  1. Re: Hand Theory, Lets see how you play it Without getting too embroiled in the debate i think this is definitely a shove pre. We are often picking up a decent pot given stack sizes completely uncontested. If we do get a caller and they have limped Aces then that's 'good game' i guess. Otherwise we may be racing however i think people rarely limp in this spot with big hands of the ilk of AK and AQ etc. If we are racing then we have a very decent chance to double up anyway and it isn't a disaster. I am pretty sure a shove pre-flop here is definitely +EV as we pick up this pot uncontested a whole lot.

  2. Re: ICOP----virgin poker I actually managed 10th in the main event, was even leading it for a decent spell and maybe should have cashed better. Sadly took a beat when 70/30 ahead on a river for the chip lead pot and went out 10th. I played for 12 hours and noted it was still going at lunchtime the next day. Somehow they hadn't scheduled enough blind levels and it just stuck at 15k and 30k which meant it went on for a ridiculous length of time. It must have finished at not far off 24 hours which is just foolish. Really poor organisation!

  3. Just out of curiosity were any of you lot playing .25/.50 cash at Aspers two weeks ago on Friday? I was down for the weekend in Newcastle with the lads and went to the casino after my night out and played for a couple of hours until about 5am or so. The reason i ask is because i have noted a lot of you are Newcastle based and play there, and one of the guys on the table (seemed fairly solid, young, wearing a cap) was talking to the dealer about a forum and asked if i played online. I am just curious if it was any of you guys? If it helps jog your memory i'm young, had shaved ginger hair and lost a stack in a horrible cooler where i flopped a full house and someone turned a better one. Anyone?:lol

  4. Re: Hand from the $3 Rebuy on Stars

big stack limps, calls min raise, good flop for you, you lead out bb shoves, which is fine, im calling, could be top pair trying to protect his hand from from a flush/opendraw, the only thing thats worrying me, you raise 1100 bb shoves 5k and dmccon12 calls, its alot of action and your still out of position on the hand, if your hand doesnt improve on the turn whats the plan? 7k of your stack will be gone, if its verses BB only im happy to call, but when dmccon12 calls the 5k i could fold here...and move on to next hand..
If i am honest i briefly considered flat call and dismissed it as we just put ourselves in a horrible position on the turn at times. dmccon may also clam up if the over card or flush does it. The two options i fully considered were shove or fold. My stack is such that a fold doesn't harm me overly however if i do get it all in here and win i'm top 10 stacks in the tournament.
  5. Re: Hand from the $3 Rebuy on Stars

Pre-flop raise is pretty small' date=' but getting it on on the flop with 2 overs and a flush draw is never a bad thing. Same goes for flush/straight draw (open end or gutshot), and pair + a flush draw.[/quote'] Aye the preflop raise is horrible, i was multi-tabling and thought the BB was 150. Would others be in agreement that we are fine to get it in here? Is there an argument to wait for a better spot?
  6. This might be a really trivial spot but i am curious to know how this should be played/how you would all play this. We are 20 minutes into the second hour of the tournament and the rebuy period is over. Both villains were noted as being pretty bad in my time at the table so far although i don't have stats as i don't use any programs while playing. Both were quite loose/bad however. Any thoughts as to what we do here? When i played this i was pretty sure i made the right move but really fancied some feedback as relatively similar hands crop up often for me. EDIT: Just noticed my pre-flop raise is weird, i thought the BB was 150 at the time. *********** # 10 ************** PokerStars Game #40008226698: Tournament #285010515, $3.00+$0.30 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (125/250) - 2010/02/19 20:33:36 WET [2010/02/19 15:33:36 ET] Table '285010515 253' 9-max Seat #7 is the button Seat 1: Zigahn (6450 in chips) Seat 2: Gurthee (6675 in chips) Seat 3: dmccon12 (22415 in chips) Seat 4: Mr Meykes (6175 in chips) Seat 5: boboroseto (6775 in chips) Seat 6: kill999 (10750 in chips) Seat 7: tommylaan (8050 in chips) Seat 8: jammy27 (12685 in chips) Seat 9: TinTin_Ro (5625 in chips) Zigahn: posts the ante 25 Gurthee: posts the ante 25 dmccon12: posts the ante 25 Mr Meykes: posts the ante 25 boboroseto: posts the ante 25 kill999: posts the ante 25 tommylaan: posts the ante 25 jammy27: posts the ante 25 TinTin_Ro: posts the ante 25 jammy27: posts small blind 125 TinTin_Ro: posts big blind 250 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to jammy27 [Kc Ac] Zigahn: folds Gurthee: folds dmccon12: calls 250 Mr Meykes: folds boboroseto: folds kill999: folds tommylaan: folds jammy27: raises 350 to 600 TinTin_Ro: calls 350 dmccon12: calls 350 *** FLOP *** [9c 2d Tc] jammy27: bets 1100 TinTin_Ro: raises 3900 to 5000 and is all-in dmccon12: calls 5000

  7. Re: Pokerstars f40 billionth hand promo Finished 1378th for $241.91. To be honest i just feel disappointed more than anything but i cannot complain too much. Well done Washman also for holding on for a similar (possibly identical?) cash. Thanks for the good luck messages at the tables too chaps.

