applied. Hull really should be looking forward to the end of the season. Consistently failed to beat h'caps all season and have real personnel problems. Even Thorman has been recalled tonight - who was originally told he wouldn't play again for the club - due to injuries in the squad and Calderwood, Berrigan and Yeaman are amongst the absentees. All in all, on current form Wigan should have more than enough to take the 2 points tonight and I'll take them to do it by more than 2 scores. GL all :hope :ok

  4. Re: Rugby League..Super League 25 & Co-Op Championship

    Catalans (+8) to beat Bradford @ 10/11 (Various) 3/5
Well that's Mr Walters off my Xmas card list. No Bosc and even worse no Greenshields in the side :@. Bradford had a field day :sad. Gonna leave tonight's game. Wigan on the h'cap look the bet to me but they can be unpredictable at times and I've not had the best weekend so far. GL if anyone goes for anything :ok.
  5. Re: Rugby League..Super League 25 & Co-Op Championship Top shout on Leeds Greenhoff :clap. I'm a wimp when it comes to big handicaps myself :$. One for me tomorrow after a small loss on Friday: Catalans (+8) to beat Bradford @ 10/11 (Various) 3/5 Bradford have built up a little run of form recently winning 2 out of their last 3 games both with and without the handicapper. This seems to have coincided with them finally getting a settled side out and they'll be hoping to finish an awful season on a high in the last few games. However, Odsal has been a graveyard for them for the majority of this season and they've only cleared this line once in their 11 games there this season - a 36-22 victory over Wakefield. Terry Newton is their only notable recent absentee with a fractured cheekbone for tomorrow. Conversely, Catalans have also been disappointing away from home this season winning less than half of their games and lying in a disappointing 11th position in the Away League Table so far. However, an 8 point cushion has resulted in a victory in 16 out of their 24 games this season and they'll be hoping to earn a win here to increase the gap on fellow play-off chasers Warrington and Harlequins tomorrow. They welcome back playmaker Thomas Bosc, but still have Steve Bell, Jamal Fakir and Jason Croker amongst their absentees. All in all, although there is a sense that Bradford have finally got their act together in recent weeks, I'd fancy a bit more home form in the bag before trusting them to overhaul an 8 point start tomorrow. GL all :hope :ok

  6. Re: Rugby League..Super League 25 & Co-Op Championship Two for me tonight and the lines have now moved a bit again: Harlequins (+8) to beat Hull FC @ 10/11 (VCbet - 8/11 avail. at BlueSq) 3/5 Harlequins just looked far too large for me yesterday so snapped up some of the +8 before it got cut. They've stuttered in recent weeks but have still won 7 out of 12 away from The Stoop this season - of course, after the handicapper has had his say! David Howell, Karl Temata, Danny Orr and Chad Robinson all miss out while Danny Ward faces a late fitness test. Hull have injury problems of their own with Kirk Yeaman and Shaun Berrigan ruled out for the rest of the season this week. They join Peter Cusack, Jamie Thackray, Motu Tony and Richard Horne on the sidelines while Chris Thorman has been told he won't play again this season. They do, however have Epalahame Lauaki making his debut and Danny Washbrook returning from injury. They've underperformed all season and were 'nil-ed' by Huddersfield last time out at the K.C. and, although Quins are no Huddersfield, they still have a chance to make the play-offs and are a handy side away from home. Wakefield (+10) to beat Warrington @ 4/5 (Coral) 2/5 Wakefield also look a bit big here. They're missing talisman Danny Brough tonight through suspension but have won 7 out of 12 away from home with the 10 start this season. A worry that they're also missing Tony Martin - so have no recognised goal-kicker with Jamie Rooney out on loan - but they haven't exactly been trounced this season in what could have been a difficult year for them. It seems the bookies believe Warrington will not suffer from the impending Challenge Cup final next week whereas Huddersfield will. Granted, Warrington aren't facing a wounded Saints outfit - or missing 10 first-teamers - but surely some players will have one eye on the final next week. They're also missing some decent players in Matt King (alright, not all of them 'decent'!), Brian Carney, Mickey Higham, Paul Wood, Chris Hicks and Ben Harrison. All in all, despite their denials I feel Warrington will still have one eye on the final next week. They no doubt need the win to keep their play-off hopes alive but with them being nowhere near the Top 4, surely the final is their greatest chance of silverware this season? They should win this but I'll take Wakey to finish within the 10 tonight. GL all :hope :ok

