  1. Re: Golf: St Jude Championship

St Jude in Tenessee this week on the PGA Tour, the final warm up before the US Open in New York next week. I'm involved as follows 2 pts win David Toms @ 16/1 1pt e/w on the following Robert Allenby @ 33/1 Boo Weekly @ 50/1 John Senden @ 66/1 Bob Estes @ 70/1 Tim Herron @ 100/1
You are well positioned here Mr Harris with David Toms and Allendy among the contenders at the half way stage
  2. Re: Darts: UK-Open 2009 I agree that Phil Taylor represents little value at this event, with his record not meriting even money status, despite his fantastic form prior to his loss in the Premier League. With the format on the event throwing the odd surprise run - think the FA Cup of darts - I am lookng at a couple of larger priced competitiors to throw a spanner into the works 1pt Mervyn King 25/1 generally 0.5pts Paul Nicholson 125/1 Skybet 0.5pts Dennis Priestly 100/1 Totesport

  3. Re: The Celtic Manor Wales Open

The thing is all the main protagonists for the Ryder cup are playing at Muirfield Village this week' date=' this is actually a very weak field. There are players priced at 25/1 who would be three figures in a top class lineup. Very difficult to narrow the field down from a betting perspective, with the each way value practically non-existant. I'm giving it a miss and concentrating on The Memorial, the each way value is much better with Tiger in the field pushing everyone one else out several points.[/quote'] Good point mate, Ive adjusted the thread to allow people to put their tips on both events, no doubt the Memorial is the Premium event.
  4. Re: English Greyhound Derby 2009 Great work above Teabag.Im writing this thread from an internet cafe in Wimbledon, after flying down from my base in Edinburgh at 8am this morning.Picked up an rp in the airport, spent the time studying the form and have now lumped on :cow Im on glenars sunrise at 10/1 in the final, hopefully it will crack out and make all.Im off to Plough Lane this evening, hope everyone who is there enjoys the showpiece, and everyone watching on Sky has a good night. My nap is still Platinumlancelot who I notice has also been napped in the post. Enjoy the proceedings ladies and gents :hope

  5. Re: English Greyhound Derby 2009 Well its going to be a cracking night with a cracking final. Following on from the FA Cup final in the afternoon, I reckon the supporting card is truly worthy of the occasion. Alot of the best dogs of the year will be in attendance including a tasty meeting between Midway Skipper and Flying Winner, the latter owned by gambling guru Harry Findlay. As for final itself its a difficult one to call. Even Kinda Ready has a chance, although it hasnt been trapping in the competition it has shown decent early in other traps and who knows this could end up being the time when it gets itself handy to challenge.Favourite will surely be Ballymac Ruso who has been providing sectionals that the others could only dream of, and if it breaks like in the quarter finals it will win. Fear Zafonic finally has its trap 1, and is sure to be a threat against the rail even if it doesnt lead, if its handy could over power its early speed rivals during the back straight. The roar when the draw was made and it received trap a said it all.Wise Thought is plotted to the hills, and should secure the smoothest path to ensure atleast a top 3 finish.Farloe Reason has been great over the last couple of years and has posted the second best time of the finalists behind Ruso.Glenard Sunrise is the youngest in the race, and is capable of ruffling a few feathers at the first bend and is a tasty price of 10/1.Its great to see a final with alot of the top dog entrees present, and the bookies will take a hammering if its anything but a Kinda Ready win.Overall though I have to make a selection, and am doing so based on the prices at the moment and my pick will be 4-3-6

