  1. Re: 7's or better h2h system jtw1, I've been reading through your thread with interest, you seem to be getting some good results. However I noticed you keep picking rangers (my team). Scottish football is not doing so well at the moment and expecting rangers to win games based on their performance in previous seasons is a bit dodgy, as the team this season is a shadow of previous season's teams. All the best for the system. :hope

  2. Re: Rangers to make UEFA FINAL

At 3,75 you did just great - your options to cover the bet are far more than just Luca Toni :clap. Wish I was shopping this well. I was on Zenith big time in the first leg, if it wasn't for those yellow cards and thanks to that 3 first choice players missing I would have been on Zenith again. Without Arshavin though.. In any case great pick at these odds!
From what little i've seen of Zenith this year, Arshavin seems to be a key player for them. i think if i bet at all on the match I may lay zenit in running if the odds look promising (say > 2.5) but i'll need to put some thought in before I spend any cash.
  3. Re: Alan Gow moving to Djurgardens?

Freezes half to death? Hmm its 20 Celsius here in Stockholm atm' date=' even if it may not be as tropical as Glasgow we do have something called spring and summer here ya know :lol[/quote'] Christ, my brain is fried at the moment; I knew that, yet I still wrote it :$ Puts real faith in my degree choice or gelogy and geography..... :rollin
  4. Re: Alan Gow moving to Djurgardens?

The story has been reported by Swedish media using the British paper as source. Djurgårdens chief executive has heard nothing about it' date=' though. I don't know if a spell in Allsvenskan will jump start his career but I'm sure he'll enjoy those bright, warm Swedish summer nights :lol[/quote'] Cool, I figured it might just be paper talk, If he goes to the Allsvenskan and freezes half to death it might give him the kick up the arse he needs.
  5. I was reading the paper yesterday and saw this article: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football-news/2008/04/19/gow-could-move-to-sweden-to-further-career-86908-20387769/ About Alan Gow, the glasgow rangers forward moving to Djurgardens for the summer. Is this paper talk or has this been reported in Sweden as well? The reason I ask is that I think he has some great potential if he can get some match practice before next season, and this would certainly give him that. Cheers.

  6. Re: UEFA Cup 24th of April

At these odds backing Bayern looks insane to me. It is at home that they made many punters lose in this Cup, except a convincing win vs the Greeks late in the groups, I do not remember a good game from them in UEFA at Allianz. The DFB Pokal was just another prove that betting on Bayern -1 EH or higher is far too risky. In a game they almost fully controlled simply couldn't score a second, which would have killed Dortmund. And IMO Dortmund were far from being decent rival. Vs Getafe in the first 20 mins it could have been 5-0 to Bayern, then little by little Getave levelled the game and Bayern were lucky with that draw. Not to mentioned the second leg!!! Take Franck Ribbery out and it is Zenith who should be considered favourites. Not to mention van Bommel who steps on the pitch with a yellow card, Schweinsteiger who is miles away from last season, Ze Roberto who only shines rarely now, etc, etc...The problem with Bayern is the Manager imo, he has the names and the class in the team, but he is far too old-fashioned for the modern game. The fact is Bayern look better away except in Cottbus :), but somehow they lose control later in the game, the Getafe game an exception. Saw Zenith 3 times in the Cup and a couple of times in their League, none of the games was enough to make up my mind how good they are. Still, the ease with which they thrashed Leverkusen was frightening, every counter was a goal opportunity! Great pace, one-touch play, massive confidence, skillful enough... I am looking at backing Zenith somehow on +1,25 or 1,5, depends on odds, this season had plenty of examples that names don't count that much anymore - Inter, Valencia, not to mention domestic leagues where great teams are fighting relegation. It is easy to follow Bayern, but if there is any football logic and if stats and current displays matter, Zenith can get away with a good result here. It is another story if they will get through to the Final....
I wholeheartedly agree. Although bayern did turn aberdeen over at home in the last 32, and lets face it, zenit are no aberdeen :lol If i bet on this I think I'd back zenit plus a couple of goals or maybe DNB, but to be honest i think i'll just stay away.
  7. Re: Euromillions

oops' date=' sorry. didn't realise that it was "actual knowledge" that was required. i tried that last night and wolfsburg get me down ! Seriously though, i have used statistics to arrive at the 8 numbers I ended up with, and i'm really not stupid enough to think that these are guaranteed. i don't mind being knocked back (unless you've got amazing knockers to do it with !) but i'll have a little cry now ;)[/quote'] Numbers dont have a memory, assuming all balls are the same then there is no way of predicting which are more likely to come up.
  8. Re: World Snooker Championships I can't believe Hendrys down at 40s this year. I know he's been totally guff in the last few years but i still remember when he was a stick on to win every year. How times have changed... I usually say that dings gonna do well since he came onto the scene but to be honest i dont fancy him at all this year. he seems to have lost his bottle a little in recent big tournaments. I might back maguire if i bet on the outrights and I'll definately look at him to win his quarter. He's come on leaps and bounds recently and being the best scottish hope this year I'd feel bad no supporting him :ok

