  1. Re: Champions League 20/21.02.2006

INTER - VALENCIA - 1 1.8 Why?Because now is the moment for Inter 2 show that it's capable to win in Europe with strong teams not only in Italy with Sampdoria,Cagliari & Co.They have a strong team, better than Valencia. On the oder hand Valencia don't know how to play like visitors if they face a strong enemy.Thinking also at the Inter's fans i am sure that they can win without conciding any goal. So i'm on Inter also for Mancini, which can't leave this team becauce of his results and i think now is the moment to show everybody his qualitty. So,i repeat,INTER ,even tough i don't like them at all but when i think making money i must be fair and play with mind not with soul. GL:ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok
Golo I think you undervalue a Valencia team which has just come off a sharp 3-1 win over Barcelona at the weekend. It is true, the team was in terrible shape earlier in the season when they were literally ripped apart by injuries, however they still managed to top their group with an understrength squad. With all their players back on board, they will really test Inter who have had a pretty easy ride in Serie A this year. Another stat, two years ago they visited the San Siro in the group stages and held Inter to a 0-0 draw. The real value is represented in Valencia for this match. Valencia 3.20 DNB
  2. Re: Australian A League Preliminary Final - Adelaide Vs Newcastle Jets (Sun Feb 11) I am preparing a big plunge on Adelaide tonight, I don't want to come off as reckless but for me there are a couple of important points - 1. Vital defensive cog Jade North missing in action for Newcastle. Newcastle not known for their player depth and he will be missed in defense. 2. Adelaide's finals experience. I think the bitter disappointment from last season and the way they lost last week gives them added impetus to go one better this year. Welcome your thoughts.

  3. Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 29-30)

Bet of the round must be Seville away to Grasshoppers.Sitting second in La Liga, don't concede many goals and great on the counter attack. A win here and qualfication is done and dusted.
Spanish teams have a terrible habit of grinding out draws away from home. Anyone else share my opinion or think otherwise? Some stats would be interesting, I think this might be a good spot for an unders bet.
  4. Re: Champions League Wednesday 22 Nov

I am going out on a limb here, don't be blindsided by the huge odds on offer. Olympiakos to beat Valencia - 10.50 I watched Valencia lose to Sevilla 3-0 yesterday, they were terrible, no penetration, no invention the performance was truly poor. Edu tore his cruciate ligament in this match and he is out for 6-7 months, adding to the injuries of Marchena, Albelda, Gavilan, Del Horno and Moretti. At least 4 of these players could be considered automatic starters so the squad is starting to look really thin. Olympiakos scored twice in their last encounter which Valencia won 4-2 so they can definitely get amongst the goals, they need to win and Roma need to falter to have any chance of staying in the competition, but I guess there is still a UEFA cup spot at stake so this will add to the incentive for Olympiakos to do well in Spain. Olympiakos are way overs and are definitely capable of causing a boilover here.
On my local bookie's website (Centrebet) Olympiakos have come in from 10.50 to 8.00.

Just had a quick skip through the list. I paid particular attention to the Chelsea game. I'll probably be laying them this time around. Not that I'm all for conspiracy theories and the like, but, Chelsea have Levski at home next up to lock in the group winner spot, Bremen need this win to leave them only needing a point at the nou camp. Chelsea have Man Utd to play at the weekend. Any thoughts. Probably a no bet round for me otherwise.
Postman I really like your thinking. Also the fact that they could almost eliminate Barca from the comp at this stage, that could definitely play a role. Barca would perhaps be considered their biggest rivals, and major contenders for the trophy. They could kill two birds with one stone having them knocked out at this early stage.
  7. Re: Champions League Tuesday 21 Nov Likely to be a tight affair I think, with UEFA cup place at stake for both teams, need to see squads first, if c DARK is correct and Rebrov is missing that is definitely a big blow for the Ukrainians, and their form away from home has never been fantastic, is the weather in Bucharest different to Kiev at the moment? Gee the 3.90 for Lyon appears massive, anyone have any info for this fixture? Injuries, suspensions?? For memory Lyon beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last season. Perhaps the bookies have been blindsided by Real's recent form in the Spanish League, I would be interested to see what others are thinking about this game.

