Floody
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Hi guys! Newbie here!! Congrats too all in here for the tips... Couple of WTA tournies this week.....quebec & guangzhou in china. + the atp challengers. Personally I dnt like betting on the WTA tour, its too unpredictable! One bet that I might consider is simona halep vs tanasugarn, odds of 1.50 on halep at paddy. I really liked the way halep played at the aussie open, against jankovic! Tanasugarn is a 'old' veteran with lots of experience, but I think halep can overcome her with her powerfull play and make her run a lot!! Small stakes! 2\10 Gd luck all. homunculus
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Not bet related, but just an opinion in the ongoing discussion whether to discuss matches live in the thread or not. For me, the discussions are tremendously interesting and useful, because they often reveal some info about the players. I can understand that some people may prefer clearly structured data, preferrably in tabelar form :D, about bets, tippers and their success rate, but such data can be found in the postings and certainly are worth the extra bit of effort for anyone who needs them. I vote for live discussions.
Psycho
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Couple matches from Quebec today. Jill Craybas vs Aravane Rezai. Over 19.5 games. 1.90 @ 10bet (5/10) Rezai has got 9 overs in her last 10 matches. It's pretty obvious what's going on here. I have stopped backing her no matter what the opponent. She can't seem to work out the motivation lately and is playing overs all the time. Craybas past her best but still could survive first match here and I wouldn't be shocked if she actually managed to beat Rezai or Rezai beat herself. Over 19.5 games is quite short line considering what Rezai has been doing ever since her success in Madrid. Lucie Safarova -4 AH vs Varvara Lepchenko. 1.85 @ 10bet (7/10) Safarova has been in terrible for for ages but things are about to change, well for this tournament at least. Indoors hard is her favorite surface and I expect her to have a nice run this week. Lepchenko is not the player who could trouble her. Safarova well capable of getting the job done here. -4 games is actually very good offer in current circumstances. Taking this one without any 2nd thoughts. It's a subject that has been discussed at length by admins and they've decided that it's best to have a 'live score' thread rather than put it all in here (you'll see the thread in the forum). I originally was leaning towards a different thread but after further thought, logistically it's a nightmare to post in two threads, and it may disjoint what's discussed in here. The decision has been made, however. As someone who doesn't really engage in the live chat I quite frankly don't give a damn whether it's put in here or not, but I do see the point of view of both arguments. Psycho
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Alberta Brianti > Maria Elena Camerin. 1.75 @ Pinnacle Not a fan of either but Brianti win is too obvious to miss out on the opportunity here. Brianti had a fantastic tournament here last year. She went all the way to the final where she was outplayed by Shahar Peer. Therefore she needs to defend lots of points and motivation has to be there and it is. It was obvious in her first round performance. She demolished Parmentier whom she had lost just couple weeks ago. Brianti has won both H2H meetings against Camerin and should be good to make it 3-0. homunculus
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Guangzhou Double Morita x Groth @ 1.92 local bookie (6/10) Morita (JPN) ranked 80 is last year's semifinalist and this year's seed No 4. In round 1 she steamrolled her compatriot Namigata 62 62 and should not have problem with Gallovits (ROU, ranked 100) who is essentially a claycourter and who struggled in 1st round with Jung-Kim (KOR, ranked 208) 67 61 63. Jarmila Groth (AUS, ranked 55) is seed No 1 in this tournament. In 2007 she lost here in round 1 with Govortsova, and will want to show that she is able to make some result this year. It should not be a problem for her to beat Tanasugarn (THA, ranked 111), who is a carpet/hard specialist, but who mostly attends Challenger level tournaments and has not shown any significant results with players from first WTA hundred. Atko
