  1. Re: Food at racecourses I'm finding it more and more difficult to drag myself to a racecourse these days, admission & travel costs, coupled with ripp-off food and drink prices. It seems racecourses prefer the grandstand pisshead / family enclosure picnic bbq i dont bet clientele nowadays. When you throw in the ridiculous margins amature hour bookmakers put up verses online value, promotions, fptp and disq winner etc, you do have to wonder why any punter would bother going to the racecourse.

  2. Re: Grand National Thread I'm on Midnight Chase at approx 100s on the machine, but then saw it drift to 200s after connections said they were missing the national, but according to the attheraces website the horse was'nt one of the 8 withdrawn at the latest forfiet stage (today) :unsure. Am i smelling a rat here ? surely if connections wanted a crack at the national then it HAS to be this year off a mark of 158 while the horse is in great form. Don't know what the horses new official rating is but would imagine it to be in the middle to high 160s. Its no brainer for me, come on lady clark, just do it :hope

  3. Re: BBOTD - 14th of Feb Double Vodka 4.20 catt 1 pt win 4/1 BOG bet365 Looked like returning to form last time when beaten by an improving sort of Donald McCains over todays trip, and has C&D form aswell. The favorite Heavenly Chorus looks like its got a lot on its plate imo, effectively 16lb higher than winning a 0-112 last time, todays 0-134 rates a big step up in class and i'm happy to take it on.

  4. Re: BBOTD - 20/1/11 2.40 Ludlow Alexander Beetle 1pt win 16/1 Bet365 This horse showed some promise last time out when falling in a hotter race than todays. Hen Knights horse just starting to look like they may hit some form after a woeful season sofar, and she does like her winners on a right handed track.

Hen Knights horse just starting to look like they may hit some form after a woeful season sofar, and she does like her winners on a right handed track. Took the 25s last night, now into 16s which is more realistic.

  6. Re: ATR - Who are we? Some cracking intro's there, really enjoy reading how other punters go about their betting. I'm simon, 39 years old and have been interested in horse racing from about the age of 12. What started as a fascination with grand national soon became a serious hobby by the time i turned 18, strangley i was the only one in our family to take any sort of interest in the horses. Throughout the years i tried various tipsters to no avail, apart from a couple of seasons in the 90's when i was getting some great info from the big lambourn jump yards. However, like all good things this too came to an end, and i slowly realised the best and most successful (and enjoyable) way to bet on horses was through sheer hard work and form study. I'd have the raceform updates sent weekly as i was obsessed with looking at nearly every race a horse had run - the last 3 or 4 runs in the racing post were never enough, and by keeping records of my bets found that i was doing quite well. I'm a little bit more up to date now and use the laptop and racing post website to do all my work :lol. I noticed from my bet records that most of my winners came from chases, and to this day that remains my focal point, although i do still have some bets over hurdles its very rare that i bet on the flat. Well, thats a little about me, sorry for any spelling mistakes and poor gramar, english not really a strong point. :cheers

  7. Re: Best Bet of The Day 06/01/11

7.10 Wolves: Cane Cat 1pt win @ 7/1 WillHill BOG Price looks good value IMO. Horse looked a little unlucky LTO when not getting clear run at Kempton over this trip. May not have won that day but was certainly entitled to finish a lot closer and 1lb rise in the handicap seems fair. Will need luck in running if adopting similar tactics this evening but in a very poor looking race think 7/1 is a great bet.
Never placed to challenge imo, and one to keep a close eye.
  8. Re: Jump Racing - 15th December Hi all, first post on PL after lurking for a while, great site. Really looking forward to tomorrows racing, couple of decent cards on. I have to be against Twist Magic on a left handed course myself, could well win easily but at 7/4 he's not for me. The one i do like is Nicholls other runner Breedsbreeze. Looked a decent animal before the fall at ascot and has already beat Deep Purple, albeit over hurdles. At 7/1 i'll risk a small bet. Knowing the owners love of the race could be signifacant that PN has chosen this as his comeback run. Of course the horses fitness is taken on trust and could just as easily pull up. In the 2.05, i feel there's plenty of horses with a lot to prove and i was quite taken with just how strongly Carrickmines travelled last time out, also interesting that Johnson has taken the ride instead of either 2 Hobbs runners. Martys Mission would'nt be out of it either, got badly hampered in the same race as Carrickmines and gets a 10lb pull. 2.05 1.5pt Carrickmines @9/2 BOG 0.5pt Martys Mission @10/1 BOG 3.10 1pt Breedsbreeze 7/1 BOG
