On this match, they will have to play without one of the most agile players in this two bad seasons, Rooney. This is a huge blow for the team, no matter that he will be replaced by Falcao. Chelsea is playing the best football in the league. Fabregas and Costa connected well with the rest of the team and now Mourinho have strong attack in front of great midfield and defense. From what we saw so far from them, they are righteously labeled as no. one favorite for the title. I expect tough match, but we are witnesses on Mourinho's great record against top 5 teams and now with quality and form on his side I expect Chelsea to win, or at worst case, to maintain the record of not suffering loss from Man Utd from last 6 to last 7 matches.

City and 3 of those were from penalties. Newcastle is playing one of the worst footballs in the league. Bad defense, slow transition, bad attack…they have quality players, but with the team atmosphere and they way of management by Pardew they will have very difficult season. Tottneham will control the game, that is for sure and I do not think that Newcastle can be a danger in away match at the moment as they were scoreless in 3 of their 4 away matches so far and addition to that, the first two attackers, Cisse and Riviere. Tottenham enters this match after confident win in Europa League, that boosted their confidence after the loss from Man City in the previous round in the league. I expected them to beat Newcastle

Galatasaray with huge squad problems tonight, Jawai, Aldemir and Mensah-Bonsu will not play, so Galatasaray will have to play with only two players in the paint, Erceg and Macvan. Carlos Arroyo is questionalbe as he has flu. I beleive that Real will not have trouble to beat Galatasaray with 20+ difference.

