  1. Re: UEFA Euro 2016 Qualifiers > Saturday October 11th

Albania vs Denmark – Both teams to score (No) @ 1.81 Marathonbet Albania stunned Europe with the away win against Portugal, a result that caused the resigning of Paulo Bento for Portuguese team. Albania had excellent defensive tactics, passion and focus on their goal, which was not to concede a goal, making sure that at least they won’t lose. They found a goal on a counter attack and they managed to hold to their advantage until the end, securing one of the most important victories of their history. Obviously, Albania tonight will have enthusiasm for a second big win against another big team like Denmark. Denmark on the other side found difficulties against Armenia, but managed to win away with 2-1. They didn’t play so good, tonight they are favorites, but I don’t think that they are trustworthy against a tough Albanian team. I expect a closed game, I believe that one of two teams will not score.
I'm on the opposite side to you here, I'm afraid. Albania have only failed to net once in competitive games in Tirana since 2009 (only Luxembourg, Belarus and Slovenia failed to score there). BTTS would have won in 7/10 of Denmark's most recent qualifiers. Well worth a play at odds-against.
  2. Re: Euro 2016 Qualifying > Tuesday September 9th Bosnia vs Cyprus - Bosnia to win to nil @ 4/6 Only a brief post as I'm on my phone, but I like the look of Bosnia to secure 3 points whilst keeping a clean sheet against Cyprus tonight. The home side cruised to a 3-0 win against Liechtenstein last week while Cyprus failed to score away in Croatia (a bet I also took) and I feel with the attacking threat of Dzeko and Ibisevic they can get a couple tonight as well. Cyprus have now failed to score since February 2013 and haven't hit the back of the net away from home in their last 5! Despite the Bosnians missing a couple of experienced heads at the back, Begovic is still a safe pair of hands.

  3. Re: Sky Bet Championship > Saturday August 16th To all those looking at backing Cardiff, I was at the Chesterfield v Huddersfield match on Tuesday and for 65-70 minutes Huddersfield were woeful. Chesterfield dominated possession in the first half and deservedly lead 2-0. Nakhi Wells' header seemed to bring Huddersfield to life but they were gifted 2 goals and barely deserved to take the game to ET. There wasn't many changes so that extra 30 minutes may have tired them out ahead of today's game. Cardiff look good on the -1AH. This is the Championship, though...

  4. Re: Group E - France v Honduras > Sunday June 15th

So are the Costa Ricans, lol. What I meant is these Central/South American sides are used to the humidity. Used to live in Central America for 2 years so I know what the climate is like there. Try being smart somewhere else. Later
Haha! Don't get your knickers in a twist, I wasn't trying to be smart I was just pointing out an inaccuracy. Porto Alegre is much further south in Brazil and therefore a lot cooler than Central America. It looks like the Hondurans coped really well with the humidity...by kicking lumps out of the French! Anyway, good work everyone on the handicap and to nil bets.
  5. Re: Group E - France v Honduras > Sunday June 15th

I personally don't like all these bets on the French only because the odds are too small, so no value for me. Especially playing against a South American side such as Honduras. Anyone familiar with who is taking the penalties for the French team?
Don't like to be pedantic, but Honduras is in Central America. Almost as bad as Clarke Carlisle's 'Jackson Martinez' gaffe, that.
  6. Re: Group C - Colombia v Greece > Saturday June 14th Two bets for me this evening: Colombia to win to nil @ 8/5 Draw/Colombia (half-time/full-time) @ 7/2 Unlike the other games we've seen so far in this tournament, I can see this being quite a tight affair thanks to Greece's solid defence (depending on whether Sokratis is fit). Colombia should have enough to break them down eventually but they have a tendency to break teams down slowly using the playmakers in the middle of the park. They only leaked 13 goals in 16 qualifiers which was the best defence in the CONMEBOL, and with Greece not offering a great deal up front I think they could manage another clean sheet. In terms of the second bet, they scored 19 of their 27 goals after HT during qualifying and were level in 10/16 games. Greece are very much an 'unders' team and have lost both their previous WC opening games.

  7. Re: Sky Bet League 1 > March 1st & 2nd Wolves v Port Vale Wolves to score over 2.5 goals @ 7/4 in various places. Nothing seems like stopping the Wolves juggernaut at the moment after they secured a 6th win in a row against Brentford last weekend. Port Vale - and a Staffordshire derby - stand in their way on Saturday, and while the match outright market looks a bit short I like the look of the home side to score over 2.5 goals. It's something they've managed three times already during this incredible run (including last week at Griffin Park) there's certainly a lot of attacking potential in the side with the 3 of Michael Jacobs, James Henry and Bakary Sako interchanging nicely behind lone striker Nouha Dicko. Vale, on the other hand, have conceded 2 or more goals 8 times on their travels in League 1 (only keeping 5 clean sheets in that time). They have failed to win on the road since the end of November and that has seen their feint play-off hopes die. Micky Adams' side have settled in well to life in the third tier but mid-table would be a great achievement and I can see them being brushed aside here.

