  1. Re: Longshots Racing Blog Antepost: 1000 Guineas Tapestry - 1pt EW, 10/1 Coral This is a massive price, I see her as the 1000 Guineas filly and Bracelet as the one for the Oaks from the Aidan O'Brien yard. She is very well bred, has speed and if you think she was very unlucky at Curragh in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and only just finished 3/4 length down to Rizeena who is 7/2 for this race, then 10/1 is too big. The Derby True Story - 1pt EW, 12/1 Coral I'm actually on Australia at a nice price for this but my selection here isn't a saver, I was very impressed with his performance at Newmarket the other day, he cruised into the race and then extended very well when asked. I think the form of that race could turn out to be very good, the second Obliterator looks decent and the duo finished well in front of the remainder.

  2. Re: Longshots Racing Blog Livid with the ride David Casey gave Upsie, didn't even touch her once until after the last and ran onto finish 3rd. She would never have caught Thousand Stars but I think would of ran on for the place, it was a joke of a ride and I think should be an enquiry into it. My Murphy never travelled and ultimately got pulled up, a little disappointed with his run expected better. Staked: 10 Returned: 8.45 P/L: -1.55

  3. Re: Sky Bet Championship > April 21st & 22nd I think Burnley are massive at 8/5 today at home to Wigan, I know they have been slipping up a little recently but their home form this season has been amazing and if they win today will gain promotion. Wigan are a decent side but they have played a lot of games recently and I can see a fired up Burnley edging them here.

  4. Re: National Hunt Racing > Monday April 21st 3.15 Fairyhouse Upsie - 1pt EW, 8/1 Sporting Bet This is a very open race to me, I don't think the recent form of Get Me Out Of Here and Thousand Stars stacks up well enough for them to be short prices. Upsie is a horse who has bags of ability but hasn't been in great form this season, she gets a lot of weight from the rest of the runners today and I think the better ground will improve her jumping. 5.00 Fairyhouse My Murphy - 1pt EW, 14/1 William Hill A lottery race but I'm going to take a chance on My Murphy who is only an 8yo but has had 10 chase runs. He ran a blinder behind the talented Foxrock two runs back before winning a big handicap at Navan last time. I definitely think there is more to come with this horse and his mark of 141 looks fair, the extra distance should bring improvement as should the better ground, his sire is Presenting.

  7. Re: Longshots Racing Blog What an absolute headcase Ballycasey is, cruising in front Townend hadn't moved a muscle and two out he makes a horrible mistake and falls. A horse with so much ability it is so frustrating to watch, was jumping immaculately until then. Oh well a poor weekend, on we go though... Staked: 8 Returned: 8.45 P/L: +0.45

  8. Re: Longshots Racing Blog Our Mick ran a stinker, something must have been amiss. 4.40 Fairyhouse Ballycasey - 1pt win, 6/4 William Hill I don't normally do win only bets but this is a horse that I've followed all season and I thought he was the best horse in the RSA, he travelled the best along with Smad Place but didn't stay up the hill. He is my idea of the Ryanair winner next season and back down in trip in a weak race he must win here as long as the RSA hasn't left any marks.

  9. Re: Longshots Racing Blog 2.05 Haydock Our Mick - 1pt EW, 11/2 William Hill Ran a decent enough race at Aintree, his first race for 4 months and he has also been dropped 3lbs for it. I think 3 miles is his best trip and he only goes on decent ground, the galloping track should play to his strengths too. Looks well handicapped on his old form and dropped in class surely has to go well.

  10. Re: Longshots Racing Blog Not a bad day with a small profit. Smoothtalkinrascal came from last to first after missing the break to get up on the line, a tremendous run. I don't really like the all weather, I find it very unpredictable and my selections ran no races at all today, probably shouldn't have got involved. Tarooq found himself too far back to get involved and Anaconda looked like he had a chance turning in but got done for toe in the last furlong. P/L: +2.45

  11. Just doing this for a bit of interest to see how I get on, all Football bets. Bournemouth 3/4 Bristol City 6/5 Double 2.85/1, William Hill Bournemouth have been in incredible form as of late, winning five on the bounce until last weeks draw away at Yeovil. Today they face Sheffield Wednesday at home who have a torrid away record and had lost five in a row before last weeks 3-3 draw against the sinking Nottingham Forest. I don't particularly rate Bristol City too highly but they have really picked it up since the turn of the year and haven't lost in five now at home. They will be facing Notts County today who have a very poor away record this season, losing 16 out of 21.

  12. Re: Longshots Racing Blog 2.40 Mussellburgh Smoothtalkinrascal - 1pt EW, 6/1 Ladbrokes Will have the benefit of race fitness over some of the others here and also has his optimum conditions, quick ground and 5f on a speedy track. Had genuine excuses in his last two runs of last season which followed his second to Duke of Firenze in the Epsom Dash. 4.05 Lingfield Tarooq - 1pt EW, 6/1 William Hill Not the most original of selections but I just don't see this horse out the frame here at the very least. He is 3-3 over C&D and returned with a win here in February after a three month break. He hasn't been granted the best of draws but is a hold up horse and I expect him to arrive late with a surging run. 4.40 Lingfield Anaconda - 1pt EW, 12/1 Ladbrokes I don't really understand why this horse is such big odds, he goes well at the course, has a decent draw to lead from the front and having been a non stayer the last twice without being disgraced he is back over his ideal trip.

  13. Re: Longshots Racing Blog No winners to start with but a slightly profitable first day. Heaven's Guest wasn't good enough and Seagull Star shaped like he needed further but ran decent enough for a place. I thought Angles Hill ran a cracker and at one point looked the winner before fading up the hill and hanging on for 4th. Overall: +0.075

  14. Re: Longshots Racing Blog 4.25 Cheltenham Angles Hill - 1pt EW, 14/1 Coral Seems to like it around here after two good performances at the start of the season, his first when losing just 3/4 length to Thomas Crapper before stepping up in distance and finishing sixth in a race won by Sunnyhillboy. He has been running on bad ground since which hasn't suited and now down 2lbs can go well back on decent ground.

  15. 2.55 Newmarket Seagull Star - 1pt EW, 5/1 William Hill Must take on the Aidan O'Brien favourite Johann Strauss in this, he has the best form in the race behind Kingston Hill in the Racing Post Trophy but I don't think he will be seen at his best on the quicker ground here. Seagull Star made his racecourse debut in October where he won a race on this course over a mile, Johann Strauss was 4th that day. He should progress again up in trip and looks very interesting, he is a nice each way price and I don't see him out the frame. 3.30 Newmarket Heaven's Guest - 1pt EW, 12/1 William Hill Aljamaheer definitely sets the standard on form but is another short priced favourite I will be taking on. He has needed the run on his return in the last two seasons and I doubt he will be seen at his best over 6f either. Hamza is probably one to keep on side after a good run on his return at Meydan but I'm going to take a chance on Heaven's Guest who needed the run at Doncaster on his return and beat subsequent group 2 winner Moviesta over C&D last season.

  16. Re: BBOTD > Thursday April 17th 2.55 Newmarket Seagull Star - 1pt EW, 5/1 William Hill Think the O'Brien favourite should be taken on here, he is the form pick after his 2nd to Kingston Hill in the Racing Post Trophy but I'm not sure he will handle the ground too well. My selection is unexposed having just the one run where he actually won a race at Newmarket in which Johann Strauss finished 4th. Providing he is race fit I think he will go very well here and can't have him out the frame.