Since there were no disqualifications in the match report, Lazarov has right to play in the match against Russia. Russia does not have very strong team at the moment. They have good players, but the change of generations is more than evident in this team...so far on this championship they are struggling and barely beat poor Algeria today. What to say about Macedonia team...every who follows handball knows about Lazarov, what danger he can produce, he wasn't best goalscorer in Chamipons League on several occasions for nothing. He is the best goalscorer on this tournament so far no matter that he was disqualified for almost whole half time. Macedonian play depends on him very much. Macedonia played great in the first 40 minutes against Germany, and maybe someone who did not watched the game will say that I am crazy, but if Lazarov wasn't sent off and if referees were neutral, than Macedonia would made another huge surprise. Still Macedonian team is playing very good so far and they have historical chance to advance into the next round if they beat, not so strong Russian team. Goalkeeper Angelov is playing in his best for of his life and fighting spirit is all over the players and we add the home advantage...maybe someone will ask how Macedonia can have home advantage when the matches are playing in Croatia...I'll answer him. Croatia is very close to Macedonia and because Macedonia is small country and rarely is participating is such big events in sports, there are huge number of fans there who are not stoping to cheer for their team for whole 60 minutes. Now for this decisive match against Russia, from Macedonia went additional hundrets of fans this is great generation of Macedonian players, players with fighting spirit, with huge heart, players with great leader in the name of Kiril Lazarov, team with great goalkeeper, with great team spirit and best dressing room that any Macedonian team had for a long time, maybe best atmosphere ever....I will repeat once again, maybe I will be boring to read, not maybe, but definitlely I will be...Macedonia played on very high level against Poland and against Germany untill deisqualification of Kiril Lazarov and for anyone who have seen this matches the win over Poland and leading untill half time against Germany will not be a upset. They are one of the weakest teams in Europe and in my opinion they are far away from taking good results against weakest teams than Turkey. Turkey is in group with Spain, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina and they have aspirations for one of the first two places in the group. For that reason they must take points in places where their opponents will take and this is must win situation for them. Estonia has very poor team, slow and disorganized defense, weak and slow midfield with no imagination and the attack…I have never seen their attack in their matches, probably because they did not attacked at all. I know that Turkey’s defense is not on very high level, but their fighting spirit and attacking power is their main advantage in this match and I believe that they will beat their opponent with more than one goal difference. Now they will face Iceland, team that is far away from average teams in Europe. They have only one player that is worth mentioning, Gudjonsen, all others are weak players. I watched them against Holland, they were playing very bad and I was expecting at least to give the Holland team a decent fight. My impression about Iceland is that they are slow and not agile at all. Technique is not their strongest side and their physical approach of the games weren’t present. Macedonia has very strong defenders that are more than ready to match Iceland style of play, with great Pandev upfront and with great team atmosphere and big optimism, I expect Macedonia to get the three points from Iceland, no matter that they will play without suspended Naumovski, one of the best Macedonian strikers. Macedonia suffered a loss from Latvia in the first round of these qualifications. In the match, Macedonia was cleary better opponent, but Latvia’s center had big game with 30 points and 24 rebounds and despite so powerful performance, Macedonia missed two free throws on tied score on 1 second until the end of regular time, and one free throw on 6 seconds to end in the overtime and conceded a last second three pointer which was not three pointer and lost the match with one point difference. Macedonia is without a doubt the best team in this group. At home they trashed Portugal with 37 points difference and beat Estonia away comfortable with 12 points. If they win this match, the road to Poland 2009 will be widely open for them. When they are playing at home, there is huge crowd support and rarely they are winning with small difference. They are not playing as confident as they did in previous seasons. Their attack is not so lethal and the defense is leaking. After 8:1 win against Bielefeld, everyone expected another inspirational performance from the team and no one questioned taking the three points from poor visitor Olympiakos, but Werder conceded an equalizer and then opened the game and conceded two more. Now, if they fail to win, next stage of Champions League will remain only a dream. Lazio is struggling in domestic championship despite the away win against Livorno in previous round. Still they had some great performances, like that against Real Madrid three weeks ago when they completely outplayed the big opponent. But, Lazio is playing much worse on their away matches and it is not great when the opponent have the possession (we saw what happened when Milan got the possession against them) and tonight Werder will have the possession, without a doubt and they will attack hard, in order to take desperately needed three points. Werder still has many absences, Hunt, Baumann and Carlos Alberto are out and Owomoyela and Wome are doubtful. Lazio will have to play without Siviglia, Mauri and Ledesma. Werder desperately needs win here and Lazio is not good away team and with leaky defense that they have matched with this German attacking machinery leaded by Diego, I think that failure against Olympiakos is very unlikely to happen once again. Rosenborg is having big internal problems too. Valencia is having pretty good team for this season composed of many talented players. They started this Champions League campaign very well after undeserved win against Schalke, but then they lost undeservedly, after good performance by trouble-hit Chelsea. Valencia this season managed to win all matches that they played away, both in La Liga and Champions League. Rosenborg will be without they key player Iversen, and Valencia cannot count on Vicente and Edu. I must say that they did not played that bad. They were playing their game but the luck wasn’t on their side. They finally beat poor Levante in the last round which will give a bit higher self-confidence for this match. They also beat Slavia Prague in Champions League and they need to beat Steaua, in order to keep their favorite position for the second place. Sevilla has big injury troubles: Kone and Duda are injured and Dani Alves and Boulahrouz are in doubt for this match.

Steaua lost previous two matches in the group and they are searching for the first point here in Sevilla. They are very serious of trying to make Sevilla’s day harder. They postponed the match in the domestic championship in order to be rested for this big match for them. But they are having some injury troubles which will make their try to take at least a point even harder. The long-term defensive absences Radoi and Ghionea and midfielder Plesan are still out.

Sevilla beat Steaua twice last season in UEFA Cup and despite the squad troubles that they have, I believe in their win. As Sevilla’s coach Ramos said, they will search for early goal or two, like in the match against Slavia Prague and then to bring steady the match to its end. I believe in this home/home bet more because Sevilla has very tough schedule in their domestic competition playing against Valencia next weekend and then with Atletico and Real Madrid. I believe that coach Ramos want to decide the match as earlier as possible in order to have his players easier game and to keep their strengths for the upcoming matches. I know that Steaua will try to defend as not let an early goal to the hosts, but with their defensive absences and pretty strong offensive line of Sevilla, I can see this outcome. The champions from Germany and France are meeting in Stuttgart with goals to keep their hopes for advancing into the next stage, or taking the third place at least, a live. They had very slow starts of the season, both in domestic championship and in Champions League.

