  1. Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) A touch unlucky today i think Russ, as the ground was clearly deteriorating throughout the day at Ripon. Appreciate both yours and Billys posts earlier, and yes, my comments were intended to be entirely constuctive, but i still appreciate the way you have both responded. My concern was in fact, not the aftereventing, as on all known evidence, that is just not you. I felt that you may have re-visited the race after the withdrawals, but not informed followers of the thread, that you had changed your views, which in the event, left the bookies with undeserved profits from the race, again though , from what i have witnessed, that would have been out of character. Your explanation that you don`t usually have access to the site during the day put a completely different complexion on the situation however, and the fact that you didn`t post your updated views became clear, and no apologies are necessary. Billy mentioned Ginger in his post, well i go racing a fair bit with Ginge, so i have the word " value " firmly imprinted in my mind, and i can`t wait for Glorious Goodwood to come round again when i`ll be hearing that word on the hour, every hour for 6 days in a row :zzz. Ginge knows that i`m only joking there, but on a serious note i have utmost respect for all of the race reading posters who post on here because i am aware of the time it takes, and those of us who simply follow the threads are really indebted to you all. I understand that Isiris now charge nearly £1700 a year for their info., well combine the guys on here and you`d get a better return and all for nowt. Your very good health, and i`ll go now in case anyone feels :puke ( Been longing to use that icon )

  2. Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Oh dear, this is going to be hard, as i`m going to be a little critical of someone who i believe has developed into one of the best race readers i have come across, and i daresay i may get slated for it. Unfortunately though it is on my chest and has to come off. Referring back to the 3.20 at Beverley yesterday. In your original analysis Russ, you felt that the eventual winner was not a contender because of the draw. However, in your post race comments you mentioned that you felt that the draw factor had been negated by the non runners and decided that Luscivious was very much a player and quite rightly backed it. Unfortunately you did not post script those thoughts onto this thread, leaving anyone following you in with a single selection on a horse well beaten on the day, unaware that your thoughts on the race had changed. I`m sure in the whole scheme of things over the season this will make little difference, but, well i think you know what i`m saying and take it in the spirit it is meant.

  3. Re: How To Produce A 100% Book " My own opinion / race reading and the things I take in to account. Then there is my own knowledge and opinion. If you ask me about any other subject, I can not remember a thing, don’t even know what day it is sometimes. " Badges, car headlights, that type of thing do you mean? Excellent post Ginge

  4. Re: Question for Systems Experts Hello Ginge The beauty of systems is the simplicity of selection and operation. If you start consulting the table of odds and chances there is every chance that it would become far too complicated. With a system bet, you simply find the selection then seek the best market price available, regardless of value, which i appreciate goes against all of your principles. However, let me take Ralphie`s Quick system as an example. Unfortunately, i discovered it only in june of this year, but it has a long history, as anyone can see. I do not know the selection criteria, but i would suggest it finds selections in no time at all. The way to operate a system imo is to use a staking plan, so far i have used a square root plan which has more than trebled my bank in 4 months, however, if i had used a 10 per cent of bank plan, then my bank would have increased more than 6 fold. Whilst i understand your reasoning behind the table of odds and chances, there is without doubt more ways than one of skinning the cat in the betting world:ok

  5. Re: Salisbury 16/08/07 4:15 Sals. Dubais Touch 5pts ew Based on his run in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood recently where he finished behind the likes of Dunelight, Thousand Words and Royal Oath, who all oppose again today, this horse could easily be overlooked. However, he bounced back at the same meeting to win a Listed race very gamely and held off all comers late on and at the price, i feel this one has a terrific chance of making the frame. The ground may possibly be an issue but Mark Johnston has further Group entries for him,so obviously thinks he`s pretty smart and looks to me to be the value bet currently.

  6. Re: Glorious Goodwood DAY 1 Short of time unfortunately, but i like the look of both Dream Eater and Paveroc in the maiden at 5.05 Both have solid form in better races than this, both finishing 1/2 length behind Hatta Fort who has gone onto to win a Group 2 race recently, albeit stepped up to 7f. Dream Eater also ran well to finish 5l behind Winker Watson after refusing to settle the time before. The current exchange fav. Shallal ran in a modest maiden at Newmarket and did not really cover himself in glory and imo will need to improve a fair bit on that to win this. If Dream Eater settles, i expect him to take all the beating, but Paveroc should also be thereabouts 5 points win on both Dream Eater and Paveroc @ 5.7 and 5.9 respectively

  7. Re: Ascot Saturday 28/07/07 4:20 DYLAN THOMAS If you are prepared to overlook the possible ground issue...remember DT won last years Irish Derby trial on yielding ground......he looks a stand out bet to me. Stepped backed up to 1m 4f, which he has not raced over since winning the Irish Derby last year, i believe that trip is the real issue here, and he should simply outclass his rivals today.
