  1. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday October 2nd bigmick - I'm an Everton fan and I expect Martinez to pick as strong a side as possible. Martinez showed he's taking the Europa League seriously when he picked his best possible team against Wolfsburg and then made changes against Crystal Palace three days later. And I can't see why he'd take top players to Russia and then rest them. Having said that, I think FK Krasnodar are a very good bet and I backed them at 7/5 with Paddy Power a few hours ago. They're a good side and Everton are not playing well at the moment. We'll be without McCarthy tomorrow, which is a huge blow, and we're really struggling defensively. I expect us to pick the following team: Howard Hibbert/Browning Jagielka Stones Baines Besic Barry McGeady Naismith Osman Lukaku/Eto'o

  2. Re: Midweek Non-League 30th September/1st October I went to Burnham last night. They played OK - not as well as 5-1 suggests - and they might be worth keeping onside. They try to play football (which I'm not used to seeing at Burnham!) and they've got a young keeper on loan from Wycombe who made two top-class saves last night (one after 40 seconds at 0-0; the other at 5-0).

  3. Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Burnham v Bishop's Stortford I'll be at The Gore tomorrow, hoping that Burnham can beat a team 43 places above them in the pyramid - but I've already backed Bishop's Stortford to win. This was posted on the Burnham website yesterday: "The Blues will be without Jamie Jackson and Adam Dickens who are both serving one match suspensions. Tonight will be a busy night on the treatment table as Steve Jarrett and his team try to get several players who are struggling with injuries fit enough to play on Saturday." Now the stuff about injuries might be pre-match crap - though it's backed up in the local paper: http://www.sloughobserver.co.uk/sport/burnhamfc/articles/2011/10/13/54698-burnham-fc-struck-by-injury-crisis-ahead-of-fa-cup-clash/ But even without the injuries, losing Jackson (the first-choice keeper) and Dickens (a central midfielder and a regular this season) are major blows to what is a pretty ordinary Burnham team. Bishop's Stortford haven't got off to a great start to the season, but all things considered I think 8/11 on an away win with Blue Square and Ladbrokes is worth a small bet.

  4. Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Aug 15-17 I was at Maidenhead v Tonbridge Angels game on Saturday and as well as extending my incredible record with Maidenhead (they've taken just one point from the ten games that I've seen them play down the years!), I saw enough to make me want to have a couple of small bets today. I must say that it didn't feel like a 4-0 game, but Maidenhead looked really vulnerable and likely to concede whenever Tonbridge attacked. I've seen Jon Main play better but he still scored, and Tonbridge were impressive going forward. I didn't like the Tonbridge keeper much, especially when he was trying (and largely failing) to deal with crosses, but 5/4 on Tonbridge to beat Sutton United (who lost 5-0 at home on Saturday) looks decent. I might play safe and go for the DNB @ 4/6, but I'll decide later. I don't know if I am a curse on Maidenhead, but whevener I see them play they're crap. I'm less keen on Dorchester to beat Maidenhead at 6/5 (5/4 for those lucky enough to have a Bet365 account) than I am on Tonbridge, especially after Dorchester lost 4-0 on Saturday. Again, I'm considering the DNB option. Can anyone persuade me not to do doubles and trebles with Woking @ 2/5 against Hampton & Richmond as a banker?
