  1. Re: FC Barcelona v Paris Saint-Germain > Wednesday December 10th PSG +0.5 1st Half @1.84 PSG +1 FT @2.21 PSG Team Total over 0.5 @1.51 for parlay material PSG Team Total over 1.5 @3.70 pop-corn bet Barça way too much favored here. Last 3 European fixtures between both of them give us 2 Draw in 1/4 final in 2013 and 1 PSG win in group phase this season. Why Barça is is much juiced up? -Camp Nou factor -PSG not shining in Ligue 1 neither against Ajax or Apoel in group phase -a lot of public money on Barça each journey of Champions League PSG recent performances mean absolutely nothing here because the team level depends a lot on the opponent. They play with a lot of intensity in big games while they would rather do the minimum efforts against weak opposition. Barcelona, as always, will try to play a passing game in the opponent side, exposing themselves to counter attacks. PSG has proven in 3 occasions that they can anihilate Barcelona enough so that the catalan side can miss more passes than usual. PSG counter attacks are lethal. They have the fastest player in the world, yes believe me Lucas Moura is in a striking form. Matuidi in the midfield can "break lines", he's a great counter attacker too, from stealing the ball/tackling to bring number in the opponent side. With Thiago Motta, Thiago Silva, David Luiz or Maxwell PSG has a good defense with passing qualities, which should provide plenty of clean counter attacks to Cavani, Lucas, with Ibrahimovic playing as a pivot with his excellent passing too. With Barça the scenario is quite predictable, they will possess the ball and try to put the opponent defense off balance. But against good defense and intense pressure (for example, against Atletico Madrid) they tend to remain rather sterile (of course they will end creating danger more than once, not saying they won't score!) Both teams way of playing and the 3 last games between them should be plenty of reason to back PSG goals or handicap. BOL

  2. Re: Juventus v Atlético de Madrid > Tuesday December 9th

It is unlikely he will rest players' date=' finishing first and finishing second makes a massive difference in the CL - 8 of 8 group winners went through to the next round last year, 6 of 8 the year before. Qualifying is obviously the main priority but if you want to go further finishing top is vital. Simeone didn't sound like he was going in with anything other than the first XI in his interview.[/quote'] It's a big game for them, leading the group is not an "option", it's nearly an obligation. As always they will "let their skin on the field" (translate from french haha) Juventus will probably fear exposing to counter attacks, knowing that a loss could lead to another drama.
  3. Re: Juventus v Atlético de Madrid > Tuesday December 9th

It all depends on what Simeone is going to do tonight. Main difference between the two is that Atletico already qualified and Juve isn't. So what does that mean for Atletico? Are they going to rest players from the regular starting line-up? Is there any news on that already? There is a risk that they lose the first place position if Juve wins tonight. On the other hand' date=' a team will always approach a match differently if they know they're already qualified.[/quote'] You can trust Simeone to go for the win There is a big difference between ending 1st or 2nd in the group (though it shoud be said that if Juve wins 1-0 Atletico will remain leader) Last season, last game of the Atletico group they were sure to end 1st but sill beat FC Porto 2-0 at home when the Portuguese needed a point to advance. He will probably line up the best available players.
  4. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday December 11th Has someone seen PAOK play? I'm surprised by the high odds on them. They're leading the greek league. I'm french and I can tell that Guingamp on the road is quite a mess. Greek sides are notorious to take advantage from home factor, with warm noisy public etc. Guingamp has one of the lowest budget in french league, with few competitive players that have played on Week-End and midweek during two full weeks, it will be their 6th game in 19 days...

  5. Re: Juventus v Atlético de Madrid > Tuesday December 9th Grains of salt regarding Juventus performances: -lucky win against Olympiakos who is notoriously weaker on the road -scandalous win with the help of the referee against AS Roma -last minute goal in the Torino derby -draw against Fiorentina in EL last season -hardly beat Lyon in EL last season -draw against Benfica in EL Weak performances overall in Europe fixtures this year and past season. You really got to question the value of their domestic results and their ability to put Atletico defense off balance. Juventus has had troubles in the air and this is where Atletico shines. Every corner or free kick will be a major danger. Grains of salt regarding ATletico: -seems to have lost strength in defense (Courtois has gone), mostly on the road -Mandzukic is not Diego Costa in counter attacks

  6. Re: Arsenal v Swansea City > Tuesday March 25th That's a very unfair comment about Matic. He has great passing game and vista. The Serbian version of Thiago Motta. The line movement is interesting. A lot of over reaction on the injury list and the bad performance in Chelsea but Arsenal knows how to deal with both issues. This year they bounce back easier than in the past where you could feel a crisis was fast to happen, and they know how to deal with forced turnover.

  7. Re: FK Austria Wien v Atlético de Madrid > Tuesday October 22nd Atletico Madrid is having some difficulties to keep the pace of eraly season. I'm not saying that only for the loss against Espanyol. I watch about every game and there is a clear drop of pace. They are lacking some creativity against packed defense, their natural play is to be solid in defense and play fast counter attacks. The other major quality is on free kicks and corner kicks where they bring danger every time. I expect this game to be stuck in midfield with few goal situations. Atletico will drive this one but will probably have trouble to find the net. I think they are still too much for the Austrian and probably will win to nil. My money is on the Under 3. Buying the hook might mean I'm not that confident! Atletico Madrid win and under 3.5 is nice too, at about even money.
