Week 2 review (06/04/25 to 19/04/25) A grand total of 476 bets have been placed so far (including 13 non runners). This has resulted in 64 winning bets comprising of 62 'win only' bets and 2 'place only' bets. The returns from the winning bets are at £425.01, resulting in a loss of £47.99 off the bank. For each £ bet so far, only 0.90p was returned. If the current loss of 0.10p in the £ trends throughout, then the current bank could sustain approximately 1000+ more bets before crashing. Biggest returned winning price since going live is a BSP of 25.27 and the shortest is a BSP of 0.27. Longest losing run is 24, sorted as in posting order (not race time sorted) with the longest expected losing run now at 41/42. Only 4 of the last 14 days bets have returned a profit, making it the worst two week period for the complete selection process since 02/12/24 (trial and live). Had I started the live version one week earlier then a profit of around £90.00+ would have resulted. placings to date - Win - 64 2nd - 61 (four of which lost by the shortest of margins) 3rd - 58 Comparing the start of the paper trial with the live version start (over 476 bets). The start of the paper trial and the live version both had £241.71 set as the baseline. They have both performed about the same (flatlining) over the same number of bets for about 360 bets where the paper trial was boosted by three double figure winners on the same day, which then declined again until about bet No.500 where it started to show a steady increase. The lowest the bank reached for the paper trial (bet by bet basis) was £144.85 while the highest it reached was £278 (bet by bet basis). The live version had a bank low point of £168.32 and a high point of £265.84 over the same number of bets. Overall the trend since going live seems to be downward.

Week 1 review (06/04/25 to 12/04/25) A total of 230 bets produced 36 winners for an SR of 15.65%. A profit of £10.20 was the result of these winning selections for a yield of +4.43%. The strike rate has exceeded expectations compared to the 13% for the paper trial. The expected number of winners was 32.55 compared to the actual 36 winners, giving a A/E of 1.11 (slightly lower than the trial). The longest losing run was 24 using the sort order of Course/Horse (same order as in the daily postings), against a potential losing run of up to 34 occurring given the sample size of 230 bets using the same sort order. The averaged odds received was 14.43, with averaged winning odds of 5.39. I dug up a spreadsheet I used on an old thread here for comparing three non progressive staking methods against their progressive counterparts and pasted the results into it to see the outcome. 1. Level stakes (£1.00 = 0.41% of starting bank), results are as above. 2. Percentage staking (the progressive version of level stakes), using 0.41% of the bank as a stake. Ran into a smaller profit over the week. 3. Level profit stakes (profit required for each bet = £1.00 with a max of £1.00 for odds on bets). Produced a small profit but bigger yield. 4. Percentage profit stakes - progressive version of level profits, (profit required for each bet = 0.41% of starting bank with a max of 0.41% of the bank for odds on bets). Produced a small profit but bigger yield. 3 and 4 are price dependent and require placing bets at known prices, they were generating stakes below the minimum stake required on Betfair (given the results), generating the actual required profit based on the Betfair minimum stake would have required a much larger bank than the one I started out with. The last two stake methods are Kelly Criterion based. 5. Non progressive Flat Kelly stakes (the calculated Kelly % of bank to stake is flattened into points, e.g. 5% of bank becomes 5pts, 12% of bank becomes 12pts). 6. Full Kelly stakes (the calculated Kelly % of bank is the stake). 5 and 6 were awkward to set up after the results were known. I added 1% to the returned BSP's to create a Kelly edge and both these plans bombed quickly. When I reduced the edge (0.41% added to BSP instead) then these plans started producing profits. Kelly staking requires a high degree of accuracy when trying to calculate any edge and also a large bank or several banks as an incorrect assessment could wipe out a bank very quickly.
