  1. Re: X-Factor On another forum someone posted the averages for every weeks voting and was quite interesting. Only Aiden and Mary finished well outside their average position. Mary should be 2nd on averages, but came 5th while Aiden should have been 6th, but came 9th (somehow, dont know how Katie got picked to stay before him).

  2. Re: X-Factor Matt deserved winner, but Rebecca would have been equally deserved. I think Matt has that little bit more charisma, he moves around the stage more and it give him the edge in the competition over the weeks. You can see even by the other contestants he was a popular choice too. From this series I hope he, Rebecca and Aiden really go on and sell records. One Direction will no doubt aswell, but I think they still need alot more growing to do as a group. They got thrown together only a few months ago so did well to achieve what they did. Well done to all who backed Matt at quite good odds all the way since week 2, because hes won every single week in the votes since then.

  3. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 4th November I did an acca on these (stanjames): B. Leverkusen -1 @ 19/20 I think they are a superior team than their Greek opponents especially on home style, it has already been mentioned in here so I do not need to add too much more. I think this should be a blitz and they need the win. Porto v Besitkas over 2.5 goals Porto love to attack and are a very good home team. I was thinking of -1 again, but maybe Besitkas will nick a goal and are not a poor team themselves. Could be closer than expected in this regard, but I expect alot of goals. Dinamo Kiev to win 8/15 A simple bet, Kiev are a good home team in Europe and have more pedigree than their opponents. AZ are not as strong as they were while Kiev can still go far in this competition and a home win is fully expected. The price is rather good for the accas. Man City -1 @ 15/8 I thought why not? Man City to win outright is a good price, but to win -1 is a fantastic price. Lech Poznan have surprised many people by even getting to the GS, but City have too much firepower and class for them. I expect at minimum a 2 goal win, if not more, hopefully they get the early goal. Bate Borisov to win @4/6 It was mentioned that the price is rising and I have no idea why considering the Belarusians are the superior outfit and a win here would almost garauntee progress. Lausanne v Sparta Prague over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 Considering the first game was 3-3 and Sparta are desperate for a victory they will come out here all guns blazing. I think the 10/11 just for the win is a very good price in fact, but already have that in another acca, so I went for this method. I fancy there to be more goals again as both teams are vulnerable at the back. PSV HT/FT @ 1/2 Debrecen are one of the weaker teams in the competition so PSV should be able to blitz them at their own ground. This could have even been a -2 thing, but the HT/FT is a safer bet.

  4. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 4th November Only advice I can give on Samp v Metalist is that the Ukrainian team is almost a bogey team for Samp as they knocked them out 2 years ago aswell. Cassano has also been suspended from the squad because of some more 'Cassanate' as its known in Italy. The guy is just mental. That said, Samp have a reasonable record even without Cassano in recent times. Italian teams are poor in EL though and the value is certainly with Metalist, though I obviously want Samp to win.

  5. Re: Golf: European Tour 2010 - HSBC Champions I do not fancy Manassero even though I think he will be a top golfer. There was a lot of fuss for him to even get to Shangai with the visa and everything and after his win the last tournament he may not be strog enough yet to cope with what is a much better field. Still I hope he proves me wrong considering he is Italian like me. I just did a few 3 balls on Stan James, trebles and acca. E. Molinari to beat Allenby/Kim @ 7/4 No real reason just my fave golfer. Quiros to beat Fowler/Stenson @7/4 Solid golfer, would need Fowler to mess up really to get this one, but the American is still inconsistent and a good round could see Quiros win this 3-ball. Poulter to beat Ishikawa/Watney @ 13/8 Poulter was just so hot in the ryder cup. I actually think he is a good bet to win this tournament. F. Molinari to beat Crane/Kim @ 13/8 Chicco has been so inconsistent recently. Can either hit a 7 under round or 7 over round, just hope its a good day for him.

