  1. Re: Sweden v England - June 15 England to win this. Taken 2.5 at Betfair. The history means nothing. All I have heard is England are yet to beat Sweden in a competitive international.... so what? Unless it is the same players, same managers, same tactics etc, this means nothing! Sweden have one player who would get into the English side, in my opinion. The rest are second rate. I think this tournament is currently unbalanced. There are 2 really poor groups, and 2 really strong ones. This group is weak. Sweden are not the side they were a few years ago. England, with a more attacking line up should be far too strong for Sweden

  2. Re: Ukraine v France - June 15 Just taken France at 2.08 on Betfair. Ukraine are very average, and I don't believe they can stop Ribery, Benzema and Nasri, who really impressed me against England. Logging in I was expecting odds-on for France her, so am happy to take these odds! Ukraine are probably the weakest team in the tournament. But for a mad ten minutes by Sweden, they would have lost their opening game, not won it.

  3. Re: France - Ligue 2 - 16-17 September

Been away from the threads a couple of weeks but will look to get back into the swing of it today. Nine matches tonight in Ligue 2 - I'll have a big interest in a third of that. Angers v Amiens - Angers -0.75AH @ 1.952 with Pinnacle 4/10 Amiens are one of the sides I have pencilled in for relegation. I took Lens against them on Monday night and although they put up a fight, it appeared to me that they are too flimsy in defence to keep the better sides out in this division. Yoann Touzghar looks a threat up front but defenders like ex-Angevin Thomas Mienniel and Pascal Lybohy just seem too error prone. Angers are a side that kick-started their season last week with a very convincing 3-1 win away at Monaco. New manager Stephan Moulin has worked out how to get goals out of Gaetan Charbonnier, who looks confident and in good form. It's also the midfield where they look stronger than Amiens. There's more creativity with Diego Gomez, the top assist scorer in the league, and Vincent Manceau pulling the strings. I expect them to push on after that fine win in the Principality. They also have the bonus of three days extra rest, considering Amiens played on Monday in a big match, and that could also have an effect. Guingamp v Troyes - Troyes +0.5AH @ 2.03 with Pinnacle 2/10 I find this market very odd. EAG have done nothing to suggest that they should be this big against Troyes. Traditionally, Guingamp have been a strong home side, but this year they've already dropped points to teams like Metz and Chateauroux. I'd put Troyes in that sort of category. Jean-Marc Furlan has assembled a handy enough squad, who are relatively strong across all areas of the pitch and have experience. The signing of Raphael Caceres, who scored the winner last week at home to Bastia, allows Furlan to be a bit more offensive and push a further attacker up beside Marcos dos Santos. ESTAC went to Laval a few weeks ago and kept les Tangos quiet. They don't win that many games away from the Aube but they are capable of taking something here. I've not been overly impressed so far with Guingamp. Their biggest problem has been in defence. Bakary Kone was the mainstay of the side and since his departure to Lyon, they've not been the same. I expect them to be the main protagonists in this match but they aren't bombproof by any means, and at odds-on I'm happy to oppose them with a smaller stake. Tours v Istres - Tours -0.5AH @ 1.833 with Pinnacle 5/10 This is a very winnable match for Tours. They are always a very offensive side at home and have the players capable of hurting a side like Istres, who have struggled this year now that Gary Coulibaly, Florian Lejeune and Mamadou Doumbia have left the club. I don't see signs of them being watertight enough at the back to keep sides out on the road. This is a new chapter for Tours after their main striker, Abraham Guie Guie, left for Nice. To be honest, he's not really hit the heights of his first six months in France last season, and arguably Jeremy Blayac and Titi Buengo can forge just as profitable a partnership. They were a little unlucky last week at Le Havre but on their own patch, Peter Zeidler's men ought to be too strong for Istres. They have the necessary firepower and I think Thomas Gamiette and Julien Cardy are able to win the midfield battle. Istres were an inconvienient team last season but as recent defeats on the road show (1-3 at Angers, 1-3 at Bastia, 0-1 at Guingamp), they are struggling. Home win for me in this one. Bonne chance a tous :ok
Probably get into trouble for posting this here, but wanted to say what a great write up this is. For those of us with limited knowledge on the French 2nd tier, this kind of stuff is invaluable. I shall be taking this treble :ok
  4. Re: UEFA Europa League > 24th - 26th August Trabzonspor V Liverpool - pick Trabzonspor 2.87 @ Bet365 I'm surprised by the high odds on Trabzonspor tonight. Trabzon is a very difficult, hostile place to go to, and Liverpool go there without arguably their 3 best players. Torres, Mascherano and Gerrard will all be missing tonight. Liverpool should have got the job done last week at Anfield, and I think will pay the price for that tonight. For those feeling a little more adventurous Trabzonspor to qualify is available at 3.75 Bet365. This again seems very generous for a side only having to overturn a 1-0 deficit. I worry though that they didnt score an away goal, and if Liverpool sneak one, a 2-1 win will not be enough for the Turks. I'm therefore playing it safe, with a straight win on the night. ____________ "As always, good luck everyone, whoever you back (unless it's Leeds' opponents)"