  6. Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U Granted its a great final in prospect, but while the bookies arent able to split who is going to lift the trophy - both are available at even money - I think whilst Barcelona have an abundance of attacking options, United have the defensive quality to keep the likes of Messi and Henry quiet.Put it this way, if theres one manager who knows how to keep Henry quiet, its Sir Alex. United will suffer less from stage nerves, having been in the showpiece final last year, while Barca have a rookie manager who are aching to bring back this title to a Spain yearning to replace the EPL at the top of the European tree. UEFA and Platini in particular will be looking for a Spanish win, but at the end of the day Platini is a French bufoon who will do anything to keep the glamour away from the EPL. His wife must have had an affair with a Brit at some point.Anyway, I digress. I feel confident that United will win this game with a bit to spare, Ronaldo,Rooney,Rio will all be on the ball against a Barca team gifted the Semi Final tie by not a Spaniard, A frenchman, An Argentinian but a Norwegian ref. I fully expect Ronaldo to bag a goal, although not necessarily from one of his trademark free kicks but from a set piece header to undo Barca's defence. Then in chasing the game they will leave countless gaps at the back which I reckon will result in the two goal cushion 1 point Manchester United to beat Barcelona by 2 goals 17/2 Sky Bet Then I want the camera to pan in on Platini's angry french face, so I can shout at the screen for him to shove his complaining hypocritical head up his arse, and demand that he urges the delegation panel to give us the World Cup in 2018 rather than vote elsewhere all because he doesnt want the focus of UEFA to be based around one country.

  7. Re: Pga Golf European Open. Interesting points regarding both Ross Fisher and Danny Willett.Dont know a great deal about the latter, but for me the former is too short at 14/1 to raise the trophy on Sunday. While my wallet will be feeling the burden at Plough Lane on Saturday evening, I might feel the burden of the 'Willett' this week by having a cheeky wager at 125/1 with Sporting Bet based on your immense confidence. However this will only be a small wager, as I feel there is value aplenty to be had further down the market. Soren Hansen has to be backed at 50/1, having a great record in Nichlaus designed courses in recent years. Granted his form has been patchy, but his tee to green play at Wentworth was decent and can excel in this field. As for an outsider, David Dixon has performed at a consistent level this year, and is overpriced at 300/1 with totes - or 500/1 with betfair to perform here. There is also value for top 5 and top 10 finishes. 2 pts e-w Soren Hanson 50/1 General 0.5 pts e-w Danny Willett 125/1 Sportingbet 1pt win/place/top ten David Dixon 500/1 , 55/1, 25/1 Betfair

  8. Re: P.g.a Golf..wentworth

I can't believe you are putting your hard earned on Colin Montgomerie ! If he wins I'll personally don the Doubtfire regalia on derby final night as a forfit. Hansen is a return to sanity he clearly loves it round Wentworth and can contend if shaking off the rusty start he has made to the current campaign.
Hes in the top ten currently. When you do your packing for Plough Lane Mr Harris, dont forget the hoover :nana
  9. Re: F1: Monaco Grand Prix I reckon Monaco is a different beast to alot of the circuits out there, and its the one race on the calendar where alot of the qualifying positions will be based on experience of how to handle the sharp bends. While there is alot to be said for Red Bull, I feel that it could be worth taking a chance with Ferrari. They improved no end during Spain despite their tactical blunder in qualifying. I feel that Massa has what it takes here to be in the top 3 in the race for pole, and there is speed using the kers that some of the others at the top end of the race wont be able to match.Brawn are there to be shot at, but it wont be Mark Webber who will pull the trigger in my opinion 2 points Massa to win the race 12/1 Blue Square

  10. Re: 20/05/2009 Uefa Cup Final - Shaktar vs Werder Bremen You never know quite how teams are going to react to such a big night. Neither teams are the shining lights, but dont forget that Shaktar couldnt beat a Sporting team to second place on the Champions Group stages, a team which later went on to get absolutely spanked by another German team in the knockout round.Granted Munich are better than Bremen, but they are still going to lose the league title to Wolfsburg this season. 3 pts Werder Bremen 15/8 Blue Square 1 pt Bremen/Bremen 4/1 Paddy Power 0.5 pts Bremen 3-0 35/1 Paddy Power

