Re: ***** US Masters Competition - £150 in CASH Prizes ***** Bubba Watson 10/1 Jordan Spieth 10/1 Jimmy Walker 22/1 Hideki Matsuyama 66/1 Webb Simpson 100/1 My 3 picks at under 50/1 are all down to form. Jordan Spieth is on fire with 6 top 10 finishes out of 8 in 2015. Bubba Watson seems an obvious pick, Masters winner in 2 of the last 3 years and is in good touch coming into the competition. Jimmy Walker has found consistency, can't see him missing the cut and with 2 wins in 2015 he has the ability to win the thing. Matsuyama has bags of talent, he's a real danger if he can hold his nerve. Only failed to make the cut once in 7 tournaments this year, and had 3 top-4 finishes. Webb Simpson is flying under the radar, I'll be having a few quid on him. Former US Open winner despite still being in his 20's, 2 top-10 finishes this year, won a PGA tournament last season - 100/1 is massive odds, I give him a better chance than the majority above him at shorter odds.

Re: Last 16 - Argentina v Switzerland > Tuesday July 1st Man this is a difficult one to call. I keep telling myself that Argentina have looked disorganised and pretty poor all tournament, and we are due an upset in this round. But as much I'd like to go for an outside bet here, I just can't back a team that conceded 5 to France. If Argentina click, which I think they stand a better chance of doing with Lavezzi in, it could be a wide margin again. If Switzerland score first then game on because they have the pace to hurt Argentina on the break. The only thing I'm confident of here is that absolutely everything Argentina do will go through Messi (stating the obvious, I know). I'm confident that he'll have at least a few good chances, especially if Switzerland end up chasing the game. Scored in every game so far and I can't see that run ending here. Messi to score anytime @ 4/5 with BetVictor

Re: Group G - USA v Germany > Thursday June 26th I agree that the draw it too good to ignore at that price. Neither team is going to go out playing for the draw but physiologically if it's all level at 60+ minutes, I can't see either team taking any chances whatsoever with committing players forward. If either team are getting beat but still in it late on; we've already seen both teams scoring important late goals. If both teams would accept a draw right now, it'd be stupid to rule it out.

Re: Group H - South Korea v Belgium > Thursday June 26th
I think it's a little more than that, Belgium haven't looked good in either of their performances so far. On paper, with all of their talent, they should have easily brushed aside Algeria and Russia but they just didn't look convincing at all and they limped over the line with late goals in both games. They aren't gelling as a team and tactically they look lost, 6 points flatters them. As bad a Korea are, I don't think this is a straightforward one. All 3 Belgium goals have come on 70+ minutes so I do think it'll be a decent one to wait for in-play value. This game is clear value for Belgium, which is gifted only because of the assumption of "less motivation" for the Belgians. -
Re: Group G - Portugal v Ghana > Thursday June 26th In terms of the individuals involved; Muntari is a big miss but he was suspended for the game anyway so this doesn't change anything. KPB being out is a positive for Ghana if anything, he's had a poor world cup. He played the first 50 minutes against US before being dragged off and come on for the final 30 against Germany, he has a 70% pass accuracy and is yet to complete a tackle.

Re: COSTA RICA OUTRIGHT...TRADING HELP PLEASE If it were me, I'd stick twenty on Ivory Coast to go through which will probably be just under evens. Costa Rica go out then you'll win less than the £40 but at least your still up. If Costa Rica go through then their odds will drop and you'll be able to cash out more. Rinse & repeat in the quarters with larger stakes on their opponent.

Re: Group C: Greece vs Ivory Coast > Tues 24th June With everything going on surrounding Yaya Toure today, I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench or given time away to clear his head. Re: Group B: Netherlands vs Chile > Mon 23rd June I really do think this Dutch team will struggle without RVP, who not only has scored goals but he's led the line so well in this tournament. They were poor against Australia and were fortunate to come away with the win. That Lens/Kuyt partnership looks pretty average on paper and it will mean Chile can afford to give more attention to Robben, who's pace will be less of a threat to an athletic side. But it was the Dutch defence that was so poor in the last game, Australia could have 5. Chile are going to be too strong, I have a feeling that it'll be very one sided. 1pt Chile win to 0 @ 21/5 Coral 5pt Chile win @ 17/10 Betfair

