  1. Re: February 10 - February 16

Have been watching quite a few matches from ATP Memphis this week and boy you just gotta admire this Michael Russell. Guy is like what, 36 years old but still runs like a rabbit and fights like a lion. Such an inspiration, many of the younger generation players would have a lot to learn from him. Then you have guys like Lacko, Young or Vesely who, in this tournament at least, just totally gave up when either having lost a lead or being down a set. Russell on the other hand was down 3-6, 0-3 against Przysiezny but fought his way back to win the match. Today versus Hewitt he was a break up two times in the second set and served for the match at 5-4 - only to be broken. Then had a *6-4 on tiebreak but blew it. However, he didn't let the choke affect him, kept his cool and took the tiebreak 8-6. As CzechPunter put it, this guy plays his heart out everytime he steps on court. So my point is, always take the players mentality into account when betting the handicaps. This might be old news for the veteran punters here, but some less experienced guys could use the information. And that's why we are here for - to share information, right? :)
Another Russell story :) He was down 0-6 1-4* (double break down in 2nd set) last year against Kuznetsov at Maui, nothing was going for him, but he fought hard and managed to squeeze out a break of serve, from that point on everything changed and Russell ended up winning 0-6 7-5 6-3. I would add Berlocq and Dodig in the same group as Russell and Ferrer. They can lose, play badly, but it's never due to lack of effort.
  2. Re: April 1 - April 7 Problem is Pavlyuchenkova is very similar to Babos, hit and miss and has a worse footwork than Hungarian. Against Davis in 2nd set from 3-1* deuce she hit 12UE in row to go down *3-4 0-30... then saved 4BP in that game to hold 4-4. Similar with Babos yesterday against Niculescu, at the opening of the match she made 7-8 consecutive UE. Niculescu can frustrate opponents, especially big hitters, returns everything and does that forehand slice that has a counter spin so if the opponent hasn't got a good footwork and takes the ball fairly early she'll make her way. Really liked what Suarez-navarro did to her at Paris, mixing it up all the time, but can't see one dimensional players taking out Monica here, she took care two of the already. Boring maybe, but very effective style.

  3. Re: US Open 2012 @fishy, Czechpunter - don't know have you watched Jovanovski lately, but ain't been that great even she won a tournament and some matches, especially that defeat against Vinci, watched that and she was plain horrible, when she's off her game, Vinci bothering her with consistency, she hasn't got a B plan and Bojana is usually UE machine. She hasn't in that period faced a bigger quality opponent than her. Couldn't back at these odds even for (+5 games). Handicaps on Vesnina and Scheepers seem a better option to me, they could keep it fairly competitive. Also Goffin handicap, Berdych hasn't performed well lately.

  4. Re: French Open 2012

Hi guys, Its my first post here but following tennis thread long time ago. Thanks for your picks which gave me some profit already. For tommorow I am wonderring if Ungur, Vasselin can cover the lines? Ungur +10.5 looks much against struggling federer. I saw that if Fede made a break he is walking and playing calm on his serve just to finish set. And now against Kamke he had 47 unforced errors, 16 break points 8 saved. Stats not so very good against Kamke who isnt so good this year and actually on clay.. And Ungur look not so good and not so bad now. 18/12 on clay and only playing on clay. In 1st round defeated Nalbandian 3-1, Nalba is old man but playing not so bad now. I think Ungur can cover this line not so hard. And Roger Vasselin +9.5 against Potro.. Well Roger playing home and always is fighting with everyone especially at home. In Nice with Almagro lost only 6-7 4-6, and he looked good. And now in 1st round Potro had mini injury at his knee I guess and he let Montanes to take 1 set, but he is all head better than Montanes and its not hard to win over him without running much on court. And now he gets Frenchman who will fight and play the best he can. For me spread is too big. What you guys think about it? Thanks in advance, because I am looking to bet those bigger than usually.
I would be careful with Del Potro. Watched his match, and at one point he had some issues with the knee, got it additionally strapped, took some painkillers. Montanes after winning a set, and having some chances at the start of third set pretty much gave the match away with his ballbashing. ERV played a decent match after first set, nothing special, Popisil just making a lot of errors. I agree with you +handicap on ERV and probably overs. He should be solid. Also will try for small stake on ERV win. I don't like Fed-Ungur from a betting point of view, as soon Fed realizes Ungur hates playing at the net, he will use dropshots and short balls all the time and we all know that Fed knows how to serve and volley, even on clay. Also if Ungur doesn't get that backhand going, it'll be quick and sweet. Nalbandian converted only 1/11 BP against Ungur, Fed will take advantage.
  5. Re: April 16 - April 22 Challenger Sarasota Russell vs Kuznetsov Russell 2:0 @ 1.8 (local) Russell leads h2h 8:0, losing only one set in process, won 2 times on clay, both green. Kuznetsov never excelled on clay, don't expect him to show here much. He beat Delic in first round, who is like a cow on ice playing clay. Russell has a nice momentum from Houston, these tournaments also count for American WC for French Open, so motivation is there. Challenger Rome Huta Galung - Krajinovic Krajinovic @ 2.05 (local) Filip finally back after injuries, great talent, demolished Mannarino 6:0 6:1 in first round, should be capable of pushing things far here. Only concern remains his fitness level, but so far everything looked decent.