  8. Re: Greece - National Liga (Nov 18-19)

Bee true Atromitos are no mugs' date=' but you have to wonder what the chances are of one of the smaller teams in Greece managing to beat the top 2 greek teams for the past god knows how many years, in the space of 3 weeks. I may be looking to load up on Pana' in this fixture, will wait till closer to kick off and check starting line ups etc.[/quote'] Hope you all loaded up, 4-0 away from home :beer
  9. Re: NBA Week 3 thread (20-10, +$1079 on the year)...

Chicago at Houston: No strong opinions here except to say' date= when in doubt, I always take the points...Both teams coming off tough losses and are in bounce-back mode...The Bulls have been super-flaky to this point this season, which will happen when a team relies solely on outside shooting to win games on offense, so I am picking my spots carefully with this team...Both teams are defensive-minded, so the Under is the natural play, except this is a National TV game on TNT, where it just seems like games find ways to get Over the total...
Brewers I would like to commend you for your great results thus far, and your thorough analysis, however don't hedge on your analysis, because this confuses us and dilutes your results. Above you said under is natural play, but these games find ways to get overs. I think many would prefer if you just gave us supporting evidence for your selection, as you have effectively eliminated the validity of your selection by saying it will probably go overs. Its just a thought, and I hope you continue with your superb results.
  10. Re: Greece - National Liga (Nov 18-19)

Initial thoughts are that Atromitos might be worth a small stakes bet. They beat Olympiacos at home and are no mugs' date=' 7.06 looks a bit big.[/quote'] Bee true Atromitos are no mugs, but you have to wonder what the chances are of one of the smaller teams in Greece managing to beat the top 2 greek teams for the past god knows how many years, in the space of 3 weeks. 11. Re: International Friendlies (Nov 14-15)

    AUSTRALIA v GHANA

Two new defenders might be Brett Holman (22 y.o., player of Nijmegen) and Griffiths (25 y.o., player of Rapid Bucarest
Jerry your article is very good, however both of the above mentioned players are attacking players. This makes the argument that Australia's defence will be even weaker. Michael Beauchamp (Nuremburg) will likely come in to the defence along with Michael Thwaite (Dinamo Bucharest). Both players are very young and inexperienced, however I see Ghana's main threat being in midfield, and Australia will be lacking in this area as well, no Tim Cahill, no Harry Kewell.... All the clues pointing to Ghana win at this stage.
  12. Re: International Friendlies (Nov 14-15) Jaroiten great post there, good information. I am very curious about Spain, they have lost 2 consecutive euro qualifiers and Puyol, Ibanez, Xavi and Albelda are missing. Torres also overlooked, 5 newcomers in the squad, anyone have any news on the Romanian squad for this fixture? Surely if they bring their best team they are a chance knocking the Spaniards off here, even though the price suggests that this is unlikely.

  13. Re: Champions League (Nov 1)

celtic are gd at home away against a team who play well at home i aint to sure' date=' im even temptin on the benfica -1 i think 2-0 or 3-1 benfica[/quote'] Celtic no good away from home?? Celtic took the game to Man Utd at old trafford only a month back to go down 3-2, and were in poor form and missing key players. If anything they have improved since then and a point will almost guarantee qualification to the next round. I will be favouring a draw in this fixture.
  14. Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 19th Oct

Odense v Parma The Italians will be travelling to Odense without the following players: Matteo Contini, Damiano Ferronetti, Andrea Gasbarroni, Vincenzo Grella, Zlatko Dedic, Vitali Kutuzov, Domenico Morfeo, Zlatan Muslimovic and Fernando Couto.
9 players listed, how many would be considered first team regulars?
  15. Re: Champions League 17/18 October 2006 Uncoabis I like your optimism however even you yourself could admit, you would never tip against Chelsea :spank I agree the GK does not make the team but you can bet your bottom dollar that when Cech is in goals, the defence would be tremendously more confident than with Hilario, who has yet to debut even in the Premier League