  6. Re: X-Factor In reply to what was said about the youtube vids (mostly younger people just going back over the songs) I will also put up the amount of likes each contestant have on their facebook musician page. Considering you can get just 1 like per person (I think) this can be a little more accurate. Facebook Likes: Cher Lloyd - 1,047,072 Matt Cardle - 286,233 One Direction - 109,458 Mary Byrne - 89,047 Aiden Grimshaw - 35,933 Katie Waissel - 27,048 Wagner - 26,933 Rebecca Ferguson - 23,015 Paije Richardson - 13,849 Treyc Cohen - 8,962 I think this sums up my thoughts for sure on Treyc and Paije that they are alsmot the invisible duo of this show really. Surprised Paije has not been up yet for a sing-off, but it must be a matter of time. I think he is a good singer, but getting no publicity at all a bit similar to Treyc. With Rebecca it is unexplicable how she is that low in the list. By far the best vocals in the competition and the most consistent so far aswell. All I can think is her lack of publicity has also kept her so low, but she has alot of time for the public to get to know her. Also I think alot of the older audience (not on facebook either) would like her, a simple singer, nothing too flash. The facts are we all missed the boat on Cher IMO. Even if she does not go on to win, she was always a great price and she is clearly one of those who you either really like or really hate, but after week 4 performance alot of people have even started to change their mind. She connects with the younger audience, and in general I assume those are the people who vote most. For week 4 hits so far on youtube Cher Lloyd - 1,012,372 One Direction - 245,865 Matt Cardle - 209,399 Rebecca Ferguson - 206,221 Aiden Grimshaw - 167,407 Mary Byrne - 116,153 Katie Waissel - 103,558 (sing/off 3,126) Paije Richardson - 90,999 Treyc Cohen - 83,320 Wagner - 81,062

  7. Re: X-Factor I think the problem for Aiden are the very difficult songs he gets aswell though. His last 3 songs have been absolute smash hits in their day and well on Diamonds are Forever I thought he was one of the best performances in the competition so far.

  8. Re: X-Factor I think there are two sepearte divisions. In my opinion the likes of Cher, Aiden, Matt, Rebecca and One Direction are more popular with the audience and also seen as more talented. They will be the final five most likely. Until that, we have to guess who out of Paije, Katie, Treyc, Wagner and Mary as to who will go. I think in some ways it all depends on the staging and song choice as to who of the lot will be put up. I mean for instance I can hardly think Katie is to blame for being given a song/performance exactly the same for 2 weeks running and despite it that is probably why she was up this week. I dont think Cher is the best in the competition, but she finally proved a point this week that she can just stand there and sing. I do actually think at some points it was shaky as she didnt quite hit some notes which was expected. Simon and co. obviously seem to have made her their favourite little girl and have not said a bad word of her yet (apart from Danni). I mean when they asked Simon Cowell who was the star of the show he said Cher I thought what an arse. I know its all about opinion, but considering they were similar performances in version I thought Rebecca Ferguson absolutely smashed it. She turned a world class love song into her own version while Cher didnt really make the Shakespearean sisters song into her own, but did do well. Still my bet would be with Matt. For the chop next week it is with Mary.

  9. Re: X-Factor Well going by youtube hits Cher would have been a very good bet to win this and after her last performance... the 11s you could have taken on her before seem massive now. That said based on overall it should still be Matt or Rebecca to win it though Matt was not that great this week. Rebecca was great. Aiden sang really well I thought this week, just the only problem is he changed a great upbeat tempo song like Thriller too much into his own version. Should have chosen a different song.

  10. Re: X-Factor The youtube thing was interesting. This week so far views per song on the ITV.com x factor videos Week 3 Matt Cardle (7/4) - Hit Me Baby One More Time - 451.043 Cher Lloyd (12/1) - No Diggity/Shout - 425.053 One Direction (3/1) - Nobody Knows - 212.445 Treyc Cohen (50/1) - Purple Rain - 177.393 Rebecca Ferguson (5/1) - Why Don't You Do It Right - 169.511 Katie Waissel (33/1) - King Of The Swingers - 164.985 Aiden Grimshaw (16/1) - Diamonds are Forever - 149.305 Paije Richardson (75/1) - Ain't Nobody - 117.862 Mary Byrne (16/1) - I Who Have Nothing - 106.385 Belle Amie (125/1) - I'll Stand By You - 94.536 Wagner (35/1) - Spice Up Your Life/Livin La Vida Loca - 88.392 Why is Wagner 35/1 by the way? he was 100/1 before now he is 35/1... is there a conspiracy for him to win? :D Judging by the youtube hits then Cher is definitely better than her price suggests even if I personally do not like her. She will go far. Surprised to see Treyc so far up in the youtube views and was up for eviction which either suggets not to pay much attention to this or that she is everybody's 2nd or 3rd fave musician, but not fave :D Next elimination odds: Belle amie 2/1 Wagner 9/2 Paije 5/1 Treyc 15/2 Katie 17/2 Cher 25/1 Aiden 25/1 Mary 40/1 Becca 66/1 One Direction 100/1 Matt Cardle 125/1 I really hope Wagner goes, but judging by his price slash on the winners odds it may be best to vote for either Belle Amie or Paije... who is actually a good price to leave at 5/1. All the girls still there, so maybe with tactical voting and a possibility that Treyc or Katie could be up again one of them could be a decent bet too. However I think both can grow into the competition and deserve another week or two ahead of those like Wagner or Belle Amie.

