Re: Binchy's Lays Well done Binchy. A clean sweep and a new peak in profits.

Re: Sprinting On The Flat And another one. What a little gem this thread has developed into, congratulations to the author.

Re: Binchy's Lays The lowest traded price for Bally Lagan before the off, was 3.6 and this only amounted to £27.

Re: system testing and expectations ATR replayed the 3:25 race several times this afternoon, after the poor running of Romanesco. The vets inspection suggests that the horse is suffering from a respiratory tract infection which could rule him out of his next entry on Monday.

Re: Trading Software.... Sure, it can certainly iron out the peaks and troughs of backing. Best of luck and hope you make good progress.

Re: Trading Software.... Spot on The Saint, far too many cherry picked videos out there giving the impression that trading is a licence to print money. Certainly a decent living can be made from trading, as is evident from some of the pro's challenges on the Geeks forum. As with punting, be prepared to make more than a few mistakes while you ease yourself in, so try and keep the software costs at a minimum. When it comes to making mistakes I could fill a book :)

Re: Trading Software.... Bet Angel is generally the first port of call for those dipping their toe in the water as it's well advertised and although it would probably make the podium, I'd hang a bronze medal on it at best. Opinions will obviously differ but having used most of the software at some stage I began using Geeks Toy in 2009 and have seen nothing since that would change my view. Are you looking to trade manually or trigger your bets via Excel?

Re: Anyone a racing post member?? There was no inference to back the Ann Stokell runner erhaab1965, merely a negative statistic for the yard. Congratulations on kicking the habit Trotter, 40 years must have taken a fair grip.

Re: SUPREME NOVICES RATINGS Well done Richard, light that cigar up.

Re: Relevant books The two Jon Gibby books 'Betting on Flat Handicaps' (2005) and 'Well-Handicapped Horses' (2010) are worth a read.

Re: Backing odds on shots long term - the quick way to the poor house?
What a tosser!! Cant stand internet-hardmen!And i dont think i would want to meet you, as you would be probably called "torn up face" afterwards!! -
Re: Backing odds on shots long term - the quick way to the poor house? I updated the outstatnding results, which shows a current loss of around 12 points, but I see your point. :ok

Re: Backing odds on shots long term - the quick way to the poor house? Valid points made torn up slip but the manner i which you make them is akin to goading. Mowgli77 the thread is running at a loss, not a profit.

Re: course specialist I would agree with some of the cases put forward here. Ripon and Musselburgh do favour pace horses, Folkestone, Thirsk and Warwick are amongst others to consider. A front runner drawn low at Chester can often make all but a hold up performer from the same draw can be at a disadvantage, as they're often snatched up to settle and lose vital energy in the early stages. Sprint trips at Bath show no bias toward any running style but with the quirky nature of the course, previous course form is worth a second look. The five furlong sprint at Hamilton favours front runners. Blindly backing all such runners shows a tidy profit, whereas those held up have a very poor record.

Re: New RP card features A snip at £8.95 per month, just download an Ad Blocker to lose those annoying adverts and job's a good 'un. The Bet365 racing archive holds all UK & Irish video replays on one site so no need to upgrade.

Re: subscription form package recommendations. If you decide to go down the Racing Post route Matt, I'd suggest the basic package at £8.95. Don't pay for the opinions of their tipsters (or anyone elses for that matter). Bear in mind that the information isn't exclusive, web scrapers churn it out to all and sundry on a daily basis. One to consider if you're pitching in at the upper price band is Proform. I've not used Timeform for a number of years now but in my opinion Proform beats Raceform eased down.

Re: Flat Racing Friday 14th Jan The BHA weight for age scale gives concessions up to 4 yrs old, the amount is dependant on distance and time of year. Hope this helps. http://www.britishhorseracing.com/inside_horseracing/media/WFA_Flat.pdf#search=%22weight%20for%20age%20scale%22

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sun 28/6/09 3:25 Windsor. Legislate Won a maiden in March, handicap debut at Newmarket off 81 with the field average rating of 82 in a race which has produced group winners. With the same class/trip and ground as today he came 3rd of 11 showing speed above his rating and above par for todays race. Next race he was raised to 86 and raised in class on Soft ground at Newbury, drifted on course and came home 7th of 12. Todays race sees him running off 86 where the average is 83. Despite this being a 3 year old race with only 5 runners, Legislate is a front runner with the ability to set a decent pace. 5/2 into 7/4 already. Had a bit of 3.3 on the exchange and laid a third off so far. Looks to go shorter IR.

Re: The Curse of the Flying Dutchman Excellent post Rio. With Royal Ascot just around the corner, the Flat season begins in earnest. Using the Raceform Update selected form pages, the average prize money calculation is holding up as a reliable pointer.