  6. Re: April 16 - April 22

Sarasota challenger Russell (vs Ramirez Hidalgo) @ 1.6 (local) Should be too much by now for Ruben, two weeks with 2 finals in a row and a lot of matches with 3 sets, also in qualifying entry list this weekend for Barcelona. Doubt he will put much effort in this, also faster green clay ain't a surface he prefers. Mike made some decent results last year on green clay, should take advantage here.
    6-4 6-3
I'm also on him today against Querry. Sam on clay (even green) shouldn't have a big advantage on his serve, and Baker looked great so far. Shame injuries ruined Brian's carrer. Baker @4.1 (local) Baker +4.5 @1.9 (local)
3-6 6-1 3-6 Broke Sam in first game in third set and then fell apart. Shame, but a nice week for Brian.

  8. Re: April 16 - April 22

Brian Baker is to 2/1 to beat Ryan Sweeting at Saraosota. Could be worth a go. Baker has serious talent.
I'm also on him today against Querry. Sam on clay (even green) shouldn't have a big advantage on his serve, and Baker looked great so far. Shame injuries ruined Brian's carrer. Baker @4.1 (local) Baker +4.5 @1.9 (local)
  9. Re: Croatia Prva HNL 2011/2012 20:00 Lokomotiva Zagreb - Dinamo Zagreb Dinamo against Dinamo "B", on home stadium, first game with supporters back on Maksimir. Dinamo will probably field a full squad as a test for the champions league game against Lyon on Tuesday. Lokomotiva played some nice football so far, but doubt that Dinamo will let them play here. Should be a class above Lokomotiva, and doubt the bosses will let a bad result here ruin the atmosphere for Champions league clash. Dinamo without major missings, Lokomotiva also. For me no value in Dinamo (-1), but a decent price for Lokomotiva doesn't score. Dinamo so far has conceded only once against Hajduk. Dinamo @ 1.25 (local) - for combos Lokomotiva doesn't score @ 1.65 (local) - stake 7/10

  10. Re: Tennis - 25-31 July

Unbelievable - Both Veic and Dodig lost in the opening round in Umag. I did not see the match, but either Dodig is an utter clown, or there are some health issues I am not aware of.
Ramos played great for most of the time, overpowering him. Ivan had no variety in his shots. Also very low first serve percentage, pretty bad serving from Dodig. Dodig called medical in third set at 3:0 for Ramos, ankle. From that point his movement was limited.
  11. Re: Tennis - 18-24 July

Looking at the Lexington Challenger tournament, is it just me or have the bookies got it horribly wrong in the match up between Fritz Woolmarans and Grigelis laurynas. The south african hasnt won a match on the hard stuff since november last year and comes up against the 20 year old Lithuanian who just won the Aptos final beating players like Igor and matthew Ebden. the kid has nerves and it was his first final. odds of 2.2 are too high to turn down, lets just hope he is still motivated.
Seems like Grigelis pulled out. Jordan Cox took his place as a lucky loser. Although match like Wolvermans- Grigelis, both pretty much all serve players, is always 50-50 to me, so value was on Grigelis.
  12. Re: Tennis - 18-24 July Challenger picks: Van der Merwe (vs Ghedin) X Pospisil (vs Renavand) @ 1.75 (nordicbet) - stake 7.5/10 Suppose Merwe came last week in South America because there are couple of hard challengers in a row with pretty low quality opponents. He reached semifinals last week on clay, and his game should work more on hard surface. Also has to defend decent sum of points in next couple of weeks, so a good result here would take off some pressure. Ghedin ain't a great player and will struggle returning Merwe's serve. Pospisil should be a class above Renavand. Only question is allegedly his sprained ankle during last weeks match against Stakhovsky. But he should do this fairly easily. Renavand struggled during qualies match, played for 2 and half hours against low ranked Panfil, and somehow prevailed in tiebreak of third set. If Pospisil is on Renavand should cause no trouble to him. Kubot (vs Capkovic) u19.5 @ 1.83 (bet365) - stake 3/10 Kubot could be really tired after last week in Stuttgart, but here he received a WC, his homeland, he should pull off some decent performances. A break per set should be manageable. GL!

