Re: Trainer Quotes.. pros and cons? I often wonder how honest trainers from the larger yards are when coming to a conclusion about how a horse will perform taking into account landing a gamble on a high profile horse is out the question. Are they really just bad judges?

Re: KAUTO STAR - LEGEND
No intention to put a damper on anything, I'm just more interested in a true analysis of the form as oppose to from a fan perspective that is all. :okTalking bout putting a dampener on things! :\ He jumped the fences better than Long Run, he deserved to win the race! Long Run will come on for that run and will more than likely confortably turn the form around, but we should be celebrating Kauto Star today, the way he jumped round alone was fantastic to the eye! Loads of people thought he should be put back into the fields munching grass after last year, so to put up a performance like he did today there is no way in hell this horse deserves to be critisised in any way shape or form, he is a legend! :beer Long Run wasnt at his best, everybody knows that, but its irrelevant! -
Re: KAUTO STAR - LEGEND
the 3 mistakes in arow that LR made handed the race to Kauto' date=' i dont think it was fitness, it was poor jumping[/quote'] I should have been more clear, Yes it was the jumping I was referring to, Surely if a horse comes into a race well and ready that means his jumping should have been in better knick than it was with the result being he wouldn't have lost as much ground? -
Re: KAUTO STAR - LEGEND Although Kauto showed a glimmer of his old self today I can't help but think he beat a horse who was not 100%.

Re: Champions Day
Quick question' date=' tomorrow theres a few Frenchies racing. The good old whip rule, how will it affect them? do they get a ban from riding in this country or banned from racing everywhere? I was just wondering about Mosse on Immortal Verse. If he only gets banned from British racing I'm sure he wouldn't take much notice of the rule as he doesn't ride much here. Sorry if this is a silly question.[/quote'] Interesting point, The French runners would indeed have an unfair advantage if any suspension only applied to the UK, Surely the penalty would be carried over to France if not they will be going into the race knowing they have the slight upper hand. -
Re: Form and the new whip rules I think the 1 to watch will be AP, Most of his midweek rides on horses who need that bit extra could surely never manage to win under the new system.

This Hunt will take off with a fairly risky strategy, The whole bank will be risked until I've managed to double the amount afterwards only a maximum of 50% per bet will be used. All Betfair This really is a Bank Builder or Buster but which road will it take :hope First bet to Kick things of then Bank - £102.32 Sunderland v Chelsea Lay Sunderland @ 5.9 - Backers Stake £20.80 Liability £101.92

Re: ATR - Who are we?
:welcome, If your looking for the back issues with regards to form the Racing Post site has pretty much everything covered :okHi all Newbie saying hi. I`ll give a quick intro, Stuart, 47 years young, placed my 1st bet on the horses when i was 10, my mum worked in the local Sam Cowan betting shop and she placed my 1st 5p win yankee for me, all 4 winning picking up £16:nana, needless to say after that i was hooked. Havent bet on the horses for approx 10 years or more, i think its about time i came in from the cold. Hopefully someone may be able to point me in the right direction, i`m looking for back issues of the Racing Post, 6 consecitive months issues, any ideas anyone? -
Re: Backing odds on shots long term - the quick way to the poor house? When dealing with odds on shots for the long term I feel tackling them as both a backer and layer could be the way to profit. Obviously all odds on shots won't win so is there not more of an edge if you are able to judge effectively which is a possible winner or a loser then either back or lay the selection?

Re: Heads-up on Suspicious runner Dingaan
I was wondering why he has showed a lack of rides for the past and current season, If he did go to Japan that would be the reason behind that matter.5lb doesn't say it all. Some decent apprentices t In the case of Slade , didn't he go back to Japan only to return because of the earthquake there. Therefore he has not had sufficient rides to reduce his claim. -
Re: howard johnson
Yeah as with the Findlay situation I think a closed door chat has taken place with Wylie which could add to explaining his unhappy comments. Did Wylie ever back many of his own? Wasn't that a large part of why Findlay bought horses?Wylie's demeanour does seem to be a bit strange tbh "A lot of my horses will be going to the sales now. I have got to spend Monday going through them with Howard, and I'll send a few down south, I might send a few to Ireland, and the rest will be going to the sales" Is he doing a Findlay? -
Re: howard johnson Graham Wylie's Comments following the verdict brings me even more to the conclusion he played a part in Jonhson's antics.

Re: howard johnson
Hope no one is allowed to train from White Lea Farm' date=' Crook.Whats to stop him from setting another trainer up,or his wife or family member?[/quote'] Same thing crossed my mind, He could retire in name only with someone else taking control of the yard. -
Re: howard johnson I can imagine Howard Johnson will fall on tough times without the backing of Graham Wylie in his yard. Surely though he must have known about Howard's antics? As he only wants to jump ship if a ban is is issued.

Re: Glorious Goodwood
I'm not sure how CC can be described as overrated when he goes into the race as the underdog.I will be off to the downs on Wednesday to see the mighty Frankel lower the colours of the overated Canford Cliffs :moon -
Re: Would you take Workforce @ 7/4? Personally no, Bookies are obviously shrewd operators and the fact they are being generous on a price surely says they are looking to balance the book with money expected to come for another runner in the field be it on course or otherwise.

Re: Matting On Racecourses
Insuring your horses is not just about fatalities' date=' though. It guards against injuries also. Presumably, however, he owned the horse in question as surely the responsibility to insure lies with the owner?[/quote'] I would think when the owner takes out a contract with a stable insurance would be considered as part of the fee. Obviously in this case Barney takes the role of both parties.
Owner motivations

Re: Owner motivations The prospect of being able to land a large coup would be to much to resist so I would venture in to flat ownership with that in mind. Over the jumps would be purely for the thrill of going to watch the horse in action.
