  1. Re: Sky Bet Championship > Saturday February 14th Forest seem a totally different team since Freedman has taken oven. They've halted a massive slump with two consecutive wins since taking over. With the squad they've got, they should have more than enough to put away Blackpool, even taking into consideration the loss of Assombalonga and the godawful pitch that Blackpool have. Personally, I think evens is great odds here for a Forest team on a high.

  2. Re: Sky Bet Championship > Saturday November 29th Cheers Kev. I assume you mean don't win or lose? For what it's worth, I agree that's the most likely outcome. Birmingham Vs Forest Birmingham are unbeaten since Rowett has taken over, with 2 wins and 2 draws. This resurgence cannot be underestimated and they will be a tough prospect for Forest to break down, as their new found belief is having them play with renewed grit and spirit. Forest started the season in great form, that sent them to the top of the table, despite being accused of resorting to long ball, smash and grab tactics. They then went on an awful run, with 10 games without a win, the tail end of which was three losses on the trot. However, that came to an end with a home win against Norwich, followed up by a comprehensive 3:0 away win against Wolves. That result against Wolves was solid, passing performance from Forest and perhaps for the first time this season, showed just what they're capable of. And with the squad of players they have, they should be putting in performances like that more often. Both teams tails are up, but Forest certainly have the superior squad with players like Assombalonga and Lansbury in there. It won't be easy, but a Forest win at 2.4 with Bet365 looks like value to me.

  3. Re: Sky Bet Championship > Tuesday April 8th Just to add some thoughts from someone who follows Forest. They have been terrible for months now. The only glimmers of a decent team seem to come away from home, when there isn't the pressure of the home crowd. The fact that we have the likes of Wilson, Lansbury, Lascelles and Reid coming back into contention means that this game should probably be swerved. But I do think that 4 with Betvictor is good value for a Wednesday win, taking into consideration our horrendous form and rumours of off-field discontent at the City Ground. A contributing factor is also that we are pretty leaderless at the moment. We've got our academy coach trying to manage the club and we've axed most of our first team coaches amid the Davies mess. It is true that Forest have still got everything to play for, but you wouldn't have thought so watching the previous 10 games. Small stakes on - Wednesday WIN @ 4 with Betvictor.

  4. Re: Sky Bet Championship > March 8th & 9th

Not sure I share your optimism of value on the overs on this one. The majority of Forest's goals this season have come from midfield - they don't really have a recognised out-and-out striker. The engine room of the Forest midfield is Lansbury and especially Andy Reid and both are injured along with a good number of other first team players. Reid and Lansbury have scored 30% of their teams league goals between them and Reid has 11 assists on top of that. The heavy reliance on Reid for goals and creativity means in his absence' date=' and with recent poor results, I reckon Davies will look to shore up the defence and is likely to set out to try and nick this 1-0 at best.[/quote'] Totally concur with you here. Forest strikers struggle to score at the best of times, and without Reid and Lansbury there will be very little service. The only player for Forest looking likely to score at the moment is Paterson. Forest approach many of their away games quite negatively and if they do manage to take the lead, the usual tactic is to then defend deep and try to hold onto the slender lead. Not conducive to a goalfest. Likewise, Barnsley are scrapping for their lives and if they take the lead, they will almost certainly do their damned best to park the bus. This game will not be pretty and can only see 1 or 2 goals at most.
  5. Re: FA Cup > January 4th & 5th Nottingham Forest Vs West Ham Big Sam has come out and said that he will be playing a few reserves in this match and this has caused the odds to swing, with prices being about 2 for a forest win and 4 for a West Ham win. The thing is though, in the cup games this season, Forest have fielded a 100% reserve 11 themselves. So in all likelihood, it is going to be two reserve teams playing tomorrow, which begs the question, who has the better reserves? Considering West Ham are in the Premiership, I'd imagine it should be them, so with that considered, 4 is pretty good odds for them to win. Odds taken from Betvictor.

  6. Re: Sky Bet Championship > 10th / 11th August Cheers for the input Russ. As a football fan (and as a human being!) I was gutted to see Rochina get injured. He looks top quality. However, as a Forest fan it helps us out this weekend. We are on the verge of signing Kelvin Wilson from Celtic and if he goes into the team for Saturday, we have one of the best defences in the entire league. Certainly in the top 4. We also have a wealth of talent in the middle with Adlene G, Majewski, Reid, Mackie, Paterson, Lansbury, Abdoun etc. I think our weakest area by far is goal scoring strikers. We have a squad of mis-firing, low on confidence strikers who have never really reached their potential. In all honesty, I don't see Blackburn scoring more than one. And I don't see us getting more than one either as you look quite well organised. My prediction 1:1 (Lansbury FGS)

