  1. Re: Ante-Post > Championship Promotion 2014/15

They've lost Jean Beausejour (35 league apps/2 league goals)' date=' Jordi Gomez (33/7) and Nick Powell (31/7) from last season so far, looks like quite a lot of quality (and goals) taken out of that side.[/quote'] Beausejour is not a great loss, especially with Andrew Taylor from Cardiff coming in. Taylor Sinclair turned down Celtic and Aberdeen to move to Wigan, a very young and dynamic full back. Tavernier er from new castle has signed. I think the goals from Gomez and Powell will easily be replaced. They signed riera from osasuna, who scored 13 goals in la liga, including 2 vs Real Madrid in a 2-2 draw. Don cowie, another shrewd signing, he's done it with Cardiff, and huws on loan from man city, a young exciting player.
  2. Re: Ante-Post > Premier League 2014/15 Winner I think people are reading too much into utd finishing 7th. That was simply Down to moyes being a poor uninspiring manager. The year before they won it, and have added a world class manager, shaw and Herrera already, with the spending ongoing. That with no European football, gives utd a huge edge

  3. Re: Ante-Post > Premier League 2014/15 Relegation

Sunderland @ 6.0 Skybet (1 point) I think the Mackems could be in for another tough season and at the price I think they are worth chancing on to finally drop down. They looked doomed for long periods of last season before finally pulling out of danger towards the end of the season. Poyet did a decent enough job but he's going to have to do it all over again. They haven't been very active in the transfer market yet either. Having lost Bardsley and Colback to rivals on free transfers they've so far brought in Pantimillion in goal and Billy Jones in defence who I'm not convinced is a better option than the outgoing Bardsley. Having agreed a ludicrous 14m fee for Borini there is speculation he doesn't want to go but that remains to be seen. Even if he does go they are Only adding a player who was there last season anyway so in reality are only trading water. They also had Ki on loan from Swansea and its unclear whether they will get him back which is someone else who will need replacing. So potentially from last season they will have lost Bardsley, Ki, Colback and Borini. All 4 fairly key players last season and they all need replacing with equally as good players just to be at the same level they were at last season which was a struggle. There are a few teams in the mix at the bottom who could be in for really tough seasons but Sunderland are the ones who really stand out at the price. Whilst some of the other bottom sides are going out and making some good signings, Sunderland look to be regressing if anything at the moment. There is still plenty of time for Poyet to make some good additions but I can't see their price getting any longer. And if they do fail to attract anty decent replacements I expect them to shorten quite sharply.
Totally agree with this, and to add to this sunder lands best player was Johnson, only had a good season as he was playing for a World Cup spot. I doubt you'll see the same drive this season. Losing Ki is massive as he creates. Long season for Sunderland, who have also lost a bit of bite in cater mole and Gardner.
  4. Re: Ante-Post > Premier League 2014/15 Relegation As a villa fan, I can see why people mention us as relegation, but I am optimistic. Joe Cole is a good signing, he was class in Lille just over a year ago, and was never going to fit in west ham under alladyce, as joe likes to play football not hoof. Other positive factors, Okore is back, who looks a class act, and should bring the best out of Vlaar, who has been paired with Baker or Clark, both useless. Senderos won't be used and is back up. With benteke back, and Kozak, and with bent back and looking sharp, we'll get goals. I see a good year for us!

  5. Re: Ante-Post > Premier League 2014/15 Relegation

Everton did well last year based on home form, away form average. H W13 D3 L3 A W8 D6 L6. First seven games listed below Leicester (A) Arsenal (H) Chelsea (H) West Brom (A) Palace (H) Liverpool (A) Man Utd (A) They could easily lose 4 of those games and maybe 1 win and a couple of draws. They are a big price to go down at the moment, but can see that cutting fast. I will look to back them now and lay on betfair if the price gets low enough to made a decent profit. Everton to be relegated 250/1 @stan james
    are you for real?!
  6. Re: Ante-Post > Premier League 2014/15 Winner Can City strengthen to meet the fair play criteria though? Not sure how it works to be honest. Agree with you on Chelsea, I think if Costa joins it will be the final piece of the jigsaw, and I expect a big year from Schurrle who I rate highly. I think utd hold value, van gaal won the Dutch, German, and Spanish leagues in his first year in charge which bodes well. They will certainly bring in and attract big players, he will get the best out of the current crop, and even more so, no Europe to focus on, so all eggs in one basket.

  7. Re: World Cup 2014 > Outright Betting I think Brazil are being talked up too much personally. I also think being the favourites and on home soil they will crack under pressure. I think Argentina, to win it on Brazils turf is a bigger incentive enough, plus with the squad, and even more so the attacking options they have, I can see them blitzing teams away. Spain are ones to watch also, they finally have a world class striker in Costa and the heat will suit them. Spanish teams have dominated both European comps this year.