  9. Re: UEFA Cup - April 10th

That just doesn't make ANY sense I am afraid. How can you confidently expect one thing to happen, but rationally expect the opposite...? Great news that King Carlos Cuellar has travelled, he is apparently fit and ready to go. I agree with Sir Fernando here, we will be lucky to see more than 2.5 shots in the match, in all probability it will be a dire game. I reckon a single goal will settle this one. Obviously, I hope Rangers get it, but I am not EXPECTING anything, as usual - I won't be having a bet. But if I was forced to, it would have to be on the 'under 2.5' goal market.
This is my view exactly. I would hate to bet on this one, or even watch it as a neutral but doubtless some people will underestimate rangers ability to stop teams playing and nick a late goal as happened in panathinaikos.
  10. Re: UEFA Cup - April 10th From rangers official website: (http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1284437,00.html) DEFENSIVE rock Carlos Cuellar will be fit for Thursday's UEFA Cup showdown with Sporting in Lisbon. Despite scare stories this morning over his fitness, the former Osasuna centre back will be ready for the second leg of the quarter-final in the Jose Alavalade Stadium. The brave Spaniard was not feeling 100 per cent on Sunday but still opted to play for Rangers at Tannadice and again performed solidly even although he was unfortunate to concede an own goal in the 3-3 draw with Dundee United which took Rangers seven clear in the SPL title race. The head cold he was suffering meant he was unable to attend a press launch yesterday for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year awards, in which he is one of the four nominees for the top prize. However, the Murray Park medical team are confident that Cuellar will take his usual place in the side on Thursday night and he will travel with the team tomorrow morning. Regular defensive partner Davie Weir is suspended for the match having accrued three yellow cards in Europe this season so it looks as though Christian Dailly will come in. I would caution against betting until a team sheet is seen, if cuellar is fit rangers have a good chance to progress, but if he's out rangers will without a doubt struggle. I think all the papers are blowing it out of proportion though, seems like he is looking better today and the papers were written yesterday so some of that info will be out of date, (although i've only seen the record today). Anyway, I'd better get back to revision instead of deaming about the UEFA cup :tongue2

  11. Re: Champions League - April 8th I like to look of chelsea to go over 2.5 tonight. Fenerbahce dont seem to keep clean sheets in europe and if chesea score early they're gonna have to go for it, leaving space for drogba et al to score. Not touching the liverpool arsenal game, my head says arsenal should progress, but i've seen enough of liverpool this season to know that they're far from pushovers, especially at home. Good luck tonight for everyone.

  12. Re: UEFA Cup - 6 March

I don't think anybody is writing Rangers off (or at least I'm not anyway, Im backing Bremen draw no bet), but this is a huge step up in class to anything they've faced so far, as the Bundesliga still produces some pretty damn good teams at the top end. Bremen are ranked 22nd in Europe according to the 2007 UEFA standings, while Rangers are 45th. Panathinaikos, who Rangers never actually beat over 90 minutes remember, are ranked 32. The suspension issue you mention is Diego - I'd say that missing one game isn't going to make him rusty, more likely it will make him fresh! He is the main danger man too, and will know he can put everything into this game without having to worry about turning out at the weekend. Obviously, Rangers did do well in the group stage of the CL, but a huge part of that was that frankly bizarre game at Lyon; an amazing result, but not reflective of the performance at all. A very tight game, and all 3 results are possible, but I fancy the evens on Bremen -0 AH.
I had thought it was longer than a one game ban, my mistake. All in all a good night for rangers but im still not 100% confident about the second leg.
  13. Re: UEFA Cup - 6 March I think people are underestimating Rangers tonight against Bremen. On paper bremen are a better side, but according to the bbc pages they will be missing a few players tonight and have some others coming off suspensions/injuries and may be a bit rusty. Rangers have an almost full squad to pick from (apart from long term injury beasley) and have been very solid at the back all season. I feel, having watched rangers in recent weeks, that they are hitting form and that davis and dailly in particular have done an excellent job in midfield. As for cousin, I have reservations about his workrate, but he does play well in the big matches, assuming he is selected ahead of mcculloch or perhaps boyd :tongue2 As you may have gathered, I am a rangers fan and I am doubtless wearing my blue glasses while I write this. I personally wont be betting on this tonight - I never bet on my own team, too superstitious for that, I'm afraid. But don't write rangers off too easily. Good luck all.
