  1. Re: BBOTD - Wednesday 22nd Feb 2.50 Ling PALMYRA 9/4 lads Won what looked an uncompetitive maiden here 18 days but a mark of 63 grossly underestimates david simcocks filly, handicapper had no choice with the 3rd that day been a 60 rated 4 year old maiden conceding weight all round, however was very impressed with the way this horse picked up from the rear in a slowly run race and step up in trip will suit. Only problem is Bramshill lass is also on my shortlist as i feel she can win a handicap off a mark of 74, however with simcocks filly getting all the weight here i'll take her to win this. 1pt win

  2. Re: BBOTD Friday 17th 2.25 newbury GILLUMBUSTI - I'm convinced at around 2.35 we will be saying to ourselves how was this horse allowed to run in a handicap off 134, i dont actually think this was the long term plan, i believe he's a graded horse but Emma Levelle's hand has been forced by the very generous handicapper, i believe the race at Doncaster is strong form and this fella and the winner both pulled miles clear of the rest, they will both be contesting the Albert bartlett at the festival and i'd give both leading chances, so if my theory's are correct this horse wins this race off 134 on it's head. 1pt win 7/2 boyles

  3. Re: BBOTD Thursday 16th of February 2.20 Southwell Bird Dog 6/1 bet365 This horse has been gagging for the minimum trip for the last 3 runs, you can tell by watching the previous runs he's screaming in the final furlong as stamina dies out, ran a blinder on tuesday after missing the break and then showing class early speed to sit up and lead, effort took its toll and he slipped to 5th. looking forward to him back down at 5f today. 1pt win 6/1 bet365

  4. Re: BBOTD - Wed 15th Feb 6.40 kempton emerald royal 4/1 stan james Joined new yard and was gelded, showed promise 2 outings ago when having a warm up, then bolted up last time 4lb rise is very lenient and fully expecting this one to go in again here, with fearless poet making the market but that didn't show as much form as the selection last time out when winning. 1pt win

  5. Re: What a farce!!!!! He has no argument the whip was not used as a corrective measure, watch Joe fanning on Emery in the 4.10 that is how to ride a horse that wants to hang and doss about, slaps down the neck and waving the whip and forcing the reins are all other ways to deal with a hanging horse, he didn't whip the horse when it hung round the 1st bend. Rules are rules i'm afraid and i have no sympathy, i still maintain that the best jockeys have not recieved bans flat or jumps, it's run of the mill jockeys that are getting found out, standards will improve it will just take time to weed out the poor jocks.

  6. Re: BBOTD Saturday 11th of February lingfield 2.45 palace moon 11/4 bet 365 Read that this horse has had a wind op in the break he had before bolting up a kempton 20 days ago, if thats true he'll be very hard to beat here up just 3lb. Nothing in this field stands out and i expect this horse to defy top weight and out class this lot. 1pt win

  7. Re: Flat Racing 10th Feb 5.50 dundalk Forbidden city goes from the front and the past 2 fridays he's faded into 4th over a mile then got nabbed close to the line last week over 7 last week when i was on which was heartbreaking, this is a different kettle of fish tonight but he's well drawn to attack in stall 5 but he's down in trip again to 6f this is a conundrum because he's shown plenty of speed in past few weeks but can he lead sprint types like he can lead 7/8 furlong horses at the prices am willing to make this 3rd time lucky, only small stakes 0.25pt win 6/1 laddys

  8. Re: Flat Racing 10th Feb Some cracking racing tonight at dunstall just settling down after work now for some AW action, perfect friday night viewing.... 5.10 wolver First impressions of this race are that there could be a pace orgy' up front here but as often the case with these races with a host of front runners jockeys tend to look at each other in the first 100yards and it's a bit cat and mouse..... Anyhow one jock who wont be looking but he will be clinging on for dear life is Neil Fairly as Grand Stitch is one of the fastest about in this grade and i reckon he'll win the battle for the lead, dont think he'll stay there though as often finishes his races dead in the water.... an American 4 furlong race would be right up his street. One horse that caught my eye last saturday was Court Applause he travelled like a decent animal in the competitive blue sq series at ling last time didn't do a jot though after the bend that was 6f this is 5f could suit in my eyes clearly has plenty of speed so should be able to lay up and hope he can see his race out this time. 1pt win court applause 5/1 bet365