Lyon after the two starting losses in domestic championship, improved their game a lot and won 8 of their last 9 matches and they are unbeaten in 9 matches in a row, if we exclude the two defeats in Champions League from Barcelona and Rangers. Lyon is still without Coupet and Cris, but the forward Fred is fit again

Stuttgart became a champion last season in Germany and instead strengthening the squad they lost several players and brought some average players. I was pretty much convinced that this team cannot fight on two fronts and they proved me that I am right. Stuttgart is currently 14th in German Bundesliga, winning only at home against teams with poor quality like Cottbus, Duisburg and Bochum. In addition to their poor form, they have some important absences (Hitzlsperger, da Silva, Magnin and Boka) which will make this match even harder to them.

Both teams desperately needs points from this match, especially the host team, because if they lose this match, they will have only theory left if they want to go into the next round of Champions League. Stuttgart will try to get three points here and their strongest weapon is the attack line composed with Gomes and Cacao and they know that draw is not making any good to them and even more the weak, leaking defense will force them to decide the match with offense. Lyon also is having great attack, leaded by inform Benzema and they are attacking team also, so goals should not be a problem tonight. I rate Lyon a better team, team with better individuals, with better form and with absences that Stuttgart has, I rate them as favorites for this match.

Macedonia is not playing well at all lately and at home is without a win for more than three years. Andorra owes big time, to this generation of Macedonian football players. Macedonian national football team sufferer shameful defeat against Andorra away in previous qualifications and then at home they drew 0:0. Macedonia paid some of that debt with 0:3 victory away earlier in these qualifications, but today they are in must win situation. Some of you will ask question, why is in must win situation because the three points will not get them higher on the table.

Macedonia yesterday suffered the biggest lost in their modern history, the biggest pop-star, the most popular man in the country, the most loved person in Macedonia, one of the biggest humanist in the country and big patriot Tose Proeski died in car accident at age of 26. Tomorrow is day of sadness in whole country and 90% of Macedonians are still in tears. Football players said that they will dedicate this match to him and for this match the entrance will be free. I expect many people in the stadium cheering for Macedonian players to give well farewell to the big man.

Macedonia will be without Stojkov and Nikolovski, but both can be replaced. I think that Macedonia will trash tomorrow Andorra. I expect score line around 5:0

Armenia made few surprises in their last two matches, winning against Poland and drawing with Portugal, both of these matches were played at their home Republican stadium. Still I rate this team very low and they won those matches mostly because their opponents underestimated them. Armenia has only the pride to play for and they will play without pressure and that is big plus for them. At home Armenia showed like hard nut to crack in these qualifications and with defending for whole match, they will, for sure, make troubles to the Serbian team.

Serbia is currently on 4th position but they have played one match less than first placed teams Finalnd and Poland and one point less than big favorite Portugal, which means that this match is crucial to them. Their coach said that he will start carefully with only one striker upfront, Zigic or Lazovic, with Stankovic behind that striker. They will try to score a goal with that formation and if they fail to do so, in the second half we will se another attacker in the line-up.

Manucharyan injured, Arzumanyan doubtful for Armenia, both are important team players, and Serbia will be without Vidic their best defender.

I believe that it won’t be easy match for Serbia at all, they had already some slip-ups so far against weaker teams and the pressure will be on their side. I think that Serbia has plenty of talented players who can decide the match with individual effort. The motivation should be their biggest advantage and I am on them today.

Croatia – Israel

Croatia is playing one of the best football’s in these qualifications, if not the best. They are well organized in the defense, they have great midfield with good destructors and many creative players and their attack is pretty good. Now playing in Zagreb, where they have not felt the feel of defeat for more than 15 years in one qualification match, both for European or World championships and with win here they can qualify for Euro 2008.

Israel had good qualifications too, made few surprises, but they are nothing special, in my opinion. Forth place in this group is the maximum that they can get. They got draws with Russia away and England at home, but then those teams weren’t playing at their best.

