Re: CL - 7th & 8th of April
Because them to score is not 1.77... It's 1/18 on Paddy Power!erm why do barca to win at 1.44 when them to score is 1.77??? -
Re: UEFA Cup Thu 12/3 Werder Bremen v St Etienne League form does not always transfer to European competition; but nevertheless, the contrasting domestic fortunes of these two sides are worth examining. Bremen have struggled recently in the Bundesliga, with three losses and no wins in their last six. St Etienne, meanwhile, are dragging themselves away from the relegation zone with only three losses in their last twelve, and a win last time out. Furthermore, Europe has been a welcome distraction for St Etienne all season - they have beaten Olympiakos twice, drawn with Valencia and Club Brugge, and earlier in the competition had comfortable wins over Rosenborg and FC Copenhagen (who themselves have had some decent European results). Bremen, on the other hand, have become the European draw specialists; they drew four of six in their Champions League group, and went through against AC Milan in the UEFA Cup on away goals after two draws. Looking at this, it seems strange that Bremen are as short as 1/2 in places - they are available to lay on Betfair at 1.57, and though St Etienne are available as big as 6/1, considering the number of draws Bremen have had in Europe (and St Etienne’s patchy away form) the lay of the home side is the way to go. LAY Werder Bremen @ 1.57 (Betfair) - 1 point liability

Re: Uefa Cup ( 17.12.2008 )
If Lech win by 2 goals they qualify regardless.Deportivo v Nancy Going for a draw here as both can qualify with a draw as long as Lech Poznan do not win in Feyenoord 13/5 at bwin Ajax v Slavia Praha Ajax -1.5 . If Ajax win by more than 2 goals it is likely they will win the group and have the easier draw in the next round (unless Aston villa win with their depleted squad) :hope :hope -
Re: Champions League - Matchday 6 - Wednesday 10th December
If Arsenal field youngsters the above 2.64 on Porto looks attractive. I don't think they will though!possible Gunners XI will be fielded among these players: Almunia; Fabianski; Hoyte; Gibbs; Silvestre; Gallas; Djourou; Denilson; Song; Eboue; Ramsey; Randall; Merida; Diaby; Wilshere; Vela; Bendtner; Simpson. Looks like Arsenal B or C Teram tonight. Hmmmm... -
Re: Champions League - Matchday 6 - Tuesday 9th December
Had a little stake on the back of this, laid off but a nice win nonetheless. Good tip :cheersWhat about Shaktar Donetsk? Barcelona will rest 8 players and with some injuries they will really have a B-squad on the field. The Ukranians are a decent side -remember their smashing 5-0 victory against Basel. They will want to take revenge for the first leg (undeservedly lost) against the team from 'Cataluna'. Odds dropped already but there is still value. My local bookie still offers 8.90 for Shakter to win. Will be putting some money on it. -
Re: Champions League - Matchday 6 - Tuesday 9th December Chelsea v CFR Cluj Chelsea should win, spurred on by the home crowd, and win comfortably. They will tear into Cluj from the off - an early goal will settle the nerves and they'll be desperate for one. Time of the first goal: Up to and including the 24th minute @ 10/11 (Paddy Power)

Re: UEFA Cup - 3,4 December 2008
No particular info, but Villa are resting players and if I was to back anything it would be a tiny stake on the fairly big 11s available on a Zilina win. Villa qualified, complacent, focussing on the league, Zilina nothing to lose. What do you think of Aston Villa game? Home win is very possible, Aston Villa standing on top of the table with two wins and GD 3-1. On the other side Žilina is in last place with one draw and two defeats, GD 1-3. Any info? -
Re: UEFA Cup - 3,4 December 2008 Wolfsburg v Portsmouth Wolfsburg are in good form (won 5 of 6 Bundesliga games, and two from two in the UEFA) - but as are Portsmouth, unbeaten in five including drawing with AC Milan. Portsmouth need a win to have any chance of progressing, and I see them really going for it - with Crouch, Defoe et al they certainly have goals in them. Their last 3 games in all competitions have been 3-2, 2-2, 2-2, so they're scoring but also conceding. Wolfsburg's two UEFA games have been 3-2 and 5-1 - and aside from their recent 0-0 draw with Dortmund, Bundesliga results have been 4-1, 2-3, -0 so there are lots of goals going into this one. I see it as an open game, Portsmouth attacking as they really need a win, and Wolfsburg having the quality to hit them on the counter attack. Over 2.5 Goals Wolfsburg v Portsmouth 1.91 Betfair In the same game, I would be inclined to back a late goal - Portsmouth conceded 2 late to AC Milan in their last UEFA outing, and have also conceded late to Hull and Wigan recently - as well as scoring late to win at Blackurn last weekend. Wolfsburg produced a stunning comeback to beat Braga in stoppage time in their last UEFA Cup game, and also scored late against Stuttgart in their penultimate Bundesliga game. Its relatively difficult to find games where either of them haven't scored or conceded late, in fact! With this likely to be an open game, with Porstmouth pushing for a results, there is a good chance goals will come late - and its the form. Time of the last goal later than 74th minute: 5/6 Paddy Power

Re: UEFA Cup - Thursday 27th November
I think they play Nancy next, no?Club Brugge's home record - 4-2-0 St Etienne's away record - 0-1-6 St Etienne are virtually already qualified from their group having won their two matches quite comfortably yet being horrific in the French league (lost their last 5). The new manager has said that he will not field the reserves but 'we will play our strongest team against Nice, which might not necessarily be the team we field against Brugge' come on that's the exact same thing as putting out reserves? Fancy Brugge here and their price is somewhat falling at the minute -
Re: Champions league - Matchday 5 - Tuesday 25th November I think Celtic will get the monkey off their backs tonight. Many of the reasons are mentioned in this thread already, but the primary ones becing thay are a better side (Aalborg have a poor record in a poor leage, Celtic have a good record in a poor league) Celtic can qualify whereas Aalborg cannot, and Celtic's recent away form has been better of late. The only pro for the Danes, aside from obviously home advantage, is Celtic's gash away form; but all trends come to an end, and I think Celtic's will tonight. Celtic @ 2.54 (all prices from Betfair) In Manchester, Utd only need a draw to progress, and Villareal will be close to progression with one also. In these situations the games oh so often end in a draw, and I see another one tonight. The odds are shorter than usual, but all factors considered, I still think its a god bet. Draw @ 2.92

Re: Champions league - Matchday 5 - Wednesday 26th November
Why not back that, then... 100% is pretty likelyi consider Inter's victory over panathinaikos as a 100% sure given -
Re: International Friendlies - 18/19/20 Nov I think the Germany - England game will be close and reasonably hard to call; England are missing a lot of players as discussed, but those coming in will be fired up, the team are on a roll, and Capello will be anxious not to rupture current form. Germany obviously have home advantage, and a stronger (relatively) side out. They will be keen to put one over the old enemy. England's defence will be shaky and I can't see them keeping a clean sheet. And I also can't see them winning. Thus, my 'safe' tip: England v Germany DRAW NO BET Germany @ 1.56 (Betfair) 3 points