  8. Re: Sky Bet League 1 > February 18th & 19th

LO has played some tough teams lately and done quite OK. Currently they are placed 3rd in the table, just 3 points behind 2nd placed Wolves.
Is this a joke? Orient have played Rotherham, Peterborough and Preston (all promotion rivals) and gained 1 point. They lost last Tuesday at home to a resurgent Bristol City side that hadn't won away since October! The only positive for Orient is that Jakupovic is back in goal now they've renewed his loan from Hull. As I called way back in November they wouldn't go the distance and the small squad would begin to crumble. Not touching this game despite Stevenage's shocking away record.
  9. Re: Sky Bet League 1 > Tuesday October 22nd Crawley v Port Vale - Home win @ 10/11 The home side are in good form in the league at the moment, with Saturday's 1-0 win against impressive Bradford the latest 3 points. That took Crawley up to 8th and they're a strong side at home (1L in previous 13). I've got a feeling Vale are just beginning to stutter a bit after promotion having lost their last 3 games scoring only 1 goal. There seems to be a bit of value in Crawley here who do try and play some good football at times. They were unlucky to come away from Molineux with no points earlier in the season and really impressed me.

  10. Re: Sky Bet League 1 > 24th August Wolves vs Crawley (19:45 BST 23/8) Wolves are currently available at 4/5 with Skybet and 17/20 with WH. I doubt this price will be around for long and personally I expected us to be shorter given impressive performances against both Bristol City and Gillingham. Crawley lost 2-1 at home to Rotherham at the weekend and their squad isn't the largest although I suppose there is the chance they could bolster it with signings before Friday. Provided Wolves don't lose Bakary Sako before the game (which looks increasingly unlikely due to lack of interest in recent weeks) they should have too much for Crawley.

  11. Re: League 1 > Sat 17th August

Carlisle V Coventry Over 2.5 goals @ 1.80 - bet365. There's a few games that screeams overs to me in this league. Firstly - Carlisle and Coventry have been leaking goals this season.... Carlisle conceded 5 on opening day against Orient, three midweek in the cup, and another four away to Bradford at the weekend. Coventry in their desperation to claw back the minus ten points deduction awarded them have been playing some very very open football. They conceded four on Sunday against Bristol City in a pulsating 5-4 victory. Crawley Town V Rotherham Over 2.5 goals @ 1.9 - bet365. Crawley have been all at sea so far defensively, with them making several mistakes per game it seems. They conceded and scored three away to Tranmere at the weekend. While Rotherham played out a 0-0 draw with Preston at the weekend they've still scored four goals across the three games played so far, and conceded five with that 3-3 draw on opening day against Crewe. Crewe Alexandra V Tranmere Over 2.5 goals @ 2 - bet365. Crewe are traditionally a bit of an overs side, at least over the past few seasons in League One and Two. They started this season off with a 3-3 draw against Rotherham and are yet to win this season having also been knocked out of the Carling Cup by Bury, in a 3-2 reverse. Tranmere have also been playing pretty open football this season and as mentioned above, drew 3-3 with Crawley at the weekend. I just can't see any of these games not being open and subsequently ending with a few goals each. The prices seem fairly generous given the circumstances.
Also pays to remember that Steve Evans is making his return to Crawley and will surely have his Rotherham side up for it on Saturday. Those first two games stood out to me when I looked through the fixtures list.
  12. Re: Wimbledon 2013 Hoping for a more successful day at Wimbledon today, although I only have myself to blame after putting my trust in Fabio Fognini! My other loss came as Michelle Oudin suffered a bit of a shock defeat. Anyway, to today's shouts.. Go Soeda (-4.5 games) to beat Andreas Haider-Maurer @ 8/11 with bet365 Soeda's experience should see him through this match against the world number 108, with there not being a great deal of difference in the pair's rankings. AHM favours clay courts and I can't see him posing much of a threat to Soeda this afternoon, who hasn't had any trouble in the qualifying rounds to reach R1 proper (won 5/7 on grass this season). AHM is also yet to play on this surface this year and I consider that to be something else that swings the tie in the Japanese's favour. Second one for me is a bit more of a risk: Denis Kudla to beat James Duckworth 3-0 @ 7/4 with bet365 I was impressed with some of Kudla's performances at Queen's a fortnight back and I fancy him to take this match in straight sets against the young Aussie. Both came through the qualifiers at SW19 with relative ease but I think the 20 year old American will edge it today.