  11. Re: X-Factor Along with Matt I thought Aiden's version of Diamonds are Forever was quite phenomenal. Them 2 plus Rebecca for me are the 3 best singers in the competition, but we know it doesnt matter just about that> Cher looks likely to go far because some people like her. I hope Wagner goes next week really.

  12. Re: UEFA Champions League > Tuesday 19th October Milan is the value bet of the day. If you see Milan to win at Madrid are the same price or better as Shaktar Donestk to win Arsenal you should be able to see my point whether or not you really consider the Italians a possibility to win. AC Milan are 11/2 with Sporting Bet which is a blinding price for me. A slip up on their second game of the season, but since then they have been playing very well and have the ability to trouble any defence with the options in attack. They give up chances too, but they were even weaker in this respect last year and won 3-2 in Madrid. Of course there is the Mourinho factor, but being honest apart from this weekend they have hardly dazzled La Liga so far and it will take time for Mourinho to get the best out of a great group. Even still just in terms of the value, I doubt you will get 11/2 on Milan many times through out the year, so that is the bet.

  13. Re: X-Factor I don't think she has any chance of winning it, but in terms of talent Katie is easily up there with the names being branded about (especially One Direction and Aiden). The problem for her, and why she will never win it is because alot of viewers see her as extremely arrogant from her first few auditions and most people are upset it was her who took the place of Gamu. However, the last two performances of hers (last Sunday's saver and Saturdays 2nd week) have been as good as any I have heard in the competition maybe apart from Rebecca or Matt. John is very good aswell, if Mary is being branded about I see no reason why John should be quoted at 40/1, but the problem for him in comparison to Mary is he doesnt have Louie licking his arse and he is not Irish like Mary, so that immediately downgrades his chances. Anyway all in all the last 2 should be Matt and Rebecca. Hopefully the talentless Cher goes soon. Being fair to her she tries something new, but it really does not work, she needs to get back to basics with a similar performance to audition 1 to get back in with a serious chance. Still she has an attitude that alot of people (especially girls) seem to like from what I understand, and that will keep her in for a few more weeks no matter how she performs. Next week to go has to be Wagner for sure, he just talks in a foreign accent through his performances. When criticised for this last week by Danni (the only judge who so far has bothered to even do what her job entails, and judge the performances not lick the arses of the contestants) he said he can't help that he is foreign, well surely the viewers can and should kick him off he is not going to sing but talk his way through. Then I can see the other bottom two being Belle Amie again and Paije (considering Simon has just 1 group left I can see a fix occuring and judges keeping Belle Amie again which I dont mind as at least I get to see 4 sorts on the show for another week).

  14. Golf 7/10 - 10/10: Dunhill Links Championship and The McGladrey Classic Any tips around? My passion for golf has lit up again with that incredible Ryder Cup. Here are mine, specifically for the Dunhill Links Championship. I am going to try and avoid any participants of the incredible Ryder Cup. Mental fatigue more than anything else aswell as physical fatigue (from partying through the night) could well be a factor the guys. Obviously there is the chance for any of them to still do well and be right at the top, but by Sunday I would be amazed if they still have the cutting edge to play their best golf and win this championship. For this reason I am picking a couple of others. Most notably Retief Goosen 2 pts each way @ 18/1 with Stan James Proven player around the Englush links courses. Has to be right up there and should be right in contention by the end of this tournament. Robert Karlsson 1 pt each way @ 40/1 with various Won this tournament in 2008 and even though his immediate form has not been in anything great, he did do well at the USPGA championship and once again is proven on such courses. Also playing with Goosen tomorrow so can lift his game for that. Onto the 2 balls prices. Here are my tips for them: Marcel Siem 2 pts @ 6/4 to beat Danny Willett with bet365 Just out of pure value thatis a cracking price. Willeet maybe the better golfer overall, but in July/August Siem was playing some fantastic golf (also finishing 7th in Gleneagles), while Willett has only really impressed at the Austrian Open where there was definitely a lack of the best golfers. Any other tips and views would be appreciated.

  15. Re: UEFA Champions League > 17th - 18th August Sampdoria to win away to Werder Bremen (Draw no bet) @ 3/1 with Coral Yeah ok its a bit of an outside shot, but with Ozil just going to Madrid and the possible distractions this move could have caused the home team, I think there is value in the price of Sampdoria. This is a team who also won away to Roma last season, and have virtually the same team as that playing in Bremen. Of course, the Germans will be favourites, but given all the distractions of the past week you have to give a shot to Samp. A draw is a possibility too given its the first leg, and so its worth doing draw no bet.
