  1. Re: Barney Curley - How does he get away with it? I give Barney full credit he puts his cash down and gets his reward. Hes a face and a discussion point which is what racing needs, if they were all dead pan boring no frills trainers you wouldn't get the buzz and interest that racing needs. Imagine the preimiership with 20 Roy Hopdgsons and no 'Arry Redknapp ! As for the horse last night it was blinkered so in my eyes a good enough reason for the improvement plus he bumped him out and rode at the front the whole race. Harry Redknapp was there last night witth his horse 'Arrys Horse' he was telling everyone it would win, he put money down it came no where. Some gambles win some don't. Alot of Barneys horses are first time out after a long break. If your in the know on a gamble your on to a good thing but if your not you just have to take your hat off and applaud. The work that goes into getting a gamble right must be massive and i fully applaud and support anyone that does it.

  2. Re: Hadden Frost It was a mistake by the lad but we all make them. I backed the Sam Twiston Davies horse the time he did it. I didn't back this one. I feel a bit sorry for the backers but the lads got a 12 day ban for making a mistake. Jamie Spencer f@@ks up one in three if not more but nothing happens to him. The likes of STD and Hadden Frost do it once and everybody wants them hung.

  3. Re: BBOTD - 5th Feb 2011 Hi, Fairly new to site but been betting on and off for a few years. My bets for today are 235 Sandown Captain Chris. Reason for this tip is has twice finished second to arkle fav. Ghizaio, the captain should appreciate a right hand course and forecast good ground. As long as the track doesn't get loose on top ground and course should be fine, plus the longer trip a plus. Main dangers i feel is Nadiya De La Vega getting a 10lb weight allowance and Also Rock Noir fantastic in France, the worlds best jockey aboard but still feel the Captain has enough. My other tip today is for Adams Island in the 320 Ffos Las. About a 9/2 - 5/1 shot. He finished behind the well fancied and talented Wymatt and Mostly Bob. A repeat performance shouyld be more than enough to see off this field, the jockey has a good partnership with the horse and i feel at 9/2 - 5/1 a e/w bet to nothing. The main danger i fel will be triggerman but he has failed to finish lately (fell last twice) and confidence may be dented. Good luck all with what you back.

  4. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sunday 2nd January tipster87.jpgPeut Etre Sivola 2.10 Plumpton Peut Etre Sivola can bounce back from a lacklustre performance last time and bag the At The Races Sussex National at Plumpton. Trainer David Pipe knows what it takes to win this three-mile-five-furlong heat having saddled Master Overseer to victory last term and that horse takes his chance again. However, as he is returning from a 364-day break, preference is for the stable's perceived second-string Peut Etre Sivola, particularly as he has already landed a similar event at Fontwell this term. The seven-year-old is not the most consistent runner but showed the benefit of a previous run when easily accounting for the reopposing Kawagino in the Southern National back in November. He put up no kind of show when pulled up in the Devon Marathon at Exeter, running a bit flat before being pulled up four fences from home. Peut Etre Sivola has had a bit of a break since then and reunited with Johnny Farrelly, who has ridden him to victory three times, he might represent a value bet.

  5. Re: The Jockey Thread I backed Silaah today, in a single and treble and doubles with Ace of spies and Nightjar. I lost a bit of money but i don't think the jockey is to blame, hes young and inexperienced and when you put your cash down you have to consider this. Everymanforhimself didn't win out of turn and is no donkey. Hes a good horse and won well. Yes the jockey on silaah could of maybe gone for it earlier, but would he of won ? i doubt it. He could of stayed on the bridle and maybe won ? More likely because when he sat and drove the horse stopped but thats inexperience. young and inexperienced, he'll learn. It annoys me when you constantly hear and read people say the jockey is to blame especially when there young and learning. Everybody has to start somewhere and when yuo back claimers and apprentices you have to take this in to consideration.