  9. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 24 & Co-op Champs

Hull FC (+12.5) to beat Catalans @ 1.84 (betfair) 2/5
That was a close one :\. Been keeping an eye on team news for this one: Hull KR (+6) to beat St Helens @ 10/11 (bet365) 3/5 Have been umming and ahhing about this one and having seen the starting line-ups have gone for it. KR have already beaten Saints this season and look to be at near full strength with Scott Murrell their only notable absentee. They've been one of the underpriced teams all season and I'm going to have another go on them this afternoon. The big miss for Saints is Kyle Eastmond. Already replacing the injured Sean Long, his place is now filled by rookie Jamie Ellis. This on top of the already missing Keiron Cunningham, Chris Dean and Maurie Fa'asavalu. A strange position for this Saints side; this is the first time they've played after a Challenge Cup defeat for donkeys years so I'll take a chance on KR giving them another tough game today. GL all :hope :ok
  10. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 24 & Co-op Champs Unlucky GH. Didn't see the TV as I was invited to the Leeds/Cas game by a mate but saw the place had come in. Could have been worse - you could have backed Cas! :lol They were a complete shambles last night :$. Another one for me tonight: Hull FC (+12.5) to beat Catalans @ 1.84 (betfair) 2/5 Bit of a weird one this, I went for what I thought was a confident pick last night and it went a bit haywire so I'm going to go for a more marginal one. Catalans have an excellent home h'cap record this season winning 7 out of their 11 fixtures, however tonight's game is due to be played at an alternative venue in Beziers. Last time Catalans played away from their natural home they were humbled 12-24 by Warrington so I'm hoping this can affect them again. They will also have Steve Bell, Thomas Bosc and Shane Perry missing from their line-up tonight, although Clint Greenshields and Greg Bird return. Now Hull are definitely no Warrington but they have a few players returning tonight in Kirk Yeaman, Tom Briscoe and Jamie Thackray - although stand-off Richard Horne misses out. They've kept within this 12.5 line in 2 out of their last 3 away games (against two decent sides in Warrington and Hull KR as well) and although Catalans are the side with something to play for, I just have a small fancy for Hull to keep within the 2 scores tonight. GL all :hope :ok

  11. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 24 & Co-op Champs One for me tonight... Castleford (+14) to beat Leeds @ 10/11 (Ladbrokes) 4/5 Cas' look overpriced to me here. They've only lost 1 game this season with a 14 start - a 50-10 hiding to the league leaders at Knowsley Road - and were unlucky to lose in the reverse of this fixture when Kevin Sinfield kicked a last-gasp penalty for a cruel 22-24 loss. Kirk Dixon is out, but Brent Sherwin and Richard Owen are hoping to be fit. Leeds haven't hit the heights they did last season and have regularly failed to beat the handicapper all season (they are 12th out of 14 on my SL H'cap League table). They've suffered from poor discipline all season and just seem unable to get enough points on the board at times. Leeds, however are unchanged with Danny Buderus, Ryan Bailey, Ian Kirke and Paul McShane still missing. Slight doubt that the break may give the Rhinos a bit of a boost but on the evidence of the season so far, the gap between the top two and the rest of Super League seems to be closing. Which leads me onto a couple of ante-post bets... Huddersfield Giants to be Grand Final Winner @ 11.5 & Hull KR to be Grand Final Winner @ 26.0 (Betfair) 2/5 on each Surprisingly, although seemingly stuggling this year, the W/D/L league records of St Helens and Leeds are near identical between this year's table and this time last year. However, points differences are markedly different with Saints only on +301 to last year's +448 and Leeds on +206 to last year's +344. With this in mind, some could argue that the superiority enjoyed by the big two in past year's may be declining and this could finally be the year that another side makes the Grand Final. This theory is further backed up by Saints and Leeds' non-appearance in this year's Challenge Cup Final and I've taken a small bet on two of the other teams high up in the league. Other considerations for this bet were Wigan and Warrington but the Warriors looked a shadow of their former selves in last week's Semi and I want to see how Warrington fare this round; if they suffer an injury-affected defeat to Wigan tonight their price could drift further and I may be inclined to take them aswell. All these bets are with the view to trading out if they make the final so fingers-crossed they can break the trend. GL all :hope :ok

  14. Re: Golf: USPGA Championship 2009 3 for me... Sergio Garcia to win US PGA Championship w/out Woods @ 33/1 (VCbet) 1/5 (E/W) Has event form, course form, one of the longest off the tee and if he can hold it together for the whole 4 days, must surely be in with a chance. A worry regarding accuracy off the tee but 33s is plenty enough for me. Retief Goosen to win US PGA Championship w/out Woods @ 28/1 (VCbet) 1/5 (E/W) Relatively poor year by Retief's standards but tends to be around the leaderboard in Majors. Has some decent event and course form so is forgiven pretty poor record in US events this year and hope he goes well. Chad Campbell to win US PGA Championship w/out Woods @ 100/1 (VCbet) 0.5/5 (E/W) Long shot this one. Longish off the tee, excellent GIR%, lost out to Cabrera in Masters play-off this season and had a decent T11 finish last week. 100 seems a bit long. Not a big golf fan but enjoyed last week's Bridgestone. GL all :hope :ok

  15. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV, Challenge Cup Semi Finals & Co-op Champs Cheers Kev. Like you say should be a great final and you can't really split the two sides. Barring an injury crisis, looks like the line's going to be 2/4 tops. Huddersfield and KR have been consistent winners for me this season so might even have a little tinkle on them EW in the Grand Final.