Re: World Cup 2014 > Outright Betting African Teams to Reach Last 16 - Four @ 17/1 - Betfair Think this is worthy of a small bet. Currently 3 African teams sit in second place, 1 in third and 1 already out. Ivory Coast's final game is against bottom of the table team Greece who look terrible. A draw could be enough to secure their passage if Japan don't beat Columbia, which I can't see happening. Nigeria are 3 points clear of third place with a final game against Argentina, who may be resting players. A loss will still put them through providing Bosnia don't get beat by Iran. Ghana is going to be the tricky one. They were brilliant against Germany and I fully expect them to beat Portugal by at least a few. They are relying on USA vs Germany not ending in a draw though. I don't think they'll deliberately go out to draw the game as there would be a huge backlash, especially with Klinsmann being the ex-Germany manager. Algeria just need a draw against a rubbish Russian side providing Korea don't beat Belgium by 3 goals. It's just that Ghana group which scares me but at them odds I think it's worth the punt. By the time that match takes place we'll already know Ivory Coast and Nigeria's fate so I'll cover myself with a bet of the Germany USA draw if the bet is still live.

Re: Group A: Cameroon vs Brazil > Mon 23rd June
A draw between Mexico and Croatia means a Brazil loss will put them out. It'd be the biggest upset in the history of the tournament but I agree with MPLouis that you can't rest players until the job is done. There is no way on earth that Neymar will be on the bench tonight, everything goes through him and without him I think they'd be a pretty average team going forwards. No doubt he'll be brought off once the match is won. Same goes for Thiago Silva, he's the leader and they'll need him out there.Holding first or second spot in the group is the same. Both Chile and Netherlands are tough opposition. -
Re: Germany v Ghana > Saturday June 21st
:cow This second half has been brilliant, full credit to both teams, they're going for it.Few points as to why I don't think this is a forgone conclusion;- It's in Fortaleza, temperatures could reach 30 degrees. We saw Italy struggle in the heat yesterday against a team more acclimatised to the conditions.
- Ghana were a little unlucky against USA, they were the better team for a lot of that match. That form doesn't look as bad since Costa Rica beat Uruguay and Italy, and Mexico drew with Brazil. CONCACAF is much stronger than anyone anticipated.
- The 2 other games at Estadio Castelao produced upsets with Brazil drawing to Mexico and Uruguay getting beat to Costa Rica.
- I'm not reading too much into Germanys game against Portugal. I predicted a comfortable Germany win there but to me there are still problems with that team and I do think they'll struggle to unlock defences in certain games. Teams will now set up to deal with the false number 9 better and having 11 men on the pitch will help.
I can see a slow start to the game with both teams looking to conserve energy. Ghana will be happy to keep it tight for as long as possible then maybe go for the win later on. I quite like the half time draw @ 9/5 with sportingbet

Re: Group D - Italy v Costa Rica - Friday June 20th Do you play for Italy abyss? They were doing it that often that it looked deliberate lol

