  1. Stop messing around gents and stick your house on the Blades to turn over Rochdale   :ok

Dale are without a number of players through injury

Keith Hill threatening to put out the kids

Although Dale are quite strong at home, their form has been well let's say inconsistant of late. No wins last 6 with just 3 draws

Probably not as clear cut as the above suggests, but nevertheless, the Blades have the best team in league 1 (and I should know) and the best squad (strong bench) As we all know though, football is unpredictable or we'd all be rich, but 5/6 represents value in my book

As a side note, Billy Sharp is the leagues top scorer (23) so 5/6 anytime scorer could also be value. If not mistaken part of Dales injury list are first team defenders (thought I'd read this on their forum? ) They also have two first teamers serving bans today

    Good luck and UTB

  2. Re: Best bet of the day 8th May

Chester 4.35pm - Aureate I suppose on the face of it, doesn't seem like the one to go for. However, the booking of J. Fortune should not go unheeded This and the fact it is coupled with c&d win, which at Chester is a big bonus. He is also blinkered for the first time, which sometime means an improvement in running ( or a justification for a massive change of form and usually at a big price) The one negative I can see is he's only done the business on soft and std going and with good to firm forecast tomorrow, is a bit of a worry. 1pt E.W. 12/1 on Betfair and with only 8 runners paying 1-2-3 for a place he's worth a punt! and I would argue that he is better value than the 6/4 on offer for the fav. :hope

  4. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sat 2/5/09 Newm 3.10 - Delegator His turn of foot in a fast run race will see him through. Backed him numerous times ranging from 10/1 downwards. Meehan usually doesn't act bullish regards his horses, so I'm taking on board what he has to say this time. Take note fellas! :) The 200 Guineas is a bad race for favourites, producing only 1 winner from the last 15 races. Hoping R.V.W. will go off fav. If he doesn't and Delegator does, then records are meant to be broken! :ok Banker 2 point win!

  5. Re: Best bet of the day 30th April Hereford 4.05 - Naxox I'm taking a chance with this one, as I believe he may be running into form. Trained by Venetia Williams. He's 8 years old, but relatively lightly raced. Having only seen a racecourse 10 times, winning just the once on similar going and at the distance. He has to make up over 11 lengths last time out when 3rd of 11 to Huquenot, but meets him again with a 13ib pull for the beating, which on the face of it, doesn't seem enough. However, the fact I believe Naxox may be running into form, makes it my selection. I also like the claimer on board, W. Biddick Showing only 7/1 with Paddy Power, 10.5 on Betfair, whilst 10/1 with Bet365 1pt E.W. :hope I will be playing!

  6. Re: Best bet of the day 29th April

Ascot 15.20 - Don't Panic Well what can I say about this one? I backed it 6 times to win the Lincoln. I fancied him strongly. And despite the fact the blighter had refused to race on it's previous outing, went and repeated the feat at Doncaster. To say I was gutted, was an understatement. However, it remains to be seen if he would have beat the winner on the day, Expresso Star, as he won so well. The reasons I'm siding with it again, is firstly, I believe tomorrows race we'll actally see it come out the stalls, as he is tried in blinkers for the first time. He's won at the distance and on the going. He's possibly the outsider of the field, but I'm not going to let that put me off. He has run in listed company before, although he's not won in listed company. Trainer Chappell Hyam has managed 2 winners from 12 runners in the last fortnight, so whilst not on fire, he has hit the ground running, whilst Munro who's booked to ride Don't Panic, has had 4 winners in the last 14 days from 33 rides. He's a jockey I have time for. Showing 18 on Betfair (as I write) and 16/1 with Paddy Power. I have a hunch he may just bely his odds! Only 7 runners so 1pt win Betfair place price currently 6.4 so 0.5pt place as a saver :hope I would imagine this horse will be friendless in the market, so the price could be a false one. (Nothing like horses to make us look fools eh? )
Well, well, well! I can't believe he stopped in the stalls yet again! :$ :cry I wonder over the last 3 outings how many punters have lost their money without even getting a run? It's a joke really, Someone should be held accountable, or we should get our stake back. Surely, the trainer can't be allowed to keep entering him races that the horse isn't gonna take part in? There can only ever be one winner and it aint the punter!! Or am I just being bitter? :wall FOOTNOTE: I see another right turn up as well! Commentator called Perfect Stride the winner, even tho it was a photofinish and it did look to tight to call. Betfair were going 1/10 on Perfect Stride and yet low and behold......................General Elliot called the winner! A right body blow for Stoute/Ryan Moore backers.
  7. Re: Best bet of the day 28th April

