    Atletico Madrid (-1.75) @1.83 (Betfair) medium stakes Atletico de Madrid finally returns to Europe after 6 years, and being a supporter of Atletico, this is the best moment for me to make my first preview at PL :) Atletico has been a big spender this summer, landing AMR Luis García (Liverpool), AM Reyes (Real Madrid), ST Diego Forlán (Villarreal), DM Raúl García (Osasuna) and AML Simao (Benfica) as biggest names. Regrettably, none of them will make fans forget the 36M€ sale of fan favourite and star ST Fernando Torres. Also AML Martin Petrov has been sold recently to Manchester City. Main concern for punters (and especially for fans) is that Atletico de Madrid tends to win the most difficult games and lose some easier ones especially at home. In the first round they went to Romania to play much lesser team Gloria Bistrita and (not surprisingly) they lost 2-1. In the return leg, Forlán scored at min.5, but weren't able to score another one and had a hard time trying to defend that single goal. Another concern is how the fans will react to the news that Vicente Calderon Stadium has been sold and the team will be playing in a new one in 2010. Atletico fans takes this kind of stuff heartily, and it has been a testing summer after the sale of Torres and this stadium news. All in all, Atletico's fans are probably the best in Spain in terms on supporting the team in their worst moments, so it's expected that fans will crowd Vicente Calderón. No big surprises in the players left behind by Aguirre (Costinha, Mista, Ce Castro, Cleber Santana, Falcón and Braulio) Expected eleven is quite offensive. DM Luccin has been relegated to bench and Aguirre has opted for the more dynamic duo in the midfield of Raul García and Maniche. Disposition in the field will be a 4-4-2 with Leo Franco; Seitaridis, Perea, Pablo, Antonio López; Raúl García, Maniche, Simao, Maxi; Agüero, Forlán. If things don't go the right way, expect Reyes to have a go in the second half. I don't have a lot of information about Vojvodina. It seems that all their players are available and their main threat is ST Despotovic, the top scorer in Serbian League last season. Aguirre is expecting a 4-5-1 with a solid defence, leaving possession to Atletico and quick counter-attacks. Forza Atleti !! :hope
    SIMAO AND GARCIA WERE GREAT PICKUPS... especially simao at the attacking midfielder position. he should do well in more of an attacking style offense especially with country man maniche playing alongside with him from portugal. i like there chances far beyond this tournament to pull through and give a good showing. i darkhorse team indeed if they call pull it toghther.

    Zrinjski Mostar is probably the worst football team that i have ever watched, and i have watched too many lousy teams in serbian league , national cup, and in qualifications for Uefa Cup. My team played against them in previous round, and humiliated them with 6:1 win on their ground. In Belgrade result was just 5:0. Thanks to Uefa and Partizan hooligans, we`re kicked from europe this season. And now, those amateurs from Zrinjski are going to next round, which is disgrace for football that team that managed to concede 11 in just two games, progress. Anyhow, Zrinjski is playing Rabotnicki in Skoplje tonight. And for me bet on hosts is a must. Odds are not great, around 1.5-1.55 at my local bookies, but IMO, it`s safe as bet can be... A team that consists of me and my drunken friends would beat Zrinjski. Pick : Rabotnicki to win @ 1.5 confidence 10/10, going big smiley.gif GL!

    IVE decided to post here becasue i see a couple more hockey people here then at my other forums. hopefully there is a couple more puckheads here. a little difficult to pick games on the first day of the season but this is a good value. BUFFALO SABERS +120 = 2.20 last season's Eastern Conference finals get relived in the first game of the season. anytime buffalo gets + money is always a good bet. they are in good form in the pre season (Buffalo (5-1-0) at Carolina (1-4-0)) The 'Canes were outscored 20-10 while losing their first four games and finished the preseason with only one win. so buffalo is going to come out gunning. Center Matt Cullen and defenseman Aaron Ward both signed with the New York Rangers. Doug Weight and Mark Recchi -- acquired for veteran leadership -- returned to St. Louis and Pittsburgh, respectively. the stanley cup banner goes up in carolina today... i dont expect it to go up this year.