Croatia has Niko Kovac, Petric and Balaban injured, but I think that they will not miss much, or maybe only Niko Kovac. For the other two, Petric is a started, but he can be easily replaced by Eduardo, Olic or even Rakitic, so these absences are not a big blow to the team. Israel will have troubles, especially in the defense, goalkeeper Awat and defenders Benado and Ziv will not play, so as Colautti, Saban, Katan, Badir and Tal.

I think that Croatia is much stronger than their opponent, even if Israel is playing with full squad. Croatia managed to beat them in Israel with 3:4 and now in front of sold out stadium with fanatic fans who are expecting their team to win to secure the place in European championship, against team who needs to attack in order to keep its chances for qualification, home win is very likely outcome.

They played against Dinamo Bucharest in last qualification round for CL and they qualified with much luck, mostly because they were given penalties in both legs. Lazio played only one good match so far, the match against Cagliari one week ago and that is their only win so far this season. Bad temping of the form and hard battle on two fields with limited squad is the main reason why Lazio is not showing the performances that they showed last season. Real Madrid played pretty bad match against Getafe in previous round of their domestic competition, despite the win of 0:1. Their midfield lost the battle with the opponents completely and Schuster is angry on his midfielders because they are not covering well in their defensive tasks. I believe that his anger will teach his players to do what he wants from them. Real played great so far this season with small exceptions of last two visiting matches against Valladolid and Getafe. Lazio will probably be without their best player Rocchi, who is under big question mark for this match. Pepe, Metzelder and Robinho are out for Real Madrid. Lazio is having average team and their strength is not even closer to the opponent’ strength. The motivation in the team will be huge and great support from the crowd is expected. But, I think that Schuster will lead his team in another three points and securing the next round with this win. Lazio’s GK, Ballota, will be biggest disadvantage for the home side and Real’s attacking power can profit from, not so well organized Lazio’s defense this season Pick: Real Madrid (0) --> Odds: 1.55 @ FonBet --> Stake: 7u

Milan obviously has big problems this season, especially in the attack line where Inzaghi and Gilardino are terrible, softly said. Luckily the midfield is working on their level and Kaka, Seedorf and Pirlo are playing as they should.

Celtic is not so strong like they were in previous seasons. They are nothing special at all this season. Yes, they are still dominating in their domestic championship, but they are playing against teams that they are much weaker than them. The team used to play as favorites against small Scottish teams who are playing all men behind ball and playing with long ball tactics. Now against them they will have much stronger opponent, although not in good form, but technique superior with great midfield that can control the match.

Last season, these teams meet each other in the last 16 stage, where both legs ended with 0:0 and Milan advancing into the next round after the extra time.

Celtic built CelticPark as hardly beatable fortress in the European matches and there are not many teams that can proudly say that they overplayed Celtic there. But, Milan desperately needs to raise their level of game and the crisis that they are in at the moment, must be excelled.

The main Celtic’s offensive weapon Vennegoor of Hesselink is injured and the key midfielder Nakamura is doubtful for this match, but I think that he will play because this match is of great importance for the team. Milan is without Maldini and Kaladze, but Oddo – Nesta – Bonera – Jankulovski are still good defensive line up, and Ronaldo is still injured. Dida is doubtful.

Celtic will try to lower the talent gap with hard working and a lot of running and they can be very unpleasant team to play against with great support from the crowd behind them. But I still think that Milan will rise back from this lethargy and with control of the game from their superior midfield, they can win this match.

Werder Bremen – Olympiakos

Werder, despite their huge injury list trashed Arminia with 8:1. After that performance I believe that every team is holding the fear when they will come to play against them on the same place that they put real goal festival. Tonight Werder will host Olympiakos, team who along side Lazio will be main contenders for the second place that will bring ticket for last 16 round. In the next two rounds Werder is hosting both Olympiakos and Lazio and these two matches are the most important if they want to advance. Werder must not allow losing points here because in that case they will have to take points from Athens which is really tough place to play.