  11. Re: English Greyhound Derby 2009 So we are 1 step away from final night. One night away from the connections having the best buzz in racing. One colossal Droopys Lomasi like start from clinching a final birth. One brave swoop at the first bend to challenge down the back straight to fight for a place in the final.Alot have come and gone, favourites have scraped through, and even a couple of rags are still in with a chance and here are the details for the semi-finals: First 1 Jogadusc Ace - has done well to make it this far, in the opening round looked like it was running out of gas, yet thanks to its early dash has been able to sneak through this far and even gave current favourite Wise Thought plenty to think about in the previous round.Currently available at 33/1 ante post and 14s for the heat, this could give Zafonic and Ruso cause for concern at the first.I reckon this will be a shock qualifier for the final and possibly the race 2 Fear Zafonic - has been the ante post jolly for the majority of the action, but after a couple of problematic draws finds itself vying for favouritism with Ruso and Wise Thought. There is no doubt if this was a race in a straight line this would be difficult to beat, but I see it getting stuck behind trap 1 and the bend and will be all out to qualify. 3 Ballymac Ruso - Has been much more consistent than I thought it would be, after warming up for the competition in worse form than any of the others. It has been almost faultless in the heats, but I really do feel that if it doesnt ping out and by all form its due a shocker, I feel its run could come to an end. 4 Shelbourne Denny (m) : Looked at backing it at massive odds ante post but left it.The Irish love to win this competition, and if this dog can sneak through the green hats will be on display at Plough Lane a week on Saturday. It will be at the back at the first bend and hope come through up the inner, and try and catch the likes of trap 1 of the final bend. Surely cant cope with the pace of the inside railers though, as it would need mass carnage to be close enough to win 5 Wise Thought (w): New ante post jolly, and has a better draw than it could have asked for at this stage. It will blitz awat from rag trap 6 in the first few metres and have too much for most of these of the second bend. 6 Stop The Show (w): Done well to make the final but at 66/1 ante post still, I cant see it competing here. The final curtain awaits. Selection 1-5-2 Second 1 Glenard Sunrise. Rewarded backers against Windy Millar in the last round, I am flabbergasted to see that the bookies have woken up and priced it at 7/2 for the heat.It should be favourite! If it can get away from Reason at the start it wont look back and duly land a place in the final. 2Farloe Reason. If this wins the final, it would get a reaction akin to Westmead Hawk.Almost an old timer now, this is the last chance of glory. Imagine Bruno against Tyson.Bad Example.Anyway, this is heat jolly and will be up there at the first bend and no dog deservies its final spot more. 3 Kinda Ready Hasnt exactly been electric at the lids, but at 100/1 ante post could reward punters by landing the trophy next week. It will have to come from clouds off the final bend. 4 Love Mac.Another who will stay on around the 4th bend, and has exceeded last years quarter final berth here. Will it find a couple too good though once again.I think so. 5 Cabra Boss (w) Still a tasty 25/1 ante post, this has to clear the outside pair at the traps or frankly its fcked. 6 Bubbly Maestro (w). Great performance in the quarters, but if it breaks like that again, I will to a naked moonwalk down the run up. Owned by the champagne syndicate. Selection 1-2-3 This would make Wise Thought absolutely plotted up for the final

  12. Re: P.g.a Golf..wentworth

Just heard Mickelson has withdrawn as his wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer :(. This is obviously going to have a pretty big affect on the market and all those already on are going to have a big chunk of their each way value chopped by his omission. I'm concentrating on the action on this side of the pond this week as, for a change, the European tour is providing a stonger field than its US counterpart. My bets are as follows Angel Canbrera win only @ 17/1 Retief Goosen e/w @ 25/1 Oliver Wilson e/w @ 35/1 Richard Green e/w @ 80/1
All the best to Big Phil and his family at this time.:( Hopefully he will be back soon after his wife makes a recovery and he can be seen in a dual with Tiger down the back 9 at Turnberry in July. As for the Nelson, I will have 1pt Steven Flesch 125/1 B365
  13. Re: P.g.a Golf..wentworth Looking forward to this weeks golf at Wentworth.Wouldnt touch Cabrera at 16s personally, although a previous winner its far too short in what is a wide open competition this week.I have a fancy for Anders Hansen at 50/1, who has been a previous winner on two occasions on this course. most recently in 2007. In addition to that. I have identified a couple of players at huge prices who could find themselves in the mix come Sunday afternoon. The first is good old Colin Montgomerie, who won the tournament 3 times on the bounce at the turn of the century, and can go close to rekindling the old magic after showing signs of competing last week, until scoring an 80 in a shocking round last Saturday. I also think Pele Edberg could come of age after a string of fairly consistent efforts in the last couple of years, and can surprise 2pts Anders Hansen 50/1 Ladbrokes 1/4 1-5 1pt Mrs Doubtfire 125/1 Totesport 1/4 1-5 1pt Pelle Edberg 350/1 Stan James 1/4 1-5

