Running horses in foal??

Recommended Posts

Wonder if maybe anyone knew, maybe Avongirl?? Can you run mares in foal in a race, if so is it safe to the foal? does it affect their form? (i know working with sheep/cattle they put all there energy usually into the babies) Its just as i was reading through todays results this came out about a horse I backed today:

Orange Pip was successful off a 7lb lower mark on Polytrack on her reappearance in March, but she had been off since and is apparently now in foal. She showed good speed, but didn´t see her race out and her connections expect her to come on for the run.

Re: Running horses in foal?? Chris, Mares in foal are often thought to improve. May be it is more about her being happier. Certainly would not call it a negative. There is obviously a limit to how long a mare can run after being impregnated, not sure about the time span. Am sure Avongirl can tell you more.