  9. Re: BBOTD - Wed 8th Feb 2012 4.30 Kempton Pale Orchid 7/4 bet victor I've completely missed the value for BBOTD purposes but this horse is improving at a rate of knots since joining david evans, recorded a huge speed and topspeed figure when beating another big improver in dark castle this is form to follow and this is a horse to follow. 1pt win

  10. Re: BBOTD - Tues 7th Feb 2012 1.45 southwell Phoenix Flame Was looking pretty much like a lost cause until showing a marked improved run last time with the fitting of a tongue tie, that run was at a trip to short so stepped back up to his ideal trip today and with the tongue tie on again expecting a big run on what is the last chance saloon for this horse. 1pt win 7/2 bet365

  11. Re: BBOTD Thursday 2nd of February 1.30 southwell LA CAPRIOSA best be quick as price contracting, basically handicapper given him a real chance here thought he ran really well over 6 last time, but handicapper dropped him another 1lb which puts the icing on the cake, apprentice takes off 5lb so basically running off a mark of 60, will be far to quick for them off this mark, and to top it all off last time he dropped into to basement class 6 race he hacked up!!! 1pt win 7/2 willhill

  12. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 31st 3.40 VAL MUNDO 11/4 paddy power This is one of those bets where everything seems so obvious, last year was winning group 3s on the level in germany, purchased by new owners on 1st of october for 70 grand sent to venitia had the public schooling sessions out the back of novice hurdle races gently biding it's time never having been put into a winning position, last time out you would notice him in the background making eye-catching headway, showing that he is coming to hand. Has got a mark of 100 for handicap debut was recording RPR's of 106 on the flat so hurdle mark clearly under estimates him. Will the had-brake be let off today??? I guess that is up to Venitia and the owner, however he has multiple entry's over the next few days and you would imagine this is too enable him to run with 6lb if he were to win. Like i say it's too obvious to be true surely but i cant resist it. 1pt win 11/4 paddy power

  13. Re: BBOTD 30Th Of January 3.40 wolves WIGRAMS TURN 5/1 bet365 The form of the race this fella won over CD on 9th December is working out very well with 4 out the first 6 that day going on to win 7 races between them, is still very well handicapped on old form having won off 85 in the past and running off 66 today. Ignore last run at Lingfield he's never gone there 0-3 and that run stunk in my opinion drifted all day and hugged inside at lingfield never landed a blow back over CD think he could be a good bet, has been drifting all night all-ready opening 7/2 now out to 5s, that is the problem when backing this stables horses and i think we will know our fate the way the market goes in the 10 mins before the race. 1pt win 5/1 bet365

  14. Re: All-weather racing - does the draw matter? Only take notice of draw over the 7f at wolvs where is drawn on the outside when there is 13 runners it is horrific the only option is too hold the horse up with the bend coming up so quickly, also wide drawn horses over the 5f at kempton are at a massive disadvantage, front runners rule the inner course at kempton it's to sharp the final bend poorly designed in my opinion front runners can kick for home while other horses are still handling the bend.

  15. Re: BBOTD Saturday 28th January 2012 1.30 cheltenham CARPINCHO - I've been very impressed by the way this fella jumps, and in a 16 runner novices handicap chase around Cheltenham jumping is going to be tested and it is the toughest test most of these novices have faced, wasn't a bad hurdler rated 137 by the end of 2011 season finishing off 9th in the grade 3 at aintree. Still has potential to improve past his mark of 130 in my opinion so rates a decent bet in a trappy race. 1pt win 10/1 laddys, 365