  13. Re: Tennis 16-22 May Challenger picks Beck (vs Jaziri) @ 1.4 (local, nordicbet) - stake 10/10 Beck (vs Jaziri) (2:0) @ 1.9 (nordicbet) - stake 9/10 Beck (vs Jaziri) (-3.5) @ 1.8 (nordicbet) - stake 9/10 Huge amount of stake, but odds are insane. Can't see the catch here why so high odds on Karol. He is great challenger player on hard/indoor hard and can't see him failing here against futures/qualifying challenger player Jaziri who plays only clay. Beck (vs Jaziri) X Udomchoke (vs Inoyatov) X Sugita (vs Rumyantsev) @ 2.19 (local) - stake 7/10 Udomchoke and Sugita playing against local players. Inoyanov plays mostly futures, retired last week in QF of Kazakhstan F3 futures. Also Udomchoke has a 2-0 H2H against him. Even in recent poor form he should defeat Inoyanov here. Sugita also playing a futures player, a young 1992 born Russian. Even on futures fields he hasn't got some major success and prefers to play clay (all futures titles on clay surface). Expecting Sugita to take this fairly easily. Brugues-Davi (vs Schüttler) @ 2.7 (local) - stake 1.5/10 Brugues-Davi won 4 futures titles in a row on hard during April, comes with great confidence and is worth a shot here against 35 year old German. Belyaev (vs Kirche) @ 1.4 (local, nordicbet) - stake 6/10 Belyaev (vs Kirche) (2:0) @ 1.9 (nordicbet) - stake 4.5/10 Belyaev (vs Kirche) (-3.5) @ 1.8 (nordicbet) - stake 4.5/10 Kirche is here only beacause his ranking was too low for RG qualifications. Hasn't played hard in a long time, even when he didn't it lost to worse players than him. Surface should suit Belyaev more (he defeatd Paire, Ram, Niland in past on hard), he used to get some nice results on "soviet" challengers, hope he'll get the job done here.

  14. Re: Tennis - Madrid ATP Masters/WTA Premier Event (1-8 May) Monaco (vs Seppi) @ 1.5 (nordicbet, expekt) - stake 7/10 Monaco (vs Seppi) (2:0) @ 2.2 (expekt) - stake 3/10 Already down to 1.44 on bet365. Seppi had a couple of weeks of because of ankle injury and now plays his first match on clay this year. Anyone who had an ankle injury knows how hard is to rely fully on it for the first time after the injury. Clay with all the running and sliding puts even more stress on it than other surfaces. Seppi leads H2H here 2-0, but can't see him beating Monaco here. Also both haven't made some big impact this year. Expecting Seppi to struggle and Monaco to do this fairly easily.

  15. Re: Tennis 25 April - 1 May Gil (vs Verdasco) @ 2.22 (pinnacle) - stake 6/10 Couldn't overlook this one. Verdasco on a slump recently, and Gil will for sure give all he's got to get a win here. After all it's his home tournament. Also he defends last years final here. Verdasco didn't defend some serious amount of points in last weeks, and needs his batteries to be recharged for RG. Gil also made unexpected performance @ Monte Carlo where he reached QF and proved he can currently cope with decent players on clay. Home players usually do well in 250 tournaments, so expecting Gil to prevail here. Delic (vs Duclos) (2:0) @ 1.83 (bet365) - stake 7/10 Delic (vs Duclos) (u21.5) @ 1.80 (bet365) - stake 5/10 Amer on his way back after serious injury. Took Harrison out in first round, served decently. Duclos is a hard court player who had troubles with young american Collarini in first round and has only played 4 matches on clay, including american har-tru. If Amer is up to his level he shouldn't have problems here. Just a big class difference.

