  1. Re: UEFA Cup final on Wednesday So glad I chose not to be greedy and hedged on Sevilla outright at 1/2. I also went under 2.5 but in all honesty, I thought that bet was sure to go down at half-time. I also went in again on Sevilla at 2/5 at the end of normal time, so all in all, a very profitable night. It's amazing how relaxed I was watching the game knowing that I was winning whatever the outcome - much better for the blood pressure. I have 7/1 about Liverpool next week, so a similar plan of action to hedge on Milan.

  2. I am holding a voucher for 14/1 each way on Espanyol struck at the quarter final stage. I am already guaranteed 14/3 for reaching the final but now want to do the sensible thing and hedge some of it on Seville. I was wondering what type of bet would give the best value for money. Seville are best price 8/15 to win the cup outright but just wondered if there were other combinations of win in 90 mins, extra time, penalties etc that would give me better value. cheers

  3. Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Ajax -1 goal ( 8/13 )v Austria Vienna Palermo ( 8/13 ) v Newcastle Looks like a solid win double for me with Bet 365 and will carry my main wedge. Ajax will play a strong side and the manager has stated he would like to be assured of qualifying after two games. Vienna are very poor this year and this must rate a fantastic chance for Ajax to get one of those wins. Palermo/Newcastle game has already been widely covered. Roeder has shown his hand by leaving players behind, no doubt knowing another home win in this comp will be enough to see them through. Palermo, with a win already, see this as a great chance to assure qualification and allow the coach to rest some players in later fixtures. Will have a small perm ( sixfolds & accum ) and throw the following in:- Nancy ( 1/2 ) Partizan - DNB ( 8/15 ) Dinamo - DNB ( 1/3 ) Lens - DNB ( 4/9 ) Sparta +1 goal ( 1/2 ) good luck to all

  4. Re: Champions League 17/18 October 2006

Man Utd -1 ( 8/15 ) and Bremen -1 ( 4/6 ) with Bet365 will carry my cash. That's a 6/4 shot and that will do for me. Plenty of other possibles such as Lille, Porto, Arsenal and Lyon and I'll probably have a small accumulator just in case for small stakes.
Only downside of getting my big double up was having to sit through a piss poor match between Bremen and Levski. On this showing, even a below par Barca side will beat Bremen.
  5. Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 19th Oct Livorno ( 17/20 ) with Sporting Odds to beat Rangers. Livorno are unbeaten in seven games inlcuding a 0-0 draw with AC Milan and come here fresh off a 2-0 away win at Ascoli. Their small, compact ground contains some of the most intimidating fans in the country. Rangers come here off a shocking 1-0 reverse at home to Inverness and were struggled to put away a very avergae Norwegian side in Molde in the previous round. Their general play over the past month has been very poor and Le Guen is certainly having a hard time from the media. This is a maximum bet for me - I already have secured Evs with Skybet but that is long gone now.

  6. Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept I feel sorry for anyone who backed Rangers tonight ( and that inlcudes me ) as they turned in an absolutely terrible performance. They continually gave possession away with misplaced passes when under no pressure. The game was played at a pretty pedestrian pace and I wonder how the Blue Noses who made an expensive trip to Norway to watch their team are feeling now on their way home?? Kris Boyd and the back four had a particularly awful night and you would have to make Celtic very strong favourites for the Old Firm game in just over a week on the strength of this week's games...and yes, I am well aware that an Old Firm game "takes care of itself" but you can't deny that Rangers are a pretty poor side.

  7. Re: CL matches 13/09 Don't let the fact that Celtic are top of the SPL fool you. They have put in some distinctly ordinary performances, especially away from Celtic Park. They have already lost 2-1 at Hearts and then held to a 1-1 draw by Inverness before narrowly beating a very ordinary Aberdeen side on Saturday, although I take into account that Aberdeen perform much better against the Old Firm than anybody else. The big problem for Celtic will be that they don't have any genuine pace at the heart of their defence. It is a huge bonus that Ronaldo can't play as he could have ran riot but the bad news is that Ferguson will surely use this game to give Rooney and Scholes 90 mins. That may allow him to use Giggs back in his more familiar role to provide some width to their attacks. Utd should win this and odds of 4/11 will not put the big hitters off. For the more modest investor, Bet Direct's offer of 11/10 minus one goal should still be landed. I won't play tonight at all as I'm waiting on Utd for a treble after Barca and Bayern obliged on Tuesday. Good luck

  8. Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Double with Skybet is my bet. There are a number of teams that look good, such as Alkmaar, Sevilla and Marseille but I've narrowed it down to the two who look to offer the best value. Ajax ( 4/6 ) at Start Ajax have won five of their six games so far including an away win in Copenhagen, however, a sloppy home performance saw them exit from the Champions League in the return leg in Amsterdam. Start are eighth of fourteen in the Norwegian Tippeligaen and only scraped past Irish league side, Drogheda on penalties in the previous round. The game is being played at the ground of Lilliestrom, which should be a help to Ajax. Rangers ( 11/10 ) at Molde Molde are languishing in twelfth position in Norway and have lost eleven of their nineteen league games and got to this stage by ousting Latvian side, Skonto Riga 2-1 on aggregate. Rangers have won three and drawn three of their six league games but, in truth, they could easily have won all of their games as they have been guilty of squandering many chances in these games. They should be at full strength for this game and probably only need to convert one chance to win the game

  9. Re: CL matches 12/09 It's a treble with Bet Direct for me. Barcelona -1 goal ( 8/15 ) at home to Levski Sofia Barca have started the season very well with four wins and just one defeat to Seville in the Spanish Super Cup. They are the ideal type of team to take with a negative handicap as they are not geared up to defend a lead and will keep going forward until the last minute. Levski are appearing in the CL for the first time and got here thanks to a 4-2 aggregate win over Chievo. They have made an impressive start to their league campaign but they have not yet played a top six side/ Barca are at full strength and should prove much too strong for the Bulgarians. Bayern Munich ( 1/3 ) at home to Spartak Moscow Bayern have lost only six games since this time last year and always raise their game for CL nights at home. They have won two and drawn one in the league and come here able to play their best side. Spartak lie third behind CSKA and Lokomotiv and are looking for their first win in eighteen CL appearances. Russian sides traditionally don't travel well and they have just one win from their last seven away. Bayern should take this with home advantage. Manchester Utd ( 4/11 ) at home to Celtic Utd have started the season well with four wins from four in the league and they have now won fourteen, drawn two and lost only one of their last seventeen competitive games. Wayne Rooney should come in for the suspended Christiano Ronaldo. Celtic have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three away games and have not been overly impressive in these game. This is a step up for them and their inexperienced defence at this level will come under intense scrutiny. Utd's experience of these games should stand them in good stead.
