  1. Re: UEFA Champions League > Semi-Final 2nd Leg > Tuesday 24 April

One point I would make' date=' where I feel the 'pundits' have been misleading, is the general held belief that the larger pitch at the Camp Nou will make it easier for Barca to find gaps and more difficult for Chelsea to defend as they did in the first leg. Stamford Bridge pitch is 103 x 67 metres where as at Nou Camp it is 105 x 68 metres, so hardly any difference at all, think this misconception comes from the camera angles at the grounds, Chelsea's is fairly close to the pitch and low down so it appears quite tight, the Nou Camp is so huge the camera is in quite a birds eye position so the pitch appears bigger.[/quote'] It looks not much difference in figures maybe but when you're out on the pitch a few metres difference, the whole length and breadth of the pitch is very significant IMO.
  2. Re: Everton v Chelsea > Sat 11 Feb

An interest stat for this game is that in both sides that 4 games they have had 3 draws. Everton is a difficult place to go and Chelsea will probably be happy to leave Goodison Park with a draw. Especially as Everton beat Man City the other week. I predict a definate Everton result with a Draw most likely.
Everton have a very good chance, though I've got Chelski in a treble with United and Arsenal so I hope they lose. I disagree about Chelsea being happy with the draw though, they'll be desperate for the 3pts. If they play to their maximum they'll win......but that's a big if!
  3. Re: Man Utd v Liverpool > Sat 11 Feb

After the impressive comeback the Red Devils had last week at Stamford Bridge I believe that their motivation will be very high when they play their arch rivals. Man.United in general have a good record at Old Trafford and rarely drop points here. Liverpool lost during their last 3 trips to Old Trafford and with Man.United chasing Man.City I don't see any other outcome rather than a home win. Man.United @ 1.91 (5 units) William Hill
I agree and badly need them to win myself! But...........this blessed game is just a lottery by and large, who on earth believed BLACKBURN would win at United! :eek They're far superior to Liverpool IMO, hopefully that counts for something tomorrow.
  4. Re: England: Premier Nov 26-27

Going for draw/draw for Stoke and Blackburn. For some reason I always have the impression early kick-offs are dull games without much goal-mouth action. I have no stats to back this up but it always seems to me that the crowd are not as up for it neither the players so early. Also fancy Spurs to beat West Brom and Sunderland to beat Wigan - maybe a cheeky double there if the draw/draw on Stoke and Blackburn wins. Though the odds are not the best at double your money. My friend fancies a few draws this weekend - he reckons 2 matches out of Norwich/QPR, Sunderland/Wigan and Bolton/Everton will be a draw.
I dunno, Rovers v Arsenal was 5-2, they beat Norwich 2-1 early doors last week. I genuinely think a lot more to do with team capabilities than kick off times. I think Spurs might come a cropper, I got nothing to base that on mind. Praying Sunderland can win for a change. They really are terrible for such a big club, surely they'll beat sorry Wigan!!!!
  5. Re: EURO 2012 Qualifiers: Friday 3 June

INCREDIBLE! This the same side who were losing AT HOME to the mighty FAROE ISLANDS last August. What price do you suppose that would have been put up as? 15-1 to FI? Well Estonia rallied and scored 2 in injury time to beat FI 2-1. Football is crazy sometimes. I can't see Italy failing to win this one though.
  6. Re: EURO 2012 Qualifiers: Friday 3 June What are your thoughts on Italy v Estonia? I know the Italians are a bit of an enigma but I can see them bossing this game from the off. A tiny country like Estonia will struggle to make much headway away from home IMO. Gonna have a crack at the half time/full time market with Italy, Italy. Priced around 1/2. It's a market that can burn your fingers regularly but for this game I expect 45 mins of solid Italian pressure first half, Estonia will struggle to get a pizza the action!!!:hope

  7. Re: UEFA > Champions League > 24th - 25th August had a little goals treble. Villa race to 2 goals AEK Athens race to 2 goals Man City race to 3 goals got just over 3/1 odds for it, don't think that's bad!:hope Villa may be a little dodgy, and that's coming from a massive Villa fan! I can't see Dundee standing up to Athens away surely not? The Mancs should cruise it.

  8. Re: UEFA Europa League 8th of April

I wouldn't touch the Liverpool to qualify personally. As we seen yesterday in the champions league, United won but didnt go through, there is always the possibility that Benfica do lose but go through on away goals. I would think the safer option would be to back Liverpool to win instead if you are keen on them to qualify. As far as Fulham goes, they have been very poor like you said away from home, but with Zamora rested for this fixture, I still would fancy them to get atleast a goal with the form he is in. That being said Wolfsburg will come into this game feeling tired from their 4-2 win over whichever team at the weekend. As far as I know, they didn't rest any players but I do fancy them to go on to win this game 2-1, whether they will qualify or not is a different question. I would back Wolfsburg to win, instead of them to qualify. Hope this helps :ok
thanks my decision to look at the qualification market was probably motivated by GREED more than anything else! HA! Having looked at the odds I'd only earn £15 less with the stake I'm putting down just backing the home wins so yeah I think I might do it. It at least offsets a disaster where pool win but go out on away goals.
  9. Re: UEFA Europa League 8th of April I'm seriously considering a biggish double. 1. Wolfsberg to qualify 2. Liverpool to qualify I believe Wolfsberg will win by a couple of goals quite comfortably, just a hunch I have. Fulham are pretty shocking away from home. I'm certainly no underestimating Benfica, I placed a 3 figure sum on the beating Liverpool in the first leg on with draw no bt. However, contrary to their dire league position I still really rate Liverpool's football. AWESOME against Sunderland 2 weeks ago, unlucky to lose at OT and they should've scored at least 4 against Bham at the weekend. I'm expecting another famous Anfield night! Benfica should also be a little more tired what with playing Monday night away and also having to travel to England. Your thoughts please. It pays out roughly 2/1 :)

