  1. Re: Europe League - Qualification 02/07/09 Anyone any idea on Zestafoni? Lisburn Distillery are still rebuilding after a pretty big clearout including the manager and most their best players - brought in a bit of quality but certainly have not gelled (played an Eircom league team last week who fielded half regulars half trialists and were beaten 4-0) so this Lisburn team is nothing special and 2/1 on Zestafoni looks half-decent as long as Zestafoni are even pretty poor as The JJB Premiership standard to alot of the teams is this league is absolutely embarassing

  2. Re: Weekend Bets 5-7 june (internationals)

I just checked william hill mate Belarus/Belarus 1/6 i think they made a mistake with 13/8 otherwise i would put XXXL stake on it. England/England is 2/5 where did u get odds like 13/8 ???
Looks like Will Hill have suspended it, he means to win both halves so say they have to win 1-0 first half, then be 2-0 FT. 11/8 currently in SkyBet atm for England... http://odds.bestbetting.com/football/world-cup-2010/world-cup-qualification/europe-(uefa)/group-6/round-1/kazakhstan-v-england/win-both-halves/
  3. Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U

I've watched Barcelona ALOT this season and they are a pleasure to watch but even against small teams in their league and at home they struggle to break teams down that stick 11 men behind the wall and just say 'attack us'. This is why they excel in Europe, every team is expected to come out and attack which Barcelona feeds on and takes advantage by their excellent attacking players such as Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Eto'o! In recent weeks i've seen Barca without Henry and they are just not the same team. It means that Iniesta usually pushes into the attacking trio and thereby Barca lose an incredible amount in midfield by playing two defensive midfielders such as Abidal and Toure in midfield which means their attacking flow suffers and not many players are pushing forward and they lack much creative spark upfront. Against Chelsea we seen all this in context, Hiddink had obviously done his research, stuck the 11 men behind the ball and said 'attack us' and this worked to a treat 0-0 at Nou Camp, 1-0 up at home after a counter-attack but then Chelsea got too attack-minded and over-confident, starting to push forward instead of trying to just contain Barca which led to them scoring at the very end. Let's look at the misssings; Alves - was absolutely horrible against Chelsea but is still quite a big loss as he gets forward at every occasion playing in others going forward. Marquez - didn't start most matches this season and is quite over-rated player Abidal - Toure is more than an adequate replacement as he has played incredibly well in this position in recent weeks Henry didn't play against Chelsea and if i'm honest was the biggest reason behind Barca not being clinical upfront with most attacks not comprimising of the usual amount of players going forward. Sir Alex knows that Fletcher is a HUGE missing and the most important missing of the match i feel as it is how Ferguson's tactics pan out against teams that play 'better football' than United, just like they did against Inter and Arsenal - Fletcher runs about the midfield pressing every player not allowing them to play their usual flowing football and this works incredibly well (as Chelsea adapted this style aswell). Anderson i feel just isn't a good enough replacement. He isn't as experienced as Fletcher and this could cost United, he is prone to taking on a speculative shot instead of a simple pass - and losing position against a team of Barca's stature can prove costly as just look at the stats of the chelsea game of position (70%!!!). I therefore feel that Barca could overcome United here but will take them to lift the cup instead just incase. Barcelona to lift the cup - 1/1 General

  6. Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U An interesting Paddy Power special; Who to be fouled the most? Messi 5/6 Ronaldo 5/6 Think Messi is good value for this market since Barcelona using control the possession and United will want to break up the fluidity of the Barca attacks which means not letting Messi get onto the ball. Think we'll see the usual 4-5-1 Fergie usually deploys in Europe away from home which means that Ronaldo is not his usual threat and won't get forward as much to get fouled. Think Messi at 5/6 is good value here

  7. Re: Uefa Cup Antepost

I've just taken Shaktar at 20/1 e/w with William Hills to win this as i believe that with CSKA only winning 1-0 at home and Shaktar dominating that match this scoreline could very easily be overturned at home with Zhirkov missing and after Shaktar's 3-0 away win to Metalistin the league they'll be full of confidence. Ladbrokes are only going 14/1 and if they knock out CSKA i'm sure they'll drop to around 4's or 5's 2nd favourites. Man City are just too over rated and wouldn't go anywhere near them as favourites for this competition as they just can't play well away from home. Shaktar Donetsk 20/1 e/w @ Will Hills

  8. Re: 20/05/2009 Uefa Cup Final - Shaktar vs Werder Bremen

No they don't. In my opinon Shahktar haven't played a team that are capable of truly great offensive football.....and my point was to illustrate that Ukraine are ranked 22nd in European football, whilst Germany are ranked 4th, so there is a clear gap in quality. I'm also not a fan of Eastern European football. Too workmanlike, not enough skill from the European games I've witnessed. Anyway, the game is half way over, so we shall see.
Think it was the other way round tonight, Bremen knew they missed their creative spark in Diego tonight and played very tight 'workmanlike' football whereas Shaktar played very deep but everytime they got the ball they broke forward in numbers and played with a bit of flair but didn't have much finishing about them. Srna is a world-class player i feel his passing was second to none, Scholes-like only he can still run!
  9. Re: 20/05/2009 Uefa Cup Final - Shaktar vs Werder Bremen

