  1. Re: Atletico Madrid - Vojvodina

Atletico Madrid (-1.75) @1.83 (Betfair) medium stakes :cheers
Atletico 3-0 Vojvodina: Maxi (36'), Forlán (62'), Agüero (69'). Shots on Goal: Atletico 7/15, Vojvodina 0/1. An easy game for Atletico, and it could have been easily 6 or 7 goals but Serbian keeper had some impressive stops, and referee didn't conceded a goal in an non-existant offside. Good news for Atletico supporters is that team works much better with Maniche and Raul Garcia, and all the attacking cast played quite well, nothing to do with previous years when the only plan was to give the ball to Torres and wait for the goal.
  2. Atletico Madrid - Vojvodina Atletico Madrid (-1.75) @1.83 (Betfair) medium stakes Atletico de Madrid finally returns to Europe after 6 years, and being a supporter of Atletico, this is the best moment for me to make my first preview at PL :) Atletico has been a big spender this summer, landing AMR Luis García (Liverpool), AM Reyes (Real Madrid), ST Diego Forlán (Villarreal), DM Raúl García (Osasuna) and AML Simao (Benfica) as biggest names. Regrettably, none of them will make fans forget the 36M€ sale of fan favourite and star ST Fernando Torres. Also AML Martin Petrov has been sold recently to Manchester City. Main concern for punters (and especially for fans) is that Atletico de Madrid tends to win the most difficult games and lose some easier ones especially at home. In the first round they went to Romania to play much lesser team Gloria Bistrita and (not surprisingly) they lost 2-1. In the return leg, Forlán scored at min.5, but weren't able to score another one and had a hard time trying to defend that single goal. Another concern is how the fans will react to the news that Vicente Calderon Stadium has been sold and the team will be playing in a new one in 2010. Atletico fans takes this kind of stuff heartily, and it has been a testing summer after the sale of Torres and this stadium news. All in all, Atletico's fans are probably the best in Spain in terms on supporting the team in their worst moments, so it's expected that fans will crowd Vicente Calderón. No big surprises in the players left behind by Aguirre (Costinha, Mista, Ce Castro, Cleber Santana, Falcón and Braulio) Expected eleven is quite offensive. DM Luccin has been relegated to bench and Aguirre has opted for the more dynamic duo in the midfield of Raul García and Maniche. Disposition in the field will be a 4-4-2 with Leo Franco; Seitaridis, Perea, Pablo, Antonio López; Raúl García, Maniche, Simao, Maxi; Agüero, Forlán. If things don't go the right way, expect Reyes to have a go in the second half. I don't have a lot of information about Vojvodina. It seems that all their players are available and their main threat is ST Despotovic, the top scorer in Serbian League last season. Aguirre is expecting a 4-5-1 with a solid defence, leaving possession to Atletico and quick counter-attacks. Forza Atleti !! :hope

  3. Re: UEFA Cup - qual - 1st leg (Tue 31/7 - Thu 2/8)

Didn't do it in the end as struggled to get team news :sad. Would have been third one in a row after my two CL ones. Oh well plenty of other opportunities esp. with French/Scottish leagues this wkend. Hope everyone else had a good ngiht?
I got mine with a little effort (Vakerenga scored around 90 min.). Funny thing is that I started considering a massive 8-team accie, and all of them won, but in the end, only went for the 4-team I said before (Valerenga, Young Boys, Mattersburg and Hadjuk).
  4. Re: UEFA Cup - qual - 1st leg (Tue 31/7 - Thu 2/8) I don't like accumulators as well, but I'm tempted to have a go at Mattersburg, Young Boys, Valerenga and Hadjuk (@ 2.38 on Betfair) I leave out Brann and AIK since the final result doesn't matter because they are not going to lose 0-8 or 0-5, so lack of motivation is a bit of concern. Comments are welcome :)

  5. Re: Sweden - Superettan (29-30 July 07)

I don't think Sirius should be backed based on form: Both teams have got 4 points from their last 5 matches' date=' Degerfors won the home match 1-0. Both teams have one important defender suspended and one important midfielder injured, but Sirius get back midfielder Gallo, good news for them. Degerfors recently signed midfielder Holmberg from division 1 team Qviding, he was a key player in his former team and ready to play today, if he's good enough for Superettan remains to be seen. My guess is homewin, but I find it difficult to work Sirius out now: Will they get back to winning ways again or was their great 1st half of the season just a case of overperforming? No bet for me, I'm too unsure.[/quote'] Thanks for the good analysis, G:G. :notworthy I'll stay clear then.
  6. Re: Sweden - Superettan (29-30 July 07) Not an expert in Swedish football, but based solely in form, Sirius Uppsala tb Degerfors @1.82 (Betfair) looks nice. Sirius sits at 4th position with a great home record (6-0-1, 15-7) losing only to leader Norrkopping, while Degerfors is last with an awful away record (1-1-5, 5-14). Can anybody with a better knowledge of Swedish leagues comment?