  16. Re: Golf: WGC Bridgestone Invitational - Firestone Country Club Congrats lads :clap. Enjoyed reading this over the weekend and will probably have a tinkle next week. I wouldn't have posted this if it would have won or was unplaced (and I won't name it to keep with the rules ;)) but I've got to share this with someone. Managed to get a placed selection in the 'W/O Woods' market but due to Jimenez birdying the last it meant a dead-heat with only a third of my stake :@. So rather than feeling like I picked the right market with Woods taking the title, I'd have actually been better off with a normal EW outright bet on my selection as there were only the 5 places paid. Argh!!! :wall Not a big deal as it was only small stakes but I hate golf dead-heats sometimes :puke.

  17. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV, Challenge Cup Semi Finals & Co-op Champs One for me in tomorrow's semi... Huddersfield (+10) to beat St Helens @ 4/5 (Ladbrokes) 3/5 I seem to say the same things about Huddersfield over most of the rounds so won't bore people by saying them again. Basically speaking, this Huddersfield outfit have been consistently underpriced away from home all season and they could very well be again here. Danny Sculthorpe is cup-tied for them but they'll welcome back Paul Whatuira tomorrow afternoon. Saints also have Sean Long and Kieron Cunningham back tomorrow and no doubt have the better 'big-game' form, but I'm gonna take a chance on Huddersfield keeping within the 10 tomorrow and continuing their good form away from the Galpharm. It's also worth noting Saints were trounced 38-18 by Wigan in their only other game on neutral ground this season so here's hoping! Either way, it should be a cracker and may also be worth keeping an eye on with the possibility of these two meeting in the play-offs later this season. GL all :hope :ok

  20. Re: Rugby League..Super League Round 23 & Co Op Ch'Ships One for me tonight

Huddersfield (-4) to beat Hull FC @ 10/11 (Paddy Power) 3/5

Am a bit stuck for time this evening but like the look of Huddersfield tonight. For me, I feel the handicap is taking next week’s Challenge Cup Semi into account a bit too much. Away from the Galpharm they’ve only failed to be ahead of the handicapper once in their 11 games this year – a 40-18 loss away at Warrington. Hull meanwhile have only been ahead 3 times at the KC this season so it’s the Giants tonight for me.

  22. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 22 & Co-op Champs

Keith Senior to score anytime vs. Wigan @ 6/4 (Will Hill) 0.5/5
Senior had a couple of chances in the first half but couldn’t keep hold of the ball :(.

    One for me tonight...

Hull KR (-8) to beat Hull FC @ Evs (bet365) 2/5

Like the look of Rovers in the derby tonight. They have an excellent record in this fixture winning 5 out of the last 6 and have been consistently under-priced by the books all season. They’ve failed to clear the 8 handicap in only 4 of their 10 games at CravenPark this season, against Leeds, Huddersfield, Wigan and Harlequins. Quins apart, with that in mind this line won't be enough IMO against a team in Hull’s form. In team news, Ben Cockayne misses out from the squad last week while Stanley Gene is still out injured.

After an excellent start to the season, FC amazingly still have a chance of making the play-offs lying 2 points behind 8th placed Harlequins. Prior to the victory over bottom placed Celtic last week, they hadn’t been ahead of the handicapper since Murrayfield Magic and were looking like a side counting down the days ‘til the season finished. That victory may have given them a little bit of confidence this week but even so, in my mind I would still want more of a start before risking my cash on them. Kirk Yeaman is the big doubt tonight; he faces a fitness test over a groin injury.

    GL all :hope :ok
  23. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 22 & Co-op Champs Just a small one for me tonight.

Keith Senior to score anytime vs. Wigan @ 6/4 (Will Hill) 0.5/5 Along with Cas’ Michael Shenton, Senior has been arguably the form centre in Super League this season and appears to be having somewhat of a renaissance after retiring from international rugby. He’s scored in his last two at the JJB and also in his last two away from Headingley so I’ll have a little tinkle on him crossing the whitewash tonight. Likely to be up against Martin Gleeson and Amos Roberts, they’re a decent enough pairing but Senior’s 6/4 IMO looks large in comparison to Ryan Hall’s 8/11 (short as 8/15 in places :eek :unsure).

    GL all :hope :ok