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September One bet for me today in the Davis Cup. Davis Cup: Michael Llodra vs Juan Monaco Under 38.5 games @ 1.885 with Pinnacle (5/10) Semi-final stage of the Davis Cup and France will look to get off to the perfect start in the first rubber of their tie at home to Argentina. I feel they'll probably get the all-important win courtesy of Llodra here and I suspect he may get it done in under 38.5 games. This is being played indoors in Lyon on a lightning quick surface. Llodra is at his best on a fast surface indoors in France - he's probably a top 10 player in these particular conditions and showed that by beating Fernando Verdasco in France's quarter-final tie with Spain in the summer. He's got the big serve and loves to attack the net. With the surface being so quick, Monaco will have minimal time to react and the Frenchman should be able to hold his serve fairly comfortably. Llodra also comes into this match with a bit of form. He made the second week of the Australian Open before being hit by injury - which he has recovered from - and took out quality players like Tomas Berdych in straight sets. His opponent is essentially a clay court player. He's not won since the spring and has been out with injury ahead of the US Open. I think this is an extremely tough match, even with the Davis Cup adrenalin, for a rusty clay courter to come into. Monaco beat Llodra in five at the Australian Open this year but the hard courts are much slower over there than this surface and Llodra had him for two-and-a-half sets, choking in the breaker at 5-2 up. Monaco was also in much better form then. Llodra has won their only meeting on an indoor hard court 6-3 6-4, and I can see a similar story here. With all things considered, I think this match is set up for Llodra to take it routinely and give France a good start. I had the game line in the region of 36 so this holds value for me with a decent price. Happy to play this. :hope

homunculus
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Just watching Llodra (France-Argentina 2nd set), and this guy hardly ever makes the 1st serve in (50%). Unbelievable he won the 1st set. Edit: BTW, from the court atmosphere you would not believe it is played in France. Argentinians all over the place! homunculus
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Davis Cup SRB-CZE Berdych > Djokovic @2.7 loal bookie (4/10) Everyone knows that Berdych has been out of form after his famous Wimbledon final and that he was schooled badly in friday's Davis Cup match with Tipsarevic. At the same time, Djokovic just returned from successful US-Open where he was a finalist (beaten by Nadal). Those two facts IMO are creating the odds, according to which Djoko is huge favourite today. However, Davis Cup is entierly different beast than ATP tourney. In addition, just returning from a successfull tourney is hardly a plus in any upcoming match (you had to play longer than others and the expectations are creating aditional stress). Also, the Czechs, after winning yesterday's double and forcing Djoko to smash his racket into pieces seem to gain confidence. Czechs will also try hard to gain the decisive point in the match played by their's #1 player. Therefore I would say that Djoko is hugely overpriced here and, at odds that high, a shot is worth as I'd evaluate Djoko's chances to win somewehere near 60%. I had luck this week, so I've got some amount left and can afford an outright win bet at 4/10. The Berdy +3.5 is worth considering as well. Fingers crossed.:hope

jeremda01
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Think Berdy is playing Troicki. if that's true then berdych should beat troicki and set up a final with france. serbia have done very well to reach the semis. but if djokovic is playing then i reckon djoko and tipsy will win, tipsy on fire after the singles rubber win and djoko with his match time should be enough to get used to the court. also janko probs told djokovic some things about berdychs game. don't quote me on that though :P EDIT: just heard on the radio that Djokovic is playing against Berdych. IAmGooner
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Yeah it's Djokovic alright. On TV now. Was thinking about Giraldo to beat Fish later today. Playing at home, on clay, Fish had a toughie yesterday with Falla going to 5 sets. Not been following the Davis Cup too closely though. CzechPunter
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Well he is backable for solid price, but I do not think he will win this one. Tremendous pressure, as he must win the match - Fish had some 5-setters even in the US Open and always managed to win - Falla can be a very tough nut to crack at times. No bet for me here - Fish is unbackable at this price, but should win. Edit: By the way, the second match can be more promising - did not check the prices, but Querrey does not seem to be in good form.
homunculus
Re: Tennis - 13-19 September Davis Cup SRB-CZE Berdych > Djokovic @2.7 loal bookie (4/10) [...snip..] Looked nice after the first set. Should have hedged live, but was not near the computer at that time. In the second set Djoko pulled out a small injury performance, and after an about 6-7 min pause Berdy was the old familiar crap again. Must say, however. that Djoko played nice. Given the circumstances, I am going for Stepanek to beat Tipsarevic @ 2.25 (4/10) Stepanek is in much better form than Berdy right now, managed to beat Troicki easily in rubber 1 and ... I have a feeling that Czechs will manage to get into finals today :-)
