  1. Re: Arsenal v Aston Villa - Sat 17th August

Arsenal v Villa Arsenal -1 @ 11/10 Skybet Looks like another season of struggle for Villa here and it doesn't make life any easier having Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in there 1st 3 games. Whilst I think they do have enormous potential with the young players they have, the older players just really haven't been performing for them and this could be there downfall. Scoring goals won't be Villas problem this season but they could have a tough time defensively and with the attacking prowess of Arsenal I can see them scoring a few here. Arsenal ended last season really well and if they can pick up where they left off they should have a decent season regardless of not making any big signings.
I don't quite understand this reasoning. What old players are you on about? We've bought about 6 players in the summer that have added strength and depth. Not one of them is over the age of 23. Bent, Dunne and Holman have been sold off whilst the likes of Ireland and Hutton won't be nowhere near the first team squad and are now waiting to be sold. Just off the top of my head the oldest player in the starting line up today would be Vlaar (28) then the next would be around 24-25 years old. Defensively it's a fresh start. We've brought in a left back and centre half both who are expected to start. Okore and Luna. The morale is high around the club now Benteke has decided to stay and with Gabby and Weimann playing either side of him we pose a good attacking threat. Good luck with your bet though, just giving other people a heads up!
  2. Re: Group G > Oct 23 (Barcelona, Benfica, Celtic, Spartak Moscow)

I am! Barcelona have virtually their whole defence out - Puyol, Pique, Alves and Abidal all out and Busquets is suspended! Will be Mascherano and Song at the back for Barca, I actually think there is a chance Celtic can score here, although Barca will almost certainly win, depends if Celtic can force any attacks with the 12 touches of the ball they will have..:lol Hooper anytime Barca Win - 26.0 - hills - 0.5 Points Samaras anytime Barca Win - 26.0 - hills - 0.5 Points Wanyama anytime Barca Win - 26.0 - hills - 0.5 Points
Well done mate! I was so tempted all day to put a bit more cash in my account but would have only gone for Hooper. Nice to see you have a bit more sense than me! 25/1 winner!!
  3. Re: Everton v Newcastle > September 17th

I am, and I always look out for your thoughts as what you say has an impact on my own thoughts :) Newcastle are touching over 6 now, so I guess you won't touch it.... But I just can't believe the over reaction in the market because you know as well as I do that team news is often overplayed, and unless a side genuinely don't have any replacement players, they can still put out eleven footballers with two feet capable of playing. You wouldn't even see this sort of shift if united were missing vidic and Ferdinand (which I think is much more important to united, than the current missings are for Newcastle). Everton could always win of course, but as far as value goes I'd be nuts to turn away the prices on offer for Newcastle.
Bang on. I was really steering towards Everton but at 4/6 I wouldn't bother. Newcastle at 5/1 is crazy in my opinion. Even if it was small stakes which I think I will go with if no other markets appeal to me, it's well worth it. It's not like anyone could be surprised if they go to Goodison and win either, because they are more than capable. These odds are at William Hill and I'm still undecided on my selections but most probably will be looking at a Newcastle outright or DNB.
  4. Re: West Brom v Aston Villa > 28 April Villa season ticket holder here, been watching our drab all season. Went on Wednesday and the atmosphere near the end was volatile towards AMc. We've been dragged into a relegation battle and throughouly deserved so. Now these last few games are going to be really tough, starting with a local derby at West Brom, who have had another good season! I went to the fixture away last year where we went 1-0 up and lost 2-1. Their fans played a valuable part and if they do again tomorrow it'll be more bad news for us. I just cannot see us getting anymore than a draw. We've only won 7 all season after Wolves (5) and 2 of those wins have come in 2012. Now when I looked the other day Albion were 11/10 which was a beautiful price in my opinion. Don't think I'd take it if they drop below evens. I will tell you what I bet later but Albion +1, outright draw, Albion DNB or Odemwingie anytime look good picks.

  5. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 15 March

    I'm back ! and decided to chuck a £20 treble today... I've done ALOT of research n sat here for a good few hours planning this. n I'm hoping I've got this bet correct WILLIAM HILL 15 Mar 2012 - Man City v Sporting Lisbon - To Qualify Man City @ 1.44 15 Mar 2012 - Hannover v Standard Liege - Match Handicaps Hannover -1 goal @ 2.50 15 Mar 2012 - Schalke 04 v Twente - Both Teams To Score Yes @ 1.67 Stake : £20.00

Estimated Returns : £ 120.37 REASONING , Man city I'm just sure can get at least 1 goal at home and even if it goes to extra time they have the extra 30 minutes AND Penalties to quality. you must admit lisbon did get lucky in the last game even tho they did play better then expected. they struggled to get the 1 at home. so away will be even harder and even easier for city to get 1 at home. if not more than 1. so city to qualify hannover - were unlucky not to win away to standard, standard got a burst of 2 quick goals in 3 minutes during the full 90 i didn't see the game btu this shows they must have had a good 5 minutes. however hannover were away still managed 2 goals and have a big advantage with the away goals. so they should put this too bed pretty easily at home having a home record of 6-6-0 at home this season in there domestic league. :-) so hannover to win -1 handicap and shalke and twente btts. this is the best bet i can see for btts when looking into all of the games tonight. twente are a big team even tho they lost big last week. every big team loses once in a while doesn't mean they won't put up a fight here. shalke are 2.50 to qualify which shows they aint actually strong favs to win even tho the odds show different. so shalke being at home should score as normal. and twente will defo put up a fight and should at least have a better game then last and get a goal to hopefully see them qualify. so BTTS this is the 1st time I've given reasoning to my bets :-) what do you all think? and who's following me?

I like that. Hannover look like they've done the business for you. I don't see Man City not qualifying especially now Man Utd are looking like they're out. Don't know much about the Schalke Twente game but 2 teams capable of scoring goals. I went for over 2.5 myself. Good luck with that. I added you on Skype by the way.
  6. Re: UEFA Champions League > Wednesday 14 March CSKA +3 is EVENS at William Hill. The bookies are obviously expecting a Real Madrid thrashing then with odds like that but no bet from me. If I were though I'd have a little dabble on that purely because of the value. CSKA aren't that bad of a team despite how good Madrid may be at home. Napoli Chelsea is another no bet but Chelsea to qualify at 2/1 looks decent value. Napoli play good attacking football but get exposed quite a bit and concede simple goals. Chelsea need to be up for it though, alot has gone on lately and the team will still be regrouping. That doubled up with +3 CSKA comes in at 5/1 which does not look too bad. Good luck to those betting tonight. I will be watching and enjoying for a change, need to give my nails a rest...

  7. Re: Swansea v Man City > March 11th

Swansea DNB 10/3 Hills 2/10 When I was at Villa Park a few weeks back, had we had the team we had last year (Downing, Young etc) we would have beat Man City. We were shockingly bad yet it took them deep into the second half to finally score and keep it that way. I do not rate Man City away from home. They grind out results and their odds are useless. Swansea can play some Barcelona-esque football and hopefully playing at home today their fans can get behind them and they can help Man Utd out.
    :clap
