  1. Re: UEFA Europa League > Tues 14 & Thurs 16 February

Stoke City vs Valencia This is an interesting tie as their has always been a debate about "Can Barcelona do it on a cold windy night up in Stoke" well Valencia are hardly Barcelona but they're probably the closest thing in this competition so it should be a good watch for the neutral with a clash of two very different styles. I think for this game you cannot take league form into account because you often see teams doing not so well in the league but going on great runs in the cup and i can see that happening with Stoke as i feel the players will be extra motivated for this tie as for many it will be their first European knockout tie and they will want to prove themselves at this stage. Valencia's squad has bags of top-level experience in it with some quality players but i doubt any of them will have experienced anything like the Brittania before. Stoke have scored in every home game in the Europa league (11 goals in 5 games) with 8 goals coming in the first half, now i feel that if Stoke and their fans are really up for it, and they can limit Valencias time on the ball and really get in their faces and rattle them like we've seen them do to Arsenal in the past, i can see them scoring an early goal int his game or at least grabbing a goal in the first half as i haven't been too impressed with Valencias defending from what i've seen from them this season and that's why i've taken on Stoke to score in both halves @ 10/3 , Goal in the first 10 minutes @10/3, Goal in the 11th-20th minute @7/2 and Stoke first team to score @11/10 all with SkyBet . Haven't stuck anything too big on the game but i felt these prices weren't bad for some small stake punts. I personally would like to see "football" win this game but i feel its worth it as Stoke have the tools to really rattle Valencia.
Was a good start from Stoke but as soon as they dropped the intensity and let players like Tino Costa have time on the ball to start bossing the game there was only gonna be one winner. Really impressed by Valencia today and i guess the debate is slightly answered now for some, lucky i didn't stick anything big on!

  3. Re: England > Midweek Championship > 14th February

Cardiff City vs Peterborough United The last time these two sides met in the Championship Peterborough edged it by one goal in one of their familiar high scoring games (4-3) . Coming into this game both sides will be looking to win the game i feel, Cardiff won't want to lose any more ground in the race for gaining an automatic promotion spot and Peterborough haven't won in 6 Championship games and they'll be looking to change that at the Cardiff City stadium. I think both clubs will be playing for a win here and that coupled with the fact that only 3 teams in the Championship have managed to stop Peterborough scoring on the road so far i'm going to go for BTTS @4/5 with SkyBet because i feel it is very generous so i will be placing a high stake on it!
The words skin and teeth come into mind but i think Peterborough deserved the goal in the end

  5. Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Stevenage vs MK Dons - Stevenage have lost once in their last 5 league games and once in their last 6 at home, they seem to have coped well with the loss of Graham Westley and the've rallied together to produce some good results on the road and they will be back in front of their home fans today and i expect them to have a committed performance as usual, both sides have relatively clean slates and i expect the game to end in a similar fashion to the reverse fixture that MK Dons won 1-0 but i can't decide on who will nick the odd goal although i have a feeling it will be Stevenage because they seen to do well against the big sides at home whereas MK Dons are the opposite and that's why i will be taking a under 1.5 goals in the game @5/2 with William Hill

  6. Re: African Nations Cup - 23/24 January Morocco vs Tunisia Not very much reasoning in this but both sides have lack of a genuine goal threat although they both have players that are capable of giving good supply to the front-men but i still don't believe their will be many goals in the game considering the fact that it's the first game of the tournament so both teams might not be in full swing yet but i still do fancy morocco to take the game so i'm backing a HTFT Draw/Moroco @5/1 with William Hill in this one :hope

  7. Re: Saturday 21st/Monday 23rd Jan Npower Football League Championship Southampton vs Leicester City I really like the look of Southampton at home with them having won 11/13 home games keeping 6 clean sheets in the process and only losing one game. They have the prize of moving ahead of West Ham at the top of the Championship and i can see the coming fast out of the traps him and grabbing an early goal. Leicester have been indifferent all season and haven't matched their pre-season expectations but they still have dangerous players in their squad that can hurt Southampton on their day such as Nugent & Beckford. So i will be taking 4 or more goals to be scored in the match @3/1 with William Hill :hope

  8. Re: Spain - La Liga - 21-23 January Villareal vs Sporting Gijon Considering that this is a basement battle with Gijon 3 points ahead of Villareal i feel that they will be content with a point, coupled with the absences of Rossi and Nilmar for Villareal i can't see many goals in this game so i will be looking into the under 2.5 market and placing a small stake there as i can see a low scoring game, maybe a 1-0 or 2-0 Villareal win or a 0-0.

