  1. Re: Synchronised ~ Would you run him in the National? Another slant on this question is if Jonjo did run both him and Sunnyhill Boy is in the race, what would Tony McCoy ride, the gold cup winner who is going for a remarkable double or a very well handicapped and in good form Sunnyhill? If I was McCoy, then Sunnyhill as he is the most likely winner of the two, but his heart could go with Synchronised. The risk may be also how he is after experiencing the National fences. Looking at the form of last week's race I wouldn't be at all surprised that if Synchronised remains in top chases he'll struggle to win another race with the opposition coming up the ranks.

  2. Re: A Question & Idea I wish them both the best as they've been so decent in providing their advices here and scrolling through their respective threads, profitable too. Perhaps this leaves an opening/s for someone else to kick off their own thread if that's what they want to do and have the stamina. There does seem to be many who post daily on the BBOTD thread who may be raring to go. Good luck to them. As stated above that's not for me as I'm a hopeless tipster, well average at best, although in an another guise I had a very high placing in the recently completed Betfair forum Irish Sports winter tipping competition - but I'm not going to crow about that!!! My only experience of people running tipping lines is that they need to have someone else dealing solely with the admin and members etc. The tipster should be able to just concentrate on selection as to do both is too diluted. James is in his early 20s I believe and I suspect like many of us in Ireland he has found it difficult to secure employment. So, he's looked at his skills set and what he's good at. Obvious really. Good decision. I just hope he has someone separately dealing with the admin. James, if you haven't well I am currently one of the 400k or so in the same boat, I'd do it. Jaysus, you could pay me in tips. I'll stop there, I'm beginning to beg.

  3. Re: A Question & Idea I've come back to the site in the last few months although I was here a few years ago but didn't post much. I've grown to like it since and now am involved in the golf weekly competition and am posting more regularly, more in the chat threads than tipping, particularly if I know the answer to something - at least I feel I am helping some one out there. I've also found the snooker and darts thread along with the cricket very rewarding, some amazing tipsters on those forums as there are here. I'm a hopeless tipster and I was a systems man but could never find the right system for me, still seeking. To be honest I am a bit daunted to enter the BBOTD as I suspect many others are as we just don't feel we are good enough, also like I think like BKI above I'd only be really keen to tip for the quality racing rather than daily. Each to their own though. I've found myself following threads and have become a bit of an anorak popping up and thanking the likes of CPO and Aidymac amongst others. With all these great threads and tips I'm keen to make sure I contribute too if only to offer an answer where one is needed. Out of curiosity, and I suspect its against board rules, but how do you find out about Monte and Mileni if you want to weigh in with them? Fintron too. They obviously can't advertise here and I've just googled their user names here and come up with nothing. Have I now committed a mortal PL sin by just even being interested to see how they are getting along?

  4. Re: Rio's Racing diary 2010 Rio Just want to say what a joy it is to read your posts. With you it does seem so much more than backing horses and your obvious love for the sport really shines through in your posts and the wonderful photographs. And you're showing a profit as well. Thanks for sharing these thoughts.

  5. Re: The PSST System Three more losers. I'm going to quit this one. Too many short priced losers, also selections overbet because they are highlighted up in the selection box. I was a keen systemite but to be honest I can never find one that I can be really confident about.

  7. Re: Grands Crus goes RSA I believe he'd have foundered in a fast run Gold Cup, this is much more the sensible decision for a novice. Yes, some winners have struggled afterwards and apart from Denman previous winners of this race include Garrison Savannah, Minnehoma, Florida Pearl, Looks Like Trouble and interestingly enough Alberta Run back in 2008. He has the potential if he progresses to be a major force next year.

  8. Re: Tues: 2.05 Arkle Challenge Trophy

Naturally it's hard for anyone to oppose SS with real conviction - it's a very high class horse who's progressed a lot better than i'd expected him to if i'm being honest. I just have a feeling that if SS slips up at all in the last 3-4 fences, look for Al Ferof or Menorah to be powering home. Not saying i'm sure it'll get beat, but I don't think it's going to be anything like the walkover people expect. Look at Al Ferof's finish last year in the Supreme Novices where it seemed(or at least it did to me) that it had no chance until it sprouted wings on the turn down the hill and responded so well to Walsh - another reason I consider SS opposable. Especially as, in my opinion, SS has shown himself to be very good on flat tracks but as was shown in the supreme novices last year, he found very little off the turn for home. Totally different horse this year, but wonder if Cheltenham and it's undulations could be his undoing. On Menorah at 9's with PP today, although instantly feel like a mug for not going e/w. Here's hoping.
Have to agree with you and very disappointed the race has cut up so bad, now only 2 places, although reading a lot of comments from trainers at various preview nights the vast majority believe he is unbeatable. It seems like they've just voted with their feet. He's good, yes, bloody good, but until I can see for myself that he can get up that hill, I'll oppose him. Al Ferof the obvious one. If there were 3 places up for grabs, I'd be with Cue Card over Menorah. With the exception of Spirit Son, I can see a similar turn out here to last year's Supreme Novices finish.
  9. Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2012 AK1979 I only came across this thread just before Christmas. I think then I spent the New Year period going through it and last year's one. You deserve 3 of your biggest payouts fighting it out coming up to the last and then you can start to light your cigar. You'll be puffing away well before one of them gets to the line. Unlike yourself I have tended to take a view and while I'm green on Prince de Beauchene, Treacle, Cappa Blue, Planet of Sound and too a lesser extent a few others such as Shakalakaboomboom, The Midnight Club, Neptune Collonges, Black Apalachi, Mon Mone & Uncle Juinior, I can't be having either Ballabriggs or Junior and I'm confident enough at this stage. Good trial coming up on Tuesday.

  10. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012 Aidymac Magnanimity. Interesting thought as I've been wondering where he may turn up next and Dessie Hughes' yard looks like they may be slowly coming back to form after a wretched season. I think we also underestimate course form too at the festival and I'd be happy to give him one more chance there. I can also see Gigginstown progressively more targeting their ever increasing string at handicap level. He'll go off at a price here as well so long as he's not Pricewised on the day. Good luck.