  16. Re: BBOTD Thursday 26th Jan 2012 3.05 navan AD IDEM 20/1 willhill Cracking handicap chase for a thursday, selecting top weight in a soft ground handicap over 3 miles can often seem crazy and quick way to a poor house, however AD IDEM is an exception in my eyes here, he jumps absolutely brilliantly and his effort in the troytown was brilliant he was the best horse that day by a good few lengths, he has his quirks, clearly he doesnt like sticking his head in front and when he takes up the running he finds nothing and falls in a black hole. Step up to the plate Andrew Mcnamara i'm hopeful he can finesse him to the front, (i will be setting up a lay in-running to get my stake back as the way he jumps and travels i'm pretty confident he will trade shorter) asking a lot i know but fair value at big price, trainer says can put a line through her horses over xmas because they had a stable problem but tests on this horse's blood show he back fine. 1pt win 20/1 willhill 1pt win

  17. Re: BBOTD Saturday 21st January 2.35 ascot SMAD PLACE 6/1 bet365 Finally back on PL after a web based catastrophy (Wannado/Orange what-ever they f**kin call themselves nowadays) Alan Kings 5 year old burst onto the scene last year at newbury when trouncing a Nicholls hot-pot, that run came after a break, he returns from a lay-off again tommorow and the way the form of the triumph has been working out it could well be that he is well handicapped. Kingy stable been in good form recently and hoping for a big run here.:hope 1pt win 6/1 bet365

  18. Re: The Jockey Thread The racing press and TV pundits are missing the point here, it's people like Kennedy that give the sport a bad name, as mileni states bang average rider and first sign of trouble and he gets whip happy, it will take years of re-training and for the younger breed to come through.

  19. Re: The Jockey Thread My opinion was he fekked up from about 2f out and seemed content to hold on and hold on for what seemed an eternity, then after the last fence a light bulb moment came on in his head and he thought "shit" and resorted to brutallity with a whip, it's not harsh what i have said, it's fact. If i were to fail to do my job properly i would be sent on training courses or reprimanded then sacked if i continued to make the same mistakes, don't see why jockeys should be any diff. On the recent whip issues i'd like to point out i thought Rob Winstons was harsh as he was using it properly as a corrective issue, Robert Cooper was just plain cheating showing no regard for rules deserves all he gets, and Kennedy was just plain shite race riding and the first thought when he realised he was in trouble was to resort to the whip with brutal strikes lets make that clear, they were not encouraging strikes and they didn't give the mare time to respond.

  20. Re: The Jockey Thread Most people will of seen this and have an opinion regarding Will Kennedy's ride on Swincombe Flame, now this is my opinion of course but watching the tv i was wincing and lets get one thing straight i aint no Animal Welfare activist or RSPCA for that matter and i'm all for jockeys getting to work on horse when required in professional style. He has got the horse up to win a nose but the horse has got him out of a massive hole, this is the sort of stuff the tarnishes racing's image kennedy battered the poor mare on the run in, it was brutal and harsh and a total disgrace in my eyes, he deserves a 1 month ban and sending back to riding school, how can a pro jockey hit a horse in the wrong place?????? Why did he seem to let featherbed lane get a 3 length head start before preceding to butcher the poor mares backside (and i'm sure i spotted a forehead down the neck) up the run in. Total disgrace!!! Anyhow from a punting point of view the mares clearly got tonnes in hand and would appeal in a similar big field next time out

  21. Re: BBOTD - Thurs 12 Jan 6.15 meydan ALKIMOS 11/8 will hill I dont usually back shortys and i hardly ever bet in Meydan but a mark of 104 for this is ridiculous he came 2nd at royal ascot in what was the hampton court when he had a rating of 103 now raised just 1lb and back into a handicap this should be up to winning this for yard that is well known for dubai exploits and always has horses ready. 1pt win 11/8 hills

  22. Re: BBOTD - Weds 11 January 7.45 kemp BLUEBERRY FIZZ - John Ryans filly been in good form last 2 starts, has to overcome a wide draw but certanly is in-form while a fair number of these need to bounce back, hopefully will settle better than lto out if that happens a first win could be on the cards 10/3 betfred 1 pt win

  23. Re: Flat Racing 11th Jan Me neither but then i wouldn't of backed any prominant racers as i was predicting a pace burn up, that didn't happen i think jockeys and trainers must of looked at race before and of pften can be the case with so many front runners, they all looked at each other in first furlong. Sir geoff was eyecatching i agree he's another who usually shows blistering early speed, still only 1lb below highest winning mark though so hope handicapper leaves him alone.