  9. Re: England > Weekend > Barclays Premier League > 21-22 January

Arsenal vs Man Utd Over 2.5 Goals 10-12 Corners and 4-6 Cards @8/1 / William Hill Over 1.5 Goals in the first half @2/1 / William Hill Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspurs HTFT Draw/Man City @19/5 - William Hill Man City to score 2 first @1/1 - William Hill
Considering that i put my biggest stakes on the City game i've made a slight profit this weekend.:ok
  10. Re: England > Carling Cup (Second Leg) > 24/25 Jan I didn't catch the Liverpool game but i've heard that Kenny Dalglish brought out the hairdryer after the game at The Reebok so i expect the home side and fans to be really fired up for this tie against City and i can't see them losing this game to a City side who will have a very tough game against Spurs today coupled with the fact that they haven't won at Anfield for nearly a decade. Haven't decided what i'll put on yet because i'm waiting to see how it goes with City today.

  11. Re: England > Weekend > Barclays Premier League > 21-22 January Arsenal vs Man Utd I think that the 8-2 should be completely disregarded when it comes to judging the outcome of this game as that was an Arsenal team deep in crisis with no confidence or self drive. I feel this game will rest on the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen due to the fact that if he doesn't play then i can see Djourou & Miquel getting destroyed by United's wide play and as both are naturally centre-halves their positioning is highly suspect and Man Utd will do well on the counter. But with that being said i do feel that if Arsenal can dominate possesion and cut out the sloppy passes of late and if koscielny or song can do a job o Rooney depening on whether Welbeck starts or not then Arsenal can gain something from this game against an unconvincing United team. United can't afford to lose pace with City so i think they will start with Welbeck and Rooney which will effictively hand the midfield battle over to Arsenal. I expect a more open affair between these two than we're used to seeing at the emirates because Arsenal aren't as dangerous as they used to be that's why i'm putting small bets on: Over 2.5 Goals 10-12 Corners and 4-6 Cards @8/1 / William Hill Over 1.5 Goals in the first half @2/1 / William Hill Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspurs This game won't ultimately decide who will lift the trophy in may but it will be the chance for Spurs and others to gain ground on City or for City to stamp their authority in this title challenge. Man City are without two of their best players in Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany and their power and command on the field will be missed. Spurs have slipped up against Wolves and they'll see this as a chance for them to show that they won't be content with being also-rans in this race, they will take their full starting 11 i think to Eastlands and i fell they will continue to play how they play and have a real go at City which will ultimately be their downfall. I think the first goal will be crucial in this game and its a goal i think City will get and they will go on to win the game as Tottenham chase it ad that's why i've backed: HTFT Draw/Man City @19/5 - William Hill Man City to score 2 first @1/1 - William Hill :hope:hope:hope

  12. Re: England > Weekend > Barclays Premier League > 21-22 January

Wolves Vs Aston Villa Wolves haven't kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since November playing 9 games and conceding 17 in this time. Of those 9 games they had scored in 7 and 8 have been over 2.5. Meanwhile Villa have only kept 3 clean sheets in their 10 Premier League games on the road scoring in 6 of those games. The reverse of this fixture ended 0-0 which was probably a point Mick MCarthy was happy to take but given the fact that key players were rested in the midweek FA Cup game coupled with the fact that Wolves haven't won in their last 3 home league games then maybe this is a game that Wolves may take a more ambitious approach. I also believe that Alex Mcleish will see this game as a chance to win over some of his critics by making a statement at their mid-land rivals. Given the fact both teams have their top scorers fit & Villa's poor defending from set pieces i can sense a few goals in this game. Norwich vs Chelsea Norwich have scored 17 and conceded 15 in 10 home games in the league where they've kept no clean sheets and only failed to score twice. They face a Chelsea side who have a record of F16 A9 in 10 Premier League away games keeping 3 clean sheets on the way and only failing to score in 2. In this reverse fixture Norwich had a real go at Chelsea and were unlucky in the end not to grab something from the game and i expect them them to build on that here with their good form and i think they will have another strong performance against a unconvincing Chelsea side. Chelsea have signed Gary Cahill this week to try and sort out some of their defensive frailties and he is expected to go straight into the back four alongside his England team mate Terry but i believe it is tactics and not personnel which is the problem at Chelsea and i fancy their to be a fair few goals in this game. Fulham vs Newcastle Fulham's home record i 10 games in F16 A15 and they've kept 4 clean sheets and failed to score in 2. Newcastle away from home im 10 games are F14 A14 producing 3 clean sheets and they've only failed to score at Loftus Road. The reverse of this fixture was a entertaining game with Newcastle coming out on top through two Leon Best goals and i expect a entertaining open game at Craven Cottage. Newcastle are having problems in central midfield with Tiote at the AcN and Cabaye & Guthrie doubtful for this game so they may be weak in midfield which could allow a eperienced Danny Murphy to really take control of this game and with the supply he can give to Dempsey, Zamora and Ruiz in advanced areas i can see a few goals here if Fulham are up for it. I've done a treble Over 2.5 with these 3 games with William Hill Wolves @ 11/10 Over 2.5 Goals Chelsea @13/20 Over 2.5 Goals Fulham @23/20 Over 2.5 Goals :hope:hope:hope Edit: That's over 2.5 in the overall games sorry
Pretty close but Chelsea :cry not even one goal!

Just found out Cahill has travelled with Chelsea but he isn't in the 18 man squad. Probably a good thing for my bet.:cheers