  7. Re: Championship - 3rd - 4th August

I know price is a little short' date=' but Tomorrow with the start of another thrilling season, the bet i choose to do is an obvious one, but i have a particular love and feeling for this team, Notthingam Forrest 1 against Terriers, at 1,75. Stake at 7 and let's hope to start weel the season, i know it is a kind of russian roulette, Championship, first round etc..., but i like to get in the ring, goes as it goes....They have added strength and depth to the very good squad of last term, Hudders are no pushover, but they also have a couple of defensive issue, if i am not wrong and this convinced me of doing this. Home manager seems very convinced of the new season, so come one reds.[/quote'] amen brother! Just to add my own opinion as a Forest fan. We had a strong team last season and just missed out on play-offs (if only we'd not made the Mcleish mistake!) Anyway, we've added strength all over the pitch: GK ~ De Vries CB ~ Hobbs from Hull RB/LB ~ Lichaj from Villa (played 22 games in Premierships last season) RB ~ Reyes - from WBA (Established Chile international) Winger ~ Paterson from Walsall (Sought after talented youngster) Winger/Striker ~ Mackie from QPR Davies is a top manager in this league. We have added strength to an already strong squad. Forest could do with an out and out goalscorer, so despite a very creative midfield, they might struggle to put away as many as they should. But on paper, a strong squad. As a fan you always know when you're on an upward or downward curve and Forest are certainly on the up. Prediction: 2:0 Forest.
  8. Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation QPR promoted or win the league? Tbh I don't think they will do either. I see a frustrating season ahead with many fall outs, people coming and going and general disruption left right and centre. I see them just missing out on play-offs. £100 (for me) is a lot of money to place on a bet like that. I am not entirely confident about any of your selections apart from Hull to be relegated. It's quite easy to see Wolves or Portsmouth coming 2nd as opposed to 1st. Best of luck though.

  9. Re: Npower Football League Championship > Playoff Semi 1st Leg > 9th / 10th May Betvictor are offering a money back (£10) offer on the MOM market for this game. I was thinking of going for the option of 'either goalkeeper' (14/1) to get MOM. I can't find any stats online for previous MOM awards, so I was wondering if anyone knows if either Kasper or Almunia have been awarded MOM so far this season or not? Or just how often GK get awarded it in general. I have to say I've rarely seen it myself.

  10. Re: Championship > 12th - 17th March Hull Vs Forest Both teams doing well for themselves at the moment. But with Forest winning 5 on the trot it's hard not to be tempted by odds of 3.8 for a reds win! Forest have no new injury worries and a few players coming back into the team. They've had a couple of extra days rest/training due to Hull's game on Sky. I think this game could go either way, but I'm not going to ignore such tasty odds for the form team in the championship. Forest win - 3.8 - Stanjames If you fancy a bit of first goalscorer action, then maybe have a little dabble on Lansbury at 16 (Betvictor) He's started to bang them in recently (scored 2 last match) and is oozing confidence.

  11. Re: Championship > Tue 5th March

there are some missings in Nott'ham defense' date=' should it scares us?[url']http://www.football365.com/match/3519780/preview ipswich are poor material ATM right?
I personally wouldn't be too concerned. I have to admit, Forest's weakness is probably their defence regardless of injuries, but in an out and out slog to out score one another, Forest should win this hands down anyway. Especially as Gymboy34 points out, they can't play first choice striker McGoldrick (because he is on loan from Forest). I expect Forest to field an unchanged line-up against Ipswich. Collins was subbed more as a precaution I believe and I am pretty certain he will be back in the starting team tomorrow night. I am still convinced Forest will win this and there will be goals. Just as an outside interest I might have a little something on Luke Chambers to score. The ex Forest lad might feel he has a point to prove and was always very handy attacking corners. As I say, it's purely to entertain myself. If anyone's interested, Betvictor have odds of 41 for Chambers to get 1st goal.
  12. Re: Championship > Tue 5th March Forest Vs Ipswich I just don't think you can look beyond Forest in this one. Forest have won three on the trot with old/new manager Davies. Their last home game being a 6:1 trouncing of Huddersfield. On the other hand, Ipswich have not won an away game in 2013 yet. Their record is P5 L3 D2 W0 Not inspiring. If you caught Forest's first half on sky away to Sheffield Wednesday you'd have seen some outstanding football and would never have guessed Forest were the away side playing against a team that was unbeaten in 7. Wednesday were chasing shadows. Forest win 1.95 Hills or Half/Full - Forest/Forest - 3.1 Hills

  13. Re: Everton v Man UTD Saturday 20th August 2012 What does everyone think about the odds? Do you reckon that the odds for a home win will get longer or shorter? I was also wondering about the draw? I guess the draw is mostly likely to stick where it is, but does it stand to reason that as the game approaches and people lump on Man Utd that the odds for an Everton win should lengthen a little bit by the time it kicks off?