    YESTERDAY 2-1 +0.95 UNITS. THANKS TO THE VANCOVER WIN LAST NIGHT!!!! YEAR TO DATE. 3-1 +2.15 UNITS. EVERY BET 1 UNIT. I LIKE 3 PLAYS TONIGHT AGAIN. Montreal (0-0-0) at Buffalo (1-0-0) pick: BUFFALO SABERS -170 MONEYLINE. a high price to pay for a win but well worth it in my opinion. the saberes already have a game under thier belt with a nice win against the defending champion carolina 2 days ago. now they come home to face a montreal team who hasnt played a game yet and they will play thier home opener. one in good form is buffalo goaltender ryan miller.. Ryan Miller, who had 32 saves in the game and turned aside all three shootout attempts, is 4-0-1 with a 1.78 goals-against average and .944 save percentage lifetime against the Canadiens. Buffalo is 9-2-1 at home against Montreal since the start of the 2001-02 season. New Jersey (0-0-0) at Carolina (0-0-1) pick: CAROLINE HURRICANES -120 MONEYLINE. This is the same principal as the buffalo bet. carolina already having a game under thier belt go up against the NJ devils. at home after losing thier home opener. ive been doing this trend for a couple years now and it always seems to work. anytime you could get -120 for the defending stanley cup champions on home ice is a godsent. this will not happen very often. i like this play here a lot. Los Angeles (0-0-0) at Anaheim (0-0-0) pick: LOS ANGELES KINGS + 165 This rivalry is very heated usually with lots of goals. the reason for this la kings pick is simply because anahiem is a new team. although they are the better team on paper and will be better then the kings overall down toward the end of the season. i think they can easilly pull this off... the pressure is on anahiem to win thier home opener. not the los angeles kings. very good value with this bet.

    1 day of winning is off to a good start. i saw lots of people on the correct side and its only the beggining of the season :) all bets are 1 unit. YEAR TO DATE. YTD: 1-0 +1.20 UNITS. i am taking 3 games today.. St. Louis (0-0-0) at San Jose (0-0-0) ST LOUIS BLUES +1½ -125 ST LOUIS was a brutal team last year. add Manny legacy in net and you bring stabilty. To boost the offense, St. Louis brought back longtime center Doug Weight, Bill Guerin also joins the team after a 40-point season with Dallas a year ago. Keith Tkachuk is healthy. look for them to atleast come out strong out of the gate. but not really do well the end of the season... ive noticed that the first couple games of every start in the season for the alst few couple years that most games either end in a tie or shootout (the last two years) i see a good oportunity here since most of the pressure is on the sharks to win thier home opener and they shold not lose by more then 1 goal. not bad for a -125. Nashville Predators -1½ +120 Vancouver (0-0-0) at Detroit (0-0-0) VANCOVER CANUCKS +170 YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME WITH THESE ODDS.... ARE YOU SERIOUS? +170 detroit is not the team it was in the past heading into this year. losing shanahan, legace, and yserman to retirement, key ingrediates to thier dominating run. back from the key ingrediates is "THE DOMINATOR" dominik hasek! who backstopped the Red Wings in their 2002 title run -- returns for his third stint with the team. hes 43 years old now i believe. the last stint with ottawa he was eradic at best and all over the place. i cannot back a team with him in net any longer (not that ive lost with him in the pipes years ago) the canucks are a solid team and didnt lose much.. they also added ROBERTO LOUNGO IN NET!! big plus for the team and ive seen him win games on his own in florida. back vancover with a huge value!!!!!! Nashville Predators -1½ +120 Chicago (0-0-0) at Nashville (0-0-0) one of the nhl's most potent offenses just got a whole hell of a lot moredangerous with the additions of signing free agents J.P. Dumont from Buffalo and Jason Arnott from Dallas and acquiring Josef Vasicek from carolina. they only lost 1 key player in scott walker.. other then that this is an inproved team facing a chicago blackhawks team that was abismal last year. last in the league in goals allow. this points to a 2+ point win for nashville.