  14. Re: English Greyhound Derby 2009

Congratulations on your 0 out of 8 tipping performance last night Hickie. :lol Only kidding mate that's the way it goes sometimes ;). The 3rd quarter final is an unbelivably strong race, heat of death dosen't begin to do it justice. There is so much early pace in the race I feel Shelbourne Aston may be left with too much to do off the penultimate bend and could be going home. The other three heats look fairly open and shut cases although nothing can be taken for granted at the dreaded first bend. I've still got four of my antepost selections going strong and await Tuesday nights action with excitement and plenty of hope if not quite expectation.
Indeed it wasnt the best night of tipping I have ever had. Im getting my bad night out of the way early this year, so I can clean up on the terraces on Derby Final night.Heat 3 is indeed of the upmost quality, and I reckon the Derby final itself wont be as classy as this race. This will allow a couple of sly outsiders to sneak through unnoticed to the semi-final stages and I reckon Cabra Fly at 33/1 and Glenard Surprise at 20/1 have got a better set-up than they could possibly have hoped for at this stage. The latter looks still to be receiving less credit than its runs suggest, and I will be lumping on before the quarter finals as I fully expect this dog to reach the final and be a threat to any of the three protagonists that will survive the heat of death, which will be tighter than a nuns arse
  15. Re: English Greyhound Derby 2009 Round 3: Saturday 16th May 3 qualify from each heat Heat 1 : 6-1-2 Deanridge Fury Heat 2 : 6-2-3 Cabra Boss nap Heat 3 : 4-1-3 Drumna Willow Heat 4 : 5-1-6 Boherna Best Heat 5 : 4-3-2 Melodys Pat Heat 6 : 2-1-4 Glenard Sunrise Heat 7 : 6-4-1 Dotland Hitman Heat 8 : 1-4-6 Cash Dream nb

  16. Re: Irish Open Golf.

Ive taken Alistair forsyth @ 10.5 to finish in the top ten - betfair. Read his speil in the national paper up here this week, and he wants a top finish here as he is currently 86th position for the " race to dubai " of which the top 60 players in the world compete, he has finished his last 3 tournaments in the top 10 and will like the links golf.
good shout Nastro hes got off to a solid enough start :ok
  17. Re: Eurovision 2009 Oh yes. You can forget your Premier League football You can forget your Open Championship. You can forget your Ashes Series. You can even forget the Cheltenham Festival. The punting event to end all punting events is here in the glorious form of Eurovision. Its the punt that everyone loves to make but nobody admits to.Its got more politics than a Champions League final at Stamford Bridge. Now that Terry Wogan has given up his eternal hope for another UK winner(a bit like Arsene Wenger will with Arsenal with a couple more trophyless years), Graham Norton puts his helmet on and steps into the trenches to do battle with the cream and the cack of Europe. But wait - the voting regime has changed and it could all go so well! Heres hoping that Andrew Lloyd Webber has managed to capture the heart of Germany, stir the passion of Turkey and whip the Russians into a pavalova. Here are my tips for the event come Saturday night 2 pts Greece 11/2 vc bet 1 pt each way Ukraine 33/1 totesport 1/4 1-3

  18. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Sun 10/05/2009 To be honest horse racing isnt normally my speciality but I noticed it was attracting large amounts of money with other firms at 12s and 10s so new the 14s wouldnt last. When well established firms cut a horse from 12s straight into 8s it takes a reasonable degree of money and on value terms alone I had to take the price. Will see how it runs anyway a bit later :hope

  19. Re: Spanish GP (F1) Massa looks a shoe in for the podium based on the weight classifications. With his kers he should get off to a flyer from the grid and if avoiding a first bend collision with the Brawns, should nip around in second atleast.Fuelled heavier than Button, he should be able to compete for the lead after Jenson goes in to pit.He really shoud be short for the podium so I recommend a hefty wager 4 points Mass to finish on the podium 7/4 coral