  5. Re: UEFA > Champions League > 24th - 25th August

So you would take spurs for 1.01? And not take young boys for 1000? Because that is what you are saying. You are basically saying that you suck at punting. Value is everything' date=' and there is [b']nothing else to look for. Which of these two mindsets do you think is better? 1. OMG I THENK SPURZ WILL WIN SO I TAEK DEM FOR WHAT EVER SHIT PRICE LOL!!!!! 2. I think Spurs have at least 75% probability to win, so I'll take them for 1.33 or higher. Theres your head reading.
Well thank you Nioreh for giving me a head reading. Really found it useful. What rediculous points you make. Of course I wouldn't take Spurs at 1.01. I suck at punting? Thanks for that, given you know nothing about me or my years of football gambling. You think high prices and value are everything in gambling? That sir, is basically greed, and I've seen many people fall by having their heads turned by long odds. I'm on Spurs tonight, a ton for a modest £25 profit. I'll gamble my way, you gamble yours.
  6. Re: UEFA > Champions League > 24th - 25th August

i think anyone who backs a side @ 1.2 after watching the 1st game needs there head testing. ok i'll admit that spurz should go through... but young boys could have scored 6 or 7 and thats not exagerating. my take on this game is that it will be over in 10 mins or spurs will go home. a value bet would be over 1.5 goals in the 1st half @ 2.24 on betfair.
Maybe I need my head reading then, but I'll be backing Spurs to win, 1.25@ Bet365. It may not seem 'value', but I don't look just for value. I consider what I think the outcome will be, and then look up the odds afterwards. This has Spurs written all over it! Their strikers are back, and at White Hart Lane they have been a match for anybody for a couple years now. Spurs will also have the momentum, having been down and out at one stage last week. That was when Young Boys had the chance to bury them, and they didnt take it. The Swiss side have also made a less than impressive start to their domestic season too, and I see no reason at all to back them tonight. Spurs escaped from jail last week. Now, in front of a packed Lane crowd, live on TV, on a GRASS pitch, they will have far too much quality for Young Boys over 90 minutes. This to me is an easy £25 win.
  7. Re: UEFA Europa League 8th of April Once again some very tough matches in Europe tonight. I have a strong feeling that Wolfsburg will do enough to knock Fulham out. However, it will be a lot closer than some are predicting. Contrary to some comments, Wolfsburg do not have a great home record in the Bundesliga, losing at home 7 times this season. It is true that Fulham are poor on their travels also. I see Wolfsburg winning in 90 minutes, but there may well be extra time in this one. My first tip is therefore Wolfsburg to win in 90 mins @ 1.67 (coral) The other bet I am confident with tonight is both teams to score in the all spanish tie. Both teams are very poor defensively. Yes, it is true that Atletico only need a clean sheet to qualify, but I think there is very little chance of that. Valencia travel to the capital needing to score, and with impressive attacking talent in their ranks, I can see them doing this at least twice. With Aguero and Forlan upfront for Atletico, they have plenty of goals in them, and are likely to take advantage of the weak Valencia back-line. I am therefore going for both teams to score @ 1.5 (coral) I am undecided whether to include Liverpool at the moment, will continue to give it some thought. I was looking at them to win over 90 mins @ 1.62 (coral) but will hold fire and see what others think on this very evenly balanced game. Wolfsburg to win in 90 mins & both teams to score in Spain pays a very nice looking 2.5 as a double.

  8. Re: Champions League 7th of April I am not writing Man Utd off simply because Rooney isn't playing. That would be naive. I'm writing them off tonight because they haven't been that good all season. They are a shadow of last years team, without Ronaldo and Tevez. Utd have a history of struggling against German teams in two-legged matches. Since the turn of the year, Bayern have won away at Schalke, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. This is a team that may not be spectacular, but is certainly not as weak at the back as others on here are making out. Indeed, they have the second best defensive record in the Bundesliga. Therefore, Ive not read anything yet to sway me from my Bayern to win or draw bet @ evens.

  9. Re: Champions League 7th of April Howdy all, Thought I would join up and start offering opinions and tips, rather than just read everyone else's. Found this site about a month ago, very informative. I've profited almost a grand in two weeks, not just from tips from this site, but it's certainly helped. Im leaving Bordeaux v Lyon well alone tonight. This really is a game that could go either way. Yes, Bordeaux have to win, and win well, but this will create chances for Lyon to hit them on the break. The first leg was a perfect display in how not to defend, and this game tonight could be very similar. In the other tie, my feeling is that Utd will crash out of Europe tonight. I just feel that Bayern have hit a good run of form domestically, and winning in the Allianz Arena against Utd will give them the confidence to get the job done at Old trafford. As has already been stated, with Robben and Ribery on the flanks, and Olic the likely starter upfront, this is tailored made for a fast and effective counter-attacking side. Robben has been in fine form this season, similar to his early days at Chelsea. The fact that Bayern only need a draw to qualify gives me concerns about betting on a Bayern win. Im going to be getting on Bayern win or draw @evens with coral and various others. Good luck to all! "Money won is twice as sweet as money earned"