  13. Re: WC > Europe Qualification > 22 - 23 March The only bit of value I can seem to find in the San Marino-England match tomorrow evening is in the 'highest scoring half' market. The bet I will be taking here is 2nd half to be the highest scoring, which is available at 21/20 with WilliamHill (10/11 with SkyBet and 5/6 with PP). Due to their semi-pro status, a lot of the Sammarinese players begin to struggle in the 2nd half of games and this bet would have landed in 12 of their last 17 games (I could go on). A couple of the games where the bet didn't land involved teams like Sweden winning 6-0 and scoring 3 in both halves, another example was SM's game vs Malta that finished 2-3 thanks to a few early goals. England are notoriously slow starters and I just think, much like the Wembley match, SM may hold out for 15-20 minutes by just putting their backs to the wall before England turn on the style in the 2nd half as the game starts to open up. Odds of above/almost evens are too good to turn down.

  14. Re: Australian Open 2013

Tamira Paszek to beat Madison Keys- 2/1 Bet365- (3/10) Now, I didn't bite the bullet on Zheng but I am with Paszek and it's the first real 'underdog' that I've backed outright so far. I put the word underdog in inverted commas because I just don't see it myself. I know the American put a really good run together in Sydney, beating Safarova and Zheng and also Li Na, but she's also lost in straight sets to a girl ranked outside the top 200 this year and narrowly beat Dellacqua who isn't up to the level of Paszek. The Austrian seemed to go off the boil after Wimbledon and the grass season last year but given her quality and her game, she is no way a 2/1 shot in my eyes. She pushed Jankovic in the second set over in Sydney, and now she's won a game this season, that should give her confidence and ease the pressure off her shoulders somewhat. She has a really powerful game as she showed last year on the grass and given Keys is still inexperienced at this level, Paszek looks to be the call here.
Just read that she's been working with Andy Murray's fitness coach. Certainly worth a go at 2/1, like you say Keys is still young and her first round match wasn't the greatest in the world.
  15. Re: Australian Open 2013 Well, after yesterday's shocker, I'm going for another couple today that I feel relatively confident about: First up: Janko Tipsarevic (-6.5 games) to beat Lukas Lacko @ 4/6 with bet365 I woke up early Monday morning to watch Tipsi's match vs Hewitt, expecting a classic. What I got was the Serb turning on the style in the second set despite Hewitt going a double break up! Tipsarevic's work ethic impresses me a great deal, he didn't show any signs of giving up in that set and I think he'll be able to see Lacko off in the early hours with relative ease. His rise up the rankings in the last few years is mostly down to his ability to find some consistency, and despite Lacko's decent start to 2013 (in Auckland and Doha) he was outclassed by better players and this will more than likely be shown again. Javier Malisse v Fernando Verdasco - Over 39.5 games @ 5/6 with bet365 Another one who impressed me on Monday (and brought some profit) was the Belgian as I had him to win in straight sets. As people have said above me they can't make out why Verdasco is the favourite here, Malisse's start to the season has been really good. I don't think this will be as easy for Malisse as Verdasco, despite not being in the best form, could probably have a set in him. The five-setter against Goffin may have taken a bit out of him. If we get close match going to 4 or one that goes the distance this one could be a winner. Good luck to everyone tonight on your picks! Here's to a better 2nd round :ok

  16. Re: Australian Open 2013 Absolutely terrible day at the office for me, the only winner being Jovanovski after she fell behind in the first. Both the Cilic-Matosevic and Seppi-Zeballos games I had overs in and they were both won in straight sets! Not been a very profitable start to AO13, lets hope the 2nd round is more fruitful.

  17. Re: Australian Open 2013

Historically' date=' Robredo performs well at the Australian Open. On his last visit to Melbourne in 2011, he made the fourth round, losing to Roger Federer. My issue with him these days is that you never really know how fit he is. His loss to John Millman last week was disappointing, and he's liable these days to throw in that sort of result. In regards to this match, my concern would be is that Levine has started the season well, chalking up quite a few wins against decent players. I think I'd be more inclined to look at overs, as it's hard to see one man running away with it. My cash would not sit comfortably with Robredo, for reasons above.[/quote'] Cheers for the info, Atko. I've just had another look over the list and realised the pair won't play till Tuesday anyway so I'll see how I get on later today before committing. Levine's start was a worry for me as well, he's hit the ground running.
  18. Re: Australian Open 2013 What are people's thoughts on Robredo-Levine? There looks to be some value in Tommy at even money, despite his mixed bunch of recent results and a slow start to 2013. Fabio Fognini (8/11 @ SkyBet) to beat Bautista-Agut Fognini is quite strong on hard courts and has won the previous 2 meetings (both on hard courts). He's had a decent enough start to 2013 with a win in Sydney vs Dimitrov and Kooyang against Raonic. I think he'll just about edge this against the Spaniard.