  8. Re: Railing Weird, thought i'd mentioned it. What a muppet i am!:$ It was on Virgin and i took 2nd for 610 Euros. My name is PhonyG on there which would have probably helped also! Called a huge shove over my raise Heads Up with A4 suited convinced i was ahead against a majorly aggressive villian but sadly he had A6 suited and hit his 6. Still, a good night!

  9. Re: ICOP----virgin poker I think there could well be some overlay in these. I am likely to play in all the No Limit events that i am free for but i won't be playing the Omaha unless i learn it in a matter of weeks!

  10. Re: Railing At the final table of the 3000GTD 10 Euro rebuy with the chip lead just now. Hoping for a good score after bubbling the 4k GTD in 24th and 23rd in successive nights in slightly rubbish spots.:ok

  11. Re: 5 Step 2 Buyins - See Where I End Up? Turned that Step 2 ticket into a Step 3 ticket then went out 8th when 99 hit a set against my KK and we got it in on a 9 high board. Not had a lot of luck at this step situation at all! I do still have one Step B ticket but i'll provisionally call this a failure and go back to grinding normal satellites and tournaments. I'll notify if i manage anything with that Step B ticket and apologise for how terribly short lived this was!

  12. Re: 5 Step 2 Buyins - See Where I End Up? Decided to screw it and play my Step 3 before bed. Made a bit of a mess of a hand and got AK suited in against AA which needless to say held up. Quite annoyed at tonight's play but i still have a couple of tickets i can potentially grind up. Will give that a shot tomorrow night. Amended table below. BUYINS 5 x $27 Step 2s 1 x 7.50 Euro Step B CURRENT TICKETS 1 x $27 Step 2 1 x 7.50 Euro Step B

  13. Re: 5 Step 2 Buyins - See Where I End Up? That's me done for tonight gentlemen. Managed to turn my Step 1 ticket into another Step 2 ticket and the Step B ticket into another Step B ticket after horribly bubbling the entry into Step C due to a tough beat and opponents lunatic play when we could have almost certainly knocked a guy out. A brief summary so far is as follows: BUYINS 5 x $27 Step 2s 1 x 7.50 Euro Step B CURRENT TICKETS 1 x $82 Step 3 1 x $27 Step 2 1 x 7.50 Euro Step B Mediocre start but onwards and upwards. Thanks for the support!

  14. Re: 5 Step 2 Buyins - See Where I End Up? 1st Attempt - Get pocket aces all in on the turn and guy calls with an open ended straight draw and nut flush draw and gets there on the river. My second table hadn't even opened by the time i was out. This was about three hands in.

  15. Hi chaps, i've been a member on here for ages and frankly mainly lurked however i feel inclined to now join in the nonsense as you seem like a decent bunch! I was reading the thread made by Slapdash earlier about his Steps challenge and noted i had enough in my account to have a bash at 5 Step 2s so i pretty much just plan to do that and see where i end up. Obviously a mere 5 tokens doesn't leave a lot of room for error but i'll see how i go. For what it's worth i'm a 22 year old part-time player of a few years and my biggest tournament cashes are no bigger than a grand or so, i also have issues with bankroll management but hey ho! Anyway, i'll document my progress in this thread mainly for my own use and if i can do anything like as well as Slapdash has then i'll be happy. Any comments are of course more than welcome! I'll probably just two table these or something to start with. jammy27 is the name on Stars if anyone is arsed. I haven't played on there much of late until tonight however.

  16. Re: PokerGod3 - Key Hands Review I don't hate any of these. If i am being honest i think that they mainly play themselves and maybe barring tiny changes most decent players would play them in the same way. The only hand i might play much differently is Hand 3 however i am not saying i'd be playing it better. Hand 3 - I am raising preflop then probably checking flop with the near absolute nuts. I think we get fortunate that he has a 7 here if i am honest and that your flop bet in general is a little large. I'll rarely slowplay a hand but here i am. There is no harm letting him hit a card or bluff at you here at all in my opinion. Thanks for posting the hands for review.