  14. Re: England > Weekend > Championship > 4th/5th Feb

Nice write-up mate ! Gonna jump on it myself. Derby @home has been tough opponent for anybody ( 5 wins from last 6 home games) and against poor Nottingham they should def take care of bussiness. Was a bit surprised to see odds like this.. so high stakes here.
Cheers mate. The only change now would be the sad death of Nigel Doughty, Forest's owner. This might provide some sort of inspiration for the players to play in his honour. I hope they do, but I'm not confident. To be honest, even thinking about the pros and cons of this match seems so insignificant after what has happened. I'm properly gutted. In response to the Rams fan - Yes, I believe the game is going ahead as planned. Only doubt will be the weather.
  15. Re: England > Weekend > Championship > 4th/5th Feb

You have to say odds of 2.3 look pretty good for Derby against a very poor Forest. The only thing it, apparently Forest did put on a decent display in their last away game at West Ham, which they lost 2-1. Their away record isn't quite as bad as their home record. And this being a local derby, will they raise their game? But the odds for Derby do look good. http://uk.soccerway.com/national/england/championship/2011-2012/regular-season/
Yes, Forest have had a few plucky performances where they've supposedly been "unlucky" to lose. But those are few and far between and are never more than about a half hour periods where they run around trying for a bit but not really getting anywhere. And if they're lucky enough to get near goal they completely choke. I'll concede the local derby factor may play a part and that is probably the only reason I won't go too big on the Derby win. They are however the first strong bet of the week.
  16. Re: England > Weekend > Championship > 4th/5th Feb Right, I'm getting this one in early because I think the price will drop as the money starts pouring in towards the weekend. Derby Vs Forest. Where do I start? Not only is Forest's current form awful, but their entire season's form has been awful. They can't score a goal for love nor money. I mean seriously, they've not scored at home since 12th November and at one point recently they went through roughly 10 HOURS of dire football without scoring a single goal. All season the defence has been leaking like a whore at bed time and things are set to get worse now they've sold their most loyal, rock of a player in Wes Morgan, which to most fans is like ripping the heart and soul out of the club. Add into the equation that Steve Cotteril is miles out of his depth managing in the Championship (better suited to league 2 imo with his hoofball) and you get a team primed for a good hammering. The squad don't seem to care anymore, there's talks of protests at the game and the few players who might still have cared probably don't anymore as they see the club slowly being dismantled around them. Okay, so you might have realised I'm a Forest fan by now. I would delve into Derby's credentials, but I won't say much. They're a bit hit and miss. But everyone is a hit against Forest these days. Clough will want to bounce back after the Barnsley game. I'm sure they'll be up for it with it being the fiercest east midlands derby. They can taste blood already. Play it safe: Derby win 2.25 bet365 A bit of conviction: Derby AH -1: 3.35 bet365 Feeling confident: Derby AH -1.5/2: 6 bet365

  17. Re: Npower League One > Ante-Post 2011-12 Season

Perhaps one of the most concerning aspects for Sheffield Wednesday at the moment if the fact that Neil Mellor and Tommy Miller aren't at the club anymore (although Wednesday are trying to get Mellor back), leaving a 30 goal hole which hasn't been filled. The moves currently made in the transfer market will undoubtedly make Wednesday a lot more resolute defensively, but there is a worrying lack of creativity and goals in the team at the moment. Even in the lower leagues, teams who are able to retain possession and play with pace tend to do better than those who play direct or long-ball football. Wednesday are devoid of any pace (apart from Jermaine Johnson, who will probably spend half of the season injured anyway), the players aren't entirely comfortable with the ball at feet, and Megson's managerial philosophy is rooted in direct football. At it stands I'd anticipate as lot of low-scoring games involving Wednesday next season, and would be reluctant to recommend them for automatic promotion. Although I do think the division is weaker this year than last, and it is quite wide open for the top two places.
As a Forest fan, I'd like to voice a certain amount of concern on your behalf with Gary Megson. When he was at Forest he seemed to buy defender after defender with a sprinkling of defensive midfielders. We were short upfront and the few strikers he did buy were not great. He seemed to have an obsession with centre backs. I think we started one game with 6 centre backs in the starting 11. The man was depressingly defensive. He's not the kind of manager I'd want at a club that are a big fish in a small pond. Apologies if I'm overly negative. Would be nice to see you back in the Championship. But I wouldn't even touch Wednesday if they were 10/1 with the way they are at the moment. I suppose for league 1 I'm looking at Charlton. They're making some good signings and I reckon could do well this season. Only slight doubt is the manager.