Blader, As your still feeling your way around i'll allow your second selection. We are not being 'funny' with all the rules its just if we dont apply them then we have all sorts of arguments. We all have NR's and thats why we allow a second choice but the origional rules still stand, all selections must have reasoning, your first post didnt mention why Oddshoes should be backed, hence the remark by Samba. Also to my mind I wouldnt have thought your 'second best bet of the whole day' would be in the same race as your 'first best bet of the day' but thats just my opinion. Anyway a nice well backed winner, thats all that counts eh! and a 100% record so far!! All you need now is the blades to go up, 2 out of 3 aint bad I suppose;) P.S. My cousin used to play for the blades many years ago, Paul Garner, played full back.
Paul Garner! I used to watch him play in my younger days. Left back and a tidy little player. Always gave his all. Point taken regards selection. It was a genuine mistake regards reason (or no reason) for my choice. The reason I chose one from the same race is because that race ended up being the one I studied the most. So, knowing the original selection had ran the previous day, there was always a chance it would be withdrawn, as often they are. I had narrowed it down to those two and the logical choice was to susbstitute the non runner with my other fancy. Due to work commitments, I can't dedicate enough time to follow all races and all form, so I'm a bit selective. Anyways, thanks for the let off. I will be more careful. PS. The irony of football. Who would have thought we would be playing for a place in the prem, last game of the season against Neil Warnock. Doesn't football always throw up these little gems? I'm hoping by 3.15pm Sunday it will be plenty of............................:beerand more of .............................:cheers..........this.................:gimme...................and then..........................:zzz Although knowing the Blades, somehow I have to doubt it!!! :( Are you a LCFC fan? My immediate boss is. If you are congrats on your promotion. Never really in any danger!

  9. Re: Best bet of the day 28th April

    :(
SamPa, did I do that repost wrong? I put in original post to substitute if original selection was a non runner as there was a good chance it would be. Is it that when putting reason, I assumed that it meant reason for the alternative selection (non runner) not reasons for picking the selection as in form etc!!! I didn't have time to explain selection as I had to go out! Sorry for the ignorance! Anyhow, took 5/1 this morning :nana
  10. Re: Best bet of the day 28th April

Wincanton 2.55 - Wizard of Odds Ran today (Monday) 3rd of 7. I didn't see it run tho, so going on reports. Lightly raced (only ran 5 times) The run today (Monday) should sharpen him up for tomorrow, although there is a chance he's pulled out. I like the fact that he's out again so quickly. Won on the ground, albeit a bumper race, class 3, at Ascot. Trainer doing ok. 2 wins from 9 runs in the last 14 days. If he jumps, he must have an e.w. shout imo. Price around 7/1 Sporting Life If the horse is withdrawn exchange for Oddshoes, same race Thanks. :hope
Wizard of Odds is a non runner, so siding with Oddshoes same race E.W. :hope

  12. Re: Newby poster!

:welcome Blader' date=' look forward to reading your posts.[/quote'] Don't get too excited fintron, as I don't know enough to make them that interesting. Incidently, I've just took a peak at your blog. Nice one! Do you actually gamble for a living, or as a past time? I gamble because I enjoy it! Expensive hobby I call it. I enjoy the whole thing. Studying form etc. Winning is just a side line. Call it a bonus, as I fully expect to do my money. :$ Be lucky! :dude
  13. Re: Best bet of the day Mon 27th April Newcastle 4-50pm - Floor Show I'm taking fitness on trust as he has run for over 200 days. There was a lot to like about his last run over todays trip. I'm banking on improvement, but think he's the sort to show it. One slight negative though. McMahon has only had two winners from his last 28 runners, although he's copped for no less than 9 seconds! Maybe he's due a change of fortune? Price around 7/1 - E.W.

  14. Brian Meehan has issued a warning that if the ground is too firm for Saturdays 2000 Guineas, he will pull it out. He has the option of the french 2000 Guineas the following week. Well that's a bit of a sickener, I've backed Delegator win and place a number of times on Betfair, prices ranging from 11 downwards. :cry

  15. Good day gentlemen (and any lady punters) Just thought I'd join a very interesting and I must say informative forum, with what I can only describe as some knowledgable posters Hope to stick my twopenneth in during the coming months (time permitting) Question: I notice the various tips of the day threads etc. Does everyone just use their way of deciding a winner, or could there be the odd i.t.k. punter on here? More importantly, is it shared on here? :D