  6. Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Hi Haye Vs Harrison. Don't rate either of them and 1 lucky punch will end 1 or the other. I think they'll both come out all blazing and sky sports are 4/6 that either of them win inside 6 rounds looks pretty good to me. Wouldn't ever back anything at 1/8 but sky are offering 1/8 that either wins inside 12 rounds, i don't bet at those sorts of odds but its a banker bet it won't go 12 rounds. Ones got a weak jaw and ones got no heart. Heavyweight division is rubbish at the moment.

  7. Re: BBOTD 14th of September Hi, My first horse racing post, been dabbling on the horses for past 18 months or so up and down as you'd expect ! Three for today all look to have a great chance are - 350 lingfield Librettista for Kirsty Milckzeik and Cumani - great pair when teamed together Kirsty will give it everything and at 3/1 looks excellent value with not much to beat. 425 Haydock - green lightning - Johnson horse need i say more ?! You can always expect a good ride for your money from a Johnson horse again not much in the race and got a good draw and a good jockey again at 7/2 looks good value. 425 Listowel - Doctor Deejay 4/1. Ruby the master on board and getting weight from main danger Gimmis rock. Excellent value. Also in this race is Perfect buttons currently 16/1 and at a 1/4 the odds e/w 4/1 to place looks massive as hes finished third in last three or four races. I'm going to put those two in a straight forecast. My main three selections i will put in a trixie and back Doctor Deejay in a single may also double him up with Dettoris godolphin ride at Yarmouth. Frankie has a ride in the first at yarmouth which looks to have a good chance.

  8. Re: UEFA Europa League > 16th September Salzburg Man City 5/2 for the draw at corals looks pretty good to me and A.Madrid at 16/1 1/2 odds each way to make the final (basically 8/1 to get to the final) looks pretty good to me. They're a good side they will finish third in the Spanish league, teams dont normally take the Europa league seriously especially the CL Drop outs and its pretty much likely to be the only trophy they could win. I don't think the English teams will bother with it to much, Liverpool are the exception but are to unreliable at the moment to back seriously. man City won't bother with it either, looking at the rest of the teams at bigger prices outright Zenit St Petersburg (recent CL experience) at 33/1 looks ok and .Dortmund (25/1), Leverkusen (28/1) and Stuttgart (40/1) have some appeal as German football will be bouyed by the world cup and a real confidence will be there now.

  9. Re: UEFA Champions League > 14th September

Hi, My first post - i'm going for Lyon draw (11/5), Bayern win (4/6), Spurs draw (11/5), Buraspor draw (11/5) and Spartak win (10/3). Doing them in trebles doubles and accumalator. William hill offering 40/1 man utd win 3-1 Rooney scores first, just got to make sure Rooney is playing but if so its worth a speculative tenner. Don't see any value in the short priced ones this week so small stakes on the above and see how things progress before commiting large stakes. Good luck with what you all have
Reasons for picking these - Lyon/Schalke Lyon are a good team but i think Schalke will be very strong at the back and it has 0-0 written all over it with neither team wanting to commit to much going forward. Bayern although not started great are a good european outifit and i think a dark horse for the final (i've backed them e/w to get to the final) and Roma have started poorly and also not a great team, i think Bayern will win 1-0. Buraspor - A team i know nothing about but at home i think they should be good enough to get a draw - probably the weakest link in my tips ! Spartak have been playing well, added a couple of good players and Eastern European football is getting better all the time. i don;t rate Marseille at all and i think it will be a 2-0 win for Spartak. Spartak should come through the group with Chelsea and if i could get a decent price i'd take them to top the group as i think at home they can beat Chelsea and at the Bridge i think they could park the bus and make it very hard for them to win. Ultimately the group will be decided on goals i think. I think outright real will win the CL because of Jose and a decent price double on Real to win the Spanish league and CL would be very appealling. I also think Bayern will get to the final provided they don't clash before hand. I don't see the English teams progressing much further then the Quarters. Arsenal to be last English team. They were poor last year, nobody has really added any one to there squad of note while Real have gone from strength to strength and Germany had a fantastic World cup and this should and will breathe real confidence into there club football.