  16. Re: Tennis 25 April - 1 May Leon Challenger 03:10 CET Monroe (vs Ramirez) (-4) @ 1.8 (nordicbet) - stake 8/10 Monroe (vs Ramirez) (2:0) @ 1.65 (nordicbet) - stake 8/10 Very weak field on this challenger, most of clay guys are in Europe or Sarasota, so in Mexico there are couple of low ranked guys and bunch of futures players. Haven't seen Ramirez play but he had some nice results on futures fields in last half year, but going against player who has more experience on this level and has defeated better players not so long ago should be too much for him. Also Ramirez due to injury hasn't played for 3 months, great players can't easily cope with that, let alone kid who's tryin to make a way. Monroe is just a journeyman, but here he should get the job done quite easily. GL!

  17. Re: Tennis - April 4-10

Mardy Fish returns to action in Houston and takes on Albert Ramos. Fish's best surface is by no means clay but he can play on it and the quicker red brick will help him out here. He's the top-ranked American now so I don't expect him to rest on his laurels, so I feel MARDY FISH -3.5 GAMES is appealing. Ramos is essentially another Challenger player who has got into a 250 event. Competent enough on clay but not in the same league as the bigger boys here. I'd expect Fish to take care of him comfortably enough. Selections Mardy Fish -3.5 games AH @ 1.877 with Pinnacle 3pts :hope
Agree with this one. Ramos is also in Monte-Carlo qualification draw which starts on 9.4. and he hasn't pulled out still. Fish doesn't like clay to much, but he should be up for this.
  18. Re: Tennis - April 4-10 Di Mauro (vs Guez) @ 1.42 (Nordicbet) - stake 6/10 Di Mauro (vs Guez) (-3.5) @ 1.85 (Nordicbet) - stake 4/10 Hope Alessio will be up for this. Defeated Hajek pretty easily in first round, on the other hand Guez got broken 4 times by Muster :fp. Just don't feel he can perform in this moment very well on this kind of surface. Di Mauro is a clay court specialist (also a betting specialist :D, but willing to overlook him on this one) and should have an upper hand on this one. Lapentti (vs Pereira) (u20.5) @ 1.83 (bet365) - stake 7.5/10 Pereira is a young Brazillian who came through qualifiying and hasn't got much experience on this level. Doub't he can push Giovanni over this line. Gio recently won titile on hard in San Jose and surely should have too much for Pereira here. Price and line seems great.

  19. Re: Tennis - April 4-10 Riba-Madrid (vs Golubev) @ 2.8 (Pinnacle) - stake 4/10 Riba-Madrid (vs Golubev) (+3.5) @ 1.813 (Pinnacle) - stake 6/10 Two out of form players, but seems to me odds are set up wrong. Golubev had some decent performances last year of clay (although he prefers hard), but start of the year was pretty horrible for him. He even got bageled by Dodig on hard 2 weeks ago. Riba ain't much different, trying to adapt to ATP major events ain't easy, he should try these 250 events to make some impact. Riba is a clay court specialist, and taking in account their form, looks like a decent value on him. Played a decent match agaisnt Huta-Galung in first round, ofered no break points. Just can't see Golubev destroying him here.

  20. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Casablanca qualies Luczak (vs Peya) X Niland (vs Smethurst) X Kukushkin (vs Ziadi) @ 2 (local) - stake 8/10 Three favorites should pass these easily. Kukushkin with his experience here and his play on clay during the years should have no troubles to pass local boy Ziadi. Luczak has 7-0 H2H vs Peya. Most of the matches we're tight, but Peya yesterday got bagled agaisnt Jaziri :fp Luczak was in final of Rabat challanger couple of weeks ago also in Morocco, and if he turns it up see no real chance for Peya. Smethurst also had trouble with Ouahabi, local Moroccan, played a three setter yesterday. Just expecting Conor to make this easy even he isn't some great clay player. Carreno Busta (vs Granollers) @ 1.65 (local) - stake 4/10 This guy is in a rise last couple of weeks, had some nice results in Rabat, yesterday defeated Hernych, he and younger brother Granollers probably met at some junior level, but so far Carreno's got better results. Haven't see him yet play so more of a feel bet on recent weeks, than a real insight in his way of playing. Lower stake for that. Also will try: Bautista-Agut (vs Schukin) @ 3.35 (local) - stake 1.5/10