  19. Re: Championship > Sat 15th December

Have Wolves turned it around after back to back wins? Middlesbrough nursing quite a few injuries ahead of the weekend....... http://www.mfc.co.uk/page/news/latest/0,,1~3008502,00.html?
We may have turned it around with the wins against Bristol City and Blues (the latter of which we looked really impressive in the 2nd half), but don't forget Wolves are struggling with injury problems of their own. David Edwards has been ruled out for the entire Christmas schedule with a hamstring injury and today Razak Boukari has suffered a setback with his troublesome hamstring (not that he's been involved in the past 3 months anyway). Doumbia is apparently being "nursed" through training as he battles with fatigue, so our midfield will have to be careful not to be over run by Middlesborough's strong midfield. Grant Leadbitter would be an important miss if he was injured for tomorrow's game. Personally, I think the best we can hope for is a draw out of the game so we'll see how it goes.
  20. Re: WC > European Qualifiers - October 16th A few for me on tonight's games: Faroe Islands +2 @ 10/11 Jumping on the anti-Ireland bandwagon here, and also taking advantage of the Faroes' much improved home form in recent times. The plastic pitch over there causes a number of problems for other sides, and this was particularly obvious in the game vs Sweden on Friday. Although the Swedes eventually won, the Faroe Islands did take a shock lead before quality prevailed. I'm not saying for a minute they'll beat RoI tonight but, with the state Irish football is currently in, I could see them holding out and only suffering a narrow defeat/possibly draw. Moldova to win to nil @ 4/9 with WHills Saw this one mentioned earlier on in the thread. It seems an obvious one really; although Moldova are not England I still expect them to have enough to see off San Marino and the lack of ambition going forward from the Sammarinese leads me to think a victory to nil is a distinct possibility. Norway @ 19/20 Cyprus have never beaten Norway in any previous meeting, and I can't see that changing tonight. Their only recent home qualifier victories have come against Iceland last month and Bulgaria way back in 2009, while they didn't win a single Euro 2012 qualifier at home! The only minor issue I have is Norway's away form, but they do have a good record vs weaker nations in qualifiers. Good luck tonight, everyone! :hope

  21. Re: Championship > October 6 I'm with the above post on the Blackburn-Wolves game. As a fellow Wolves fan, I think our injury problems could be an issue today as we'll lack any sort of width. It'll be interesting to see who lines up; whether Stale fancies Dave Edwards out on the flank or one of the kids will get a chance. Anyway, I quite fancy Crystal Palace @ 2.25 (bet365) today to beat Burnley. They secured a 5th win in 6 away at Molineux midweek, and although not overly impressive against Wolves, Wilfred Zaha stood out as a possible match winner again today. The boy has some real talent! (Even if his first goal was offside). Despite possessing a goal machine in Charlie Austin, Burnley really cannot defend! They've leaked 2 or more in 7 of the last 8 and kept no clean sheets, they've also only won 1 in 3 away from home. More stats: they've failed to score in their last 4 visits to Selhurst Park, and Palace are unbeaten vs them in the last 8 visits. Certainly a bit of value here.

  22. Re: Midweek > Championship > 2-3 October Hull vs Blackpool Hull to win @ 11/8 with bet365. Hull have been relatively solid this season at home, with the exception of the game against Peterborough on Saturday (which, lets face it no one saw coming). Well, some may have done as the Posh were bound to get their first win eventually! Personally I thought it'd come the week before against my Wolves side given our luck. Still I think Blackpool after an impressive start and a lot of hype from media/pundits have hit a bit of a sticky patch after their defeat against Huddersfield. The odds on Cardiff to beat them the weekend were ridiculously long, and I feel Hull may just get the three points here. I still worry about Blackpool's defense under Holloway and think with the attacking potential in Hull's side, it may be at risk. For those wanting a slightly safer bet; the DNB is 8/11. Both teams to score at 4/6 may also not be a bad call, there's been a fair few goals between these two down the years!

  23. Re: Champions League > September 19th Lille vs BATE Borisov Under 2.5 Goals - 8/11 (sportingbet) Lille have been pretty woeful so far this term and have only kept 1 clean sheet so far, whereas BATE are an in-form side. I just feel the odds on the Lille win may be a bit too short and the Belarusian's may have enough to frustrate them for most of tonight's game. They've only scored in 2 of the last 6 CL games, but managed 2 clean sheets in the qualifying rounds for the groups. Don't forget they also managed to hold AC Milan last season at the San Siro!