Well i was on Shaktar at 20/1 e/w for this 1/2 place 1/2 odds so i'm VERY happy Shaktar are here! Shaktar have a very talented squad and have been under rated throughout the competition due to prejudice about being in a 'small league' and having been so far behind Dynamo in the league, something like 12 points? But we must remember that this team is made up of extremely talented South Americans whos ideal conditions is surely not the cold of Ukraine and they have been producing their pure football more in Europe where they are more climated to. Shaktar have a multi-millionaire owner and he has assembled a pretty expensive side by any standards and looking at individuals it shouldn't be that big of a surprise that they have arrived here. Meanwhile Werder, a team that has been relying on the brilliance of one player, Diego, throughout most of the competition Scored in the dying stages at home to Milan in the last 32 to give them hope for the 2nd leg Scored away to Udinese in the 1/4s Scored at home to Udinese in the 1/4s Got the comback started against Hamburg in the Semis He is their top-goalscorer in this competition on 6 goals and is the creative genius behind their attacks. This guy is suspened for the match alongside their striker who scored two at the weekend, Aleida and their towering German international centre-back Mertesacker has damaged foot ligaments and is near certain to miss out. I think that there is huge value in Shaktar at the odds on offer and may even back them again for the final (yes i'm getting greedy with my ante-post bet waiting on them) Currently 9/5 in StanJames but i don't know what way the betting will go coming up to the time with most people usually betting on the 'bigger name' of Breman so may get even larger odds closer to the final
20/1 e/w shot came in so i'm VERY happy :cow:dude:cow

  11. Re: 20/05/2009 Uefa Cup Final - Shaktar vs Werder Bremen

I don't know why Shakhtar are being made such strong favourites, other than the obvious. Shakhtar play in an inferior league and can't call on similar quality that Bremen can. No disrespect to Shakhtar, but Bremen in my opinion should be clearer favourites based on their ability and current standing, as German opposition, in European football. Shakhtar also haven't come up against any opposition in the UEFA cup that play attractive offensive football. Bremen have had to overcome Milan, Udinese and Hamburg to get to the final. Something that I think deserves respect. If I were to take on Shakhtar the odds would have to be over 3 for me to even consider it. However, the injuries and suspensions for Bremen can not be ignored, but these sort of things do tend to get blown out of all proportion. A win for Shakhtar should not be taken purely because of Bremen's missing players. They will still field 11 fit players.
Marseille play attractive attacking football and Shaktar beat them home AND away! At the time Marseille was at their peak winning something like 6/7 games in a row! CSKA Moscow were being heavily tipped to lift the trophy and they tend to play pretty offensive football with their Brazilians upfront like Jo. Spurs of course played their second team so was nothing special. In the Champ league they were VERY unlucky to get beat by Barca at home with Messi scoring twice in the last 3 minutes! And away from home against Barca, the most attacking team you can play against albeit put out a second team but how many sides have this young second-string Barca still beat quite comfortably at home? Think Shaktar have proved themselves against quite stiff competition - Barca, Marsille and CSKA Moscow
  12. Re: Euro U17 Championship, starts 06/05 Inches from a third! Think i'll be backing the Germans to repeat their comfortable 2-0 win over the dutch in the group stages again in the final! Hopefully get even money, monday morning kick off! Italy just tried to contain the Germans which worked up until the very end and got a bit tired while Germany had the likes of Trinks coming on, the Dutch play attractive football which will allow Germany to play their game and should win the final too! FT 2-0 Germany :cow:clap:cow

  13. Re: Euro U17 Championship, starts 06/05 Germany U17 vs Italy U17 Well i picked Germany out last night at 4/5 but the time i got into town Lads / Powers were both going 8/11 so i've took that and it's still available but as low as 4/7 at bet365! Backed them againt the English and they duely obliged. Left the Dutch game as didn't know if they would leave out players due to already being qualified but no they went out and beat a talented Dutch team 2-0 and look odds-on to take this trophy altogether! The Germans absolutely demolished their groupees; vs Turkey 3-1 vs England 4-0 vs Holland 2-0 Italy scraped threw in 2nd by beating France on the last game of the groups; vs Spain 0-0 vs Switzerland 1-3 vs France 2-1 The Dutch (2nd in Germany's group) played the Swiss (top of Italy's group) and won 2-1 and baring in mind that Switzerland stuffed the Italian's and the Dutch were rolled over by Germany this looks an absolute steal at 8/11! Verdict : Germany U17 8/11 Stake : 9/10