Re: Group D - Italy v Costa Rica - Friday June 20th
In their last 5 games combined Italy players have only received 2 bookings. Only 1 game in their last 12 have Italy reached the 1.5.I like to find a bet which returns me evens on my stake and I think I found a beauty Italt team bookings over1.5 6/5 @Bet365 -
Re: Group E - Honduras v Ecuador > Friday June 20th
Just throwing this out there; 6 out of Ecuador's last 8 have resulted in 3+ goals and one of those matches included a 2-2 vs Honduras. Plus Honduras had 4 put past them by Israel earlier this month so I have little faith in their defence. Over the last few days we've been seeing the South American teams looking stronger and stronger with Chile, Uruguay and Columbia all notching wins and impressive performances against strong sides. Lets not forget that this Ecuador side qualified ahead of Uruguay and only 3 points behind Chile, they are no minnows. They really need a win to give themselves a chance of getting out of the group and I expect an attacking performance. I think they are good value for the win @ 7/10 with CoralUnder 2.5 goals Evens @ Bet365 - I would have thought unders would be the favourite here but it's the other way round. Honduras were holding France at bay for 45 minutes up until the sending off but offered very little up front and have scored just 2 goals in their 7 world Cup games in their history. Ecuador are an average side but nothing special and whilst i think they will win this game i think it will probably be a tight 0-1. If Honduras fail to score which they have done in their last 5 World Cup games then Ecuador would have to score 3 for this game to go overs and i don't see that happening considering Honduras held France for the first 45 minutes. Games between 2 relatively weak teams normally results in not many goals as shown by the Mexico vs Cameroon and particularly the Iran vs Nigeria game. -
Re: Need advice Fair enough, I do see what you mean. Only ever thought about it from my point of view, if the bookie takes my money and accepts the bet I'd feel cheated and be livid if he didn't honour it. Another score for self-service terminals in store where this can't happen ay.
-
Re: Need advice
Maybe I'm just naive but I've always thought it was the complete opposite. If different bookies have different rules than the emphasis is on them to say what is and isn't allowed. A bookie should never accept a bet they aren't willing to pay out on.General rule of thumb its up to the punter to know the rules (if they dont they shouldnt be placing the relevant bet) -
Re: Group C - Colombia v Ivory Coast > Thursday June 19th Based on the opening round matches I do fancy Columbia quite strongly here. Ivory Coast are a team that always look better on paper but have never gelled as a unit. Going into the tournament they had won 2 in 7, mostly against modest competition. I wasn't overly impressed with the performance again Japan, who started the game well and then lost all intensity. Both goals would have been dealt with by a half decent defence. Columbia are flying under the radar a little even though they were a lot of peoples dark horses before the Falco injury. They gave Greece their biggest loss since 2006, without looking like they were out of 3rd gear. Cuadrado & James Rodriguez are going to cause all sorts of problems I feel, they are both in very fine form. Columbia Win 2.1 @ Betfair

Re: Group D - Uruguay v England > Thursday June 19th I really like that England corner handicap bet. Especially with Uruguay having 2 defenders out and one of the guys coming in has played 1 game all season at club level (Fucile, the right back who will be targeted). That alone could result in a few corners through mix-ups, lack of playing together and sharpness.
-
Re: Group D - Uruguay v England > Thursday June 19th England to score first - 4/5 @ Betway I think England will come out of the traps, pressing high and looking for the early goal in a very Liverpool type way over the past season. They tried it against Italy who were too good on the ball and too good defensively for it to work. Roy has said the same things ahead of this game as the last; England will be set up to attack. Even though both teams lost their first games, there is no doubt that physiologically it was more damaging to Uruguay who I think will be looking to play their way into the game and frustrate England.

Re: Group B - Australia v Netherlands > Wednesday June 18th I'm exercising some caution with this one. I really do think Holland are being over-hyped and I am firmly in the camp that Spain were terrible defensively last week rather than the Dutch team being an outstanding attacking side. It wasn't even just the individual errors, which there were plenty of, it was the fact that Spain were lethargic and disorganised. I see no value in the market because I honestly don't think Holland will be a difficult side to shut-out if a team puts men behind the ball and counters at their average defence with speed. That said this Australia team probably doesn't have the individuals to do a defensive job on them. For me, the best result would be a big Dutch win so that the hype train rolls on and we can get good odds in the knockout round (I'd say vs Chile but if Holland have nothing to play for it ruins that). Will have a small bet on Sneijder first goal - 7/1 @betfair He's had the second best season of his career for goals and he'll want to get in on the act after the other night. I see Australia having numbers behind the ball, and extra attention to Robben/RVP, so it may take a midfielder to open them up.

Re: Group G - Germany v Portugal > Monday June 16th Can't look past Germany for this one. They have a good habit of starting world cups well and laying down a message. In the last 3 world cup opening matches they've scored 8, 4 & 4. This is a team that has reached the semi's in the last 3 world cups and 2 European championships, they always turn up. They also beat Portugal in their opening match of the 2012 Europeans. Portugal are in decent form but mostly against questionable oppositions. Their entire hopes rely on Ronaldo, if he doesn't score I don't see where the goals are coming from. Almeida & Postiga aren't good enough, Carvalho & Moutinho in midfield are class but don't score, Meireles & Nani are incredibly inconsistent. Compared to this German side who can get goals from anywhere and will dominate possession, I think they'll be looking to send a message here. Germany -1 @ 3.70 Betfair
