  1. Re: Group B: Netherlands vs Chile > Mon 23rd June I guess the desire to "avoid Brazil" is an important issue despite the hit & miss nature of this Brazil team (assuming they top their own group of course). There is also the incentive of likely facing Costa Rice or Ivory Coast in the quarters but that will unlikely influence the teams minds that much. Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal described it as a final, but I doubt it'll be a "park the bus" type of game since neither of these teams hold that philosophy. Although RVP is suspended and influential Chileans Vidal & Arranguiz may be rested (the latter scored 1 & created another vs Spain), I expect goals in this one due mostly to the combination of both teams attacking flair and the inconsistency of the Dutch defence. 2. Re: Championship > 9th November - 11th November Boro, like many of the Championship's better sides, are the sexy Siren drawing us punters closer to the rocks. OK they are in great form and tbh I've seen very little of them this season but I look at the injury list and think thats got to catch up at some stage. Thomson, Emnes & Arca for example are very good players. Seen a few other tipsters on other sites saying things like 'strong motivation to go top' which in this league is so often a curse. On the positive side for home backers, SW's away form is 1 win, 2 draws and 4 losses, and that win was recently against the headless chickens of Ipswich. Still, no bet for me.

  3. Re: Newcastle United v West Bromwich Albion > Oct 28 This could be a tricky one for the Toon but I reckon they'll prevail. We can discount Newcastle's rather average performance against Bruges as it was mostly second string and thus the 1st team should be fresh. WBA don't have a great record at St.James it's true (1 win in 11 visits) but NU themselves have only 1 win in 7 against the Baggies in all competitions. West Brom's away record in the league isn't actually that great this year. All the credit they've justifiably received this season is down to their performances at home. So, away form is 2 draws and a loss, and those 2 draws included a last gasp equaliser to a Spurs team still finding their feet and against a very average Villa side who are trying to rebuild on the cheap. Tiote missing for Newcastle is a blow no doubt but I'd be more concerned if 1 of the creators like Ben Arfa or Cabaye or a striker like Demba Ba was missing. Plus the defence is solid with Taylor & Collocini in the centre. Newcastle HW @ 2.04 Betfair

  4. Re: Group A > Oct 24 (D.Kiev, D. Zagreb, Porto, PSG) I just fear PSG will have the Juve primadonna mentality going into yesterday's game in Copenhagen, i.e. we just need to show up and it's 3 points in the bag. Ibrahimovic encapsulates that sort of arrogance perfectly. On the other hand he's also the kind of guy who can score 2 in injury time and pretend the previous 90 minutes didnt happen.

  5. Re: Sunderland v Newcastle United > Oct 21 Just first thoughts on this but as usual with this fixture you have to consider cards, not much point in trying to call a result as form goes completely out the window. Sunderland have had 4 reds in the last 4 Tyne-Wear derbies and there have been 25 yellows too in these games. Haven't looked at odds yet, although Tiote to get a card I'll most likely take but only if it's 1.70+. A pity Cattermole isn't playing although the 3.15 (Betfair) or so for red to be flashed is worth considering, despite his absence :lol. Martin Atkinson will officiate. He's shown an avg of 4.20 yellows per game this season in his 5 Premier League matches so far (no reds).

  6. Re: WC > European Qualifiers - October 16th England do often seem to play better away because the Wembley crowds have very high expectations and are quick to criticise mediocre or sub-par performances. It's surprising for example that the Ukrainian team that looked very good & deserved to win in London has now picked up just a point against Moldova & Macedonia combined. And I'd rate Ukraine & Poland as being similar enough in terms of quality. Plus the Poles missing their captain can't be a good thing & Lewandowski not exactly on form for his country. England should have enough quality and depth to win this apparently tricky (according to the bookies) away tie.

  7. Re: WC - Europe Qualification > 12 October although the Irish are like the Stoke of international football in that we usually play well at home and our style isnt exactly Barcelona, cannot see us getting anything vs Germany without 2 key central defenders as well as missing the likes of McLean, Doyle and Keane in attack, despite the latter being in the twilight of his career. Walters is an average player and he'll be up front on his own. Not much to worry about for the German defence there. Cox is a Championship-level player but wasted on the wing where he'll most likely start. We were truly dreadful against Kazakhstan and fluked the win. I have the feeling the players are increasingly getting fed up with Trappatoni's negative garbage, I know I certainly am along with many other fans and the media. Yeah we dont have any world class players but we still shouldnt be struggling to do the basics on the pitch, such as passing the ball to another player :lol Very likely German victory, I'll take in a double medium stakes.

  8. Re: Championship > September 29/30

We've never been in the play off places this season and Forest 'plument towards the relegation zone' isnt really correct. They were 10th before yesterdays games and now sit in 15th with a win today putting them at least 8th which would put them 3 points off top' date=' hardly 'pie in the sky' dreams of promotion.[/quote'] A red card has been flashed in this fixture often enough. Fierce local derby of course. What do you reckon on the odds for red @ 3.50 or so?
  9. Re: Npower Football League Championship Playoff Final > 19th May Can see goals in this one, and most likely a WH win in the 90. The size of the Wembley turf lends itself to the sort of attacking flair which both sides contain. Holloway's Blackpool don't tend to sit back and defend, and they kept only 4 clean sheets away in the regular season. Granted they did tighten up towards the end of the campaign but at Birmingham in the semi they showed nerves again & conceded 2, despite leading 2-0. They've also scored at leeast 1 in 23 of their last 24 league games (although they only managed to put 1 past the Hammers over the space of 180 minutes in the regular season). I just think West Ham will have too much for them in the end given their squad depth, and they'll prevail over an undoubtedly spirited Blackpool performance. Over 2.5 @ 1.82 Betfair

  10. Re: Weekend > SPL > 28 - 29 April Both Celtic & Rangers have been involved in goals-filled games recently and neither can go anywhere in the league. Big motivation on both to get one over the old enemy here. Who knows, it might even be Rangers FC last Old Firm ever (ouch!) Over 2.5 @ 1.98 Betfair

  11. Re: Wolves v Man City - April 22nd

I am serious torn in this game. Every mug and their dog knows City are likely to thrash Wolves, but the odds are so short. I don't want to look like a retard backing wolves on a big handicap only to see them lose 0 - 8. The early kickoff may affect this game.
what is it with you and mug punters? :lol
  12. Re: Midweek > League 2 > April 17th Shrewsbury should win this one reasonably comfortable. Unbeaten so far at home this season & looking good for a return to L1. Wright & Collins have 24 goals and 12 assists between them. Vale can be hit & miss in this division but they're safely in 15th. Shrews were leading 1-0 a few weeks back when the fixture was suspended due to fire in the stadium. HW 1.60 @ Betfair