  16. Re: Champions League 17/18 October 2006

Steaua-Real Madrid-away win.Real is not in good form but they will come in romania with only one thought-win against Steaua. The difference against those two teams is very big(value of the players , money) and if they eill win in Bucharest they will take a serious opsion for the qualifing.
I am glad that the one thought Real Madrid will have in their mind against Steaua - is to win. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't almost every team in the world go into matches thinking they should win?? If they don't think there is a chance of winning they shouldn't be in the competition. I think this debate about the value of the team has been flogged like a dead bull and it does not need to be raised again. If the value of the team had anything to do with winning football competitions Real Madrid should have won the Spanish league the last 3 years in a row.
  17. Re: Champions League 17/18 October 2006

Tuesday looks really good , first thoughts: Anderlecht, Benfica, Lyon (looks a banker), Lille, Coppenhagen, Porto, Real (this might suprise a few people but i think Real will win ). deeper thoughts later .
Anderlecht is good value, but I can never write Milan off in this competition. After average performance away to Lille, they will want to crank up the intensity and start looking towards the next phase. Look for Milan to take something away from Constant Vanden Stock. Benfica are hardly the best team in Portugal at this moment (running 4th), but they tend to do well in this competition. Celtic are clear leaders in Scotland and when one of your midfielders can nab a hat trick like Nakamura did on the weekend, the team morale would be tremendous. Anyone have any stats on Portuguese results at Celtic Park? 1.60 for Celtic DNB very encouraging for mine. Arsenal are lookin good in the prem but I don't know enough about CSKA to comment on that match. Lyon would def appear to be a banker, but what can we make of Kiev at this stage since they have conceded 9 goals in 2 matches... perhaps someone from Ukraine can comment as I am thinking Kiev would be looking to waterproof that leaky defence. Also as a side note, Lyon were quite ordinary on the weekend against St Etienne, Juninho scoring a sloppy late goal to get the points. Agreed Lille look good against AEK especially as AEK will be looking forward to the big Athens derby with Panathinaikos on the weekend, but what would appeal to me even more is the 1.55 for under 2.5 goals I can't see Copenhagen getting three points but perhaps the 8.60 for the draw represents some serious value. Sort of feels like a 'tie' bet in Baccarat :rollin Porto again agreed and good value available for them to win. Real Madrid, probably my best advice is to stay away from this fixture. Capello is trying to get the cogs in motion and I think he will succeed, but at present it is so hard to pick them for form as they lost on weekend to a very good Getafe outfit. On the other hand, they have only conceded 3 goals in 6 matches in the spanish league so they are heading in the right direction by fixing their defence. Bordeaux v Liverpool is another game where the under 2.5 goals appeals to me, my only concern is that Bordeaux are yet to find the net and are surely due a goal at some stage. Barcelona over 3's you don't get that very often. Messi and Ronny are really firing, both found the net against Sevilla on the weekend and it remains to be seen if Chelsea will field Cudicini or Hilario in goals as there is next to no chance that Cech will be available. If Hilario plays I think Barca can take 3 points. Galatasaray vs PSV I think its a shot in the dark, not much between them, PSV are not as clinical as last season with Hiddink at the helm, perhaps another under 2.5 If Inter want to have any chance of qualifying for next phase, 3 points is a must. Inter to grab the first goal. Roma to take something from Athens, Bayern to take something from Lisbon, Valencia to shake up Shakhtar and nothing more needs to be said about Werder Bremen.
  18. Re: Slapdash systems 2006

You have another thread on this dont you? have you had better results using the double compared to this, im lagging behind you lot arent i lol If one wins and one places will they do 6 x 2.4?
Richards I would suggest you have a good read through both of Slapdash's threads in this section of the forum as all your questions would be answered.