  8. Re: FA Cup Final > Manchester City v Wigan Athletic > Sat 11th May i will put every penny and my mortgage on city outright @ 1/5 with skybet. Wigan, come the 11th may, will be exhausted, and by then feeling sorry for themselves after being relegated. Mancini will want to finish on a high with his position of manager being talked about, so a trophy which he has won before will be high on his agenda. Other than the obvious, gulf in class, larger squad, city more fresh, you wont find a bigger banker!

  9. Re: The Masters 13-20 Jan I think the 13/8 on offer for graeme dott to beat maguire is pretty tasty. head to head maguire shades it 5-4, although in major tournaments in recent years, Dott has beaten his opponent 5-2 in the german masters and notably 13-6 in the world championships in the last couple of years.

  10. Re: EURO 2012 - Outright Winner & Top Goalscorer I have backed Ribery at 50/1 with skybet. Bit of an outside bet, reasoning is France are in form, have a settled squad with no media headlines this year, Ribery after having a dreadful 12 to 18 months replied with a great season for Munich domestically and in europe, he takes the penalties for France, and can see them going far scoring goals.

  11. Re: Next Aston Villa manager Southgate no chance, we hate him down the villa! Your right though, we need a manager who has respect, a fresh start and take us forward again. McCarthy is asking for trouble like McLeish did. Ranieri is the man for the job, and with him saying he would be interested, worth a punt.

  12. Re: Next Aston Villa manager It wont be McCarthy. After the backlash of appointing a moron who got our local rivals relegated last year Learner will not make the same mistake again. He has already said he needs a manager to please the fans. I also dont expect Lambert or Martinez, as Learner paid Birmingham millions to get 'Eck and no doubt a fortune to sack him. Id look at a manager perhaps without a job, that will be accepted. AVB, ranieri, Di Matteo at chelsea may have a big shift in price after Munich.

  13. Re: England > Midweek > Barclays Premier League > 20-22 December for those backing arsenal i would be a bit cautious. Changes are being made, cuellar is coming into central defence which is long overdue. And also young cieran clark in centre midfield. This will freshen things up for us, and clark has the potential to be a star, keeping hold of him will be a struggle. Another plus is bent and heskey out. As daft as it sounds being without bent, i think it will work out for the best. Agbonlahor is back and expected to start on his own up front. His best spell for villa was the 2 years he played alone under o'neill. He relishes this role rather than the holding role and with nzogbia and albrighton (granted not as good as young or downing) can supply. Im not saying arsenal wont win, just dont take it as a banker for granted.

  14. Re: UEFA Champions League > Tuesday 1st November two singles for me stand out arsenal to score 2 + they've had their problems earlier in the season, but i think some of the new signings are starting to settle, injured players are returning and as a team starting to look strong again. Id back van persie to score 2+ at the minute let alone arsenal. I dont think marseille will offer a lot tonight and therefore have a lot of the ball, and with confidence at scoring 5, RVP, Gervinho, Walcott etc id expect them to be goal hungry tonight. 8/11 with skybet for the same reasons im taking arsenal to win outright 8/13, altho im wary of the handicap as i dont 100% trust arsenals defence yet

  15. Re: England > Weekend > Premier League > 17-18 September

i do love the comments about the negativity about our (QPR) strikeforce and the fact we wont score enough goals so far this season we have scored 1 goal in 4 games, match against Norwich's 3 and Swansea's 0, however take this into account Bolton 0:4 Bothroyd and DJ made thier debuts, 2nd half was a washout after bolton took control Everton 1:0 we scored with our only shot on goal but started the game with 1 up front - the prolific Agyemang who isnt even in our 25 man squad now Wigan 0:2 again only 1 up front with Agymang again, we hit the post twice and the bar once Newcastle 0:0 we started with 1 up front again and should really have scored, had 2 hacked off the line for me the goals will come from SWP, Taraabt, Bothroyd and Campbell. I think even Barton will pick up a few. One of Neil warnocks traits is to keep clean sheets, we had 25 last season and won 9 away games to nil, not many teams could match that.
but last season was the championship. a much bigger step up the premier league as you no. i think SWP and taraabt are good players and will create chances, but i cant see either bothroyd or campbell getting double figures. im not having a go at QPR as i like them being a proper traditional club, unlike the hull's, wigans of this world who shouldnt be anywhere near the premier league. I would even go as far as saying bothroyd is the worst striker in the league, how he gets paid to be a footballer i do not know. I want QPR to stay up and enjoyed watching them monday night, so dont think its a personal dig, just stressing the point they will struggle to score