  10. Re: Champions League 31st of March

I've had a pop at the Double Chance Market: Got a double on: 1) Inter or X 2) Arsenal or X Stuck a fairly big sum on, combined odds workout around 4/5. Obviously Arsenal is the one in the lap of the God's, I just feel it's about time they came of age. Hopefully tonight's the night! Inter should be at least good enough to achieve a draw...........Hope I don't regret saying that! Does anybody play the double chance market, I find it quite profitable, though you generally have to have quite a big accy on it to make £ unless you're sticking obscene amounts on bankers.
wooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo a comeback I can scarcely believe! :cash

  12. Re: UEFA Europa League » Oct 22

Celtic vs Hamburg Advice: 10pts on Celtic (+0) AH @ 2.16 Ladbrokes This is a massive massive price for Celtic at home. Ok, they haven’t been too impressive so far this season but I can’t put the blame on Mowbray who actually has the team playing some good football, the blame simply must go on Mr McDonald and Samaras who just can’t seem to hit the net. Hamburg beat Hapoel 4-2 at home in their last Europa fixture but were previously thumped 3-0 away at Rapid Vienna. Celtic lost away at Hapoel and were unlucky only to draw 1-1 with Vienna as they were the better team whereas Rapid were happy to sit back and soak up the pressure. Hamburg certainly won’t do that here and this is all set to be a very open game in my opinion. Andreas Hinkel returns for the Bhoys and that is a massive plus although Danny Fox is set to miss out. Hamburg are without several players for this tie and I simply can’t have them as favourites playing at Parkhead. A must win game for Celtic and if McDonald & Samaras have their shooting boots on, I believe they can do it.
I really like the celtic price, think i'll be backing em tommo. feet up watch it itv 4 and count my cash hopefully!:D
  13. Re: Poker for a beginner Hi ive really started getting into the game over the last three weeks. Been playing online on play money tables four time now. Lost a lot first two goes but im now doing well. Went to table with 250 yesterday and left with 253 after an hours play. Today I went to table with 253 and came away with 402 again after an hour! :) One question, why is a pot shared sometimes? I was on partypoker. I had a pair of aces and somebody else had flush ace high. They got $47.50 and i got 44.50 after the river? :( Surely all the money shouldve gone to them?? I'm hardly an expert but my own opinion from the limited time ive been playing is that if you want to win money then you've got to lay down good hands even if you heart says no. ie (Folding on the river with KK and a Q kicker if the cards suggest somebody has got even better!) Cheers for all the good advice, watching it on tv is helping massively.

  14. Hi, I've used a couple of poker tutorials on the net biut think these are really geared to sucking you in. ie You end up winning. Think I'm learning the basics but can anybody recommend me a book and or a cd rom to teach me how to play the game? Think I'm gonna do some more work on my own with playing cards and try to simulate a game this way before i go online. thanks

  15. Re: Poker for a beginner Thanks for all the useful info everyone! :clap ive learnt a lot already. One last question concerning the technical reliability of online poker. By this I mean has anybody ever had a nightmare where they are involved in a game with money at stake and either their computer or the software malfunctions leaving them unable to play the game and thus somebody else wins the pot despite you holding a royal flush:notworthy:crywell a winning hand at least. I don't mean an internet connection being cut off, not really an issue in the days of broadband, but a type of "this computer is not responding" kind of problem etc. I imagine this is a of course a very rare occurance but has anybody been on the receiving end of it? Should I make sure my computer is in tip top condition before embarking on online poker/

  16. Re: Poker for a beginner Well Ive done a little bit of reading on the web with the links. Still feel a little bit daumted by it all - masses of things to learn! Ive never even played a conventional game with a set of playing cards so I think knowing the combos and how stakes are placed and when will be my first big task. Is their a preferred site to play on? How do I search for freerolls?

  17. I'm about to make an effort to ingratiate myself into the world of online poker? I know sod all about the game, I've got 2 packs of cards and a book on gambling to get me started att he mo. :nana I'm gonna really do the research before I risk my hard earned money, not gonna play for real for at least 3 months. Can anybody give me some advice on getting upto speed? Is it possible to make a consistent monthly profit online? Best site to play at? Tactics? Good books? Etc. Cheers and happy xmas

  18. Re: Scoop 6 Question I've never played scoop 6, can anybody tell me where the days six races and runners are published? I doesn't seem to be marketed very well IMO. Also, I've seen the coupon for this bet in Ladbrokes, does the print out that you get back show your horses and races on it? Thank you

  19. Re: If this loses I QUIT

100% dissagree The pressure would have been greater after the N.Ireland match compared to anything he will get after the World Cup. Even if it is a poor show by England The FA are always slow in making choices and nothing will be done untill after the World Cup
I can't agree with that bud! If we go out in the 2nd round or quarters it'll be Turnip head times x 100. I can see The Sun cartoon now. Sven, Ulrika, Faria, Nancy and the rest of his tarts in a four poster bed. Nancy says "Hargreaves has got nice curly hair pick him sven." "Okay my darling" replies Sven. :wall Now I'm going off topic. I'm very tempted to whack a 3 figure sum on this bet. I don't get why Hills are offering this price! :unsure The way I see it the punter has a lot in his favour. 1) England have a stormer. Get to semis or the final 2) We do okay and sven stays on. 3) We do disasterously but Sven is still gaffer when the Brazilians lift the cup.
