  1. Re: Virgin Poker Festival

I didn't know who you were and I did try to shake your hand when you were eliminated but you went in the other direction. I was the person sitting to the left of Tikay and the person who called your raise of AQ when I was short stacked and only had 66. I then nervously said I hoped you had AK which surprised some at the table but when you raised I knew you had a big hand - I was just hoping it was not a big pair. I had to call though as I was so short. Anyway - I had you down as a good player and I will say hi next time now I know who you are.
  2. Re: Virgin Poker Festival I just want to say hi to Gazza here. I was sitting on your table all day. I recognised you from the picture but wanted to read your report first in case I was mentioned at all :lol

  3. Re: STT's play theory, call or fold early with a premium pocket pair Fold. Assuming the blinds are 10/20 and given you have raised 150 showing the strength of your hand to have two all ins after you makes it a fold. I would make the fold even without player notes but seeing as the notes say one of the two is a good player confirms the fold. If it was just one player then call and be heads up but two makes it likely you are beat. Even if you win and triple up by the time you get to the business end of the STT when blinds are 400/800 having 4500 no means guarantees going through

  4. Re: Your Play - WSOP Super Sat Bubble

I suppose to keep the short stacks very short. They only have 2500 chips between them. Why "donate" an extra 800. He can't put pressure on them anymore (or at this stage anyway.) He doesn't have to play this hand or the next by which time he may be through. Only thing I can think of.
  5. Re: Was not expected that!

The min raise preflop on the button could have meant anything, the only mistake he made was going all in on the river when he should have jusy flat called the raise.
This hand was round one of a 100K guaranteed with a large buy in (realtively speaking). It would be fair to assume that players are of a reasonable standard and not playing for the first time or are inexperienced. Most people know that min raises are poor plays as they price in opponents so it is usually done with a monster hand. Not always of course but often. This plus the calls on the flop and turn showed he was not going anywhere.
  6. Re: Your Play - WSOP Super Sat Bubble UTG is basically in a position where he has to get lucky and can't fold his way to a seat. He has to do something so the correct call for him is to go all in with any two cards and hope to quadruple up. If he quadruples up he can sit out the next three hands on BB and SB and button and still have chips. He has to assume that the button with the stack he has will call. UTG has to make something happen. He is unfortunate that the button folds. I therefore disagree with the theory that UTG automatically has a premium hand. He could have but he could also have any two cards. On that basis KJ suited could be the best hand. I think the correct decision is to call as has been stated just winning one pot would leave more chips than folding.

  7. Re: Was not expected that! No Wind up here. I come here to read the other sports forum (have done for the last 6 months or so) and sometimes pop in here to read up. I'm not quite to sure why I posted last night to be honest. I normally wouldn't bother. You asked if it was possible to get away from the hand here and what certain individuals would have done and I gave an answer. If you think it was just a cold deck then fine.

  8. Re: Was not expected that!

[ I have limped into the money twice in this tourney, which is not bad I suppose, but today I had it in mind to make the most of oppotunities when they arose not to play over cautious and make sure I was as far away from that bubble as possible. There are only 3 hands that can beat me did his play signify one of these hands?
There is a fine dividing line between "over cautious", aggresive and reckless and you went too far on this hand. There were two clues that you were beat - the biggest one was the min raise pre flop. Your call on this only suggestd you did not have AA (or indeed any A) It suggested you have a smallish pocket pair and the way you played it bore this out. The other clue was the big raise on the river but I guess you know this. At that stage you had only committed 340 chips and still had over 2000 to play with. If he was bluffing let him have his bluff - you can catch him later, when you have more information. Basically min raise pre flop + large river raise here = fold.
  9. Re: Limped Mid Pair that's an Overpair on Flop I would say thats an excellent fold. With all the limps you have no idea where you stand and you could be behind to so many hands here. At a guess he has two pair and put in the raise to see where he stands. Even if you are ahead you hand is vulnerable to so many cards that could come on the turn/river you are best folding here. You have no odds calling hoping to hit your 10.

  10. Re: Cricket: 2007 World Cup - Betting Thread Nice analysis about Bangladesh Kev. You can also add India 1983 to Sri Lanka 1995 list as prior to 1983 India were minnows in the one day game. Before The India Bermuda game I took Bagladesh @ 75 on betfair to win. They are out to 120 now :$ . The theory was that Bangladesh were still underrated, and maybe their win against New Zealand in the warm ups was not such a fluke after all. If they could beat NZ once they could do it again and also beat England and or Ireland/Zinbabwe. This would leave them needing to win one more game to qualify for the semis. Bit far fetched maybe and I'd had a couple at the time :cheers but at 120 it may be worth a go and if the win was a flash in the pan against India it may still be possible to trade out at a small loss (or indeed let it ride as it was only a small bet)

  11. Re: PL Poker night live - Birmingham, 25/03/06: Confirm here I just wanted to reply to Peneloypys request for directions (if noone else has yet sent them to you). Basically when you arrive at Birmingham Airport there are two alternatives for getting to the town centre. Either Taxi (obviously) or there is a train link. To get to the train station when you arrive in the main hall at the airport turn left and continue to the end of the building (it's only a small airport). On the upper level there is a free monorail(maglev) train link which goes direct to Birmingham INTERNATIONAL train station. There are regular trains from there to Birmingham NEW STREET Station which is in the centre of town. These take from 10 - 30 mins. At New Street train station you will need to go up some escalators to go through the ticket barrier then straight ahead are some more escalators which you will also need to go up. At the top turn left and soon you will find the exit and will need to walk down a ramp(passed a mcdonalds on the right). At the bottom of the ramp turn left and go to the pedestrian zone. The first building on the left is a bookstore and next to it is an entrance to Burlington Arcade and the hotel is here. From there you are basically in the centre of town and ideally placed to enjoy the many varied and wonderful sights of Englands finest city.:nana

  12. Re: Bamses Loss Recovery Hi Bamses - GL with this. Is there any chance you could put up a hypothetical (or real) example of how the strategy would cange with say 10 losses in a row. How would your divisor or goal change? how much would you be staking on bet 11 and would the aim be to recover all the losses or would it be to slowly re coup them. Thanks

  13. Re: Laddies Ladders My main memory of playing the final table is that the blinds are still at 8 minute intervals so as it was a tight game it soon became a bit of a crap shoot at the end.
